we've all made a bunch of noise about it, but as far as I know we've never gotten a clarification of whether it's WAI or not.

I've done it as a way to get sales badges quick, but I didn't bother documenting the process.
Interesting stuff! -

Quote:Fage is delicious.Have you tried using Greek yogurt instead of regular yogurt? Greek yogurt has a richer consistency than normal yogurt and tends to hold up better than normal yogurt in cooking applications. Fage Greek Yogurt is my favorite to use, and I think it tastes better than normal yogurt.
I love that stuff for eating, but for cooking the consistency is a bit thick IMHO.
Lately I'm doing Greek Gods, because my 'regular' grocery store only stocks lowfat Fage (for some bizarre reason). -

Quote:like the equally useless ooh ooh listing this is going to be expensive! warning, disabling it only lasts until you log out.Umm, you can turn it off. Next time it comes up, look at the bottom of the window.
Given the frequency I've been swapping out characters the last few weeks, it gets old FAST. -

Quote:I usually get rolling with a few hundred K from selling my big inspirations.I've started with as little as 5000 inf before. that takes awhile to ramp up into serious profits though.
The least I've ever started with was whatever I got from killing one even-con in AP on the way to the market. I used that to pick up a few hunks of salvage to flip, and inside a week he was up to a couple million in profit. -
Quote:It's a good way to do a couple of things:Besides, who the heck is going to waste time flipping common salvage when there's so little money in it? Do people really do that?
learn about basic market forces without risking a ton of inf
and
earn sales badges to open up extra slots
But in general, yeah, once you figure out how to successfully flip commons you'd be an idiot not to move up the food chain to the more profitable stuff. -
So, as a parent of a toddler I end up making my share of 'fast food', which I usually try to dress up at least a little bit. Here's a modification that (I think) greatly improves the final product while still appealing to the less than sophisticated two year olds palate.
Mac & Cheese, Goat Style
Take whatever sort of boxed mac and cheese you prefer. Most of them want you to cook the mac then add the flavor packet to some combination of milk & butter to create the sauce.
I mix the packet with plain whole fat yogurt (which is surprisingly hard to find outside of health food stores. Lowfat plain yogurt is foul, if you can't find whole fat don't bother). My favorite is Straus, second choice is Trader Joe's house brand. It imparts the creaminess you want with a bit of an extra flavor kick (I also sometimes sub it for milk in biscuits and pancakes).
My other addition is shredded cheese. A handful of sharp cheddar gives it some pizzazz, fresh shredded parmesan is also a nice addition. If you feel brave you can mix n' match.
Sometimes I can sneak in extra protein in the form of canned tuna, or leftover burger crumbled up.
Simple steps leading to a much tastier final product. -
I like how quickly this turned from a discussion of legacy costume additions to a pie fight.
=D
on topic,
Freakshow armors

Quote:isn't there a forum joke about the Fire dominator with the Blaze-Fire Blast-Blaze attack chain?Misaligned said
It depends greatly on the power. If you can take Foot Stomp from once per 22 seconds [unenhanced] or once per 12 seconds [95% rech] to once per 7 seconds [200% global plus recharge] you've darn near doubled your AOE damage. My numbers could be off, I'm not all that familiar with Super Strength, but when you start having a Foot Stomp-Knockout Blow-[something else] attack chain you're looking at a WHOLE LOT OF DAMAGE IN A HURRY.
=P -
sort of on-topic, I sold a copy of the Mutant pack to a teammate last night because he loved the Organic Armor boots my fire blaster was sporting so much he had to have them for his earth controller.

