Quote:Hi there Mr. Robin. I'm an artist myself, but I have this problem with perspective. I want to get to know Perspective, but Perspective never calls. Perspective must have Caller ID too because Perspective never answers when I try to get in touch.Hey everyone, hope you all had a safe and happy holiday season.
I've decided one of my resolutions for the new year going forward is to spend more time creating art!
After so many years of drawing absolutely nothing I've come a long way in the past few months putting
up more than 40 pieces in the last 6 months or so (most were pencil drawings but some were ink and some color).
Well for the new year I want to do 40 more... but in 60 days.
That's right 2 months. I don't know if this will be possible or not (it's still the busiest time of the year
for my computer business) but hey why not shoot for the stars right?
So yeah if any of you want me to try and draw one of your heroes... GIMMEH REFFFFS!
All the usual stuffz apply i.e. I cannot guarantee I will draw every hero posted here (or any of them for that matter),
I do not know if all drawings will be CoH related (though I suspect most of them will be) as I may need to switch it
up once in a while, I also do not know if the 40 will be pencil sketches, pen and ink, or color work it's just whatever
comes to me on that particular day.
This thread is mainly so I can have one easy place to come for references and inspiration... it also lets me know who
is interested in having me draw them, so post em if ya got em and click the button in my sig to go to the artz!
That said, I have a picture of my big bad villain that I drew myself a year ago, and was wondering if you could maybe make it a little more... dynamic. A turned head, maybe a profile turned at a third for depth.
Here it is.
Nalrok Ath'Zim, demon overlord. His proportions are strange; I intended them to be as he's not a human. Wider shoulders, enormous ribcage, long arms. His legs are giving me trouble so... he's half the evil he normally is.
If you choose to give it a go I will probably explode with joy as your artwork is dazzling and quite skillful. :3 -
Quote:I'm gonna agree with Bill here; you're doing an awful lot of insulting, assuming and down-putting to state that you're done "being bullied."You know what. This is crap. I'm not going to be bullied like this.
If you want REAL answers to what you could do different then YOU TELL ME what you did at first instead of expecting me to guess.
But yea, I'll repeat. Based ONLY on the information you provide HERE.
Trapdoor was nearly dead (Stygian Return doesn't do much damage).
Twisted Toon's toggles dropped.
Twisted Toon's character was killed.
You died because you got mezzed in a fight where you only needed to hit him ONE MORE TIME.
You did something wrong. With no more information I can assuredly say you could have hit Dwarf. If you didn't TAKE Dwarf then that's something you did wrong. Your AT gets a power to deal with mezzes. If you don't take it then you should expect to have problems with mezzes.
With more information I could be more specific, but you'd apparently rather play guessing games than actually say what inspirs you brought, what your build is, or what your strategy was. -
To Wavicle and Memphis_Bill:
I'm grinning at you guys. Regardless of what either of you think, know or believe the change is in place at the judgement of the devs.
THAT'S case closed. It's done. This thread is effectively moot, as the change has been made and the likelihood of it being reversed is very slim.
Can I get a modlock here?
Edit: Also, Wavicle, you need a lesson in not contradicting yourself. -
The title of this thread catches me off guard considering BS/Regen was FotM for... years in both PvE and PvP.

Quote:You misunderstand. I was saying "no he wasn't" to you implying that Holacaust was deliberately saying Trapdoor lost all his powers when you pulled him into the hall. Which he was not. So, no he wasn't.YOU WERE THERE with me during my solo mission, and saw everything that went down? AWESOME! Is that a temp power? Can I purchase it in the NCSoft store?
Take your own advice. Just because you haven't seen what's happened with other players doesn't mean it didn't happen, such as being able to beat the mission with ease. That's the biggest problem with the arguments against this particular task; those who had trouble with it refuse to believe others have not. You are among them. -
Your explanation doesn't really change much of what you said. You CAN lay traps while getting hit, just not the last two tiers.

Quote:No he wasn't.The problem here is that you are talking as if pulling Trappy into the control room nullifies all his powers. Haha, not so fast: he has that one-shot melee power that seems to have a 100% chance to hit. It certainly hit my Defender and it hit him good. Multiple times.
Also I have yet to see that power; I ran this on a controller and a corruptor and neither of them were one-shotted. Invest in defense or, like I mentioned earlier, grab some purples.
Quote:Also, once again your reasoning is wrong: if the developers intended Trappy to be fought with all his clones up, we would not be able to kill them. See what I did there? OKTrappy is ranged AND melee. If you forget that he will be happy to remind you.
Oh wait.
(Interesting side note for you: Almost all enemies in the game have both ranged and melee powers.) -
I've honestly been eye-rolling at your last few posts in this thread. You're letting rampant speculation govern your replies without taking into account that this may actually have been a combat oversight by the devs.
God forbid someone on a forum is wrong, though. -
Quote:Funny, I just got done talking to Dechs about rolling a Dark/Kin tanker. Glad to hear it'll be fun!I have tried many tanks at level 50 (Shield, Ice, WP, Elec).
When they released i18 I started playing a Dark/KM tank and it had quickly become my favourite tank to play.I
I have since slotted it so that it is softcapped to Melee/Ranged/AOE and its survivability is amazing. I went for the Cardiac Radial Boost for the end management and it works great.
I took OG too as a lvl49 power and use it when needed. Is nice for some soft control.
I have tanked the 2 new TF's on multiple occasions without any trouble, while having lots of fun with KM at the same time.
/logs in and rolls one up -

