Quote:Not sure what you were doing in Mids', but as I said earlier, even without using a single IO, a shield tanker with Deflection & Battle Agility + Combat Jumping + Phalanx Fighting + Weave has approximately 40% defense to Melee/Ranged/AOE.Not too sure... Those sound like scrapper numbers, but on the planning I've ever had for a shield tank, best I was able to come up with, even after slotting with IOs was 25%...
The defense from the two primary toggles alone is nearly 24%. -
Quote:I'm not sure why you're having trouble getting good defense from Shields on a tank. Tanker Shield Defense is probably the easiest powerset to softcap defense on in the entire game. Deflection & Battle Agility + Combat Jumping + Phalanx Fighting + Weave puts defense at approximately 40% without the use of a single IO. Add the Steadfast +Def IO and you're now at 43% defense. Getting the remaining 2% at that point is trivial.Shield Defense
Situational defense
Grant Cover is nice; has a nice def debuff resistance, as well as defense for your group
Shield Charge is freaking awesome. Not gonna lie.
Taunt Aura: Against All Odds. Gives you a +damage based on the number of enemies around you. Always a plus
Echo's Issues: I've found that this set can be very hard to get good defenses. Best I've every been able to do, even with planning software like Mids, is around 22-25% defense. -
Quote:OK, so since Flares is a requirement, what becomes the max DPS attack chain then?Best chain with Blaze, Charged Brawl, Havoc Punch and Shocking Grasp would be... Blaze, Charged Brawl, Havok Punch, Shocking Grasp.
Problem is you won't be able to get enough recharge by yourself to run this. Add Flares, Fireblast or Fireball into the mix and you can make it work.
Obviously, Blaze-CB-Havoc-Shock-Flares-repeat works, but that seems somewhat less than ideal as Blaze will be recharged while Shock is still animating and CB recharged right after that. Those being the two highest DPA attacks (especially with the Hecatomb proc in CB), I would think I'd be losing DPS by not firing them off as soon as possible after the time they recharged. -
I'm completely horrible at math, and calculating attack chains, so I'm hoping someone here can help me out with this.
What is the ideal single target attack chain for a Fire/Electric blaster using a combination of Blaze, Charged Brawl, Havoc Punch and Shocking Grasp? How much recharge is necessary for each attack to pull this off? -

