Quote:I do not get behind the idea of vehicles, simply because there really aren't large enough spaces to justify having them. Independence Port is large yes, but how much of it is actual road? From what I'm getting while playing city of heroes is that a travel power is kind of a necessity. Its not NEEDED, but getting around fog areas such as Dark Astoria is really better if you've got fly or super speed or jumping. Super hero vehicles would be so cool because you could cruise around with your SG in a souped up Transport vehicle with your SG's emblem on the front or you could ride solo and grab a bike and cruise around town without having to choose a transport power. This could even expand to having small jet planes for flight or helicopters. You could also give the vehicle upgrades like weapons or jets, for more influence/ prestige at a shop.
The lowdown looks like this.
Vehicles can be purchased with influence or prestige, but prestige gives you more seats in your vehicle and gives you flying vehicles.
USING INFLUENCE:
Motorcycles,
Small two seat sports cars.
PRESTIGE VEHICLES:
Larger vehicles such as trucks or transport vehicles.
Small jet planes.
Helicopters.
kind of a quirky idea, but it has some serious potential versus getting the transport power. It would also make traffic more of a hazard rather than just a moving wall. If your car crashed, you would have to pay for its repairs. Thoughts anyone?
Now what would get me to support it? The space required, because even if we did get vehicles, you would get people complaining that drives are too short. Hence, each and every zone would have to become as large as a Grand Theft Auto city. -
IIRC, Nolan also said this is about an early Batman. In this universe, Dick Grayson is maybe about 4 years old. I don't think the deaths of the Graysons occurs until Dick is about 8.

Quote:Batman Inc seem to have him focusing on a more global scale now.Because the creators of Batman wanted to make a "street level" character to do more pulp detective style stories rather than battles with cosmic scale villains?
I don't classify hero "levels" by power output, but rather by the amount of territory they patrol.
Batman focused on the entire city, and was only focusing on the streets early in his career. Then again, I do tend to overanalyze a bit. -
Quote:Agreed. I'd like to read a Spider-Man/Flash (Wally West) crossover. It is a shame that there hasn't been a crossover between Marvel & DC since then, as such an effort MIGHT acknowledge the JLA/Avengers mini. But what I'd really rather see is a crossover set IN that faux Silver Age, with Earth-1 and Earth-616 interacting fairly regularly.
I've heard stories that Quesada is the reason that there haven't been any recent crossovers, but I forget where I heard such things. -
While reading through this thread, I thought to myself "128GB? That's kinda small. Wonder if they make 1TB Solid State drives?"
I google and get my answer.
$3,300 dollars for a 1TB Solid State drive.
Oh well. I'm more than happy with the 2TB that I have inside my rig (Spread across 2 SATA II drives,) but still..... -

Yesterday during a lunch break, I read through some of the many comics I have stored on my portable HDD, more specifically, crossovers. With crossovers like JLA/Avengers, it is usually shown how the two teams meet, such as dimension hopping, portals, an accident, et al.
Browsing through other crossovers, however, seems to be different. Using Batman/Grendel for an example, Grendel is from Dark Horse, and usually operates in New York. In this crossover, it seems that it is just another part of the multiverse, as Batman states to have heard of Grendel. Spider-Man/Batman also has Batman state that he was aware of the entire Maximum Carnage event.
There are many other examples, but I won't list them. Like I stated earlier, some crossovers do a good job of mentioning why they are occurring. Other vaguely, if at all, mention as to why, which causes me to believe that some are parts of the multiverse, where characters from different realities are able to co-exist.
Is this the case, or am I looking too hard into it? -

Of all the invasion movies I've seen, I've never understood out of all the countless planets and galaxies that exist, we are the only ones that other species choose to invade (since few if any movies reference the alien invaders having been to other worlds before ours)
I will admit that I overanalyze that tidbit however, and most alien races see vast potential in us (such as in Star Trek, humanity will one day surpass the Q), so perhaps that is why they invade. When humans have technology of equal or greater advancement, they seldom, if ever lose.
The aliens in V (even though I don't watch the show) were smart to come early, and not wait until we had reached Starfleet levels of technology. -
Quote:I will admit that I have torrented several things, and only because there was no other possible way to get them. Such as comics that never got released in TPB form, games that never made it outside of Japan, et al.A while ago, we had the discussion of legality about using P2P programs like bittorrent. Some us view it as acceptable, others don't, and some others view only certain aspects of it acceptable. Based on that argument, I thought how long do you think needs to be waited before various media becomes acceptable for obtaining a free electronic copy of it. There is the obvious stipulation that there is no income to be made from the media and it is only for personal use.
My opinion on this issue is that once a movie is available on public television, then it becomes acceptable. Also games and software are acceptable after 5 or more years depending on if a) there is no equivalent product like the King Quest Series DVD being sold or b)the company is no longer making any money on the product. If I wanted to download a copy of Windows 95, then it wouldn't affect Microsoft sales at all.
I'd say about 5 years for games, but with retro games making a comeback on modern consoles (and there are many that I missed out on, so I'd gladly pay for them) makes it seem that it won't ever happen.
Exception: for various reasons, some retro games from the older generations don't make it to be purchased on modern consoles, so I guess about 5 years for the ones that don't make it to Xbox Live, PSN, etc. -
I did this. Got a foot AND a back massager for the wife.
And to respond to an earlier poster: I do the same. Once all the housework is done, I am allowed to do whatever I want till I go to bed.
Well, except for the TV. When I want to play on the PS3, I have to wait till she goes to bed, since it's the only HDTV we have. I could take the PS1/PS2 to the bedroom, but c'mon. I really don't feel like unplugging all of those cords. -
Quote:About 2 years on Virtue, someone actually did this.
A quick ITF is not a reasonable excuse should your wife's water break.
"My pregnant girlfriend is in the hospital, after her water broke. And by the way, LFT"
I really wish I had saved that chatlog, as it caused a 3 hour argument in VirtueUnited that day. -
Does anyone still have a pic of the bio of "Deth Kick Guy"?

Quote:I asked this same question a few months ago on another forum. Someone actually created a custom soundtrack that fit extremely well with Blackest Night. I don't have all of them, but the songs that I do have from his custom soundtrack for Blackest Night are:Hi fellas and ladies,
I've been looking for some music to listen to while I read comic books. Do you listen to any music? What is it?

Whenever I see Batman and Captain America fight, his theme from Marvel Super Heroes fits the best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nE3xHSCy9zg -
Heh. This thread reminds me....
I once invited a Dark Defender to my team instead of an Empath as a team member suggested. When he saw what I invited, he goes to call me a noob for inviting a Dark over an Empath.....
"cause dark don't have heals"
My brain then shut down for a few seconds because it failed to process any further information that the individual was saying about how Empathy was superior to Dark. When he proceeded to curse at me, I booted him from the team. -

So, if I'm reading right, most posters in this thread take longer to get to 50 due to altitis.
My main character was created April 14, 2006, and hit 50 July 3, 2006. I PvPed a lot when I hit 30, so I took longer than I should have.
Every other character I created after that took about a month each, mainly because of my gameplay style and me being hard to bore.
Plus, back then I was single and got long stretches of days off when I was in the military, so I had the time to play for ungodly hours.
I would create a character and refuse to do anything else until that character hit 50. 2 characters hit 50 due to Double Xp weekends faster than the other 6, but I averaged about a month a character, and that was before the increase of levelling speed and patrol xp. -
