It's JPG. Unless there is a way to save it as something else with a lower size, which I don't think there is, it's staying above 150kb

And honestly, the hostility is not needed.

If it is over 150 KB you can now use offsite linking so you could upload it to flickr or photobucket.

It is a very possible that if the image didn't come over from the .com site that its over 150 KB. We didn't transfer any of the large images.
So then you're saying that the .com has a larger restriction than the .net one?

That's pretty dumb, if you ask me. I happen to like Pinny's picture.
  3. Yeah...Uploading images on the new server isn't working for me. I'm trying to upload the very same image I have on my virtueverse.com profile, yet the .net servers get stuck on "waiting for ..." and then eventually give me a "page cannot be found" page. Afterwards if I try and go to the main .net site, the whole thing is down for me for a few minutes.

  5. Can I be part of group 3: doesn't bother because they know unless they're a min/maxed purple build they'll get destroyed by everyone. ?

Doesn't have anything to do with me hating losing, it's just a gigantic waste of time.
  6. Well first off in general: There is nothing wrong with people who don't want to PVP, so I don't know where some of you got that idea from.

I've participated in a few RPPVP events in the past, but that was mainly because some of my friends were also involved in it; if it was just me alone, I wouldn't have went. It was fun, but only one of my characters can actually stand their ground in PVP (WP brute), the rest are paper thin when it comes to the PVP crowd and powersets.

I can't speak for the changes to PVP, because quite honestly I don't know any of them because I never step into PVP apart from RPPVP events. I will say it's actually fun when both parties involved are doing it for the fun of it, but that fun gets ruined once you get stalkers who'll TP you up into the siren's call lighthouse and two shot you, or when people start TPing you into drones. I'll also go out on a limb and say IOs had something to do with it, too. Purple IO sets don't do anything to help the powersets that were already not so good in PVP, but make those that are good in PVP pretty much unstoppable. There isn't much you can do against a tanker or has their heal on a 10-15 second cooldown unless you too have the insane recharge needed in order to burst them down between heals, which can't be done unless you are also a FotM purpled out character.

If someone decided to bring out an RPPVP event I'd try it out, for sure, but I don't count on me doing much else from that.

There's a very noticeable difference between making new members feel welcome and like an addition to the group and completely ignoring them because they aren't important, at least compared to the veterans.

If your line of thinking is the latter, then why bother recruiting new members in the first place if you aren't going to acknowledge their presence?

I agree that alts are always a problem, but I've found if it's limited to 2-3 in a group then it's controllable, but not when someone makes 24 characters and puts all 24 in the exact same SG and tries to level them all up at the same time.

As for shyness: I'm also shy. I don't walk up to random people in real life or even on the internet and talk to them, that's just how I am. Heck, it even happens to me in my own group where I'm too nervous to start things. I've always thought of myself more as a follower than a leader, after all. Nothing wrong with it, it's just how they are. Make them feel comfortable, and eventually they'll warm up to the group.

Though to be honest, there is no way to account for every little thing that plagues SGs and activity. I tend to focus on two or three things at a time, so it's not that I'm "not accounting for" it's that I'm not touching upon those issues because I'm sure there are people out there much more knowledgeable about the subjects than I am who are better suited to talking about them.
  9. I think what's happening here is that people are expecting things of a SG that just can't happen. Now before you run up and beat on me about how activity and such is possible, hear me out.

I've looked over all these "what do you look for in a SG" and "SG looking for new members!" threads, and one thing ALWAYS pops up: Activity. I want a SG that's active! We want members who are active! Obviously this won't work for everyone, as SGs are commonly filled with people from different timezones (I know the one I'm in has western, eastern, central, european, etc etc) so some people will find it less "active" than others.

I guess the moral of my story is that you can't just expect SGs to be active just as a force. Step back a second and think: What are SGs made out of? People. People with different schedules, different playtimes, etc. You can't just walk in, say "I want a SG that is active!" and walk out expecting it to be so. If you join a SG, YOU are part of what makes it active. Want more people to log in? Start coming up with scheduled playtimes, RP events, etc, but make sure to PLAN THEM IN ADVANCE and talk to other people in the group so that you can find a time that can accomodate as many people as possible.

Complaining that your RP events or playtimes don't get anyone to join because it happens to be 9PM for you but 12AM for some, and 5 in the morning for others in the group? That's a lack of communication, not a lack of group activity or a sign that the group is "bad."

Make a concious effort to improve the group you're in; don't expect the group to revolve around what you want.
  10. So if 4 out of 8 bane attacks (yes, 50%) are ranged, that makes them a ranged righter in most peoples eyes...

Well 4 out of 8 bane attacks (yes, 50%) are melee, that makes them a melee fighter in my eyes.

The bane melee attacks do more damage than their ranged attacks, that makes them a melee fighter in my eyes.

Also, complaining about crabs having better AoE than banes? Moot point, because crabs are MEANT to have more AoEs than banes.

Redraw doesn't kill you. Broadsword, Dual Blades, Claws, Spines, Assault Rifle, Dual Pistols, Trick Arrow/Archery, and every other weapon set does just fine with needing to redraw. Suck it up and stop complaining just because the so called "Epic" AT isn't a powerhouse monstrousity.

You guys complain and try and compare Banes to stalkers and Brutes in a poor atttempt to justify these buffs, but guess what? Since when do stalkers/brutes, without the help of a APP/Patron pool, get the ability to give out 10%+ to defense, damage and tohit while being able to debuff the boss enemy? Since when can stalkers/brutes do all that while being able to hide, pull out an executioner's strike on the enemy, placate the tough enemy pounding on them to get a breather, and then if they decide to, go into range and hit an enemy with a toxic DoT that also gives a -def debuff?

