  1. Fire/Thorn turned out be a surprising effective dominator both in terms of damage/control/solo and team. I suspect you could say that about a lot of doms so let me add that if you chose to go this route, you should enjoy melee action first. Thorn's possesses some great short ranged/melee powers such as thornburst/thorntrops/Barrage/skewer and Ripper making it an underrated melee set imho. You can fit a lot of procs into the thorn set as well. Chief among these procs are the achilees heel -RES and the purple PBAOE proc for knockdown (forget name). It's a late blooming conbo (as some doms are apt to be) but the final result is soild, rare and fun to play.

Oblits in Blazing Aura = moderate fail. The reason? Oblits provide poor end redux and blazing aura is an end heavy toggle to run. Consider Multi-Strike for the great stats and decent set bonus OR eradication for similar reasons. Oblits are a mistake imho.
  3. My vote. Go Brute. With enough investment you can rival the toughness of a TANK, while with the tank, you'll never put out as much damage as a BRUTE. So if you think you're going to really invest in and play with this toon alot, go Brute for some epic power.

    P.S.

I have a 50 IO'd DM/Fire/Soul brute that has 42% def to melee, 20% to ranged, 45% recharge and generally wades through masses of enemies (exception: Red Conning LongBow and Aracanos).
  4. Ugh, I could shoot myself. I was logged in that night and was respec'ing my toon. After I came out of it, I saw the invite for the all defender ITF (I was on my FF/Dark/Psi). After reading this thread I'd be really interested in seeing if people here would be interested in starting an all defender SG. I know a few years back RO was was out and about but I haven't seen or heard from hobo healer in many many months. Let me know what you kids out there are thinking about this.
  5. There's a decent line from "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" that I think applies here. The male lead character was writing some meloncholy vampire themed rock-oprea for a while and it just wasnt clicking so he kind of just forgets about it for a while. At the movies conclusion we see him performing the rock opera only it's been switched to a comedy. The male lead says, "It really opened things up". So, I think Bill has it spot on here. Play the bomb.
  6. You're a Traps/Sonic...

    Step 1: Siren's Call
    Step 2: ???
    Step 3: Profit
  7. I think it's a great idea and I would gladly join your troop if only I lived closer by. I'm a mostly casual gamer with a recent focus on Magic(tm) the money pit. I've played Warhammer table top games (also expensive!) and tried to get into hero clix (thanks for changing the rules...bums). If anyone is in the New England area please drop me a line and let me know, maybe we can get somehting together.

    best solo brute

War Mace/SD brute. When moneys no object you should srsly consider pimping out one of these bad boys.
  9. I'm in a bit of a pickle fellow Domineers. I've got a level 43 Ice/Elec that I've wanted to respec for a bit and with the new epics we were granted access too, I figured what better time than now. My first though was to go Ice Mastery for the sweet goodness that is Sleet and Ice Storm. I understand these powers are likely nerf bait and wont remain uber epic for long...but they still fit thematically... Which brings me to my second issue, the pyi epics! I was looking at them and they have WoC (world of confusion) and Link Minds...Will WoC stack with Arctic Air enabling me to confuse bosses in one tic? Will the confuse from WoC be affected by Domination!? WHere can I look for this info1!1!!1?

    Tks
  10. Elec Melee is, in my opinion, the best teaming primary a stalker can invest in. I run on an Elec/Nin build but I don't see the */Regen piece being a deal breaker. The real power of elec resides not only in it's epic AoE potential but also in the way in which it delivers that AoE.

My attack chain begins with Telestrike(tm) for the lucious AoE dmg and the knockdown. The important aspect of this power for a stalker is that it DOESNT BREAK YOUR stealth. This allows you to then lanch another attack while still "hidden" and score crit hits en masse with your next AoE attack (I like to follow up with ball lightning). This should destroy most minions (assuming you used build up prior to attack) and let you focus on the LT and bosses still standing. I usually placate a boss and AS it. You may find that you like to placate than then use a 3rd AoE for further mass crits.

    DM/Fire?

My very first brute! Overall, it was a dissappointing run in retrospect. While the 2 sets mesh fairly well, CoV side really kicks this pair around the gutter. End drains, slows, psi damage are all a bit more request red side and Fire has zero protection aganist this. If I had to do it over again I would've picked other pairings.

    BS Mace Redraw?

Could someone on the boards enlighten me as to wether or not Black Scorpian's Patron Epic powers will cause redraw on my WM/WP Brute. I'm approaching level 40 and wanted to stick with BS for thematic reasons but not at the cost of further redraw! Thank you in advance for the help.