Quote:Educate yourself, I'm not you tutor. I've posted more than enough on this topic over the years to satisfy my own curiosity on the subject, and even if I hadn't many, many other market regs have documented their own experiments for the rest of us to hash over.Right after you show me some sort of verifiable proof that someone can not change the price of something on the market.
That's called 'peer review', which is the polar opposite of I know a guy who did something and made a lot of inf, therefor MANIPULATION!
The burden of proof is on you for making an argument you refuse to back up. -
Okay a couple of tidbits to add to the observational pile.
First, having a ton of recipes memorized makes for a fun mini-game if you get a chance to go out and level a little. I'm enjoying hitting the base before I log, pulling up the crafting table and seeing what I can create from the salvage that dropped while I was playing.
I usually get a couple of salable IOs out of it, which go for quite a bit more than the raw salvage would have. Three cheers for free money!
Second, that 'useful salvage' warning that is only mildly irritating on my other characters is PROFOUNDLY ANNOYING on Crafticus, since pretty much any drop he gets is usable for SOMEthing he's memorized. Grrrrrrr. -
Quote:the hypothetical n00b low level player who doesn't know anything about the market is actually the main beneficiary of a higher price floor. But I can't help but feel sorry for the Noob Low level player who doesn't know how to play the market (and really bought this game to be a super hero, not a marketeer).
they can hop up to the market, dump all their junk in for some low listing price and be assured of a tidy profit, instead of being victimized for selling during a period of slack demand and receiving a fraction of what their salvage is actually 'worth'. -

Quote:I usually don't like splitting hairs, but CoV wasn't an expansion, it was a GAME.CoV was also an expansion that was a whole lot larger than GR and as a result cost nearly double what GR did when it was released. I'd much rather pay a smaller price and get additional Praetorian levels and content in the upcoming free issues.
GR is explicitly an expansion, and has an appropriate level of content.
CoV *could* be used as an expansion of CoH, but it was also playable as a stand-alone game, which is what many of us did with it before they 'merged' the two.
And as you note CoV shipped with a 'game' price tag. -
Quote:Although I have no way of knowing if they are as successful as they claim or not, I know people who do it. They have done so for a long time, which leads me to believe they are successful enough to continue doing it.
I know a guy who does this thing, and he makes sooooo much money at it so it's totally true! is more comedy than proof.
Details, please.

Quote:it's best to have some vague idea of what you're talking about before stepping to Mac.This coming from the same guy who responded last time that:
"We already know it's not possible, and we've got three years' worth of time and an entire subsection of these forums behind us."
Make up your mind.
Long term, profitable 'cornering' of a market is not possible in this game, or any game where supply is infinite and generated by people just logging in and playing.
there are various things you can do short term to 'manipulate' a market sector, but they are either extremely costly, or unsustainable, or both. -
Quote:There's no point being welcoming, friendly and informative to someone who kicks the door open and starts throwing furniture at you.FWIW I don't agree with everything he is saying. I understand his feelings though and I can understand his position resulting from them. What I'm having more difficulty understanding is the position the 'regulars' are taking. You may want to think about the reputation this forum has built over the years of being welcoming, friendly, and informative. Choosing to perform the last function while being a jerk sort of defeats the purpose.
that's called "stupidity".
*shrug*

and even so, folk here were largely *very* informative.
Shockingly, he wasn't receptive to their information. =P -
dropped another billion on the fire- dunno if I'll be able to log in tomorrow so I launched my payload into the sun a bit early.
If my counting is correct we're up to 26. -
Quote:i've *sort* of done this with my concept/rp stalker. no sets (they're against the rules, at least until I hit 50), but I did stuff a handful of GotA +runspeeds (no travel powers was the rule, and I made him before Ninja Run was an option, so he was just sprinting around the Isles).+Movement speed bonuses are an odd one. Make them too strong and they could get unwieldy or unwanted. But, it would be nice to be able to build a dedicated speedster who could have unsupressed combat movement via set bonuses and slotted sprint maybe? I must try that...
It makes a very noticeable difference- if/when I IO him out I may look to set bonuses for more unsupressed movement goodness. -
I have a couple of characters I've slotted thematically rather than efficiently- the Goat is slotted for +dam, although I'm gradually upgrading him to a more effective build for farming.
And my kat/regen scrapper is built for +regen & melee defense rather than the astronomically more efficient recharge.
but generally, the issue with IO slotting is that a handful of things are wildly more useful to most builds than pretty much everything else on offer. I've slotted other stuff in the full knowledge that I'm going to underperform.
