I'd actually say that's exactly how it is in the COHverse. Don't forget the Dawn Patrol in Europe and I think the Rikti invasion happened globally, did it?

Paragon is probably one of those Superhero capital cities and the game is 'based around it' because of it's higher super-to-normal ratio of beings.
  2. I'd like to see free players getting the ability to reply to tells, but I don't believe Paragon is doing it just to get more money out of people.

Just get a 3 month subscription (worth 13.95 per month each) and with the one token you get for spending for the first time, plus the three you'll get each month as VIP, and you'll have enough to reach tier 3 and have all communication channels unlocked by the time you return to Premium, and get to enjoy all the channels from Day 1.

$41.85 vs. $45 in pure points, not that much cheaper, but cheaper all the same.
  3. It's not private communication if you and your friends words can be heard by all each others friends, of which they wouldn't want their chat interface cluttered with random friends talking or discussing topics only the two in question should hear.

Tells are srs business and I know I'm not the only one who thinks so either. I'll say if something like AE can be unlocked in two stages (First access to play, then ability to create). Then tells would do well with a similar unlocking stage. (First access to reply, then to send tells)

Melee: I'll escort you out of here and come back and clear the build.

General: No, I am a General With A Gun! I will follow you around at close quarters.

Melee: But General, those robots blow up when I punch them. The explosions will kill you.

General: I am a General With A Gun! I will follow you around at close quarters.

    Melee: *facepalm*
I've dealt with him before and didn't fare any better on a Kinetic Defender! No matter how much I buffed and assisted him, he only gotten himself killed anyway. And made me FAIL the mission!

Must. Rip out his. Medicom. Patch.

Make a bundle worth it, not a costume set with even less pieces that CoT set has.
Oh yes! There are a few romanesque costumes and patterns you can't get in Cime, like the Spring fling toga and sandals. Sandals in general since Men are apparently not allowed anything similar to them until they get the Samurai costume set!
  6. I'd imagine the best solutions would be to remove the 'buy' button from anything you can't purchase twice (costume/character slots, +storage, costume pieces or simply move them to a new page of 'Stuff you own' so you can view them all in their short-descriptioned glory.
  7. Catwhoorg's right, though I tend to remember they're order by population number, load just happens to coincide based on years of monitoring and server upgrades.

Kind of wish I could know how many active players on a server, but that would defeat the object of trying to ease people into load balancing.
  8. Judging from your post, it sounds like you don't have to pay to get your character slots back, but it is disconcerting all the same. Locking existing characters up is bad news.

That being said I have no objection if the devs could expand friend channel access to include global friends.
Friend channel, while an okay workaround, is not personal or private communication, tells are. Additionally you just said that in order for it to work, both parties must have each other on their friends list to work and if either of you switches to a different character you have to re-add each other over again.

I would feel better if it's 'in the pipeline', because I do know that UI is apparently a big deal in Paragon Studios, which is why we have Pocket D's Null the Gull to provide us with some power-buff management options, because it was either an NPC or nothing at all. I would expect something like extra rules on how tells are dealt with to be a similar issue.

Even a non-obliged 'We've heard you' from a redname would be confidence boosting, even if said message had no inkling of consideration to actually put those ideas into effect. But no doubt they can't really say anything because if they even do make an honest post there'll be some guy yelling, "YOU HEARD IT HERE FOLKS!" and set off a rumour faster than a power without an animation-time.

  11. I'd like to see more of the gated costume pieces available for permenant, Lv1 access for some point spending. It's not like you can't get them for free otherwise just by doing the content as it was originally.
  12. I'm flabberghasted at just how INVISIBLE my thread is to everybody that someone actually made a new thread and got REPLIES!
  13. > Looks at thread title

What is this, I don't even...

I knew this thread was bogus the moment I saw COPYRIGHTED spelt wrong :|

    For the long road ahead!
  15. If I remember correctly, the test and beta servers were mentioned to having one keyword attached to them:

    Temporary

Sure it may have meant the fact that any characters you make or transfer to them can be wiped off anytime the devs see fit. But I also deem this to be correct on when a new feature or powerset is being tested. The devs are not obligated to keep whatever numbers used in beta sets when they finally go live.

It would be nice if you could see the real numbers before purchasing yeah, but expecting them to be completely the same as beta is fallacious.
  16. I wrote a suggestions thread relating to these free player tell woes here, but I will summarise the solutions here:

Why not give free players the 1 for 1 chance to reply to tells and allow free players to freely send tells if each is on their global friends lists? RMTers rely on being able to initiate communication first while the mentioned solutions always require someone like a VIP or someone who actually likes you to let you send tells to you!