    Ice/Dark Tank

I've got to disagree with 2nd poster! I maxed S/L def first (not too hard to expensive) and then focused on +recharge for Perma Dull Pain and the +End/+def power (forget its name currently). The +recharge will also help you get soul drain up that much quicker. The Dull Pain clone with add +regen by default so it's better to focus on having it up as much as possible. Just my 2 cents.
  14. Have to agree with OP. I have a 28 WM/Shield Brute and it makes the Pre-IO period managable.
  15. Zomg...the pure, unadulterated win of Grav/Traps staggers the mind. That combo has the potential to make even TIME BOMB useful/fun.

Trip Mine (+3) > Time Bomb > poison trap > Caltrops > Wormhole > AoE immbolize = aneurysm.
  16. I'd go /ELA over /Fire Armor nowdays. With Electric Armor, you can LAUGH OFF energy damage, slows and end drains. These types of resists are hugely helpful in the late game when just about every mob types has at least 1 of these debuffs. Additionally, Claws has a build in 20% endurance and recharge discount. As you might well be aware, electric armor has an additional 20% recharge bonus. So you're already looking at a 40% recharge bonus for your attacks right out the gate. This means you can spam your heavy hitters more frequently and for less endurance. How does an attack chain of FU, Focus and Evis sound?

Electric armor will also provide good resist numbers to most types of damage, has a tier 9 god-mode power and can sap enemies of their endurance during long fights. It also has a damage aura power which helps maintain aggro and unlimited endurance recovery with power sink. You might have heard that with issue 16, elec now has some decent +Regen and a mild heal. The over all package is robust, visually appealing and fun to play.

    Billz,

Why EA when ELA is getting the "fix". Think how teh sexy Claws/ELA will be with the Talsorian Claws in red.
  18. I'd imagine your thesis is correct. I'm currently running a DM/Shield (w/fighting pool) and he's fairly beefy. I've also created a SD/SS/Pyre Tanker that is softcapped and has about 55% +recharge. The time spend with double stacked RAGE is good times. I look forward to running around on a DM/SD/Blaze Scrapper.
  19. Since when are Scrappers getting Pyre Mastery?
  20. Good call on "Fissure". I was thinking in terms of the Tanker version. The controller version would make more sense in terms of balance. I still hope it comes with some KD so it can be chained with Tremor/Earthquake/Mallets/AirSuperiority.

P.S. So no one else is even midly shocked they gave the set PB? (If you haven't guessed, I'm really quite amazed).
  21. Oh, looks like Stone Spears will cause KU (knockup) rather than KB. Very nice.

Again I find myself shocked that Castle & Crew put Powerboost in the set. The set already has oodles of soft-control. Can't wait to PB them all.

I don't see it posted anywhere else, but if it's already been posted, my bad.

I was at Comic Con today and got to play with the new character creator.

That includes seeing the Earthen Assault powers, and they are

    1. Stone Spears (4 sec rech, 2.1 sec animation)
    2. Stone Mallet
    3. Tremor
    4. Hurl Boulder (8 or 10 sec rech, 2.5 sec animation)
    5. Power Boost
    6. Heavy Mallet
    7. Seismic Smash
    8. Mud Port
    9. Fissure

    [/ QUOTE ]

If this man is speaking the truth...

Stone Assault is going to be AWESOME (and massively end heavy).

I thought I had read somewheres that Castle wasn't a fan of Power Boost?

I'm also finding it hard to believe that they're putting Fissure in there? Perma Mag 6 stuns FTW? Throw Tremor in there and you've got perma KD. I guess they weren't kidding when they said SA was the "TANK" of Dom Assault sets.

Oh, and one more thing occured to me. Hot Feet/Arctic Air + Mud Pots? Really? My gawd.

heheh....I'm staying away from this one. I can get behind Katana, Broadsword, and Martial Arts.....but bananas? Noty.

According to BaBs there's gonna be 2 new skins for spines for i16 so there's still hope!

Edit: doh Helin beat me to it!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I didn't know about that and seeing as I have 2 50 Spiners, I'm very excited now! lol

    [/ QUOTE ]

OK Spines fans, gather round and listen closely. WE DO NOT WANT THE DEVS LOOKING AT SPINES! Castle has said in the past that he was 'reluctant' to even look at the set for fear of finding serious balance issues. If Spines were to get ported over, they'd have to be nerfed in some way, shape or form! Let's not ruin a good thing in our haste for br00te goodness. Claws are good and claws are great! Let's all go out and celebrate! Hooray!
  24. Cap the defenses first I'd argue. Perma Dull Pain is good. Getting hit only 5% of the time is better.
