You know, to be honest, my first thought as to how much a token was 'worth' was wrong too. Until I actually looked at how much the equivalent t9 repeatable stuff was worth I would have said a token was the rough equivalent of $5. It just isn't something that I really think should be 'worth' a significant amount really, but obviously that's just me.

    1 reward token = approximately $15.

    $15 / 5 = $3 a pack.

So... What is being said is that either the developers are extremely bad at math (something I'm beginning to think) or that the perk for being a VIP means a player gets charged 3x as much as a regular customer.
In addition to what Zwillinger said, I'm not really sure what about the T9 reward tokens would lead you to think that each token placed will reward you with $15 of virtual goods. I mean right now it gives 8 windfalls, xp boosters and unslotters which basically equate to 750 points (so just shy of $10). And while the enhancement boosters don't come in groupings of 30 like they sell them in the store (for 900 points) but the 25 enhancement booster T9 reward is roughly about $10 worth of store items too.

So yea, they're generally equitable with $10 of virtual stuff on that tier. So given that I'd hope maybe 9-10 for each token.
Edit: Even if it's less and ends up being something like 5 packs it's effectively free so I'm not likely to be complaining about it. Maybe grumbling a little, but not complaining.

I'm going to guess either not seriously or not at all. It'd be interesting to see it handled seriously, but those are the two options I'm guessing they'll go for and I'm really hoping they'll go for not at all as opposed to using it to make jokes.

I've noticed an odd trend. People who saw The Dark Crystal either when it was first release, or when they were children have a tendency to really love the film. People who just happened to see it later in life however tend to be nonplussed by the film. I'm not sure why that is since I try my best to take off my nostalgia glasses when I re-watch it and I'm still just as entertained by it now as I was back then.

The Secret of NIMH is a Don Bluth adaptation of Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. I'm not sure how true to the book it is, but I've always thought it was one of the better children's animated movies of its time. If you like it and watch it however I really recommend you stay far away from the horrible direct to video sequel.

Yea, it's a good example of how to correctly remake and translate a film for a new audience. A much better job than A Fistful of Dollars (from Kurosawa's Yojimbo despite claims to the contrary).

I'm not really sure if the 'point 1' is so much a power as it is a byproduct of being the only people who can see strange, unusual and sometimes superhuman creatures living among us. Not only as a means of documenting their weakness for their descendants (because who else is going to do that) but also as a way of both telling fantastic stories and somehow warning the general populace (Grimm's fairy tales). I mean we haven't seen Nick documenting anything so far.

I'll actually be kind of disappointed if Nick ever gets any sort of super powers. It'd be like if suddenly Dean from Supernatural or any of the normal monster hunters from any number of novels developed super powers. It kind of becomes a let-down at that point.

I don't have cable or anything so I didn't even know they were doing an adaptation, but isn't making broad changes to a King novel kind of the norm when adapting it for TV? I'm hoping that's the case anyway, since there's a lot of really bad King miniseries out there.

I'm pretty sure the Grimm's only 'power' is the ability to see monsters where normal people don't. I've been figuring that the fear that's being shown to Nick is because the Grimms probably have a long history of not so much caring if the monster was good or not and just killing them when they were found. They've basically been the 'real-life' ghost story for the monsters growing up.

You'll also note it's mostly only been the ones who are trying to fit in with society who are acting really afraid.

If you're playing with either very support light league or just on a league who doesn't know what's going on then the MoM trial seems to involve significant amounts of death.

You'd think people would understand the 'glowing patches of death' mechanic by now, but surprisingly ... not so much apparently.

While there are certainly (debatable) issues with the devices powerset, its ability to be stealthy is most certainly not one of them. The pairing of cloaking device, and smoke grenade let you sneak around most anything in the game.

Yea, by all accounts the Rikti are really rather peaceful I believe.

Of course then Nemesis automatons of prominent superheroes attacked their homeworld. So the Rikti we mostly encounter in game are the military forces effectively stuck behind enemy lines and even then there's a group of them trying to reach a peaceful settlement.

I'm pretty sure I got that mostly right anyway, I haven't run many Rikti arcs in a while.

    New Book

Unless there's some pressing reason not to do so I'd like to suggest making a Nook (B&N) version of the book as well. Last time I saw analysts discussing B&N's market share of the ebook market (mid-summer) they accounted for about 22%-25% of ebook sales.

Also I own a nook tablet (fantastically zippy little thing it is) so ....

It's actually been pretty awesome recently (though I haven't read it in a couple months). It was really bad for quite a while, but then it changed format similarly to what Newsweek and Time did recently. So it had nice articles about gaming related subjects that seemed to actually have substance to them (as opposed to infographics or biiiig giant pictures with a small written blurb that were so in vogue for quite some time). Made it actually interesting to read and one of the only game-related magazines I've purchased from work in the last year.

Well, it's the same director as The Cell, but I don't know that I'd exactly say an overabundance of gore his 'style'. He also directed The Fall, which was bloody fantastic and had a decided lack of gore. And his next movie is Mirror, Mirror which looks like ... a family fairy-tale comedy so ... yea.

Would certainly watch a sequel/follow-up to it.

    7.5/10
To be fair, watching a rock do nothing against a featureless plain for 90 minutes would be better that the new Clash of the Titans. That said, having just walked in the door from a late showing of the film myself, I rather agree with your thoughts.

Also while the fights involving the gods later on were kind of absurd, it was generally a really entertaining absurd.

Also, even with the fog gone, they might still make the zone always be set to night, to fit in with the zone name and the theme of Mot.
You know, I have to say, I've wanted DA revamped for quite a while (along with the Shard), but the removal of the fog makes me beyond sad. Really, the fog was one of the big things that makes the zone so cool.
  20. So for folks who don't know Desert Bus for Hope is a gaming marathon charity that raises money for Child's Play (rather successfully) that's run by the sketch comedy group Loading Ready Run.

The main reason I'm mentioning it here is they have a fantastic guest list this year that I thought some people might be interested in. Among others they have John Scalzi calling in later tonight; Yhatzee and Grant Imahara(Mythbusters) tomorrow; MovieBob and Notch on Monday; Wil Wheaton, Felicia Day, and Paul & Storm on Tuesday. They had some folks from Extra Credits around last night and Kevin Murphy (Rifftrax and Tom Servo) was on earlier (they made the poor man do a 'normal view' joke).

Aside from that the LRR folks are pretty entertaining in their own right so the marathon can be fun to watch plus you can donate money to make them do silly things ... for the children. They're also auctioning off a lot of nifty stuff like a CoH Architect edition box signed by the dev team and a lot of art donated by Ken Steacy(comic book artist ... won an Eisner).

  23. RMTers are kind of absurd. I saw one spamming a weekend beta test of another game and offering a discount for their services.

Why would anyone pay real money for in-game money when it's not going to carry over to live? I'm sure a couple of people did, but it just boggles my mind.
  24. I've always more thought that the third slot was just unlocked by the story arc more than it required having the alpja slot. More just an additional reward than anything else.

Of course I've not seen anyone really mention it anywhere before now, soI could be entirely wrong.

Also it's worth considering that there were a lot of sales leading in to Freedom going live. For instance the base CoH going for $2 for a while before the boxes were removed from the store.

I'm not sure that would have had a huge impact on the bottom line or not, but it's worth a thought.
