So, I was cruising around facebook, and saw that Nemesis posted something for us.
It has the actual list of powers from the new melee defensive set!

Hardened Carapace
Heightened Metabolism
Environmental Adaptation
Evolving Armor
Ablative Carapace
DNA Siphon
Genetic Contamination
Inexhaustible
Parasitic Aura


I have some of my own ideas about some of these powers, but would like to know what other ppl think as well.

Let the wild speculation run rampant!!

Is Stalker going to get the gimped version of the set?


What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

I wish they'd have a ten minute bio armor character creation preview before issue 23 so I could make a claws/bio on vigilance before they strip out the french character info. A concept that I suppose was not meant to be.

Since you have the names, does that mean you can post the images? You'd be able to look them up in-game if you have the names...

You can always poke around on google and find advanced info. Threads like this and the 'leaked sorcery pool' always make me laugh because I knew about them already.

Any or all of it could be pushed back, it could already be slotted behind something else coming sooner, it could be wholly scrapped and never released, or for all we know it could be a set that they use as an example of what they'd like to do if they got some new tech that we won't see for another eight years if ever.

I'm also 70% sure there's a rule out there somewhere that you can't post this kind of info on the official forums.

And I knew that ppl knew about it, because it was discussed at the Players Summit. However, I didn't go, as I'm sure a number of other players did not. This was supposed to be a thread on speculation about the individual powers and the set as a hole.

This is officially revealed info. At the very least it was part of the Player Summit presentation.

Actually you can't anymore. They removed (or otherwise blocked) the real numbers entries for the spoiled sets.

Still waiting on the defense set /I/ want tho! Grrrr.

Improved Mitosis isn't one of the powers we saw leaked but Genetic Corruption is a PBAoE Sleep with -Damage... meaning it's basically a PBAoE Poison Gas Arrow. Since Improved Mitosis was added then it might have been improved but...

Were this Water Blast or Nature Affinity, I could tell you the exact numbers, but Bio Armor didn't really interest me, so I never got around to recording the info while we still could.

Actually the only power I DID check real numbers for was the ST Ranged attack from Sorcery - based on the damage I saw, I can say that two or three of my characters will pick it up... or try to fit into the build at least.

Oh and I also looked at the numbers for the final power in Sorcery and I'm DEFINITELY gonna try to work that in.

Oh now I remember - Inexhaustible gave +10% Endurance half enhanceable, and a reasonable amount of HP, also half enhanceable.

Well then I'll 'speculate' that Biotic Armor is mainly a mix of Regeneration, Invulnerability and some debuffs, focusing primarily on using +Max HP, increased regeneration, some light resistance and exploiting the Absorb mechanic as a means of keeping yourself alive. The debuffs, while it has more than other sets, is primarily to mitigate minions like Dark Armor.

I'll further speculate that:

-Heightened Metabolism could be an auto power that improves regeneration, recovery and debuff resistances

-Environmental Adaptation could be a toggle mez protection toggle that may also improve resistance to some damage types...possibly even psionic damage...

-Ablative Carapace might be a click that greatly boost regen as well as gives the user a high amount of +absorb that takes any damage for the user instead of actual HP damage. This might even be the tier 9 power.

-DNA Siphon could be a click PBAoE that does some minor toxic damage. It may also have the ability to lower foes' regen while granting the user HP and END. There might even be a mechanic that allows dead foes to be used for this buff but for less return.

-Genetic Contamination may just be a click PBAoE that does some toxic damage as well as debuffs foes damage.

-Inexhaustible could possibly be an auto power that buffs max HP and max END.

-Parasitic Aura may be a toggle or click...who knows? But it might reduce foes' damage, recharge and speed while buffing your regen and recovery as well gaining +absorb from the drained foes. This may be the tier 9 power since anything is possible.

-There might be another power called Genetic Corruption which might be a PBAoE click that debuffs foe's damage and puts lesser foes to sleep. It might do no damage so could possibly be stacked with other sleep powers.

-To further speculate, I'd imagine the absorb mechanic might actually be similar to body guard mode for masterminds in that, the damage taken isn't affected by resistance...your absorb shield may take 100% of any attack, not by how much resistance you may have and this is why the set has damage debuffs.

-I'd also speculate that how much absorb one gains is based on a base number + a % of your max HP. Ultimately, ATs like Tanker and Brute will get a lot more out of +absorb but the one to take home the prize will most likely be Stalkers as they simply won't be the target of many attacks so their absorb will last until the +absorb clicks are recharged. Scrappers may feel penalized if they get a taunt in their aura which will draw attention to them and put them under more fire compared to what their absorb can withstand.

I don't need to speculate - I tried out the PBAoE Absorb proc from the new Defender ATO set and it DID scale based upon the max HP of my allies - my 4Y Buffing Vet Pet got +1 Absorb, I got +~57, and a Vanguard Boss got over 500 (it was level 54 one at the base).

I think the carapaces are going to be the auto powers, with DNA siphon something like drain psyche from mental.

Going completely off the names...

Sounds like Genetic Contamination will be swapped with Genetic Corruption on Stalkers. That one is easy enough. :B

Improved Mitosis sounds like a heal... DNA Siphon sounds like some sort of Foe Drain, Self +Heal, so my guess would be that Stalker's will lose DNA Siphon, and Improved Mitosis will just be a reskinned reconstruction, like Willpower got for Stalkers.

Evolving Armor sounds like a +Def or +Res for each foe nearby sort of thing (it evolves to be stronger when you need it to be? maybe?). So this would be my first guess for being replaced with Hide on Stalkers.

Then again, if the set has any passives, those might get tossed out for Hide, instead.

I dunno, we'll see. But I'm excited for this set and what it will look like.

At least it's possible someone not already playing the game might see this info on Facebook and actually decide to give the game a try. If they only post info like this on the forum, then that guarantees that only existing players will see it (though, it should have been cross-posted to both sources.) I'm all for any advertising that actually might draw in more players, though, especially since there obviously isn't a budget to do any other forms of advertising.