I can't see anything wrong with these solutions because even if an RMTer spent $5 to gain perma-tell permission, they can already do that anyway! The above solutions would make it so much easier for the legitimate free players and the Premium/VIPs who have or want to interact with them.
  17. I LOVE mazes!

I wish I could go exploring some of that
  18. Agreed.

There's just a tiny bit too many shop buttons around the place, it makes me feel like they're telling me something...

I'd say the way they did the shop buttons for Costume slots was good! But the ones for recipes and salvage needs something like you suggested.

    > Clicks menu then Quit
    | SHOP? LOG OUT? SHOP? LOG TO CHARACTER SCREEN? SHOP? QUIT SHOP GAME? QUIT?
    > Clicks quit--
    | QUIT SHOP GAME screen opens up
    "DAMN IT!"
  19. Hello folks, a short a sweet suggestion this time.

Apparently the reason free players can't use tells is because of RMT spammers and other nefarious deeds, that's cool and I respect that. However VIPs and Premiums can't immediately tell if someone is a free player and can be confusing. Additionally the small 'this player cannot respond to tells' message seems to have disappeared back when they were just trial accounts.

So how about this solution, which comes in two parts:
    • Free-players can respond to tells: If a player with tell-permissions sends a message to a free player, the free player is given one chance to respond on a 1:1 basis. RMTers can't get their ads out this way unless an unfortunate player speaks to them, and then they may only do it once.
    • Free-players may freely send tells to Global friends: You're not likely to befriend someone selling you powerlevelling services for $9.99. So why not let them be able to talk to you if they have your 'blessing', and even allow them to send tells to other free players who are on their friend list?
If both ideas were put in place, there would be no unsolicited spam via tells because only those with privileges (VIP or Premium) would be able to give free players the ability to send tells to them. And also allows players to freely and privately communicate with each other and to discourage the use of blind-invites (which happens when the polite system of tells is blocked!)
  20. I'm a little indifferent about this.

I'd want to keep the trainers around because they provide some more elements of lore into the game, characters who may or may not have more productive roles as NPCs or enemies in high-profile story arcs. As well as someone who takes their time to help you gain new insight on how to use your powers or give you the ability to make them more powerful.

Though on the other hand, it would be nice to be self-taught and not have to travel around just to know how to throw fireballs when you've already been shooting out flares. Or have someone tell you how and which of your powers is now capable of greater effects.

But since they are already in the game, and heroside already has trainers worth caring about, even just a little bit, I'd want them to stay.
  21. Whoa, I am so attending the next zombie apocolypse!
  22. I played conservatively with my points earlier this week until I found that the costume slots were going to be off-sale in a few days, considering I do like making different costumes for all my characters. I went for it! Even with my incoming stipend it won't allow me to purchase something like a powerset, though it could afford me a costume set bundle.

But I figured, not only is the costume slot account-wide and forever, it also gives me a benefit I never had before. Two costumes at level one! It means if I make a new character in the future, I'll have both a supersuit and a civilian identity all ready by LV2. By purchasing that slot, by the time I reach Lv40 and complete the last tailor mission, I'll have the original 5 costume's worth of room to switch to without having to go Vigilante/Rogue to complete other side's tailor missions or trading in Halloween salvage!

Those 600 P-Points served me well *salute*

Of course, that's 70+ times as many instances of AP as there are people on the planet, and let's say that each instance caters for 50 characters, so that means that there are 3,500 accounts per head of population of the whole planet, just on that one server, which makes CoH wildly more popular than any other pastime in the entire history of the universe.

If all of those characters were laid end to end, it would reach from the Earth to the Sun 334,000 times. Since the servers went live, over 109,000 characters have been created every second. The character database has 167 times as many characters as human DNA has base pairs.
    Ahahahahahahaa!
Oh my, this is the funniest post I've seen for a while, I couldn't stop laughing for five minutes and nearly brought me to tears! I'm not being sarcastic by the way, I'm book-marking this for future reference
  24. If I were in control I'd want at least two things done with free-player tells:

    • Allow free players to respond to tells to the person who contacted them.
    • And allow free players to freely communicate to those on their server & global friends lists
After all, you're not going to befriend the gibberishly named stranger who wants to sell you powerlevelling services are you?

If those two things, especially the second one were put in, the free tell situation would be solved.
  25. I thought a while back they attempted a redesign of the CoT costume pieces after they were previewed in beta, there was a bit groan about it and the devs actually took the feedback and implemented it as such before release. CoT used to be all spandex but now they retain some of their regal cloakiness that they used to have.

But yeah, I would have to say they should give themselves extra time before releasing content like this, after all, they're still going to get the money/point-redemption and the combined quality and good service would encourage people to spend more in the future. It's not to be sniffed at!
