generally when I buy something on 'spec' I massively under-bid, and I've found it easier to buy the 'unloved' pieces of various sets with this tactic. I think I picked up that recipe for 30m when it was 'worth' 60 or so, so 150 is a nice bump.

On the stack right now:
The Forbidden Tower by Marion Zimmer Bradley
Been a long time since I read the Darkover books, I'm working my way back through 'em.
The Bookman by Lavie Tidhar
It got an enthusiastic cover blurb from James Blaylock, so I picked it up.
Sixty-One Nails by Mike Shevdon
Looked interesting and I'm always on the lookout for new authors.
Recently finished Sandman Slim by Richard Kadrey, that was a good one with plenty of geek appeal. -
Quote:Amerits guarantee this will never happen. As I said, I'm just concerned that with the economy left unchecked, some of the more desirable rare recipes will be trading up around 2 billion mark as well down the road. Want to buy a Numina's proc or a LotG 7.5? Oops -- time to hit the forums and put a bid up there, since they're all at the market cap.

Quote:It's awesome that works for you.No it really doesn't mean soloing. It means actually spending like 90 seconds finding a couple of people to help with a "Hey I'm struggling on X mission, can you help please?" - if you've got a server channel even easier.
The situation isn't black/white and your solution does not apply to all players in all circumstances.
For example I have to go afk often, at totally random intervals for random amounts of time. Sometimes I can team with the expectation of being to finish a couple of missions or a short TF, but most of the time i can't.
Rounding up the A-Team doesn't do you any good if you have to skip out at the mission door.
I've run into plenty of others who're in the same situation as myself.
Quote:Small servers mean tigher communities that will be happy to help cuz they either have or will have that mission you want to do.
More players > tighter communities when it comes to finding a team at 4am.

Quote:the farm I run with my fire/axe tank creates a situation where I'm standing there whaling away on the pile of guys attacking me while two or three times that number mill around ignoring me, until I defeat someone and create an aggro opening.I think you were mistaken. I spend a lot of time trying to get as many things on me as possible, and the 17 limit is very severely enforced, and affects even ambush AI. If you found a way to exceed it, I'd like to see it.
More than 17 things may have been coming in your direction if ambushes were coming, but no more than 17 would have actually attacked you at once. -

Quote:There are a ton of interesting folk playing this game. I'm rarely able to team myself, but I find idiots and jerkwads to be a rare exception rather than the rule.On the few teams that I've been on over the years, I've never met anyone interesting, but I've met more than a few annoying people.
And this is from pure PUGing, accepting whatever blind invites come my way while I'm checking my traps at the market.
Team or don't, play the game however you like.
But don't try and justify it by playing up 'annoying people'. -
Quote:how much are you out?Started selling some salvage at the trading house, got a few hundred thousand inf and a nice set of DO enhancements, guess this won't be a painful as I feared
(I still want my millions back though !)
PM me your global and I'll reimburse you on behalf of the devs.
/edit
crud just noticed you're on EU....bah! -
Plenty of players like to play on their own schedule and at their own convenience, which generally means soloing. Yeah, generally speaking it isn't *that* difficult to find a team, but there are plenty of exceptions- small servers, players with off-kilter schedules, etc. It behooves the game to be mostly soloable to a greater or lesser extent.
That said, loud caterwauling over the narrow strata of content that 'requires' (to a variable extent) teaming doesn't earn my sympathy, given how much of the game is trivially easy to overcome with whatever character is at hand. -
Quote:no worries, just check your drops and list the expensive ones for a little over 1/2 the 'going rate'.I sadly suck when it comes to playing the market, at least that's been the case in every single game I've tried to do so
You'll make enough to kit out with anything except the absolute top of the line l337 gear that way, and if you decide you need the REALLY good stuff just stop by the market forum, we'll be happy to help you out. -
pretty much anything that's gotten a lot of 'hype' from players is very, very powerful.
Certainly conditions can change (there was a time when /dev was FOTM after all), but generally folks rave about powersets that are really, really good.
Whether they're your personal cup of tea or not is another matter, but it's been my experience over the years that hype follows performance. -
allowing you to defeat spawns much faster & safer than you otherwise could more than compensates for whatever xp it 'costs' you to confuse people.

Quote:Ideally we'd get a 'like' system in conjunction with a search revamp. This would fix a lot. A four star review might as well be a one the way this system works. Forcing that binary choice would help. It still wouldn't be a panacea though. Still to much dreck to filter through. Still crappy rewards, especially for Incarnates.
Being able to narrow the field manually and see some meaningful ratings in that subgroup would be handy. -
a well made GUI would solve quite a few of MA's most glaring faults.
one simple change they could make that would IMHO improve things greatly is removing the star system and imposing a simple option to "like" an arc, like on Facebook.
If you like it, you get a vote. If you don't, you just move on to the next one. Goodbye, ratings griefing.
This was suggested and ignored in Beta, but is still an excellent idea. -

Quote:Oh that mean, mean I19, FORCING you to "grind" for the alpha slot.As someone with altitis (and enjoys switching frequently between toons) I found it very time consuming with the new Stamina set up.
But the biggest chore is the Alpha slot. So many of my toons are 50s that I thought I would enjoy this. But running the same arc over and over for so many of them? Sheesh.
To me this has all just increased the grind factor and lowered the fun factor. X 20.
How dare it! -

ok fiddled around with it a bit and decided to go all out for the cap, as it didn't seem to gimp anything I liked *too* badly. I will miss snipe, though.
Previous build was high recharge/moderate def, this time I went for max def and recharge where I could sneak it in. I may do this as a dual build alternative, give it a 'test drive' so to speak.

I rarely have time for TFs, but over the last few months I've been able to log two Posi Is ,a Posi II, a Katie and just the other night whatever that trial in the Hollows is.
I had great fun on all of them except the Hollows trial, mainly because the guy who formed the team and *seemed* to know what he was doing had his difficulty slider set to +3. When everyone is level capped at 16 (afair), and a couple of our teammates were level BUMPED to 16, +3 doesn't really work.
The worse part was we made pretty short work of things up to the last encounter, where a giant rock guy who threw immense boulders wiped us multiple times before the bulk of our crew had had enough.
However, I blame this poor result on the guy running things being half smart, not on I19. =P -
fix the editor, yes please.
more space....sure why not. I almost never read anything longer than a couple of paragraphs, but realize that some folk want to write a short story in bio form. Text doesn't take up much space, so I say let 'em! -

as someone around here once said,
"Death is the ultimate debuff". -
my one actual suggestion got shot down, but what I do when I'm in the mood for something different is pick an AT I don't have much experience with and then pick the primary and secondary powersets more or less randomly, skipping over anything I've played before (which is how I ended up with grav/TA, actually).
With inherent stamina the early levels shouldn't be too much of a slog whatever you choose. -
with Stamina going inherent /regen is less appealing than ever before, losing even well, you can ignore/skimp on stamina as a justification.
I'm not on board with any defense (if you want D you can build for it with inventions) but I like the other suggestions.
Here's hoping someone's listening.
Regen is in danger of becoming a set that's been left behind by the evolution of the game.
