so y'all won't let players tell each other where to buy the game you produce?
pure marketing genius . -

Clooney would make a great Sinatra. he has the charisma and acting chops to get it done.
Jolie as Monroe is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard.
Might as well ask a praying mantis to be a teddy bear. -
fire/dark is an epic machine of destruction.

Quote:it definitely makes you appreciate the environments more.Hey, that's not a limitation, that's just plain fun! I changed five (I think) characters to Ninja Run/Swift/Hurdle (mostly Naturals) and I'm having a blast between missions, whereas before it was kind of go there and not pay much attention. It's very immersive!
I started him before Ninja Run and he got around with swift, hurdle, sprint & as many GotA +runspeeds as I could stuff into his build. Ninja Run is great because it delivers the same kind of travel experience but is fast enough that I don't get impatient and resentful. Plus the animation is perfect for his concept. -
not much of one for self imposed limitations, but I do have my 'normal human' themed ninja/willpower stalker (with power graphics disabled) who has no travel power but Ninja Run and who has to navigate the game rooftop-to-rooftop whenever possible.
it makes getting to missions an engaging mini-game. -
Quote:The games you mentioned are not comparable to CoH, period.Apparently you missed the point. The point is that games targeting a demographic that isn't really known for having a significant MMO presence are showing higher numbers than this game. That is sad.
It's like saying Ford is in trouble because they don't sell more tricycles than Radio Flyer.
So what? They're not in the tricycle biz. -
Quote:it isn't licensed, it's owned. The other thing is, I think the game engine is liscenced from Cryptic (hence the logos still on the game). Whatever agreements they might have in that regards may well have an impact on their future plans.
Cryptic got to keep their logo on the game, that's it. -
I have no problem with flight after the regime of buffs they've fed it over the past few years.
I mean, I wouldn't kick if they gave it SS top speed with zero end, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. -
If CoH was a game aimed at pre-teens you'd have a point.

I'd like an architectural review- the CoV buildings would 'fit' better than the CoH ones. Drape 'em with some spanish moss, maybe import some of the creepy forest details from Croatoa....done and done.
Aside from a facelift I'd like some kind of Hollows-style content- a spooky TF and some kind of repeatable mission generator wouldn't be too a ton of work and would go a long way to making the zone less of a 'ghost' town (haw haw).
Although I'd support basically anything that doesn't disrupt the main thing I love about the zone- giant spawns of highly flammable zombies to roast. =)
/edit- also , c'mon it's the perfect co-op zone. -

Quote:CoV was in nearly every way a massive improvement on CoH and the current dev crew seems to have a fair grip on what we think is 'fun' and what doesn't work.To be honest, I'm not that enthusiastic about CoH2. Sequels tend to want to fix what was wrong with the first game. That's going to require a very careful understanding of what was fun (even if it didn't work) and what wasn't. Everquest, IMO, did OK on that score, from all accounts FFXIV sucks, so I'm not hopeful.
I'd pre-order a theoretical CoH 2 sight unseen.
r/e the topic of the thread, as I kept repeating to someone quite a while ago I have no emotional investment in how well this game does financially as long as it earns enough to keep the doors open. As it demonstrably has the corporate backing for the long haul, I find these types of threads basically meaningless.
People have been posting them almost literally as long as the game has been around, and the game is still around.
And it has an expansion coming out.
And is hiring new talent.
So, what's the point of these things?
*shrug* -
r/e commons, I've always had good luck with fly and leap generics.

Quote:I've been finding more opportunities than I can effectively exploit over the past few weeks. There's not going to be a lot of flipping going on right now, I'll say that much. The prices are going to become much closer on just about everything because of stock liquidation before GR drops on Tuesday..
My long-term strategy of hoarding salable stuff for the Marketgeddon seems to be an outlier, as people have been shoveling the 'good' stuff onto the market at sometimes fire sale prices. Not sure why, the merger and the population influx from GR guarantee a buying frenzy the likes of which we've never seen. -
Quote:I bet he already hit the cap but realized his amazing farming efficiency coupled with shoddy documentation would post more questions than it answered, so he declared victory and moved on.To get back on topic, does anyone know if eryq has made any progress? I'm getting the feeling that his experiment is discontinued, and if it isn't I wonder what's going on. After all, he has claimed that he farms quite a bit, so a reported two hours within a week (?) is a bit strange.

as the 'outer' of the original SUPER NICHE (LotG recharges) I can report I never caught any flack for it, other than a couple of tongue in cheek complaints from market regs who suddenly had to get real jobs. =P

Quote:the devastation merits wrought on supply at non-max level tells us there was no grand design philosophy at work, it was just another 'on the fly' market adjustment made by people who don't seem to understand the system very well.Merits don't feel clever enough to really be the result of some clever, top-down design. It feels more to me like putty, being pushed into the cracks, and allowing the devs to (temporarily? perhaps?) ignore other problems that are really of low priority, but don't seem to be (eden trial's exploitability was probably not really bothering people all that much, even if it needed fixing).

Quote:chaos = profit!I just plan on staying away from the markets for awhile after GR comes out to let things settle down a bit before getting back in and seeing what the new landscape looks like.
when i say pretty much ANY half-baked scheme will turn big profits in the aftermath of Marketgeddon I'm dead serious. Heck, buy up common IOs for chump change and blow them out at 500k when the tidal wave hits! -
Quote:This is very true.Getting the discount tickets requires the Accolade, and I'm not sure it's worth adding a tip to go after that Accolade. It's not that large an effect. You get 1 25% discount every 24 hours logged out. The most expensive crafting cost in the game is 600K, so the most this Accolade can save you is 150K a day. As discussed earlier, once you hit 100M influence, 150K just doesn't matter anymore.
Also it seems that the discount coupons cap out at 10, making them even less useful.
I just like getting day job badges and get a kick out of not paying full crafting costs. =P -
I'll be scooting a few well liked but rarely played characters off Triumph to make room for new blood...that's probably it.
-
also, getting crafting discount coupons is handy. red side I do all my work at Sharkhead, so I just hop over to the docks to log out. Saves a good chunk of change on those level 50 IOs.

devs make basic animations, get flamed for animations being generic.
devs make busy, colorful animations, get flamed for animations not fitting some concepts.
it's a tough gig!
