Yeah, I was gonna say that. Mine are all Pink, from the bright palette, just like my animations and the effects on my Hellfire Demonling and my Hellfire Gargoyle, but that's only to be expected because the little guys summoned with Hell On Earth are not tiny demonlings, but actual "living hellfire". They don't actually have demon "bodies". Maybe the OP could go out on a limb here and explore other colors than just "black".

um what? Hey, I made a character (emp def) with bright pink animations because of a post I read here about god-awful color combinations for powers (and the worst color for powers in my mind has got to be black), so I just followed the trend with my demon MM... I kinda like it.

And especially in the case of vet respecs, it's best to leave them unclaimed until you need them because IIRC, they do not stack with freespecs.

Maybe not, but this IS a Teen-rated game, not a Mature-rated game. And you ARE expected to live up to the ToS, whether you like it or not. If you don't mind risking an account ban and losing access to your "oh-so-ebil" villain, then go right ahead and curse like a sailor.

Oh, right. Since it's YOU, yes, of course you should be able to do ANYthing you want. Why didn't I see that earlier?

I'm a little more than tired of people using the LAME excuse of "I'm a villain!" to feel entitled to do whatever idiot thing enters their head. God forbid people should feel constrained to alter their behavior to fit into civilization. Yeah, I hear you saying "It's just a game!", but there ARE people behind the keyboards, and if you stand next to me in game spouting obscenities, I WILL petition you.

It's prohibited by the ToS. That should end the conversation right there, but unfortunately it won't.

I say go right ahead, do whatever you want. Eventually, your behavior will get you banned, so I say sooner, rather than later.

I saw Dust Walker early in her career in Steel Canyon fighting Tsoo. I was amazed enough to check her bio and was further amazed. I instantly thought of her when I saw this thread. Outstanding job!

This is a good point. You might be right.

    Quote:
you mentioned that you could get the cape mission from the City Rep, did you go ahead and run that story arc? if not, you might try it and see if that will open up the aura mission from the City Rep.
Yes, I ran the cape mission blue-side. That is why I'm puzzled as to why she won't give me the aura mission. Of course, the reason is that she sees my mission list as full, but that's another mystery. For now, I'm going with the idea that Kalinda has my aura mission waiting for me red-side and that's why I can't get it blue-side.

Just from what you are saying, your aura mission is available on the red side from Kalinda. I would guess that is it based on the fact that you've already done some of Kalinda's missions.

As far as Lorenz, you started his arc by talking to him and we already know that arcs don't close when you switch over. This is to allow you to go back and take the "abandoned" missions.
Hmmmm, interesting. After I switched, I was able to do the cape mission from the City Rep, even though I had done the cape mission red-side before I switched. I wonder if everyone who switches Villain-to-Hero gets this aura mish problem (or at least everyone who uses Kalinda as their first contact). I'll keep this in mind. I'm not gonna switch back to Villain just to check this out, so I guess it'll go to the back burner. Thanks for the help!

As far as Lorenz goes, yeah I understand about arcs staying open, but I also have 2 other mini arcs and Marshall Brass' story arc open and they have all moved to the inactive list, yet Lorenz stays active, not sure why.

Well, the other day I decided to unlock my second costume slot. I was set for +0/x1, no bosses, no AVs. I get the mission, go up the street a little ways, and await my ambush.

I'm looking around, occasionally glancing up because for some reason Tsoo like to run the rails. Then I see a lot of movement down the road. I think to myself, "That can't be mine."

24 Tsoo later, yeah... it was mine. All my level, lots of lieuts and minions. 24 freaking enemies for a solo level 28 (I think) scrapper.
Oh yeah, I've had that. The Tsoo ambush upon leaving Icon after getting the 2nd costume slot mish is legendary. Usually what happens is they keep coming for me until I get overwhelmed and die a pathetic death on the street outside Icon and then have to jog way back from the hospital before finishing the mission. It happens almost every time.

This character is a Hero, a DS/Dark MM switched over from Villain at level 24.

