Not really ironic, but funny and rather cool:
I was doing the Resistance:Crusader mission from Wardog against the Syndicate members who were planning to betray and kill us. I come across one of the targets, who is talking about that plan. And as I defeat him, with him denying that he planned to kill us, I simultaneously get the Marked For Death and Knows the Truth badges. -
I also have Wisp Aura; I recently made a character with it.

Quote:Or to put it simply; I pay more on top of my subscription than I used to, but it's for things I want and I'm getting value for my money so I don't care.Pretty much, the way I see Freedom is as something that's aimed at getting people to subscribe as quickly as possible and then proceeding to get them to pay extra above that subscription. And I'm fine with it, bizarrely enough. For the first time since the game's creation, Freedom actually gives us the power to vote with our money. Releasing things players ask for is no longer just good public relations in keeping players happy, it's a direct source of revenue, which is smart business. Before if I argued for something I wanted, it was just an impotent request. Arguing for it now, I can base it from the stand point of "I would pay for X!" and actually have the ability to put my money where my mouth is.
Counter-intuitively, I pay more for this game under Freedom than I did under the old model, and I feel less weird for doing it.
My main worry when they announced that they were going to a hybrid FTP system was that they'd nickle and dime us to death by doing something like making subscribers get what free/premium players do now, and charge for every little extra thing above that. Fortunately they were smarter than that.
Someone told Marketing that they needed to be more aggressive, and they misunderstood. -
Mister Fist for my SS/WP Brute on Justice - I was sure that would be taken.
Mad Science the Mind/Energy Dom, also on Justice I think. Who now has a brain in a tank for a head. -
I've a bunch of ideas. Water/Storm certainly, since I like Storm so much and it fits thematically. Possibly a Water/Dark vampire, depending on how bloody the Water attacks can look. I'm considering a heroic Necro/Nature with a plant-person for a character; a sentient symbiotic cluster of plants/fungi that has grown into and reanimated the dead buried where it was growing. And is somewhat confused about why the people it tries to help scream "Zombies!" and run away. Demons/Nature might also be cool depending on how hellishly you can color /Nature powers.

As suggested by Omega in this thread, a shark style back fin would be nice. And with a water blast set coming up other aquatic themed parts. A fish head with gills, or back tentacles, say...I'd suggest a Cthulhu-style octopoid head with tentacles, but that would resemble mind flayers from D&D too much.

Quote:The best place would probably have been Dink's Character Art/costume thread.Since there's going to be a water based powerset - could we get a sharks fin as a back detail please - sorry if this is posted in the wrong place

Quote:That could actually be quite powerful - like carrying your own personal Static Field* around with you at all times. Especially for soloists or small teams; such an aura would be a great alpha-defuser.Improved Mitosis isn't one of the powers we saw leaked but Genetic Corruption is a PBAoE Sleep with -Damage... meaning it's basically a PBAoE Poison Gas Arrow. Since Improved Mitosis was added then it might have been improved but...
* Sleep patch power from Electric Control -
Quote:You could call him Crassus.Thermal/water could be fun as an evil Fireman who sets fires and puts them out for news-media glory.
Quote:Most notorious was his acquisition of burning houses: when Crassus received word that a house was on fire, he would arrive and purchase the doomed property along with surrounding buildings for a modest sum, and then employ his army of 500 clients to put the fire out before much damage had been done. Crassus's clients employed the Roman method of firefighting—destroying the burning building to curtail the spread of the flames. -
Beast/Dark?
"And wherever I go, there are the wolves and the darkness following behind..." -
And at any rate, even if someone googles them they should keep in mind that since the powers aren't even in Beta yet they could be drastically changed.
-
Googling, I found a previous thread on the subject which also came to the conclusion it was from Praetorian Clockwork. And I also found a city of Data page mentioning a Praetorian Clockwork power called "Particle Burst Pet".

I like my Elec/Stone; slap down the sleep patch, walk in and hammer everyone down. Also, if you want to use Hurl Boulder* take the single target immobilize; it negated knockback.
*Or other attacks with KB from other sets, like TK Thrust. -
Same here; even if they put out the same damage, having SCOURGE!SCOURGE!SCOURGE! pop up over the heads of enemies is just more fun than Vigilance. Plus Corrs get their offensive powers sooner. I used to have a few Defenders; but with powerset proliferation & blueside Corrs, I rerolled them all as Corrs.

Quote:I expected that, but I thought StJ would be ranked higher than BR for Power sets.Quote:I think that BR placed so high because of the novelty factor of being the first market power set, and the general market frenzy with the launch of Freedom - people have settled down now, and seem to plan their buying a lot more carefully.Quote:Also, just as a completely off-the-cuff guess: it's the only ranged set that's been offered for sale (at least, that's not free for VIPs), so if you want a new ranged set, you take Beam Rifle. On the other hand, if you want a new melee set, there was StJ and TW, and now Staff, to choose from. Splitting the vote, as it were.

We clearly need a three armed AT, so that we can at long last have Dual Blades/Shield.

Quote:I recall various comments about how the police couldn't cut it in some of the really old stuff. For example, from Karen Parker's bio:When longbow first came about, the PPD wasn't exactly considered effective.
They were undermanned, cowering in fear, ect ect.
Quote:Paragon City is not known for attracting the best police officers in the world. With so many super-powered heroes breaking cases, it's tough for a good cop to make a real impression. Quote:I believe that last bit has changed, not sure, but the first part has, with the PPD getting more tools and new metas in the ranks to help fight crime, and even then, the PPD still needs the cape and cowl set to help keep the crime at bay. -
Quote:Another example would be them attacking Praetoria. I just re-did the Loyalist Responsibility arc, and it's quite clear that Longbow had no clue about the actual state of affairs in Praetoria. They just attacked anyone they thought was a "Praetorian". Kind of like the Rikti attacking Primal Earth actually.Longbow also has a problem with overstepping their bounds legally. The whole situation in the Rogue Isles being the main example. Their thinking seems to be along the lines of "These people are the BAD GUYS. We're the GOOD GUYS! We have to stop them, no matter what it takes!"... which is really the first good intention that paves the road the Hell...
Quote:It is kind of funny how many rogue Longbow cells there are according to tip missions. It's also a little odd that with a full team some of those renegade bands have two or three hundred members. Longbow must have some amazing recruiters if they can keep their organization fully staffed in spite of that.
Quote:Guardians are wet-behind-the-ears do-gooders looking to prove themselves. Most don't last beyond their first encounter with the big bad bruisers of the Rogue Isles.
Quote:Once a soldier has proven his total commitment to the cause, he is transferred into the ranks of the Elite. Only one in five soldiers survive long enough to achieve this promotion. -
She was talking on PinnBadges (IIRC) while playing twice a few months ago.

Quote:Or they could wait until April 1st and shut the servers down. "Sorry, the Battalion won. Everybody's dead."Maybe the "gimmick" they'll use is to release it on December, 21st 2012.
