    This.

I've never had problems and I bought all the stuff.vBut this comes up contantly. There's another thread currently about this too. The store is just...lame.
  2. Like RS said, I'm usually needing the slots for better powers I picked up earlier. Four slotting doesn't do much on a good power, and if it does, and it's a good power, why didn't you take it earleir?

I tend to take Rec Friend or Fly or something like that where no slots are needed.

But, from the choices you've listed, Gloom.

Also, Lowbie = a low level toon of a person of any experince level. Some would say a Lowbie is below fifteen or twenty. Others would consider them below 32 or 38.

And, because I can't let it go, some teams of all one AT do just fine, or rediculously good. Tanker Tuesdays will show you that, though sometimes they get really slow in battle, but they can't be mezzed and they won't fall. Fire/Rad is something I've recently discovered is insane. Eight stacked Accellerate Metabolism, Char, Fire Cages, Flashfire, and Hot feet...all of this on eight toons at once. Melty melt melt.

I've also been on all scrapper teams. Effective, but all over the place. We have no discipline, as it should be.

That won't do anything. You can't tell a person and ice/thermal controller [which I've never seen one, actually] is the same as a illusion/storm controller. Everything is different except some of the melee stuff is a little too similar. But katana and Broadsword get a pass cause they rock.

Make something robust. Fire blaster or katana scrap, any scrap for that matter but spines and dark kinda eat endurance. If you want to not worry about much on a melee toon and are willing to sacrifice neat tricks, take willpower. It's not training wheels but...uh...well, it's pretty robust let's say.

Other stuff...depends what you've played in other games. Read the sparce faqs here and use the search for ATs yould like. Some things, like the above mentioned ice/thermal, you'll find absolutely no information about.

Hmm, Trick Arrow/Archery defender is pretty fun too. Though my favorite defender is a kin/AR. But I've never gotten a defender out of the 20s.

And that raises another point, make toons and delete or abandon them at will. You'll eventually have a few favorites and take one or two to 50, maybe all the cool ones.

    Welcome to the game.

Also, there are some planned events on some servers. Tanker Tuesdays on Champion and Freedom. The Frads Mondays on Freedom. And the Freedom Hoarde do crap all the time.
  5. I always do PI's docks. If you have the vidiot maps, and you should, it's the area near the ferry and docks. They are only on pavement.

Teams form to hunt them. I got the Nemesis Rifle at around lev 35 since I was teaming with a 47 or so.

Unless you get sidekicked or farm a mish for them, you'll have to be in your 40s to get them. The only weapon customization they unlock is the AR.
  6. Welcome to the game. Sorry the trial is so horribly lame.

Missions come from contacts, radio/newspaper, or Task Forces. TFs are generally about the same as a radio team, but with some crazy crap every once in a while and some unique maps.

If you go Radio often, and I like to, you'll see some of the same map types. Blue damn caves, the warehouse, the office, brown caves.

Some content needs to be unlocked. Say, if you want to do the ITF, one of the cooler Task Forces, you'll have to do the Midnighter's arc.

Enhancing your powers is key. If you're going to be at Freedom of Virtue, learn to use the ingore on the broadcast spammers, or, really, just get out of Atlas ASAP. King's Row is depressing, but I dig Steel Canyon, though the Talos WW is my home.

I'm probably usng jargon you don't know.

Well, welcome to the game. katana/wp scrapper ftw.

    AVG vs CoH

I had to uninstall it and I use, some free thing I don't remember, but AVG and Windows Defender both hated CoH regardless of everything I tried.
  8. I have a claw/elec that I've got parked at 23. I plan respeccing her because she was made before I knew about mids and, oh, is just a mess.

I looked at the five or so builds that I had made for her, just thinking, a ghoster, a service toon, etc.

So, here's what I played with just now. Not exactly what you chose. But close, there's not much to change it's such a tight build.

I didn't take Focus, you're runner catcher, because I was close enough to taking Shuriken. Some things, like Caltrops, are slotted for bonus.

I didn't try to get any defense since what I'd get would be so small. Frankenslotting and plain IOs abound.

    Here's what I got:

  9. TAKE
Now to get back to reading the second half of the OP's post and all the others.
  10. I got about 10 hits searching only the scrap forum for "havoc grounded."

Our elec primary is also a tank secondary and the brutes have it too. The brutes have had it longer and tend to have more info.

I think with Elec Armor...I think you take it all.

    In fact...
Skip Brawl, Jacob [some people say the 50 degree cone is hard to aim,] confront [obviously], and the Clap, unless you like that kind of thing.

It's really a tight build if you wanna take all the good stuff. But we'd all drop different things. I'd never drop the damage aura or Chain Induction. But in my two elec melee toons, one I deleted pretty quick and the other is a tank, I didn't take Ladder.

