    Yes.

  2. The saddest part is that once they found out where those places are, they'll go back to the MA, anyway. OR SO I AM LED TO ASSUME.

    I don't think it's a farmer-exclusive mindset.

I remember in my early months, I saw someone named Captain Planet Pluto. My friend who got me into this game has been pretty vehement about reporting rip-offs, but I was rather mellow about it. For some reason, I just said "you know, that nick is technically against the rules", and suddenly all of Steel Canyon declared me a huge ***** and I should just stick to my own business and whatever.

That day, my heart grew three times darker and I decided to report any infringement I see. Shunned by society, I saw, for the first time, what society was really like: A gathering of amoral criminals, but not for longer! I shall become the Law, and I shall these low-lives in their rightful place!

... be right back, just got a character concept.

See, this is what I don't get. So here's a scenario, just bear with me

In a tragic accident, the MA just gets deleted from the game. Where will the people go? Assumably, they will start doing normal missions again, whether just for fun or to farm.

Where do normal missions take place? In instanced indoors missions. These are completely separate from the normal zones, far away from broadcast range. People will spend about 90% of their time there. Atlas Park may end up being deserted, but so will everything else be, simply because we're too busy doing stuff in instanced missions.

I get where you people are coming from. It LOOKS like everyone went to Atlas Park to farm the AE, but that's misleading. It simply looks that way because you see people there to begin with. What you don't see is the countless people in instanced missions just doing what they wanna do.

I try to refrain from anecdotes because I recognise they are highly subjective, but during the Double XP weekend, I managed to do three TFs. Two were planned, one just kinda happened and I got into it.

To reiterate, the people that play outside the MA are still there, they're just busy, you know, playing outside the MA. You have to seek them out, because chances are, they won't seek you out.

It just baffles me that wanting to have the German and French part out of sight is a 'common request'.

I also don't get why this is worth the effort in the first place, when you have to actively scroll down to even see those forums, and even then, you don't even have to pay attention to them.

Most baffling still is that analogy to foreign language forums to locked forums. It almost sounds like you feel taunted, dared even, by their very presence.

Like LiquidX implied, not everyone reads every section of this forum, but few would complain about their visible presence, hence why I'm just so confused that it's necessary to introduce a feature to make some sections turn invisible.

The default pile of rocks has no primary or secondary sexual characteristics. A pile of rocks is, for all intends and purposes, androgynous. Hell, I can't even imagine how a "female" pile of rocks is supposed to look like.

What you're asking is akin to asking the men behind Nintendo to redesign Samus' power armor to be form-fitting around her chest. I mean, seriously, why would I want to put two special breast rocks when I'm already wearing an armor made of rocks?
  7. I can kinda get behind the idea of not wanting to see countless images on a forum because you're essentially here for the text.

But are you seriously this bothered by the fact that at the bottom of the list, there's French and German forums? The English part of the forum already hast the most boards, and is on the top, and you're still bothered by the mere existence of other languages? It boggles the mind...

  9. Using my rez on this thread just to voice my support for the idea of a Rularuu Raid, if only because making threads about an already-made topic is against the rules, apparently.

Personally, I am hoping that GR will introduce a new raid, and I hope it will be a Rularuu raid. Yes, I know, technical limitations due to his size and all, but technical limitations also made power customisation previously impossible, and maybe the budget for GR will allow the devs to jump that hurdle, too?

Now I won't claim I'm a video game designer, so I have no idea how to create a raid that's balanced yet difficult and still fun to do, but what I'd love to see is see all the Aspects in one place together with The Ravager. I know, it's difficult plot-wise, what with some of the Aspects working against Rularuu, but maybe there could be a plot about how Rularuu tries to forcibly merge with his Aspects to regain his full power and breach through dimensional borders and you have to stop that from happening?

Really, even if a raid is impossible in every way, a huge guy that eats dimensions deserves more exposure to the general lore of CoX.

That's just me, and by the by, if you have a 50 and not enough money to give to yourself as a new lowbie, hmmm. I get if its a RP thing. But even a new warrior in D&D can have a rich uncle...just saying.
Yeah, it's pretty much an RP thing. My toons start at level 1, after all. They cause some trouble in Paragon City, and then a level 50 hero one-shots them. Being a freelance villain in the Paragon City is pretty difficult, after all. I'd like my villains to go from lowly vermin to despicable Big Bad, so Break Out is canon for all of them, whether explicitly mentioned or not.

Actually, a Boot Camp tutorial zone for VEATs would be nice, and make sense. And yeah, in such a boot camp they would also tell you about how to advance in your career and what it'll entail.

As far as HEATs are concerned, though? I'm actually not sure. Every hero gets their feet wet in Outbreak, and there's no actual plot reasons why Kheldians shouldn't, too.

But yeah, in the end, a special EAT starter zone is very low priority. It's nice to dream, though.

    Widdershins

I don't recall Widdershins being that difficult.

