Sadly, this is not the case.

I am glad that my desire is not a lonely wish.

I mean, Ouroboros got Ramiel, so why can't the F Squad get reinforcements in a similar fashion?

I'll be sure to come up with backstories for them that paint them as equally exceptional people, too
I'm thinking your just answered a prior question regarding civilians coming into play. The provide, as in RL, great support roles or just bring specialized talents to the group. The list is probably massive. Technologists that provide specialized firepower(Assault Rifle) , Support (Kinetics), and the like. I suppose applying an only human base would help give some focus in design and concept.
I'm not sure if I'm on th right track, but I though i'd throw my hat in.
  4. Wow. After reading that I forgot about building characters and am just ready to read some more.
My mind is focused on the storyline. For example can incremental changes start to bring the original team back together in time for the final battle?

Oh sorry, I'll go back and look at you character development for the game and report later.

For some unknown reason this response sums up this entire discussion. I am now satisfied and I thank Samuel_Tow for starting it.

Again, I cannot say why. It is merely my gut.

Edit: Althought the suggestion for chest hair sliders and the like is appealing.

All too often - and this is rarely as true as questions of feminism - problems don't arise from lacking solution but actually from people not having a very good idea of what it is that they're trying to fix. Is feminism trying to fix the way fictional women dress? The way they behave? Is feminism even trying to FIX anything? What, exactly, is the problem?

That's not me issuing a challenge, but rather illustrating the point. A problem well-understood is a problem easily solved. It is when we're not clear what it is that we're trying to rectify that we start applying awkward, partial solutions that cause more harm than good and divide people as to how best to proceed. As such, most of what I'll be doing here is trying to put the "problem," generally speaking, in better, more concrete terms so that we're all on the same page
Good point. My tendency is to dig for root cause and let the solution be self evident. It is an automatic response. Wheter it was the right question? Well. That is quite difficult. Perhaps I should have not taken "The Hitchhilker Guide to the Galaxy" to heart so readily. I do tend to avoid the issue of feminism as the discussion, as you seem to also indicate, is a never ending shooting a moving target. To that point, I honestly respond that of my 25000 days on this earth, I really don't want to spend it chasing other people's tails.

But your raising this topic in this fashion has given me reason to pause and rethink. For which, I am grateful. So there has been an improvement as a result of this conversation.

Now I'm off to argue with a lady from the air conditioning repair shop. I will show show favoritism or mercy (not because of eqaul genders but because they're rippingme off an extrat $200 dollars).

I wouldn't be too sure. While I do not know your age. I sense that many of us have been around for much of the feminism debate. Which I consider a sub of the equality debate that has been prevalent for quite some time.

It is the collection of all of ideas that creates progress. And yes, this may be somewhat hopeful, and idealistic but it is the only way I see progress being made for the current generations. Although, I'm not wholly sure this is a feminist issue anymore. Others have mentioned that not having all options across the sexes as being the bugaboo and to this I would certainly agree. I see no reason not to have all options across the board.
As in RL, there will be some aesthetically pleasing and some not so. Such is the way of nature.

I seem to recall wanting to Batman from a 'trailer' not too long ago and IIRC Superman was looking ighty pissed at the end. I want to play that game (if it ever existed). </sarcasm>

Similarly, I saw a trailer for a certain game based in a galaxy far, far away that showed a large scale battle in a temple. Does the game look like that? Is the combat like that? No, it doesn't represent the game at all except what factions are in it, and the general idea behind the era.

This trailer isn't misrepresenting the game, it's taking dramatic and artistic license with the universe and doing things you can't do in-game for the sake of looking good. Hell, that's what most trailers show. In fact, the 'trailer' for the earlier Veteran Rewards showed characters walking, and we couldn't do that at the time. None of these 'complaints' are valid ideas for false advertising claims. All the trailer CLAIMS is that the game is going to be free to play, and that is true.

Really? It's a freaking trailer. It is in their nature to do things that aren't EXACTLY do able, or in the case of movies, to show things in a way just off from what actually happened.

Also, I don't think it implied PvP... I think it was simply more compelling to show a player-created villain using powers than instead to show a generic NPC doing the same. I mean, the trailer got to represent all three sides in one scene... backdrop is Praetoria and heroes are being attacked by villains. That is pretty much the premise of the game right now, nevermind that a player-made villain was standing in for an NPC.

I liked the trailer. I over-analyze EVERYTHING, and I had no problem with it as it is.

Also, LOL at the fact that it was implied that the trailer as it is breaks some law. WOW!
    Agreed!

But you shouldn't. You shouldn't see men making more skimpy outfits for women than women would. That you do see this, though, is evidence of a culture that has sexual attractiveness in the eyes of straight men as an integral part of being "a woman".
Although, I must consider what I see in real life. I can only speak for the Orlando area, where I live, but young women dress provocatively as many characters I see ingame. A recent stroll through FB has pstings from girls in rather extreme outfits and poses. These are self portraits. So I must, at least consider, the culture we are in. I see not much sense in laying blame. That is not productive nor a part of this focus.
I think it would be prudent to limit this debate and not suggest broader soical issues. We'll be here all day.
I suppose the costume creator could have some changes. But I'm not sure. I am loathe to dictate what someone wants to create. I am accepting this discussion within the context of drawn characters in stories. As, Samuel has stated it is something to reconsider. And I too am guilty of prepuscent pleasure on occasion. But, to our credit, it is the exception and not the rule.

So yes I am minimizing the discussion somewhat to the occasional occurence. But to that end, a thougful consideration for animators and designers might be worthy for future published works.
  12. For the first time in this debate, I have heard an argument worth considering. To make this simpler, I wouldn't mind seeing a collection, or completed works, of what poses make the point.
A demonstration in the way of a comic or two would be something we should all be willing to read and consider with civility.
As My best stick figure drawing all seem to have the same pose (standing with some form of broken legs), I would welcome suggestions of comics and/or characters that make the point.

edit: After reading a little more, I must disagree with only one point. I'm not sure that demonstrative drawings would muddy the issue. As I am accepting the premise that the pose is producing the undesirable affect. To counter this, a collection of poses that indicate the intent of the character towards the current situation is the very context that should be established. The logos of incorporating the character into the story could be the impetus to softening the debate.

Thanks for bringing a well thought discussion amidst this sea of strangeness.

I have to go with this explanation as the most plausible. However, to add fuel to the fire.
    1. Thor always had an air of arrogance about him that could only be deemed acceptable if he was a god. Anything less and he's a bit of a jerk.

    2. A god's distinction, beyond some alien, is the final word (judge?) on life and death.
  17. I'd like to add to Ironblade's comment that, Ironblade is on Inifinity server and part of an excellent Super Group that, while not an RP group, has been very friendly and helpful in my several years being here. You are welcome to come seek out us out and enjoy the evening.
  18. PlanetStar was the first. An earth/Kin troller that came into being under duress (both in real life and in story). Although not my first 50, that privilage goes to a blaster by the name of BoltStar, PlanetStar had a long path. It took 18 months to get to 50. He was reborn as Satur Astri, a kheldian still slogging his way through the mire.

    Crashing in GR

I have been having a similar problem since ultra-mode kicked in. I was going with the assumtption that it was my video card either overheating or drivers.
As is seems now, after monitoring temperatures more closely my CPU is getting worked a lot more when playing and, as such, is over heating.
I cannot say that is your problem, but you may want to, at least, consider those areas. My uneducated guess is that GR (and more pointedly, the new graphics) is really separating the chaff from the wheat as far as our systems are concerned.
