Lil'Slugger
I just want you to know, that I fully back this idea.
It's easy enough to slot up Mace for knockback instead of knockdown. Jawbreaker, Shatter, and Crowd Control will all accept +Knockback buttons that will convert the knockup/knockdown they have against even level mobs into knockback. The several knockback sets are quite inexpensive and will also do the job with nice bonuses.
For a Willpower tanker, it might be somewhat counterproductive to slot up knockback, given the brevity of your taunt aura, but having fun comes first. I'd consider an Inv/Mace for the concept instead.
Personally, I wonder why enhancements to increase knockback are even in the game. I think they should have the opposite effect and decrease it instead.

As Heraclea says, it would be very easy (and cheap) to slot the Mace attacks for KB. But given how long and hard we fought to get the KB taken OUT of Shatter and CC, it's not something I would ever do.
But if I was to pick an attack to add KB to, it would probably be Shatter. The animation doesn't quite match "swinging for the fences", but it's high probability KD and would be a reasonably good simulation of sending someone flying. You could also do CC, but it's a very wide cone, and personally, it would drive me nuts to KB that many foes. (And has been pointed out, it would be counter-productive since it'll send foes out of your taunt aura.)

Knight Court--A CoH Story Complete 2/3/2012

I have decided to make a themed build for fun (not really for power tanking) that is going to be based on a WP/Mace little league baseball player.
I have a pretty solid main build already set up for when I need to play seriously that pretty much soft caps defense and gets resists quite high with IO sets. What I am looking for is fun (maybe even silly) ideas that will allow me to still tank decently but do things like hit "home runs" on mobs with knockback IOs in a couple powers to make me laugh. I am already seeing that I could sacrifice some damage and slot a couple powers with force feedback (will also give me access to two +recharge procs). I am just hoping for some ideas to maintain tankability and yet have some laughs out of "swinging for the fences" and would love to hear if anyone has some fun ideas. Thanks, Kes |
O' really?

Pudge Prey WP/Mace. I didn't put any Knockback IO in, but it would be fun. I do however always keep the temp power St. Louis Slammer on him.
Well it is not my intention to just be going crazy with knocking everything all over the place, that is just plain annoying. I do think it would be entertaining to have one or two attacks that I could use to send a single foe flying across the map though.
I do realize that RttC is only a bit more than a second taunt duration and therefore is highly ineffective against anything that I do smack out of range, but I figure that if I have taunt I will be able to bring them back in for more if needed. There is no way I am going to use crowd control as a knockback attack, that would just be very counter productive. I know that in certain instances I will be losing damage and min/max effectiveness, which is why it will be my alternate build not the main one. I was thinking about using a 6 slotted perfect zinger set in whirling mace as a counter to the taunt aura issue (and to grab some more defence/recharge time).
This is actually the second version of Lil'Slugger, the first was INV, but I found that all of the crazy glowing rainbows really took away from the costume, and also he was always intended to be a natural look. INV, while quite a bit easier to maintain aggro with, just defeated a large part of the effect I was going for.
I really like the idea of the stupefy chance of knockback in bash or clobber. a mag 6 would be amazing! although a 20 percent chance means I would only be running a .250 average.... no way I am getting into the all-star game with that.... lol
I love the ideas so far thank you for your responses,
Kes
Is this the tank for my proposed KB All-Star team? HAHAHAHA. Melee's are welcome BTW.
Ok this is what I have been able to throw together as my alternate build that still allows me to tank quite well, but throws in a couple stupefy chance to knockbacks into bash and clobber. Had to break up a bit of regen and accuracy but not a big loss with the extra acc enhancement added in. This only gives me the two chances to knockback, but also will be popping them up into the air for "pop flies" with the normal power effects. At this point I would like to see if anyone else has any fun suggestions that I can throw in, as I can probably still lose a bit more on the defensive side if I have to in order to throw in more "for fun" effects.
Let me know if you have any neat ideas,
Kes
(edit: This will, btw, be almost exclusively for teaming with friends and goofing around in missions and AE runs. It gives me 41.4 percent Def smash/lethal and quite a bit to the other types, as well as 70.6 percent resists to smash lethal. going to be at 2863 HP with 78.8 hp per second regen without any +regeneration enhancements slotted)

If you want some serious KB, I would slot jawbreaker for it. It's knock up, so you wont even need to move all that far after you hit them. The Vanguard accolade is also great to send things across the map.
Someone should start a Paragon City baseball team if it hasn't been done yet.

I would so kick you off my farm team but your wife is hawt in vent.

Better hope I didn't start the team because we WANT to make a kb team. I wouldn't want you to be left out. Think of it, a group of kb's circles mobs and proceeds to kb into a centralized aoe graveyard. The image is so glorious I'm having a moment at work. C'mon, you know you want to break out your PB.
