Quote:welcome to Failville, population YOU.
"We wanted to tell a story that's hip, sexy and moody," said DC Comics' co-publisher Dan DiDio.
Superman is inherently un-hip, inherently un-sexy and as for moody, that's what the Fortress of Solitude is for.
If you want to tell a 'hip, sexy, moody' story find an appropriate character, or create one. Don't shoehorn in the least appropriate guy in your entire catalog. -
Quote:yah, just running 'regular' stuff at X8 generates a goodly pile of loot without getting tedious.I think a lot of it depends on how much you're doing literally the same task/mission/foes over and over. It's one reason that, since I16's difficulty settings, I rarely touch my honest to goodness farms. Even though it's still the same basic actions, different foes do call for slightly different tactics (especially if you're playing near the ragged edge of what you can handle, which I try to to). Switching it up a little among foes goes a long way in keeping me from getting bored really quickly.
It's not as ruthlessly efficient as just resetting the same map full of pushover enemies again and again, but it keeps things fresher. -

Phoenix was a hero.
And since comics are like soap operas, there are examples of villains-turned-hero and vice versa scattered about. Not to mention "heroes" of the Punisher variety who are basically mass murderers.
"it isn't true to the source material" is probably the lamest argument you could trot out against that badge. -
now that's an interesting perspective.

Quote:How, "cannot replicate"?My objection to veteran rewards is based on a simple principle: I am utterly against veterans getting abilities other players cannot replicate.
I got my junk by staying subscribed for a very long time, they can do the same.
There are plenty of in-game rewards I "cannot replicate" thanks to a restricted and unpredictable play schedule...that doesn't mean the players who do shouldn't have them.
Vet rewards are another path of 'advancement', one of many in the game.
It is one of the more egalitarian paths in the game, requiring nothing more than maintaining an active game sub to achieve.
Quote:"Nice little bonuses that give you abilities/options completely new", on the other hand, are divisive and destructive; especially at this late date, new players aren't going to see a 6+ year reward as something "great to look forward to", but something they will never get, thus making veterans "better" than them. -
Quote:I didn't miss the point, I'm mocking it for being ridiculous. You've totally missed the point again - the badge name is offensive because it's totally unsuitable for a game, especially a superhero one - it's being used in a approving way, which is totally wrong.

Stalker gets my vote for laid-back soloing.
Nobody bothers you unless you want them to, pick your targets, take them down fast, stealth missions if you feel like it.
Very relaxing. -
Quote:I also found an online edition if you want to save some $$$.Thanks for that link Nether. I am seriously thinking of buying it to use as a teaching tool for my children. Nothing like showing how dangerous a closed mind can be when it is given room to work.
Some interesting historical context there as well. -

Not Rumor: It will epically suck, like every other Lucas project of the modern era.

Quote:OMG you can buy it from Amazon! There is totally no need at all to have the Halloween witch badge called "Malleus", and the devs really need to change it to something suitable that isn't sick and creepy - just like they managed to name every single other supernatural themed badge in the game without making them sick or creepy.
BOYCOTT!!1111
*rolleyes* -
I just ignore everything that unlocks with the exception of the Talsorian Katana that I ground out on my kat/regen.
Sometimes I get this or that on a random character, but I don't put any energy into it.
If junk unlocked globally I'd probably pay more attention to earning it. -
I have a handful of alts parked ~20 because I haven't spent picks on fitness and don't want to have to respec them after I19.
Can't wait! -
My defining memory of the Walkman Era is rewinding cassettes by sticking a #2 pencil through the spindle and whirling them around by hand to save the batteries.
RIP Sony Walkman, long live its spiritual MP3 offspring! -
Quote:The truth doesn't care if you run from it, and few things are more amusing than someone who puts you on ignore but just can't resist peeking at your posts. You can keep responding to me all you like, my dear little goat. But since I can't see your posts...kinda a bit moot, don't ya think?
=)
Quote:Oh, and I like in your profile how you state you hate poor people.
My profile is totally serious and stuff, and not a satire of my reputation in some quarters. Totally. -
pretty much the best screen name ever.
Welcome aboard!
