Well you might say that Rest is just a "Self Heal" or "Self Recovery" power like any other. Yet for some reason it gets the shaft when it comes to set IOs. Of course it wouldn't appear to be the mule I thought it would be so I suppose it's just as well.
-
Quote:Prior to i18, you would have to use rest every two minutes to keep the buff from any of the heal set special IOs. they re Proc120 types.
However, since i18, proc120s turn off (ONLY in toggles, mind you) when the toggle they are slotted in is turned off. So now they would be a real poor choice for that spot.
Anyway, they didn't want people to use Rest to mule IOs.
Is that right? Pretty heavy. Good thing it won't take that Regenerative Tissue then, because I'd have wasted it for sure!
Althogh I notice that Brawl WILL take set IOs. What's the deal with that? -
Ive been having a blast with the alignment missions and especially the morality missions (I wish all the missions in CoH were like these). Anyway, I just did the morality mission for my main character and was totally surprised to find ME throwing clawed punches at myself! This blew me away definitely one of the coolest surprises Ive experienced in game.
But what the hell was going on? The mission ended right after I talked to myself, and it never explained why I had a double or anything. Plus, the other morality missions Id ran up to that point were extended dance mixes with all sorts of bells and whistles; lots going on and very exciting. But this one was over just as it was getting interesting. Other than the wow factor of having to battle myself, there wasnt much to it.
So I guess I have two questions.
1. Who was that handsome devil and why was he trying to kill me?
And
2. Did I miss something? I ran through the rest of the office, but didnt see jack (except for more Malta dudes). I thought I read everything but Ive got a lousy internet connection and maybe a bit of info got eaten by lag.
(Oh, and if you havent ran this particular morality mission yet, I guess I should alert you that this post may have included a spoiler. SPOILER ALERT, I think they call it. Anyway, you probably should have averted your eyes.) -
I'm glad we'll be able to slot Health and Stamina when they become inherent (as opposed to just having our base regeneration and recovery increased). I always wondered why we're not allowed to slot End Mod or Heal set IOs in Rest though. To me, that default slot looks like it wants to hold a Regenerative Tissue unique. Seems like it would fit right in there too. No butter or nuthin.

I love the way the cars in CoH look. My favorite comics are those from the 70's and early 80's and the cars in CoH look to be from that era. I also like the way the T-shirts in CoH are skin tight, just the way they were drawn in comics back then. It's too bad we don't have bell bottoms for male characters as well.

Quote:Ditto.Well 600+MB is a whopper of a patch. If I start now on dial-up I don't think I'll have it when GR/I18 launches.
Times like this I wish for broadband in my area.
Although I'm wondering, if I purchase Going Rogue, won't the disk contain most what I'm downloading in this patch anyway? -

I don't mind some movement, but the spinning around annoys me. I never got the obsession with Equilibrium. To me, the epitome of dual pistols is Chow Yun Fat in John Woo films (A Better Tomorrow etc). And while there is a lot of movement in those films, it's not so much "on the spot" in the way the current DP animations are. Unfortunately, there's not really any other way to have movement in game, leaping to the side guns blazing doesn't work with the way CoH does powers.
Oh, and don't get me started on Bullet Rain aka Attack of the Killer Bees....
I think twirling around like a ballerina (even with guns) is lame, and unless I was being paid at least five bucks, I would never ever do this. It's a pity that the dual pistols animations are based on gun-fu disco movies and not on a real macho he-man flick like Last Man Standing. Now that was good stuff. Especially that part where he shoots that one guy. -

People are sheep. If one build is considered to be the "best" by the majority of players, then I'd better have that build as well so I can be the best too. In doing so, I don't have to put forth any effort of my own, and am cool by association. Just like wearing a popular type of jacket gives you a certain degree of acceptance in the hip crowd. It's not like you MADE the jacket - hell, depending on how old you are, you probably didn't even BUY the thing. But if all the other kids are playing fire/mm blasters and wearing GUESS jean jackets, then by god, you'd better be doing the same thing, or we'll kick you from this TF!
Nothing like conformity for fitting in...
(Sorry for the reference to GUESS jean jackets. I have no idea what kids are wearing these days over their tattoos) -

Not even if it was free admission and Stephanie Peebles appeared topless.

Like you said, Samuel, the smaller attacks do seem to burn more endurance over time, so I generally slot those attacks with more endurance reduction, and my heavier attacks with more recharge. I figure with the end I save by spamming my low-level attacks, I can afford to light off my heavies more often.

Quote:I had my XP turned off for the most of it and pretty much played for kicks like I always do. I did like the overall frenzy, though. There's something about 2XP/reactivation weekends that makes the game feel festive.
I usually turn XP off during double XP weekends as well (or run a 50).
The OP makes some interesting points, I think. -
I wouldn't say they don't "do" anything. I got a ticket the other day in Founders Falls for not scooping up the loaf my Rikti Monkey left on the sidewalk. They do stuff, you just have to clean it up when they're done.