Oh wait, stalkers and brutes CAN'T do that. Their leadership powerpools suck, only stalkers can hide and only very few sets actually have a ranged attack, and brutes can only really do any worthwhile debuffing if they choose ghost widow and get darkest night.

Heres the thing: Arachnos Soldiers (and I mean ALL of them, "huntsman" builds, bane spiders, and crab spiders) all have a diverse mix of offense and support, be it debuffing, buffing, etc. They are not going to be the very best in any of these areas because of how much they can do. If you don't like how you can't one shot everything, then roll a stalker, brute, or scrapper. If you don't like being able to do damage while giving out some buffs, then roll a defender or controller. If you want to tank; be a tank.

So yeah. Bane spiders are fine the way they are. Crab spiders are fine the way they are.

    ??

    AFAIK, special symbols that aren't ? = - _ + > < \ ] [ | } { / ` ~ !@#$$%^&*() aren't allowed in a name or their description.

Speaking of special symbols, anyone know where I can find a list of Alt+# inputs for them?

    i19 question

If you never ever respec a character that has fitness, then this change means nothing to that character. if you respec after the change happens, then you essentially get 3-4 free powers, but those 3-4 powers won't be getting very many, if any, slots.

So the way things stand just picture your character the way it is now exactly, only with an extra 3-4 powers to pick from that'll only have 1 slot.

    Mystery Origin?

Truth be told, I only ever pick Mutant or Magic. Occasionally I'll pick the others, but those two are my "mains" per-say.

The reason I pick them? Because I've gotten used to them and the names of the SOs, so I can find them easier, whereas with anything else, it takes longer to find what I'm looking for.

But besides that...My MA/SR fox is natural origin because she didn't get any powers from a mutation/science etc. My KM/Elec scrapper is tech, because her powers are from...Technology, who would have thought.

But to be completely honest and on topic: I don't care much for the origin you pick outside of what SOs/beginning arc you get. When it comes to RP a mutant origin character is no better off than a science origin character unless the RP in general deals with sciency stuff, etc.

If I absolutely have to, I look at the character's origins and then mold the story around it.

  16. Oh, I have to plan for it?

I thought I was just going to play exactly like I do now and do nothing different. Then when I19 comes and fitness becomes inherent respec my characters and grab some new powers.
  17. Only read the OP, but let me ask you this:

If you were playing a character that never killed. Ever. Then what would happen if you only knocked cleo unconcious? She'd wake up later, marauder would know and so would washington.

If you decided to help cleo and only knock washington unconcious? Washington would wake up later, knowing that you activly helped a resistance member, and you'd be sentanced to death.

    Oops, there goes your character.

So no, it's not "faulty writing" it's "Player who can't understand that this is how praetoria works so blames the devs instead of making a character to fit the setting." Because Praetoria is NOT Primal Earth. All Powers Division characters (IE YOU) are trained to kill. Yes, KILL, people if their crimes are too serious. In the Praetoria justice system (and you LEARN THIS from Washington, or one of the others, if you payed attention) You're allowed to kill somebody if their crimes are too great, and then present evidence of their wrongdoing later.

You cannot be wholly serious that swift makes your character run too fast?
    This
  19. Wait...Really?

Crap. I logged my character out in Talos Island.

    Did this just happen recently?
  20. Just something to remember: That 3% defense you get from a single IO? The game isn't balanced for that.

Miracle: +recov and Numina's: +regen/+recov? The game isn't balanced for that.

All those purple IO sets you have in your powers, giving you who knows how much bonuses? The game isn't balanced for that.

So yeah, is the game "too easy, even on +4/x8"? It's because the game isn't balanced for IOs. Without IOs my scrappers wouldn't be able to solo +0/x8, let alone +4/x8.

And I highly doubt the game is ever going to be balanced around everyone having purple IO sets, so if it's too easy, it's kinda your own fault :P
  21. Proof that people are complaining about this update just to complain and nothing else: People are now whining about having swift forced on them. Oh noes! You'll run slightly faster! it's the end of the world! The game'll become too easy now! I'll never be able to toggle on sprint to go faster again!

Seriously, this is just sad. If you like the issue (and you obviously do, if you're complaining about SWIFT, of all things) then why not just some meaningful discussion to the thread? Unless the only way to get a discussion going you know how to do is to complain and doomsay about something, in which case just don't post. That simple =/

    ----

When it comes to Incarnates, it's not like this issue is the only issue that will ever be focused on Incarnates. Theres still I20, and probably I21, I22, I23, etc. What I don't get is how does this "Alpha Slot" work? Do you get it just for reaching level 50 or something? I ask because they say this Alpha Strike task force requires the alpha slot, yet theres no mention of how to get the alpha slot or what it does.
  22. To people doomsaying about fitness being inherit.

Pretty much every character has stamina already, and those that don't are character types that don't use much endurance or already have a "stamina" of their own. All this is doing is freeing up some power/slot choices. Don't see how that makes the game any easier than already having stamina.

Unless of course being able to put 5 slots in boxing now makes the game soo much easier than it originally was.
  23. Speaking of all the kheldian hate...

I find human form peacebringers awesome simply because they're like a scrapper with ranged attacks. A squishy scrapper yes, but a scrapper nontheless. And their knockbacks aren't as bad as people try to make out.

    As for warshades...Bleh.
