Quote:The only thing I won't try to usher out is a mosquito. I just flatten those. Blood sucking parasites. All manner of arthropod creep me out (especially centipedes - in one apartment I lived in there was a centipede that would come out of nowhere and do a couple of laps around my wall at the same time every night), but I'm generally happy to avoid them rather than destroy them when possible. Despite the fact that they (particularly spiders) seem to want to make my home their home. As long as they keep out of my personal space, I don't mind them, but some of them seem *determined* to invade my personal space. Even then, if I can orchestra a way to transport them outside that's my preference.

Quote:Brown recluse bites aren't THAT bad. I mean I guess it's kind of gross when you consider what is going on, but thats about the extent of it. I've never been treated for them ((I'm very stubborn about going to the doctor)) and they usually heal up pretty fast. Downside of exploring mountain forests I suppose. Not me doing this, but here's a shot of the same species I mentioned:
We have one of those, but we don't handle ours. We generally don't recommend handling tarantulas, it does nothing for the spider and could actually be harmful to it if it decides to jump. I'm not comfortable handling our girl, as she has a painful bite and is very flighty.
Next time my wife has one of our avicularia avicularia (common pinktoe tarantula) out, I'll try to get a shot of it crawling on me. They are one of a small number of species I'm comfortable handling, as they are usually pretty docile and not prone to darting off unexpectedly.
Here, this is our website. We breed tarantulas, and have a good bit of information on there as well: http://www.heartlandinvertebrates.webs.com/
I try to dispell the myth that tarantulas (and spiders in general) want to kill us whenever I get a chance to. Arachnophobia is a learned response, not an instinctive one, and I'm convinced that it can be unlearned as well.
There is only ONE dangerous spider in North America, the black widow. And they are only really dangerous to the elderly and small children.
The brown recluses and hobo spiders you see pictures of bites from? The people with those bites were idiots and waited too long to seek medical attention. If you're bit by one and go to the hospital right away, they really aren't any worse than any other spider bite.
For the record, neither the person in the picture or the tarantula came to any harm. From reading the thread the picture was posted in, she walked around for a few minutes and went back into her enclosure with no issues. Most of the time tarantulas are pretty laid back, only getting defensive when they feel threatened. We have a number of species I have a lot of respect for, but none that I am afraid of, because there is no reason to fear them.
My usual policy. Don't tick it off, and it won't try to kill you. Don't make it feel threatened, don't invade its home, and you'll be fine. This has served me when encountering copperheads, rattlesnakes, bears, bobcats. No idea what I ever did to tick of recluses, come to think of it... -

Meh. I enjoyed it, don't get me wrong, but it just didn't...light a fire, I suppose. While I get why, there wasn't enough Batman in a Batman movie I thought. To much time with Angsty Bruce, still angstin' years later and letting his family buisness go to pot. This is BATMAN. I can give him a year to deal with Rachels death, but it had been what, four? I can't even remember now, but WAY to long for that nonsense. Then the whole "Lets take away EVERYTHING Bruce Wayne has built up! And his Bat Arsenal!" The whole draining the Wayne Enterprise account was stupid, wedged in, and badly done. Its not like an ENTIRE market full of people didn't see what was going on, and they even HAD the computer. But nooo, "We have to make Bruce broke!" was for some reason an important plot point. You could have left that scene out ENTIRELY and it would have changed very little of the rest of the movie. The little 'romance' they wedged in was terribly done and out of nowhere ((Wait, Bruce? Didn't you just spend years upon years pining, and now you are just going to go out and jump some one else? ...o..kay...)) Banes plan was not only bad, but rehashed ((Yes I know why. No that doesn't make it any less stupid to go down in an explosive blaze of glory.)) AND with even less point since so much of Gotham had been cleaned up. And come ON. This is BATMAN. BATMAN. Batman does not simply ABANDON Gotham. And yet we get to see him having done so and do so AGAIN in the same movie.
Whoa. I guess I had more complaints then I thought. I still enjoyed it overall, and I really liked Robin and how he was introduced, but it had some flaws that stopped it from being great to me. Your mileage may vary, of course. -
Actually, people tend to hope that the nice answer and honest answer are the same thing. Course if you are giving some one that kind of option, then that clearly ain't the case. *Laughs*

Quote:See, now, at first she was just like "Aw, my little brother Annie." Which was fine, and made sense. Course he was crushing all over her, but she just sort of tolerated it. Then, after hearing how he murdered an entire sand raider camp, yes even the women and children, apparently she suddenly decides that he is REALLY hot. I guess women like bad boys...To be honest while Phantom had its problems (Jar Jar Binks for one) it wasn't that bad (no where near as good as the original trilogy but still watchable. The one that still has me shaking my head is Clone Wars.
Can someone explain how in movie 1, 4 whatever its supposed to be, Anakin is like 9 or 10 (if that old) and in Clone (clown) wars suddenly he's all grown up and courting the princess... who through some miracle of science doesn't look like she has aged a day? When Phatom ended did she decide.. " Hey that Anakin Skywalker is a great guy. I bet he'll look really HOT when he's older. I think I'll have myself frozen so I can date him when he's like 19." lol Of course we can also add that in all those years mentoring the future Darth Vadar Obi Wan looks alomst the same except we added a beard and slightly longer hair.. "Hey that makes him look decades older right? Umm wrong George
A new hope wasn't much better but by then my expectations were no where near a high .. I simply had to go and see them show HOW Akakin became Darth Vadar.
In reality, that was my major problem with the second film. The...romance? Was just sort of wedged in. 'LOOK! LOOK! NOW THEY ARE IN LOVE! THIS IS WHERE LUKE AND LEIA WILL COME FROM!" And it...didn't really work for me. -