Say, have you done the first or second or so arc by that Arachnoid exterminator guy? His name slips my mind, but he's dressed like a bug exterminator, hard to miss.

So anyway, he ALSO has an Arachnoid EB, just like Widdershins, but with the added bonus that said EB also runs away like a coward. If you cannot beat Widdershins, here's a friendly hint: If you meet the other Arachnoid EB, get a team with you, or chances are, you'll fail the mission and your failure will be forever immortalised in your souvenir... or until you use Ouroboros and 'fix' the time line, like I did when that stupid EB fled from me.

Well, there's also the thing where basically everyone in the Zig is a Destined One, hence why Lord Recluse has his men break into prison and rescue half the inmates twice a week.

Soldiers of Arachnos however are... kinda not really Destined Ones, really. I think the idea is that you just got finished with boot camp and you are on guard-duty on Fort Mercy when Alan Desslock lures you into his van with promises of candy.

Being like everyone else.Yes, you come up with this wonderful character, and within five levels you're in the same "I'm not quite a nooblet any more" armor with the same "hey, this is almost sharp enough to cut warm butter" sword or what have you. Sure, you might have a little color difference here and there, but overall, there's no point to customizing your look - as within five levels, if you don't dump all your stuff for new, you might as well be wearing cottage cheese for armor and throwing loosely wadded paper at the enemy.
This is why CoH is bad for you. It spoils you with sweet, sugary goodness like its character creator so that the character creators in other MMOs seem like prison meals, to the point you don't even want to start the game proper because you know, you know, that you will meet your perfect clones, of which there are numerous, at least twelve times an hour.

Really, CoH was the first MMO that gave you the satisfaction of saying "this is my toon, this is my in-game avatar and mine alone". It made you feel unique in a game with a hundred thousand players and at least ten times as many toons. Compare that to most other MMOs, wherein you just need, oh I don't know, three ploayers for two to look alike already.
  19. Oh jeez, I completely forgot they censor god, too.

See, for most of the time, I don't care about the censors thanks to the ability to turn off the profanity filter. It seemed like the perfect solution to me. Those that worry about these things get a bunch of random characters, and I can make use of my extensive vocabulary and listen to others.

But then I tried to give my hand at the MA when it was fresh, tried to write an arc, only to have an error message pop up because I was using crude or foul language or something. It turns out my contact said "Oh my god!", which naturally violates the second Commandent AND THEREFORE SHALT NOT BE.

I'm not much for PuGs, and I have yet to try my hand at a Brute, so I can't speak about them, but I know that MMs have a, for this game, purely relatively speaking, a steeper learning curve.

I think the worst part is the three macros an MM gets upon creation. When I rolled my first MM, I assumed those three macros were obviously sufficient because, hey, the devs gave you them, so they can't be bad. Well, I have yet to set up binds or macros of my own for maximum control, but I started having a greater control over my pets when I removed those three starter macros from my tray and set the pet menu controls to advanced.

I guess I should elaborate on my problems with the default macros, though. For starters, there's the fact that they all effect all pets. That alone is bad simply because it means two of three macros will put all your pets out of bodyguard mode, meaning that any stray bullet could end you.

Then, one of the macros will set all your pets to passive/follow. I can see some merit behind not wanting your pets to shoot stuff in some situations, but most of the time? Not having them in bodyguard mode is, as I said, foolish.

Then there's the aggressive/attack macro, which seems to be the cause of most of the grief players have with MM toons: Once on aggressive, your pets stop caring what they're hurting, and aggro everything. You are actively abandoning your control over pets that way. Hell, I really see no reason to set your pets to aggressive, ever. I'm a Mastermind! I should tell my henchmen what to do, not just tell them to do as they please!

The Defensive/Follow Me macro is the only one I actually like, if only it sets all your henchmen into bodyguard mode, which should, for all intends and purposes, be your henchmen's default state. I could see myself still using this if I didn't already got rid of it.

Do note that I *love* Masterminds. But the thing with them is, daddy just put some extremely wobbly training wheels on them, and you'll actually be safer if you get rid of them. Hell, one of these days, I ought to set up some keybinds myself. That's gotta make being a Mastermind even more awesome, right?

And because I cannot ranting: I guess the problem with 'incompetent brutes' is that they have no idea when to actually stop attacking? That they actually aggro as much as a bad MM's henchies do, except on purpose, and then end up surprised they face-plant, or even blame the Corruptor or Mastermind for not supporting him when they were in fact too busy to take care of the rest of the team? Is that correct?
  22. This seriously bothered me, actually. I actually wrote my spider's backstory to include his stay in the Zig only to find out, he was never there! I get the plot reason behind it, I also get that a player who reached 50 before should, technically, know the game enough not to need a tutorial indeed, BUT WHY WON'T ANYONE THINK OF MY BACKSTORIES!
  23. I heard that while Paragon Studio endorses strawberries, the various competitors are outspoken opponents of strawberries. That alone stands testament to their immense inferiority.
  24. Really, just stay away from Pocket D, and 'ERP'ers won't bother you.
