Quote:This.I think Power Pools need some love in general, but since you asked:
Medicine-- would be nice to have a non-tech, perhaps magic-based, animation option
Teleport-- I've always thought a darker, smokier version was needed for villainous types... alternatively, I've always thought a cool alternative to tp using the same power activation is to allow burrowing: the "tp" target would always have to be on the ground; upon activation, the toon digs down into the ground and disappears; the toon pops out of the ground at the chosen location, and so on (to make this really different, make the power slower than tp, but the toon is untouchable while in transit, being underground)
Super Speed-- incorporate the crouch and lean of ninja run to make the animation more realistic, maybe add some of those cool new "motion ghosts" like we see in the DP animations to denote speed... for that matter, how about a motor cycle option?
Super Jump-- why not allow the mid-air flip of ninja run for some pizzazz?
Leadership-- again, villains shouldn't have a cute fanfare when activating these powers-- Soldiers of Arachnos seem to have alternatives that make more sense
Flight-- allow a rocket pack option so less "super" powered toons can stay true to their concept without sacrificing the enhanceable nature of the power versus taking a raptor pack, or being costume-restricted by having rocket boots just to justify their ability to fly
I love that you're asking -
I think, thematically, Ninja Run is the most appropriate.
-
You've obviously given this a lot of thought and I applaud you. I really like your ideas and a lot of these powers I would really like to have. I also don't find any of them game-breaking, seeing as how you'd have to dedicate the extra power slots to get to the tier 5.

Sweet. Nice to have a date finally.
-
Very much looking forward to all of the information coming in the next few weeks.

If you're referring to the "Common Questions" sticky, I looked through it, and while it answered how Defense affects the to-hit chance of an attacking character, it doesn't say anything about when an attack qualifies under multiple categories of defense. Or maybe I'm missing it.
-
I apologize if this has been covered ad nauseum before, but I'm not finding the thread if it has. My Bots/Traps Mastermind has 48.29% Ranged Defense and 61.13% Smashing/Lethal Defense. How does the game determine whether a, for example, Family Gunner can hit me with his rifle? Does it make two separate "checks"? Does it take the higher value? Do the values stack?
Just curious. -
Does anyone have any idea what the minimum specs might be to run Ultra mode smoothly? Anyone care to speculate?
-
Personally, I think most of the issues with the GM's would be solved if they would make them worth much, much more to defeat, and make them spawn much, much less.
Make it an actual "event", and everyone will want to be on board for it. -
If you have an active imagination and follow the story that's provided, there's no reason why you can't have a really great time for multiple years.

Hi, everyone.
"Fortune's Fool" is my first attempt at creating my own arc. By pure chance, it's been rated three times. Two people seemed to really enjoy it, and one person seemed to really hate it.
Unfortunately, the one who hated it left no feedback as to why.
I'd really like to improve it if there are things that consistently annoy people and make it less than enjoyable. It's intended for high-level heroes. Characters who don't have much in the way of damage capability may have trouble with the first mission, as the Boss packs a bit of a punch. The rest should be easily soloable by high-level characters. There's an AV at the end, but if you're solo, there is plenty of help to be found along the way.
The arc is "Fortune's Fool"
Arc I.D. = 42067
Also, I've never had a chance to test this arc on a team larger than two, as I just don't have a large group of in-game friends. The custom enemies may be a headache on larger teams.
All feedback is truly welcome. I'm under no illusion that it's a perfect piece of work. I just want it to be a fun arc for people to play. I enjoy it very much.
Thank you in advance to anyone who is willing to take the time to let me know what you think. -

Going back through his previous posts, he's complaining about the AE exploit fixes ( at least in the last two posts he is).
Either that or he's a time traveler that has found out that Going Rogue is going to have ED2: Electric Boogaloo in it.
It's really either or, but gun to my head I'd have to say it's the first one.

I rarely laugh out loud at something someone posts in the forums.
This made me LMFAO. -

On a side note, it might be a good idea to provide us with more info so we might be able to find a way to help you in the meantime. CoH_Helper and HiJack?

Be more proactive. Do what people have suggested and take steps to rectify your own problems. Don't nerdrage and expect folks to have sympathy or jump up and go fix them for you. I'm nearly certain there are things you can do to improve your situation.

You're right, I don't expect or deserve sympathy. I'm sure there are fixes to be found, I'm just tired of having to periodically look for them. Maybe I got a little spoiled by four years of XP and just having to update the drivers every so often. So yeah, it's off to look for another creative Vista fix for yours truly.
But no, no sympathy requested or deserved. Just pure, unadulterated nerdrage.

Well we can still try to help if you want to give us some more info.. CoH_Helper/HiJack.