THEM. Thank you, yes. The police boxes fit the feeling of the Drudges and the general area. What with the police outfits and the lamplighters and I think they even talk in that period London style. But I might be misremembering that part. So even though it makes complete sense, I still like to think its a Dr. Who nod.
Edit: Something just occured to me...this is Praetoria. Where a lot of things are reversed. And whats the usual reversal for Blue? -
Not sure if you got it or not, but that was a Dr. Who joke. They tend to make mention of the fact that the TARDIS looks like a police box, but when you step inside its essentially an entire building. So yes, I am all for some of them being mission doors.
-
Why is Queen of the Damned not on that list? Absolutely TERRIBLE followup to Interview with a Vampire.
-
Quote:Its bigger on the inside.Would be funny if the started appearing as mission doors.
That being said, those police boxes go along with the theme of the...gah...what group in that area...not the watchers...but the lamplighters and such, the very Londonish looking police force and what have you. But the TARDIS is always the first thing I think of when I see one. -
Quote:Haven't teamed in a long time, but my favorite moments were always the "OH !^#$!!!" ones. Where SOMETHING goes wrong, and suddenly everything is chaotic. Where you have to think on your toes, and psuh every button you've got to come out on the other side. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But the important thing is to enjoy it, to laugh at it.There are players that, when I've teamed with them, do not play anywhere remotely close to optimally. They'll do crazy, silly, amazingly bananas thing - and so will I - because we all know we can recover from anything bad that might happen. Someone dies, no big deal: the team can tolerate a death or two. Accidentally pull an extra group, not a problem. The team can adapt because every player on it knows when they can goof off and when they need to put the serious hat on for a few seconds because of excrement-induced turbine malfunction.
When everything goes absolutely perfectly, and perfection is expected of me, I'm either playing with robots or doing a Master run of something. When everything goes barnstormingly berserk and everything ends up still fine, I'm playing with skilled players.
It takes no skill to play the game, and only a little skill to beat the game. It takes a lot of skill to get the most out of the game, entertainment-wise.
If you achieve the level of skill necessary to avoid problems, but never seek to achieve the level of skill necessary to deal with them constantly, I personally think you're missing out on one of the best reasons for playing an MMO with broken superhero mechanics. -
Er, not to step on your toes Plainguy but the point was to ENJOY the Mastermind, not for it to be min/maxed and 'workable'. I get what you are saying, mind, but it's a mastermind. Any combination is doable. The point is, what can spice it up for the OP so that they actually ENJOY the AT, not what will be best. Course the OP might enjoy that, and I may be totally off base here. *Shrugs*
-
My advice? Pick up the personal attacks. I know a lot of people say not to, but it gives you something to do when you are not busy healing or buffing or debuffing. Honestly, I can't imagine playing a mastermind without the attacks.
-
-
A skilled player is some one who knows what to do, when to do it, when NOT to do it, how to improvise when things go wrong, and when to run like hell. But a person can be a skilled player, but a terrible team mate. Part of being 'skilled' is knowing how to interact with the people around you, and not just forsaking everyone around you.
-
More or less this. Right now my Medic is generally the last of my T1's to die. He's still not really super effective, but he does an alright job.
-
-
How about munitions for masterminds? That'd be nice.
-
All three personal attacks apply -hit debuffs, and life drained works as a semi-decent self heal as well. It depends though. If you end up spending to much stamina on attacks it can be a detriment to the whole survival bit.
-
And considering that we've been getting new content and new powersets at a decent clip? I'd say it's doing very well overall.
-
That tends to be the time I need it most, tho'. I mean AoE -def and -res do help make mass fights faster, but any help I can get in taking down EB's and AV's is definitely welcome.

Quote:None of what he said was an attack, none of what you quoted was even attack worthy. Get your knickers out of a knot and calm down. Most people here have been supportive of the idea SO LONG AS IT DOESN'T REPLACE THE CURRENT IMPLIMENTATION. What is wrong with that? What part of "Hey, we can both have what we want!" caused you to go into this little passive aggressive fit?Thank you for the positive feedback(sarcasm). I am getting really sick and tired of coming into these forums and getting reactions like I just kicked their dog and insulted their moms. I am really sick of people thinking I am attacking them when I either make a suggestion or ask a stupid question. I am not asking you to justify anything to me, just asked a STUPID question to help me understand why such a thing would not BE a good idea so then I can drop it. If your having a bad day, DO NOT TAKE IT OUT ON ME! Attitude like this is why in the years I have reading the forums I never posted much if at all because people think this is World of Warcraft forums that any suggestion is stupid and a personal attack and that they need project it at the OP. Fine I will remain silent and not post again, give any ideas or suggestions or an opinion because some people get upset(had to clean it up) over it and recommend to others not to post too.
