Traveling?

Ok, so I saw Kick-*** for the first time the other night, (great movie) and Hit Girl inspired me. So I rolled a tech based DP/dev blaster, called Gunslinger Gyrrl. Her abilites come from nano-tech. She was adult working for the C.I.A. and the nano-tech de-aged her to between 12-14 years old.

Dev is not really a compatible pairing with DP cause Dp has no snipe but it fits my concept What I have to think on is her travel power. Wanting to stay true to the inspirational material, flying & teleporting are out. That leaves Super Speed and Super Jump.

I'd take Swift from the Fitness pool for Super Speed. If I go with Super Jump, it would be Hurdle.

Any thoughts?

I think, thematically, Ninja Run is the most appropriate.

50 Claws/Regen Scrap, 50 Energy/Energy Blaster, 50 SS/Invuln Tanker, 50 Robot/Traps MasterMind, 50 Fire/Kin Controller, 50 Ninja/Ninja Stalker, 50 Elec/Shield Brute, 50 Elec/Time Controller

This with swift and of course Sprint would be the way to go.

I would actually do Hurdle with NR.

Hurdle adds ~125% jump speed and ~166% jump height.
Swift only adds 35% run speed.

With Ninja Run adding ~140% to both run and jump speed, and ~700% to jump height, the total jump speed with hurdle+NR is higher than running with swift+NR. In fact, unenhanced they will give you a higher jump speed than Super Jump.

As for the OP, I would actually flip it. Take Hurdle if you Super Speed so you stand a chance of jumping over obstacles out in the world, and because swift's run speed is so small an enhancement you probably won't notice it.

Consider Swift if you do Super Jump so you're not bunny hopping in caves and other door missions. Hurdle's not a bad idea there, though, because you can mix it with Combat Jumping while you're fighting and, again, it's base values are much higher.

The only time I default to swift was with Fly. Now that Fly maxes out with a single enhancement though, the only toons I will keep it on is thematic-run-fast-all-the time types.

@Gilia1
I play heroes on Champion.
I play villains on Virtue.

True...either way...I19 will make swift and hurdle inherents.

Assuming you have not purchased the OPTIONAL Martial Arts booster package and DO NOT have Ninja Run, I would say this:

Do you want added defense from running combat jumping from the Super Jump pool?
or
Would you like a 2 minute long boost of 70% global recharge from Hasten, out of the Super Speed pool?

I myself vote you to go Super Jump for your Hit-Girl inspired toon, just because it doesn't make you glow an ugly orange color in use.

*Possible spoiler alert if you haven't seen the movie*

If you saw Kick-***, then that means you probably saw the ending, where they are flying through the city on a jet pack! Maybe just keep a steady supply of the Jet Pack temp. power recipe? Sure, it is more expensive in terms of inf., but if you are dedicated to the concept, I would use that. Not only is it the actual method she uses, but she has multi-millions (I think) left to her from her father, so she'd be able to afford it (assuming of course you have an upper-level toon that could front some of the money in the early levels.)

And yes, I know it is TECHNICALLY Kick-*** flying the jet pack, but she would have been if the circumstances were different.

And, after all that, if you hate that idea, I would go with Super Speed, however you want to design that.

@Winter. Because I'm Winter. Period.
I am a blaster first, and an alt-oholic second.

I have a DP/Dev Blaster with the Leaping pool. But when he uses Superjump, rather than just jumping high, he uses grappling hooks and ropes to swing through the city. If you can rationalise it that way, Superjump would be my choice. Either that or give her a pair of Piston Boots and use those.

Plus, Combat Jumping adds some defence and resistance to immobilize (sometimes as fatal as a hold for a squishy), Jump Kick is an acrobatic attack in keeping with the character (even if it is an incredibly naff power) and Acrobatics prevents Knockback (again, fatal to squishies sometimes) and a bit of resistance to Holds. All in all, the Leaping pool is a good choice for a Blaster I feel.

Thanks for all the advice guys! I think I'll go with Leaping but mainly use the Jet Pack. I already have the reward from the first bank mish. So I'll go with that.
