Unless something changed very very recently I'm pretty certain you are mistaken here (or I an misunderstanding you). AM increases your character's global recharge rate, and thus makes itself come back faster. You can see this difference very easily by activating AM and just standing around timing until it is fully recharged, then activating it again, dying immediately and then watching how long it takes to recharge.

In my experience I usually stagger them so as to have a bonus to recharge as much of the time as possible, whether I'm on a team or solo. The only time I don't stagger is when I have managed to make them both perma (through buffs from others usually, like Speed Boost)
  2. Why not leave the powers AoE but have the endurance cost based on the number of targets it affects (like repel). First you'd have to make it so that you could couldn't recast the same buff on a pet that already has it, then make it so that it goes through and buffs each pet (that needs it) and costs you endurance each. If you don't have enough endurance to rebuff all of them it stops halfway (and you have to recast it again later at which point if buffs whatever pets are remaining that need it).

I realize that this is more coding but seems like a much more polished solution that having multiple powers.
  3. I simply gave all 6 of my bots numeric designations (in binary of course since my villain is Lord Binary). So my assault bot is "42" in binary "101010", my T1 bots are other favorite numbers like 7 (111), 13 (1101), etc
  4. I've got a Bots/Traps Mastermind that I've been playing and looking ahead to epic power pools I was wondering about Power Boost, I know that it only boosts toggle powers for as long as Power Boost is active but that it boosts click buffs for the duration of the click power. What about Forcefield Generator? Does it get any boost at all? My guess is that it does not since it is a pet power, but just wanted to double-check.
  5. I see in the description of Hurricane that it provides a -60% range debuff on foes.

Does that only affect the range of people who are inside the area of effect of Hurricane (25ft)? Or does it somehow affect the range of anyone who is firing at a target inside the area of effect of Hurricane?

If it is the first, doesn't that make the debuff mostly useless? If an enemy is inside the 25ft AoE of Hurricane, most normal ranged attacks with ranges of 60-80 will still be 37.5-50, plenty to still hit the target. Even cones with ranges of 40 or so will still have a range of 25...which means if they are close enough to be affected they are close enough to still be in range... I don't suppose it can reduce the range of melee attacks to the point that they can't be used?

Anyone have any knowledge/experience about this?

    Dual Box MM's

I've multi-boxed several different groups of MM's, in groups of 3:

    Thugs/Pain
    Robots/Traps
    Zombie/Pain
    Mercs/various
    Ninjas/FF
several others who didn't get as high a level.

All of them have been fun and are not really that hard to run. I have some awefully advanced controls set up for them to make me even more effective that your run-of-the-mill dual-boxer, but even without those, the Thugs/Pain are amazing. The stacked defense from the enforcers, plus the +regen from Pain (right now at level 24 my pets and I are gaining like 20 HP per second) make us nearly invincible. I use grant invisibility on my MM's, then simply run into a large spawn, lets the thugs grab aggro (since they have +Defense, not the MM's) and then just level everything. I've done Mayhem missions where 4+ waves of longbow showed up at the same time I was already fighting several groups of cops and we wasted everything easily (only losses would be a suicidal arsonist or two who ran out of the buffing range).

With the Bots/Traps MM's I used some specialized binds so that I can stay back at maximum range and send all my MM's bots to attack specific targets. Then the MM's can hang just behind the firing line of bots and buff/heal or attack.

The only reason I can think of that multi-boxing MM's would be harder than any other class is on maps with small doorways, I have at one point tried 8-boxing a full team of masterminds...almost all indoor maps made me cry (of course it probably make you cry even if you were one single-boxing on a team of 8 MM's).

How do you do that? I've been out of game for a couple years and I've forgotten (if I ever knew : )

And thanks for getting me the name as well, but for future reference I'd like to know how to do it.
  8. Anyone know the mastermind "Anti-Rainbow"? I need to see if I can get a hold of them. If anyone knows them, please have them contact me.
  9. I think 4/1 is actually the perfect day for devs of all MMORPG's to do "test runs" on the more outlandish ideas they've been kicking around. If the playerbase responds badly to the "joke" then they simply yell "April FOOLS!" If they respond well, then they put it in. Maybe we still will have visual sounds!