Quote:Okay, I've noticed a trend on the board lately... people who had registered either recently, or within the past 2 years (around the time that NCSoft bought out the game from Cryptic), that have less than a dozen posts... coming "back" to the boards and posting negative things.... or asking pointed and/or rhetorical questions about the status of the game, the age of the game, and whether it's "dying" or the servers being "ghost towns".
I won't name any names here, but if you look around you can see them. People with extremely low post count who come out of nowhere and suggest strongly that the game is DOOOOOOOOOOMED.
My conspiracy theory? That they are either employees of "that other game" or are hired by that other game as some form of corporate sabotage in an attempt to alter the general mood of the playerbase and to try to "kill" the game by attrition. By creating a negative environment and alter the discussion about the game in the direction of it "dying".
They also almost never respond to anyone after making their original posts... and sometimes just make another thread in another part of the boards saying something similar instead. suspicious? I think so.
This I strongly suspect.
As someone with a low post count, I'd just like to say that CoX is a great game. I like it even better than food or going to the toilet (two of my favorite things). If CoX is dying, then I want to be buried with it, I love it so much.
I just wish they'd merge the servers.
(Edited to clarify that merging the servers is a bad joke) -
Your character concept is offensive to me. The idea that drugs might grant super powers to someone is inappropriate for a T-rated game. If I saw that toon, I'd petition your ***. Drugs do NOT grant super powers.
Except Superdine.
And Rage.
Oh, and Excelsior
On second thought, never mind. Does anyone know where I can find a bong shaped like Positron's helmet? -
I'm on dial up and it sucks balls. Can I say "balls" on the forums? Anyway, the next time I buy a house, I'll be making damn sure it's in an area where high speed internet is available. And no zombies. I hate those.

I'd rather have the option to decline non-team buffs. Or at least the graphics. People spend a lot of time on their costumes and take pride in their heroes unique look. I go out of my way to turn off powers with graphics when I'm not on the job, or even disable the graphics altogether if possible (for sets like Invulnerability or Super Reflexes). So when I get hit with some unsolicited buff that sets my hero on fire or turns him into a pink ice cube, I often find myself wishing for Mystic Fortune's offer to "accept/decline".

Quote:Tonight it happened again, I was on as my petless thugs mastermind, Occult 45, who is going to be my big GR character, walking around with my dual pistols out, and folks were, once again, asking me if I was in beta, a dev, or worked somewhere else in paragon studios.
Dude, I saw you at the Chalet tonight! I totally beaned you with a snowball and knocked that white pimp hat you were wearing askew! That was some funny [censored]! At the time, I remember thinking that "Occult 45" was a pretty cool name though. Almost made me sorry I drilled you with that ball of ice and gravel. Almost. Like I said - that was some funny [censored]... -

Today I spent a couple of hours buzzing around the chalet with my new holiday jetpack, pelting folks with snowballs. I even used my second build to include Tactics so Id be more accurate (dunno if this helped).
Id try not to target anyone doing any kind of sitting or leaning emote though, and I did my best not to hit the same person more than once. And of course Id never molest anyone on a ski run.
Anyone standing around though (exiting missions, blabbing in the lodge, etc) was fair game for me. Oh its juvenile alright, and Ill admit Im easily amused, but holy monkey, whenever I hear that WHAP sound as their head snaps back, I very nearly piss myself with laughter! Im not trying to ruin anyones RP (most of my attacks are hit and run), but hey its winter, theres snow on the ground, we have the emote PIFF! Thats gonna leave a mark!
Nobody said anything to me about knocking it off, but if they had, Id have left them alone. Thats because Im a sweetheart. (No, Im not the guy from the OPs encounter, though I thought I might be when I read the thread title ) -
When I first started playing, my rule was that by level 6 I'd have a bio written. The logic being that it would take that long for me to determine whether or not I'd botched the costume in some way (got tired of re-writing bios after realizing my shirt was on inside out).
Nowadays most of my characters have their bios by the early twenties. The ones that don't are in my head, but I'm too lazy to write them. In any case, if a character makes it to SO level and doesn't have a bio yet, I'm probably not playing him very much. I dont' have any characters over 25 that DON'T have bios.
After i14, it seems the character bio section went all bonkers. I thought they fixed it with the patch that let us break text into paragraphs again, but the deal you described with the phantom characters appearing still exists. I also notice that some paragraph breaks won't delete (they'll stay there forever like some kind of text-based STD). Plus, every time you double space after a sentence, the second space will count as like 5 characters! Hard to get used to single spacing after a sentence. Anyway, some angel of the forums sent me a PM letting me know about "ctrl+a+delete" to clear the field and start over. That's a good trick, but very time consuming when you have to start over a dozen times. -
Some of the vet rewards are kinda crummy I'll admit, but seriously, I'd slap my own mother in the chops for the 66 month reward! Every character I have could potentially use those slots, whereas I'd have to make one with a specific theme if I wanted to have some baby clockwork (however adorable) following him everywhere.
