I'll chime in here and say ice, followed by sonic, is the king of solo/ST damage. The ice attacks hit hard and are fast animating. You can plant most enemies by throwing an attack chain in before they can actually draw their weapon. Sonic is a bit slower i suppose, or at least has more rooting, but the stacking of -res makes taking out hard targets like bosses a breeze.
After those 2, i suppose fire comes in 3rd. Fire however will always get my vote for teams though. AoE carnage is sooooo nice in teams -
attack vitals together with empower combo, though tbh i use weaken + attack vitals to take out hard targets
-
Dont meant focus as in picking powers, more meant focus as in, in a team i want to focus on using primary powers rather than secondary powers. I've teamed with a fair few mind/emps in the past and they seemed to be more occupied with their emp part in a team than with their mind part. Ofcourse, this could also be down to me just being unlucky with alot of bad examples.
PS. dont wanna say they were bad players or whatever, they were good controllers and they did, in fact, control, yet they seemed to be pushed more into keeping team alive with emp rather than controls. -

Ah, such a beautiful reminder why I never PvP after three years of Counterstriking at the Dawn Of Online Gaming.
I love nostalgia.

wait wait what? counterstrike the dawn of online gaming? ....lol
I would have accepted it if you said Doom I/II or Quake I was the dawn of online gaming(well shooter wise)
Ah.. pwnin n00bz on Q1 when you called someone a cheater if he had broadband and the playerlist would be in constant motion as people would d/c cause of their crappy modem connections.. good times
PS. before anybody mentions it, yes I know there was online gaming way before that as well -
dammit.. i go away for one night, and then suddenly all the PvP appears huh?
btw.. both you and spag suck! -

Then finally you have seismic smash for hard hitting with chance to stun a boss in one hit.
[/ QUOTE ]
not chance to stun, guaranteed hold.. iirc its a mag 4 hold -
grats mate, inf plix

Problem is, (as i believe i stated earlier) I dont really fancy making a /emp troller. I want to be able to focus on my primary (which if you make /emp is harder), and occassionally solo if no teams are available (which seems to happen a fair bit). I'm at the point of making a duo with a mind/rad, just wondering what'd be better with nother mind/rad.. a double mind/rad or a mind/kin? (narrowed my pick down to those 2 choices
)

Not to mention fear wont detoggle anyway. Best bet to detoggle someone is TF i reckon, iirc ithas 100% stun chance and does a nice amount of damage to boot. Stun's animation time is just not worth it, couldve used that time to smack him silly with other punches.
PS. Bout stun not doing anything to them, you sure they werent CMed? -
doh im afraid i forgot about it all >.> been so busy lvlin my corr over the days i forgot all bout this. Maybe next time a reminder on forums like a day, or 2, in advance would be an idea. Sorry for not showin up guys, but i reckon i didnt miss much

Even though you dont like immobs, i'd suggest getting the AoE immob at least, seeing that + stalagmites = heaven, practically another AoE hold.
Also get hurricane and freezing rain earlier in the build. Freezing rain is an ace control tool and not to mention greatly boosting the damage output of your team. Hurricane will be one of your best survival tools, as earth/storm WILL get you every enemy in the mish gunning for you.
Not sure if VG needed holds or not, seeing it ticks holds rather than 1 tick of hold (like most aoe holds) it keeps reapplying itself. I'd slot it for recharge over hold tbh.
No need slotting defdbf in freezing rain, its great out of the box. Freed up slots can better be put in fossilize (rech) and stalagmites (nother rech).
Personally wouldnt leave tornado till that late either, but then again, if youre still intending on not using immobs i suppose its use is a bit less. Tornado does a fair bit of damage and it aint too bad if your opponents are locked to the floor.
Hope that's any use, as for your initial comment "a bit of soloing", trust me, soloing earth/storm is hard. Its a control powerhouse, but lacks the damage output to solo. -