Seriously though, as I was reading the announcement I was laughing cause I think it would actually be fun (of course you'd have to be able to turn it off at times), and until I got to the part about them removing all regular sounds from the game I wouldn't have had any problem with this addition at all, I'm hoping I'm right about it being a feature the devs are interested in and just wanted to see what players thought in a relatively DOOOOOM free environment.

(Of course the implication that "buying speakers or headphones" really qualifies as part of the "building their own computers" process kind of made me laugh...

This will continue through the weekend and conclude the night of Sunday, February 10th.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Please define 'night' used in the referenced quote.

    6:00 PM EST?

12:00 AM EST (Actually Monday morning)

When the server resets on Monday Morning?

    8:13 MST?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I believe that past double xp weekends have ended with the server reset on Monday AM.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They usually run from Friday at noon (EST) to Sunday at noon (EST).

    [/ QUOTE ]

That one I know is completely wrong...unless you are in some weird time zone, or maybe live in Ouroborus.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, that's when they say the event goes from. How come we never get good information?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I believe they usually list the times as "noon to noon" or "midnight to midnight" but in practice it usually runs from server maintenance to server maintenance - and the devs just say "you got more double xp time than we advertised, quit whining
  11. I'd be all for this, with one possible caveat. Maybe limit the accolades to levels where it is possible to get them. ie: if it is not possible to get a certain accolade before level 20, then exemp'ing below 20 you'd lose the accolade. That way it remains "fair" to those below that level that have no chance at all of having that accolade.

On the other hand this would create more work as with each new patch it would have to be checked to make sure that the requirements of an accolade haven't changed.

    Still, /signed either way

Yah, I'm getting that same "poor for living" tell every night, multiple times now... one thing I have found out is that their site has a Customer Service e-mail...

I wonder how much they'd like it if an entire forums worth of people flooded their e-mail with garbage spam...

not that I'm promoting that sort of thing...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course if you send them an email then the spammers would then have your email address too...

I'd be willing to wager that they wouldn't mind the spam as much as you would
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Acting at the speed of molasses maybe. I reported the dude doing it on Pinnacle when he hit my first character. 45 minutes later after getting my 4th, I re-reported.

For my efforts I got back a nasty note about "don't double report things" ... a further three hours later. Weaksause, bigtime. So the guy got to spam for about 3 hours. Response time to gold spammers has GOT to come down, otherwise you may as well not bother.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well you need to understand what has to happen when you report someone. Sure, they could put someone on 24 hour alert that when a petition comes in that says "so-and-so just sent me a RMT ad" they ban that account. But of course then you'd get ticked off when someone petitions YOU just to be a jerk.

When you get an advertisement tell from these guys, you do exactly what is says all over this thread, /ignore, /gignore, and report them. They have people go through the petitions, investigating this, and banning accounts...

And yes, you're going to get flamed for reporting it twice that close together BECAUSE IT DOESN'T DO ANY GOOD. Let me repeat that: Reporting something multiple times does not help you in any way! At all, if nothing else it hurts because there are just that many more petitions for them to sort through.

I can not believe how many people have trouble with this surprisingly simple concept. RMT tells are NOT game breaking, they are irritating, sure, but not game breaking, Cryptic and NCSoft are not going to break out an emergency squad to make sure they all get dealt with within a 5 minute window of their being reported.

Can I move between American and European servers?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, that service ended quite a while ago.

Is there a technical reason why additional character slots cannot be added per server? I understand that there needs to be some kind of limit (to prevent name camping and general resource issues).

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm going to second this. I would love to have more character slots. I like having my villains and heroes on the same server because I like the people I play with there, Blue and Red side.

Perhaps a way to move character slots from one server to another. I could move 6 slots from two other servers so that I had a total of 24 slots on my home server.

A "serverless" environment has been talked about. Perhaps you could put all 132 character slots (11 servers x 12 slots per server) in one "bank" then when you make a character you simply choose an empty slot and then choose which server that character will live on. The only thing I've ever used the 120 slots that are not on my home server for is testing builds and attending special events...

sux... i buy a second account so my wife and I can play CoX together and now i have to try to make a new toona nad level up to catch her ? Not to fun... how bout adding that for the community....Lighthouse ???