Quote:That's me, on a Brute.I thought you didn't take the mez toggles... or am I remembering wrong?
On a Tanker (if I HAD a Dark tank) it'd be a totally different story.
Or the second or third, if you have enough recharge. Any group that wants to kill my Dark Armor character needs to prep for putting me down two or more times depending on how stubborn I'm feeling. When I fought Holtz and the Honoree (at the same time, mind you) I used Soul Transfer 3 times.
And remember, this is on a BRUTE. A Tanker will be MUCH hardier. -
Quote:Ah. He probably popped his stupid version of Unstoppable. It literally puts him at 100% Smash/Lethal. You need either a Psi character or a really reliable /Rad.There were two tankers (including my electric/ice guy) and a brute, beyond that I don't remember. Everything else in the TF was fine, we just didn't have the damage (or possibly the right debuffs) we needed to put the Honoree out of our misery. We'd get him down to maybe 1/4 health and then he'd just stop taking damage for what felt like four or five minutes at a time, during which he'd regain what health he'd lost. Then, boom, we'd start doing damage again and the cycle would repeat.

Quote:Those are Devouring Earth Razorvines. D:Because they're Evergreens!
Not buying that? Plant Controllers did it.
No? Darn, you're hard to please. So ... Wizards!
Okay fine! Paragon Planning Department found replacing real trees after superhero fights too expensive, so they're actually made of plastic. There. You happy now? -

The thread is still boiling down to the "go team if it's hard, congrats if it's not" people against the "I should be able to solo everything no matter what it is" people.
Going rather well for the only flame-inducing post I've ever made.
I still think that the people beating their fists on the wall should either get a team or stop trying to just smash through his regen. Back out, buy reds and purples from Ramiel, run back in and trash him and his bifurcations if it really is that difficult. The means exist to win.
Also I'm in the 'exploit fix' crowd. -
What enhancements do you have in him?
If it's anything but a regular EndRDX IO, it won't apply to all of his powers. For example; damage/endurance IO's won't affect his chill aura or Shiver. -
Quote:CoF can be used to stack -ToHit on enemies. Only reason I don't have CoF is because I opted out on personal preference. One day I may drop hasten and try it out again.Loving all the info., thanks for that build Emberly good insights. Dechs and Nalrok both of your guides were very helpful, exactly the stuff i needed to hear when i made this post.
One thing that confuses me on some of these posts...why play /DA if you aren't using the powers that make it unique? CoF, OG, CoD, Soul Transfer...those are the "gimmicks" that made me interested in the powerset. Without the bag of tricks wouldn't it just be better to play plain old /Invul or even /elec?
OG frustrates me. XD
And the biggest reason to use /Dark Armor, IMO, is it's utilities. Dark Regen, the massive Psi resist, and Soul Transfer are all incredible powers. -

Static Field will knock your enemies out and pulse that sleep. It will drain their endurance. Should you stand in the field, you'll get a hefty recovery boost. Imagine if you put down a circle that have you endurance per enemy standing on it.
-
Remember: Most mez protection powers have a max of 12.975 magnitude protection. 4 mag-3 mezzes (boss level) will put you under. So yeah, always carry some breakfrees.

Quote:Doooooom. You and others are making this all about LRN2PLAY.
*I* can defeat Trapdoor toe-to-toe on any level 50 toon using nothing but inspirations. I don't even need the lava.
I know how to play.
I object not because "he's too difficult" but because what they did here in removing a typical tactic is being done too often. Not only famously in other ways like disallowing Warburg Missiles in the CoP, but I've seen this pop over and over again in Beta, often Closed Beta, where non-exploitive ingenuity on the part of the players is rewarded in mechanical 'fixes' (and some of them were horribly ugly kludges they should be ashamed of) to remove the player-invented tactic so as to force the encounter to be played in only one mechanical way.
You all do know that MMO's and CRPGs usually get very high praise when they set up their encounters so as to allow multiple solutions and tactics, right? That's the gold standard of 'good computer gaming.'
What's been happening in the past 6 months is all a giant step backward. This makes for 'bad computer gaming' since it's so restrictively scripted.
While the storyline opens up to branching trees and multiple options, the gaming mechanics gets straitjacketed.
Trust me, this is just the tip of the iceberg and such 'fixes' are happening fast and furious making this game, IMO, worse. -

Quote:Alright, let me put it another way: When I tried to use it, 85% of the spawns I'd jump in to would wander around like idiots... and then wander away. So long as I kept OG on, they'd just hobble around dizzily and turn a regular cluster into a big scattered mess. You state this as an absolute rather than what it is, your opinion.
I have OG on my /DA Brute and I run it full-time. I don't have problems maintaining aggro or fury while filling the primary tank role for teams. If you don't like it, that's fine, but it is not an absolute truth that it is a poor power for Brutes.
I run Cloak of Darkness as well, and the only problem I've had when tanking on teams is the one that someone mentioned earlier. Occasionally a nearby spawn that didn't see me will see and attack my teammates. It's not a particularly difficult problem though. It just means I have to throw a taunt or attack and nearby spawns so I get aggro before my teammates.
I'll rephrase for you. OG is a pain in the butt because it tends to bust up a Brute's efficiency due to how stunned enemies behave.
Better?