Quote:I've noticed this as well.. What was changed? Enemy perception radius? Now I'm curious. I don't bother with stealth often either, but when I do, I've noticed that it... well, it hasn't been working very well. I've never bothered memorizing any stealth numbers, but the basic equation in my brain is "two stealths = invisibility". That doesn't seem to be the case recently. These days, while I can get near bad guys with two stealth's worth of invisibility, I can't spawn dance. I could swear I used to be able to spawn dance not all that long ago. Friend of mine had the same sort of experience with some version of invisibility - he just wasn't invisible. Very stealthy, but not invisible. I didn't worry much about it. Like I said, I never knew what my stealth numbers were, so I figured either I was remembering incorrectly, or they nerfed them. I don't often read patch updates, so stuff happens all the time that I don't know about. No biggie to me either way. I mean, how often do I need stealth? It's more to amuse myself than anything.
I can't really nail down when the apparent problem started since I use stealth so rarely. I'm thinking maybe a few months ago.
Or am I just smoking crack, and nothing changed here? Certainly possible too. -
Quote:I can vouch for PK on this..I HAVE no friends in game. I'm such a dick that no one will be my friend in game.
I'll also chime in and back him up on the fact that with only a little bit of effort, you can form a team on any server at any time. I've done it countless times myself on Protector, even at off-peak times like mid-morning on a Tuesday, both blue & redside.
What it really comes down to, is that most players who complain about this issue simply don't want to put forth the effort to start and maintain a team. I can sympathize with that to a certain extent. Sometimes it's just more fun to tag along and not have to worry about anything other than what is right in front of you. That sympathy evaporates pretty quickly though, when the whines & rants about 'dead' servers and 'never' being able to find a team start. -
Quote:Granted, I'm not on Pinnacle, so I don't have direct experience with your server. I do, however, play exclusively on Protector, which is also generally known as a low population server. If you couldn't find a team in 9 hours, and couldn't get anyone to help you with an AV mission, then you're doing something wrong. I don't know what precisely that 'something' is. Whatever it is though, the issue lies with you.Well, I've been on my server (Pinnacle) since launch day, so I'm not moving without all my characters and my SG base - which I don't see happening anytime soon. It certainly wasn't low pop when I picked it. I would have picked a different one if the name had been "watch the tumbleweeds roll by".
And I'm not talking about teams of 8. Sunday I played for 9 hours with LFG up and never saw an invite. When i finally needed to get more damage/debuff/whatever to take out 2 AVs I couldn't solo, it took another 2.5 hours to get 2 people to help - and to get them I had to give up asking people if they wanted to group and switch to asking people to do me a favor by helping out.
Maybe you're not using the available tools. Maybe you need to work on your delivery when sending tells to other players. Maybe you need to make some friends on your server.
Between global friends, global chat channels, and all the other ways to locate other players, there is no reason not to be able to put together a group for any task. -
Quote:This is exactly how I feel. I've always used the market and the IO system since the day I first started playing. It is (or was) a major source of enjoyment in the game for me. Now, it has just become a source of frustration that sucks the fun out of the game for me. I'll log on, start playing and having fun, then run to the market to sell some drops or grab some IO's for a new character, and the fun just comes crashing down. I end up just logging out and doing something else.Instead of playing more, I have been playing less. First because the market was down for an extended period. Rather than change how I stored/sold things, I just played less. Now, because the whole deal feels..."jumbled". Rather than deal with it, I've been playing less.*
This is the first time in two years I am seriously thinking about taking an extended break from City of Heroes due to problems with a new issue. -
Quote:Please note, this was NOT operator error. I've been using the market for two years. I am very meticulous when entering sell or buy prices. Even so, if what happened to me only occurred once, I would have chalked it up as a mistake on my part. However, the same exact thing happened to me twice in a row. The second time around I made 100% sure I entered everything correctly, in the right fields. I double checked before hitting the Post button. It still sold the wrong item.I did this same thing with old interface a few times as well (buying salvage I was trying to sell, listing things for way more than they were worth).
This problem is endemic to interfaces that combine different kinds of data entry fields into the same dialog. Frail humans in a hurry frequently mix up the different input fields.
The market interface does not work correctly. On top of just being a horrible interface, it still apparently has bugs. -
Today alone, the new & 'improved' market interface has caused me to lose several million influence by posting up items that I did not intend to sell, rather than the correct items.
First incident: Lost a 600K listing fee because of the wrong item being posted. Had two recipes sitting stored on the market. Crafted and dropped an enhancement onto the market for sale. Entered a listing price of 12 million for the enhancement, hit the Post button, and watched one of my recipes get posted for 12 million instead of the enhancement. Had to pull it right back down and eat the listing fee...
Second incident only a few minutes later: Same exact thing again. Except this time it cost me roughly 2-5 million by posting up something for less than it was worth, which instantly sold. I watched my steps VERY carefully this time to be certain I did not make a mistake the first time this happened. This time, I had a Numina:Heal recipe sitting on the market, dropped an enhancement onto the market. Clearly clicked on the price box for the enhancement and entered a price of 5.5 million. Very carefully clicked on the Post button, double checking to be sure it was, in fact, the Post button for the enhancement, and watched in disgust as the Numina recipe posted and instantly sold instead of the enhancement, for far less than it was worth.
As it stands, I am now completely afraid to use the market. -

This is absolutely unacceptable. I am now completely afraid to even touch the market. This time it was a fairly inexpensive item, and a loss of only a few million. I've got a fair number of purples and PvP IO's sitting around, and there is no way I'm placing any of them on the market under the current conditions. -

Well, the new 'improved' interface has now cost me inf. I just lost a 600K listing fee because of the wrong item being posted. Had two recipes sitting stored on the market. So, in your opinion, the devs have a better idea what is 'fair' value for an item than the buyers themselves, who play the game everyday? Seems that you have a very poor understanding of how the market actually functions, and your referring to it as "a horrid thing" certainly betrays quite a bit of bias. Let me guess. You're bitter because you can't instantly purple out your warshade by playing a couple hours per month?

Considering I can nuke, pop a blue, hit power sink and get right back in the fight, why would it appeal to me to be completely prevented from attacking for 20 seconds?? No thanks...
-
As far as I am concerned, the new market interface is pretty much a complete failure. It takes more work to do basic & simple stuff than the old interface. Biggest irritant is that apparently we can no longer search by categories of items. This one is driving me crazy. If I click on Recipes, all it does is fill the Search window with the word Recipes. I can't narrow the search at that point. If I type anything in, it just replaces the word Recipes and then searches every damn item in the database.
Terrible design. It's not simple. It's not intuitive. It's not easy to grasp. It will cause new players to avoid the market, in my opinion. -

Maybe I'm misreading, but I don't think that is what the OP is asking. It sounds like he is saying that even after logging off for 10 days, he is not getting a full 10 bars (1 full level) of patrol XP.

Quote:If they actually quit the team rather than just log out, the SF will scale correctly to the current number of team members. As long as two players remain on the team, the SF will continue. If one of those two quits the team, the SF will automatically end.You can do any of them if you get a few people to pad (usually far easier than finding team members) for long enough to start it, then have them quit. Of course, then you have to deal with the SF being scaled for more people, which may or may not be a problem. I think the Ouroboros ones are the only ones you can start with two.

Add me to the list.. Even with a 24" monitor, I need to lean in close to read the enhancement levels. It's a shame they didn't take the time to listen to all the complaints about this during beta testing.
