Merc question

I was wondering if the medic in mercs is still suicide?

I had a merc/poison back before i9 and loved him.
Only down side was the medic running in to punch a guy then start shooting.
Is this still an issue?

I'm thinking this set will pair well with nature provided they all stick with range and avoid melee.

even droids run into melee....

I dont mind pets running into melee, I do not see why everyone makes a big deal out of this.

My Mercs do fine even when they occasionally run into melee.

Not everyone plays Ninja/* or Beast/* ...

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

More or less this. Right now my Medic is generally the last of my T1's to die. He's still not really super effective, but he does an alright job.

I think they fixed the Medic awhile ago. Brawl is still listed as a power but he does not use it at all anymore. I have not seen him run into melee for the past few issues. The only time I see him move is when a target is out of range for him to attack. He will move to within range, park himself there and keep shooting until something is dead. Hopefully not him.

@Redlynn

Nah, I mostly use Mercs (and the occasional zombies).

@ricohdah

All of the pets still use Brawl.

Well what setting and what secondary ?

If your running Merc / Traps and running 4/8 lets say I don't see that being a successful or positive experience. If your running 1/1 then yea it's not a big deal for anything.

So I think difficulty setting matters as it relates to how big of a deal it is or isn't.

Of course I don't need to tell you Zombies and Beast win out in that department against regular mobs.

*sigh*

So situational...

Merc/Storm MM running +2/x2 with Bosses; No AV.

Besides I hardly think difficulty matters since "default" +0/x1 means "normal mode" and Mercs/ performs well enough (damage rises and drops depending on the Secondary which is noticeable)

Ok. Thanks guys.

I've been playing a beast/Nature which is nice so far.
I might make a Merc/nature anyway. See how it goes.

I don't see how someone can play Mercs and think running into melee isn't a problem. It makes them take more damage, cycle attacks horrible, and only hit one or two enemies with cones.

Played around and the Medic is Brawl-free. Here's a video I made of the Medic staying perfectly put for 3+ minutes fighting a pylon. Currently uploading, view it in an hour: http://youtu.be/0KtGeMht2-Y

Why does it matter if the medic suicides? I would be more worried about Commando living than the lowly medic.

Mercs have always been on the low end of MM's. I retired my merc/dark for a couple years now. Just no reason to play him when all the others are better. I liked them at first, til i tried other mm's and saw how mercs have a disadvantage.

I'm just going to let these two lines sit together. Maybe let the gears get going.

Uh huh...
I manage to do this within 10 seconds...

Even if they didn't have Brawl they'd still run in. The second tier pet in Robotics has no melee attacks whatsoever, not even Brawl, and it still runs in to melee if it runs out of things to do at range. It needs an AI change, not a power change. Mercs, Ninjas, maybe beasts and necro all need power changes as well.

Can you do that while he's upgraded?

No, which is a good thing to know.
