  1. What if ice cream came only in the flavor purple?

What if political debate was confined only to Thursdays between 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM?
  2. The most money I've spent is on my EM/SD scrapper, which softcaps defense while adding massive recharge... four purple damage IO sets, one set Panacea, Glad Armor 3% defense, around 5 Enzymes, 5 LotG, 4 x Basilisk Gaze... pretty much across the board expensive stuff. And fun to play.
  3. I PL'd my new StJ brute from 26 to 31 tonight. I broadcast (in a private channel) to see if any of my friends wanted to join, but no one responded. It was a quiet night.

Generally I only PL for myself or friends though.

Then I managed to find a toon of mine who still had the "Defeat Snaptooth already" mission, and I got my new brute a toga. I asked if anyone wanted to join for that too. No response.

Then I ran five tip missions. I also took the time to partially IO my toon with level 30-34 set IOs.

Then I opened up my LFG window and queue for a Death From Below sewer trial. And that got me within a bubble of level 32.

I'm guessing some of those farmers you're looking for are playing their own StJ toons or PLing them.

And I should also point out that I would have done TFs instead if any of my friends had been around. Part of the reason I was 26 in two days was from a number of sewer trials followed by Sister Psyche (Tuesday) and last night we ran Citadel.
  4. Working from the theory that A) I'm currently addicted to flashy shiny new costumes, especially the nifty Celestial stuff, and B) Why can't a goddess also be a down and dirty street fighter? I created the following (although I'm sure it's not quite what you were asking for):

  5. More importantly, while 4 points protection is good for much of the game, 8 points protection does not cover very much more than that. Most people advocate 4 points or if you really want as much protection as possible, go 12 with karma/steadfast/BotZ.
  6. My only StJ is /shield... so I guess I hadn't thought of it. But my animations have looked like other people's animations as far as I've noticed.

So then I asked my friend to make a group and make sure that he allowed in-progress joining and that the group was listed as "open" and he sat there for about 45 minutes without anyone joining the group. So we asked a few other friends to hit the LFG tab and try to enter the queue, and after 30 more minutes we gave up, none of us could get into a group with the LFG queue, no one could get others to join our group by making an open group in the LFG tab.

The only way I can see to get into a sewer trial is to just join a group and then when you have all the people that you want, hit the queue. At least that works.
I've joined sewer trial teams about six times or so now just by clicking the LFG and joining the queue. The longest it's taken me is a few minutes. But this is on Virtue during peak play hours.
  8. There aren't any "powersets you must buy". You get points every month as part of your subscription, and you can use them to pick up a new powerset if you want, and never pay anything extra. There is no "must buy" about it.

Now want to buy, want to buy now! I can understand.

But if I were the Devs I wouldn't give away another new power set ever again. It goes against their current business model.

    Whoa! When did that happen?

I'm still trying to get used to this sliced bread thing!

Amen. I own two level 50 fire melee scrappers, one level 50 electric melee, two level 50 katana, one level 50 broadsword, four level 50 martial arts, one level 50 spines, one level 50 super strength brute, one level 50 dark melee brute, one 50 claws brute... along with many level 20-40 variations on these and the other melee sets available, and I'm very happy to have something NEW to play with.

Lest we forget, people on these boards have been begging for a more "street fighting" martial arts / punch and kick style melee set since the game began. But give people exactly what they want and someone somewhere is going to complain anyway.

Seriously, if you made it hands-down the very best melee set in the game, people would complain. I might be one of them, in fact, because mudflation is generally a bad thing. And I have a theory that you could make a "Thought Melee" set where your character stands there and does nothing, has no animations, and if it did better AoE damage than any other melee set then some people would declare it awesome.

By all means, roll up another super strength brute if AoE damage is the only thing you care about. I'm going to be having fun with my new St.J brute.

Maybe we should start the titan weapon and staff melee complaint threads now? Why wait?

But this thread has been very entertaining at least.
  11. So you're saying it's a fun set with more AoE than Martial Arts, and the AoE caps at the same number as nearly every other AoE, but it's not superior to every other melee set in the game and therefore I should be disappointed?

You do realize I've played four Martial Arts scrappers to 50, yes?

Anyway whatever happened to "wait a day and see what people report" if you're not sure about spending the points?
  12. You missed schoolgirl who punches you in the face.
And... mime who who punches you in the face. Or pretends to.

    Never mind, mimes won't work.

It wouldn't be so bad if you were directed straight to Twinshot right out of the tutorial. Instead you get directed to someone who gives you missions but doesn't really teach you anything, and who introduces you to other contacts who also don't really teach you anything. You kind of have to go out of your way to pay attention to Twinshot, and yes, by that point you should already know most of what she teaches you.

I do kind of like the new tutorial in that it feels exciting to me... but I can understand the complaints.
  14. It's apparently the same thing they use for the changing contacts in AE I'd think.
  15. So let's say my renewal date was Sept 26 (which it was on my 2nd account).

If I'm reading this right, I could have let my sub run out, waited 4 days, and then renewed my subscription on Oct 1, and that would have netted me my points almost a month early?
  16. Roy Cooling's arc. Some cool stuff, some annoying enemies.
  17. Here's one of my character with some of the celestial pieces:

  18. I think there may be an option to hide memorized recipes that you might have checked by accident... I know I did something like that once.
  19. Still working my way through First Ward arcs... but they're very awesome. I think they do a great job of making you feel like what you're doing actually changes things. Plus, they're just interesting and fun, with interesting enemies.
  20. Ditto. I assumed it had something to do with Freedom... but it is annoying.
  21. Sewer Trial.

    Abandoned Sewer Trial.

    I don't see any confusion.
  22. AFAIK, Paragon Protector and Vahzilok Eidolon are not gender-specific, but match the (current) gender of your character. So those would be female costumes if your character is female.

But yeah, most of the "cool" options are missing, and that includes more than 50% of the female options you normally see at Halloween.
  23. Ran a Manticore last night. I don't really look at ATs or ask for anything in particular, and that goes double when more than half the team are friends I team with regularly, but it occurred to me partway into the first mission that we had 1 tank, 3 brutes, 2 scrappers, 1 stalker, and a lone defender.

I thought about telling the team, "As long as the defender doesn't follow the stalker into a new group, anything goes." But everyone already knew that, so I didn't have to say a thing.