Dont forget alot of ganking also happens cause one side might not like to team up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Apart from the solo players not teaming being ganked, sometimes the solo players go for the same enemy player and gank unintentionally.
[/ QUOTE ]
true.. it works both ways, because theyre singled out they aim for the weakest in the herd, possibly ganking one player -
[ QUOTE ]
Ok maybe balance was the wrong word, but the point is that a lot of other players that might be up for some casual PvP dont have s go because they know they will be ganked in the zones, ok ppl say go to the arena but thats an easy answer so the gankes can have there way IMO, we all want more pplz to PvP and this might well get more ppl involved, im not saying it will cure all the PvP problems that pplz talk about on these boards but leaving it as it is will do nothing but compound the problems Pvp has now.
all i im after at at the end of the day is for more pplz that play and love this game to PvP
[/ QUOTE ]
Everybody's saying arena, cause thats what it for, not to play into the hand of the gankers. Zones arent balanced, arena is.. you want a casual pvp session with the risk of unbalance? go zones, you want to have a balanced fight? go arena. Its really that simple.
Sure, it is annoying when you get ganked, but its not the end of the world. Dont forget alot of ganking also happens cause one side might not like to team up. What you get is that side WITH a team picking on all those nice solo people scattering around the zone. Who's fault is that? Is it the fault of the zone, or the fault of the victim for not teaming up like his opponent? You also dont run at an AV in a mish 1 by 1 do ya?
Plenty of times i go on vills in sirens, try to form a team, then the majority of vills in sirens is ofcourse stalker so they say "no tnx, i get more rep solo" or summit like that. Then 5 mins later you hear said players shout over broadcast "oh, 3 v 1, REAL fair" followed by abuse. Its simple, if you get ganked, get some others to join and gank back. If you are on the side that is ganking, make things fairer by going into smaller teams.
I'm sorry, but limits on zones will not work, nor should they work cause as said they already HAVE a system for balanced fights. -
hm, thought when doing hami the blast bot helmet was suggested seeing that was most friendly for gfx cards.
On the regular raids, nice initiative, however does this mean we get less spamming on global channels bout the raid? Something that has been getting quite annoying these days -
As stated before, even teams does NOT mean a balanced fight. Not to mention there is PvE in the zones as well. If you want pure pvp, with even teams etc there is this nice invention for that since issue 4.. called the Arena. Sorry, I just dont see this working and tbh i dont want it to see working either
-
the prob with the animations i found most annoyin on my bs/reg is that even after youre done swinging you still got 0.2/0.3 secs of being unable to do something. Fooled me plenty of times thinking i was in time with activating an insp or heal. It takes some gettin used to
-
aye, a good player with a bad build will always be able to give a good build with a bad player a run for their money (unless ofcourse, said bad build is just of no use in pvp.. but those are only a few extreme cases)
-
yeah, broadsword IS quite powerful in PvP cause of the sheer force it brings. Even resisted it still deals a fair amount of damage, if unresisted.. well.. it HURTS (easily doing bout 900 dmg to a squishy in WB
)

Wyx pretty much nailed the kin aspect, however do know that playing a kin is like playing on crack, so it depends if your GF can handle that playstyle.
As for /rad, its a nice debuff set that will keep pets alive a fair long while, not to mention you can play it more passive than kin as the best debuffs are toggles, meaning you got more time to use your primary for aoe carnage (if you go with fire/rad). Not to mention AM helps quite nicely with the MM's endurance management. As for the heal, together with dark's twilight grasp it will surely be enough to heal pets. Tho the true power of rad is in its debuffs.
Cold is a great set with a mix of buffs and debuffs. Problem is that it will be a late bloomer, i.e. the really good powers are at the later lvls, compared to kin and rad which got some of its best powers early on. I wouldnt bother buffing all the pets, even though it can somebody be handy depending on the situation (e.g. if youre gathering just before an AV fight, every little bit helps). Benumb, sleet and heatloss however will make short work of most enemies you find, not to mention sleet is a nice minor crowd control tool with the knockdown effect in it. I'd say dark/cold is a nice soft control set with decent damage output.
If I would have to summarize, i'd say:
ice/kin: max damage and carnage, low on other aspects
fire/rad: quite decent damage output, bit safer with the extra debuffs
dark/cold: nice soft control, at higher levels quite good damage output when you get your own debuffs, has some nice survivability buffs for your team -
I pretty much agree with what phil said, rad is a bit safer but less damage, fire is just plain damage and carnage

being there or not, I'm here on the forum, meaning I'm here during this whole discussion. If you guys really want to discuss it like that, do it in private without the rest of the community having to suffer it. Right now its just a struggle to compete for being right in a community that prolly doesnt care who is right or not