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do you have any idea how fast this would degenerate to "Level 50 Inv tanker 4 sale. $500.00 cheap! Activates Kheldian ATs!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sad, but true, it would make selling characters an option as opposed to whole accounts and also even harder to track.
  17. The one thing I'm disappointed in is I wish there was something in place for group transfers. I've always played on Victory and don't really want to leave, but I don't have any free character slots. I'd love to move all my villains to some other server and keep my heroes on Victory, but I can't afford to pay for each villain to move and I don't want to split them up. I wish somehow it could be made so that the charge was counted per transfer rather than per character (so that moving X number of character from a single server to another server was just one transaction).

Or maybe have it be a charge for one day of transfers, you pay the fee and for one day you can move as many characters as you like. It still prevents people from jumping back and forth all the time, but it allows you to arrange your characters on whatever server you like.
  18. I finally figured out how to do this with my one toon who has flying about 2 weeks ago, let me see if I can remember how the bind works:

    /bind w "+forward$$e flypose 1"

I am pretty certain that is the command I used, I noticed some odd things with it that when you let off of the key it tends to play the fly animation one last time, but it's not really a problem.

I'm not totally sure on this, but I am fairly certain that they removed the functionality of two different binds, one for whena key is pressed and another for when it is released.

I am pretty certain the "+" on the "+forward" command works the same sort of way though, once you let off the key you should stop moving forward. Do note that I discovered that you can only have two keys bound for move forward, so if you've been playing around with binds to other keys you might have to unbind them first.
  19. Ok, so I've seen lots of posts about people that discuss using the new consignment shop to transfer large amounts of influence between high and low level characters, but the impression I got from them was that they were talking about characters that were on the same server. Since AFAIK the trade limit is actually going to be raised sometime "soon" then that part will be moot, but in this interview with gamespot Positron says clearly that consignment stuff will be cross-server.

So I would assume we could use this to transfer infuence from one character on one server to a character on a different server (of course you have the same problems/difficulties as were listed in the other threads about using the consignment house for influence transfers, but hey! This would be awesome news for those of us like me who have a pretty severe case of Alt-itis to the point that we can't fit all our characters on one server.
  20. Quick question about the villain respec trial. I know the vines respawn (boy do I from a failed attempt last night!)

But do they respawn even after you've killed all of them and started in on the AV in the middle? Or do they stop respawning once you've gotten them all dead and once?

And just to see if I should really bother, do you think a lvl 32 bots/dark mastermind and a lvl 31 bots/ff mastermind have a chance of duoing the AV?
  21. Looks like you've found the "Wi" bug. I used to play Asheron's Call and that was the name that was developed for really weird aggro issues. Fortuantely in AC you could redesign your character completely so that if you discovered you really did have the Wi bug, you could make your guy into a tank so that became his purpose.

It could be the same sort of issue here in Heroes, in AC the game assigned a unique number to each person based on their account name and their character's name. If you had the right combination you ended up at the top of every bad guy's hate list.

Try doing some more concrete testing with it, ie: see how far away from the spawn you can stand and still get them to go after you. I'd love to hear more about this.
  22. I have been working on my AR/NRG blaster and when playing with the hero planner I noticed it listed Boost Range as having a duration of only 15 seconds while you list it at 30?

Also, what is the actual bonus from boost range, the hero planner lists it as a 75% boost to range, so just under double normal range...

I wondered if you had some actual ingame numbers for Boost Range (so i can update my planner if I need to).

    Thanks,
  23. I had an idea similiar to this not too long ago, mostly I was simply thinking about making the longest range character I could (assault rifle was the primary I chose simply because I've always liked it and wanted to make one).

This sounds like a lot of fun, I'll definitely have to give it a try.

    Hover Speed

Yeah, ED (Enhancement Diversification) means that after the 3rd SO, the effect from each subsequent one drops off REALLY fast, to the point that I believe 6-slotting something now gives you less bonus that even 4-slotting did pre-ED.

The flight speed cap of hover hasn't changed (I'm pretty sure that hover and flight both have the same speed cap), but you can't hit the cap with hover without outside help (as I mentioned before, a kinetic with speed boost, a couple of rad defender/controllers with Accelerate Metabolism, or some other simliar power).

If you're not really worried about the speed, take hover, as you mentioned it has lots of other advantages over Fly.
  25. Nebuzaradan

    Hover Speed

I believe the old wisdom was that 6 single origin enhancements made hover about as fast base flight speed, however since ED you can no longer get that large of a boost.

So if you're wanting to hover as fast as a fly, you'd need some other plan (like making friends with a Kinetics defender/controller that has speed boost.)
