Ice/Dark Tank

Made an ice/dark tank a while back and have no clue what to slot for. Should I take hibernate? How good is -movement and -to hit against any AV(even with their big status and debuff res)?

-tohit may help a bit but -movement will not, yes take hibernate, taunt then use it when things go sour, slot for +hp, +regen and +rech set bonuses first, then if you want try to cap s/l def

I've got to disagree with 2nd poster! I maxed S/L def first (not too hard to expensive) and then focused on +recharge for Perma Dull Pain and the +End/+def power (forget its name currently). The +recharge will also help you get soul drain up that much quicker. The Dull Pain clone with add +regen by default so it's better to focus on having it up as much as possible. Just my 2 cents.

although i do see the point in that, as a tank you would be receiving external defensive buffs more than others, having a higher base hp and regen may be more assistable as hoarfrost could be saved for emergencies as a large heal, unless you can get enough recharge to perm it, then yeah go for s/l first

They resist most of the tohit debuff, a lvl 50 should resist 85%+ roughly otomh, then with movement, simply use immobs and/or -fly. Just them two really but that'll mean acquiring from pools.

Hibernate is good as its a second wind panic button, you can still keep aggro however you want to be done with regen and end rec before you lose taunt control. It's pointless trying to get it to rechg any faster due to the no phase period being the exact amount of time as the base rechg.

Well, if you're the kind who depends on outside buffs, sure. But why take up the defenders focus from your squishier teammates?

I would second capping your S/L defense. But also the E/N as well. Both caps are easy to get. Then recharge. Why bother getting HP bonuses when Hoarfrost will cap you anyways? Especially if you get accolades, then HP bonuses become even less necessary. Defense and Recharge on an Ice/ are all that's needed.

Just make sure to frankenslot Energy Absorption to max out the end mod/def/rech abilities as much as you can. It's not hard to get those near the ED cap using that method.

You could cap those by using three Membrane Exposures and three generic Endmods. That's an option for those who've reached level 47+ anyway.

True, but Membranes currently range from 40-80 million a piece and are extremely low in stock and high on demand. There are faster, less expensive ways to get items to achieve the goal. Though, that way would get all the way to the ED cap.

Can anyone post a build that's cheap and will softcap my tank?