List of Active Contacts not in Atlas Park:
    Ashwin Lannister
Christine Lansdale (open story arc, no missions open)
Dr. Cheng (open story arc, no missions open)
Kalinda (I'm guessing she's active cause this character just hit 30 and used to be a villain)
Laura Brunetti (open story arc, no missions open)
Lorenz Alsaldo (open mini story arc, no missions open, dunno why he's active, he's been active since I switched to hero)
    Lou Pasterelli
Marvin Weintraub (open story arc, no missions open)
    Merisel Valenzuela
    Peter Stemitz
    Phillipa Meraux
Stephanie Peebles (open mini story arc, no missions open)

  14. This has happened once before, but it somehow fixed itself later, but this time, I'm not so sure.

I just hit 30, so I trained and then went to Atlas to see the City Rep about Auras. She tells me it's her policy not to overburden heroes, and tells me I already have too much to do. (You know the spiel, insert "max number of missions text" here) The problem is, I currently have NO MISSIONS in my list. So no Aura mission for me. I go to Talos, grab a radio mision and come back, thinking she's got to see I only have one mission now. Nope, no deal. I tried logging out and rebooting, when I came back, same deal, "You already have too much to do, yadda yadda".

Has anyone else had this problem? What do I gotta do to get her to see my mission list is NOT full?
  15. Every time I hear someone say a /regen already has enough regen and recovery I laugh so hard I start crying.

This is very valid. I'm not sure how to include more outdoor maps in a randomly-generated map system short of just creating them the way they always have and adding them in. (Maybe add in a x by y area of an already existing zone? Hmm, the forest ("park"?) zones would be problematic (maybe use Perez Park?), but as it is, we only really have one "forest-like" zone now. Isn't the map the "War Wall Defender" mission uses part of Talos Island or something?)

As for resources, yeah. I'm not a big hardware tech person; if they simply cannot do it, then they can't. The tech has advanced pretty far since the original roll-out of CoH (look at UM), though. But admit it, it would be cool if they could swing it now.

Really "new" maps would need not just new ways of rearranging the map tiles, but all-new map geometry. Which someone would have to design, someone would have to model, it would have holes in it that need to be found and plugged... It is not at all a trivial undertaking.
I, for one, wouldn't mind an issue devoted to new map elements, along with the addition of randomly generated maps and a map creator for AE. Because, yeah, I understand it's a huge undertaking. And when I first mentioned the randomly-generated map system, I assumed there would be new map elements as well, perhaps add twice as many as we have now. And also, make the "special" rooms to be a certain percentage (maybe like 5%, or maybe one per map) of the total per map. Sure, it would be a grand undertaking, but put a special team on it, and they could work on it for a few issues until it was ready to roll out. I definitely wouldn't mind dev team time being put forth towards improving the look of our beloved game. (Especially with it being a major complaint of the player base. Anything to keep players playing longer. (My blasters and scrappers love new pets. ))

Given that I cut my teeth on the original Diablo where all maps of all sizes were always randomly generated but always drawn from the same tilesets, I have never had a problem adjusting to City of Heroes. I care that the tileset looks good, which most of them do, and then in actual practice mostly care about the layout of the "level."
Hmmmm, randomly generated maps... When I first started playing CoH, and new to everything, I actually thought that maybe the maps were randomly generated on the fly, like when you zoned in. I mean some of the rooms are the same, maybe slightly different, but each and every map of the same type uses the same room elements. Like office buildings always have the same x number of rooms used over and over.

What it looks like to me is that the devs had/have a tool that they can place rooms on to create a map. Then of course, once made, a map remains static to be used again and again. But what if they took this map creation tool and put it in the game, so that every office/warehouse/sewer you go to, when you walk in the front door, the map is randomly generated from these room elements? Then instead of having maybe 20 maps per tileset, you would have virtually an infinite number of possible maps. (And for the grognards out there, maybe have an option "Random Maps ON/OFF" in options.)

When I was new, I didn't know what would be around any given corner. But now that I can recognize the maps, I know what to expect where. But an on-the-fly map generation ability would extend the life of this game considerably, IMO. And it should be so easy to incorporate into the game. And then, after that, why not change the AE system to use either the canned maps or add a map creator so that players can create their own maps?

Please tell me you mean that each character only has to do one morality mission per alignment that gets randomly picked from a pool.

Are you saying there are only FOUR morality missions per level range in total? That's all? If true, that's ridiculous, IMO.

So this means all level 50 Heroes who farm them for the Hero alignment points are truly doing the same exact mission over and over and over? Yes, I understand that the character also does more tip missions than morality missions, but come on. It sounds like a disturbing omission to me. We already have enough "reviewers" claiming all the missions in CoX are the same as it is...

And if accompanied by an AV, your "bring em all" plan has a huge potential to wipe. Groups including especially tough mobs are about the only ones I see being pulled one by one anymore.

  25. Be sure to check the power consumption on the new card so you'll know whether or not you'll have to buy a new power supply to handle it.

When I upgrade, I'll be upgrading my 7800 GTX, so I already know I'll most likely have to get a power supply too.