Ah, I think I see where the misunderstanding happened. I wasn't demanding that the community fix my computer. When I said "Fix it", I was simply railing at the powers that be for doing whatever they did in the latest game patch that is now screwing with my system. Sorry if I gave the other impression.
No, I'm going to take Lemur Lad's suggestion and take a deep breath, and delve into more of the Vista fix threads, and if that doesn't work, then I shall compose a much more dignified, polite request for help from the community. Thanks for putting up with my venting, all. -

Vista not being supported just means that Vista issues will be shunted primarily to the forums. They will give a quick once-over, and if they can't fix it, they'll give it to forum-goers to poke at it. This gives them far more time for their GMs and tech doods to work on other issues, since the game isn't designed for Vista and therefore has...odd quirks.
[/ QUOTE ] It also means the OP is SoL unless they look through the existing Vista threads and/or provide us with some more info that might help us come up with a possible working solution for them.
Complaining and demanding fixes for unsupported software (which may or may not even be the problem to begin with) gets a person nowhere. lol
[/ QUOTE ]
You're right. It's gotten me absolutely nowhere. I shouldn't post when I'm that upset and that tired.
I'm tired of having to find creative ways to deal with Vista. If I ever meet Bill Gates, I'll kick him in the nads.
I was just very frustrated when I logged on last night, after having played, for the most part, without incident for the past few weeks, and found the game unplayable after the latest patch. The rubberbanding, the crashing (which usually only happens once a day, and I can deal wiith that ), not to mention it took help from the forum just to figure out why my one story arc was suddenly unplayable.
At any rate, I hope the issues are corrected soon. I'm glad to hear not everyone is having a problem. -
Thank you.
It was the NPC captured in the energy field. I reselected the option and now it works.
I very much appreciate everyone's time who responded. -
I am not one to complain like this. I believe my relatively short posting history will verify that. However, this latest patch has failed on so many levels that I am compelled to, well, gripe.
I can't play the game. Period. The rubber-banding is horrendous. The game is crashing on Vista at 10x the previous rate. Whatever you did, you did it too quickly, and with not nearly enough thought.
Fix it.
Now.
I'm pissed. I wanted to enjoy an evening playing my favorite game, and because you felt the need to rush in your last patch due to errors and oversights that you yourselves made long ago, I can't do that.....and I don't know when I'll next be able to, since I don't know how long I'll have to live with this poorly conceived, poorly written, game patch. -
I suppose what I'm describing does sound a heckuva lot easier than it would be to actually implement. In an ideal world, I'd love to be able to just click on a zone from a drop-down menu option, and then have my character go into a predetermined animation and zip off toward the "zone", with the "camera" staying in place.
For example, if it was a flying character, he/she would take off like Will Smith in "Hancock", with the POV of the "camera" staying on the ground.
But I was just thinking of some pre-existing still shots of the inside of a tunnel or train, and just pasting the character into position. I guess that would be pretty difficult, but I was hoping that perhaps there is technology in place that I'm not aware of that might make it simple. I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to that kind of thing. -
I think that it would be nice if there were a bit more creative use of the load screens, as opposed to the same old CoH/V logo, moving into a still shot of a cityscape/terrain, etc.
What I was thinking was, how about a shot of your character in one of several predetermined poses?
For example, your character is Superspeeding down the highway in Steel Canyon, on his/her way to Atlas via the tunnel. How about, as a load screen, a simple still shot of your character speeding around cars inside the tunnel?
It always struck me as a fun, quirky concept to have superheroes riding from one section of the city to another in a train. Well, why not take it a step further? If your character hops onto a train, let's have a still shot of them sitting next to some random commuters, reading a newspaper or sipping some coffee? Or leaning against the door that says "Please do not lean on the doors"?
Why not a still of your villain leaning up against the rail of the ferry?
When entering a mission, a simple shot of them stepping inside the room/cave.....or off of the train for the outdoor missions.
The shots would be dependent on what travel powers you use and where your were heading when the screen loaded.
It seems like this would be doable with all of the advances in Photoshop-like technology, and would simply add to the immersive quality of the game. Maybe I don't understand how much work it would take, I fully admit that....
....but, man, that sure would be fun. I bet, if the devs don't find this possible or even worth it given their man hours, judging by some of the amazing art work I've seen on these forums...I bet there are those that could figure out a way and enjoy doing it.
Thoughts?
Edited to celebrate my 100th post. Yay me! -
I get the "Accept" or "Cancel" buttons. Click "Accept". Nothing happens. No contact, nothing.
This is not a farm. It's a 5-mission arc I published as my first attempt at creating a good story to play.
What gives?
Mission I.D. 42067
"Fortune's Fool" -
I get the same crash, though not as frequently. About once a day. All of my stuff is updated. Weird.

Take it easy, LH.
See ya game-side. -

To sum up:
Energy Aura is already awesome.....
Reading this thread it becomes apparent that every Brute who has a problem with this set failed to take Energy Cloak..... EA is great as it is, and improving it to match SR would likely cause bigger unbalances with other powersets.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to disagree with this. I'm not a numbers guy, but I'm a very experienced player and I can tell you that my EA Brute is noticably more squishy than all of my other brutes. Maybe it is my playstyle, but I did take EC and I have tried varying my tactics. I have also experimented with various builds in addition. So far, I have yet to discover the key to consistent success. I have stopped playing him at level 35 because of my difficulties with him.
Again, I admit the problem may very well lie with yours truly, but I can only speak to what my observations have been. I, for one, am very excited about the proposed changes coming in i13. -
Really, really fantastic. Thank you.