    IMO the set feels slow.
  11. For non-Melee, fire/ice blaster is pretty good with the mitigation...uh...but nothing is going to save you from the aggro for long.

For melee, and this is based on reading here, Night Widow. And yes, you can be a Guy Widow. That means you need to get some toon on the V side up to 20. Do a ninja blade and you'll rocket to 20.

I love Katana and if you prefer robustness over the AoE, kat/wp is cool and if I didn't already have a kat I'd do a kat/sr which would be something I could leave standing in the middle of 12 enemies, go bio, get a drink and come back and they'd still be standing.

And, yeah, elec/shield, but I don't dig shield because of the look.
  12. Postagulous

Everything I was going to say has been said.

Except, Cloak and Smoke are also in that powerset. Footbomb them.

Forward it to yourself to reset?

[edited to add that other e in reset. it said rest]
  14. Regarding what's junk, while out in the field, during a TF or whatnot, deleting a common, non-set recipe is a safe thing to do. And, really most of the confuse, pet, and other uncommon power sets can be deleted. There are some exceptions.

When you go to WW after your mishs and check the prices, you might want to check the crafted price which sometimes is just stupid high. Some recipes sell for 8m but crafted sell for nearly 20m. In fact, that's how I made my first 2b.

If you're wanting to buy recipes, and start optimizing your character, which often can be done cheaper than with the common IOs, I really suggest downloading Mids.

Now, I may have insulted your intelligence if you already know this. But I totally dig IOs and bonuses, etc, and would like everyone..oh...no, I don't want everyone to do it. They'll totally "mess the market up."
  15. The way I tend to search, and maybe you did this also and I'm just posting this for other people, is thing of words that would be uncommon in other posts but would exist in the one you're looking for.

Mostly I search for build advice for other people as I hate posting my builds which are usually OK enough to get no responses. Ahem. But for, say, a fire/rad controller, I would search only the controller forum for "Lingering feet" or maybe for a trick/arch defender "emp fistfull."

It might be a huge search to put info that wouldn't be in every schedule being run by a SG or on a server for TFs. So, this may not apply exactly in this situation unless unique words could be thought of.
  16. Under the old system, or what we understood it to be, it could and would and should be used as storage if there was need. The system allowed it. There is nothing inherently wrong with using things in a manner that is not a glitch or exploit.

Under the new system, we can store items for 30 days. Still VERY handy if you're shuffling some things around or need some more space to hold recipes.

    There is no controversy.
  17. At least three of those faceplants were totally my fault for being impatient and wanting to rush in before Flashfires was recharged.

And one of the issues with uncoordinated AM stacking was my using two common IOs and an SO Recharge in AM. I didn't realize it but the SO was toast before we even started.

When we rocked, we rocked hard. When we didn't, someone threw out Mutation. Oh, and we all got lost at the dam. Yay for Assemble the Team.
  18. I'd like to be auto-added also. I'll bring a mix of blasters, scrappers, and controllers depending on what needs what, or if the team is lacking.

I don't mind leading. Though I'm most comfortable on ones that I remember how they go. I think some of you know that I make notes due to my bad memory, and often these notes are total crap.

    Cool. Looking forward to it.

Just read up on SoA. Looking forward to working with a NW.

I think I'll have to make one as I'm a scrapper at heart.
  20. For those dissing BS, and I'm no number cruncher, but I have a BS/SR scrapper because I think it's fun. And BS has the most weapon customizations. I 50ed a katana and really dug it, but wanted more than just my Vanguard, Rikti, and Rularuu.

    It's slow as Christmas, sure.

As for the MA/Fire, or whatever it was I said I'd rock. I deleted it. I'll play bad synergy some other time. Maybe with a TA/AR defender.
  21. Remove me, please. I've been ignoring the fire/rad controller only group that does mondays for nearly a month.

    Thanks.
  22. Wowsers.

Both my 50s were fun to play and I really am not sure how long they took.

Two others I like playing, or liked, both have kb issues which irritate others, or at least irritate me when I'm playing scrapper. RttC and suddenly no one around my makes for the lameness.
  23. I'd like to bring Betty Forever, AR/Dev, 38.

With a last name like Forever, she really needs those clothes.
  24. I've got the flu so take me off the list. Thanks.

    [edit] Ad hominem abusive

Ad hominem abusive usually involves insulting or belittling one's opponent, but can also involve pointing out factual but ostensible character flaws or actions which are irrelevant to the opponent's argument. This tactic is logically fallacious because insults and even true negative facts about the opponent's personal character have nothing to do with the logical merits of the opponent's arguments or assertions.
