I believe defenders really need a damage boost because IMO they should be better ranged fighters. I am concerned that with going rogue the defender will become an afterthought for the Corruptor.

Defenders will become an after thought once Going Rogue comes out. Except for a few non-proliferated sets like Empathy and Forcefields, defenders will be replaced by redeemed Corruptors.
It's not just the damage scale that will cause that. It's the crappy Defender inherent.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm pretty sure the ranged modifier is 0.65, not 0.55
The melee and ranged modifiers are definitely different. This is exactly the reason why, back when we were still using BI as a damage measure, the BI's on Defender attacks were always higher than their counterparts. The low brawl damage led to high BIs.
And yeah, Kinetics has nothing on Dark Miasma.
Dark Miasma is an especially bad example of how Corruptors will replace Defenders. The survivability of the set is pretty much as good on Corruptors as it is on Defenders. A few points of -ToHit is not very noticeable in the grand scheme of things, especially when enemy resistances make the gap smaller (a gap of 5 ToHit meets 30% resistance and becomes a gap of 3.5 ToHit) and you can floor enemies who don't have those resistances with both versions.
The Defender version is really only a bit more resistant to the effects of the purple patch than the Corruptor version. Not much, though (Darkest Night and Fearsome Stare are 18.75% on Defenders, 15% on Corruptors; not a big difference).
The big offender here is Tar Patch, which operates at Defender values for Corruptors. A /Dark Corruptor is just as much of a force multiplier as a Dark/ Defender is and does more significantly more damage to boot. -
They've made huge, sweeping changes to PvP.
Mez protection (stops you from getting mezzed) no longer exists, only mez resistance (reduces mez duration)
Base mez duration maxes out at 4 seconds
Damage values on powers have been normalized in regards to activation time
The way travel suppression works in PvP has also changed
It's also worth noting that defensive toggles (toggles that don't affect your enemies) no longer drop when you get mezzed. This applies to both PvP and PvE. -

While I respect your opinion on the matter, my interpretation of the description of the forum is not the same as yours.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then your interpretation is wrong. -

Every archtype has their own thing going for it that I think preserves its usefulness on its own.
Blasters/Corruptors/Controllers/Dominators/Defenders
Blasters are all offensive
Corruptors are offensive with some support
Controllers are mezzing with a support role
Dominators are mezzing with a more offensive role
Defenders are light on damage but great at support.
Each of those lends itself to a certain play style. Some people are all about damage. Some people are all about control. Some people are all about support. Then there are ways to blend those pretty well too.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well here's the problem. Corruptors aren't just "some support", they're close enough to Defenders in their effectiveness at support to seriously threaten to steal a Defender's group role.
I can tell you that my Dark/Rad Defender and Rad/Dark Corruptor play exactly the same. Really, the only noticeable difference is that my Corruptor deals a lot more damage. The difference in support effectiveness is as good as negligible. It's certainly not noticeable. -
Well, you've already done a buffing set, so now it's time to try out a debuffing set!
Dark Miasma
Rad Emissions
Storm Summoning
Trick Arrow
Take your pick!
For secondaries, you'll probably want to go with Sonic Attacks, though all of them are plenty viable. -

How about a Big Orange Word saying "PHASED" if you try to hit someone Intangible?
[/ QUOTE ]We already have it say "UNAFFECTED". Just in the same color as "MISS" and "DEFLECTED".
[/ QUOTE ]
What we need is a big orange word saying "PHASED" when you target something that's intangible, not just attack them. -
Yeah, that isn't supposed to happen. It always saves its progress. I downloaded the entire City of Villains beta in 5-20 second intervals since my connection to the updater would cut out after about that much time (my school's network didn't like it for some reason). It took hours of restarting the updater over and over, but I eventually got it all.
Are you sure it's restarting and not just checking its progress before resuming? -

At least in Gravity, Dimension Shift kind of fills a niche that isn't really filled without it. In Dark Miasma, it ends up being both redundant and inferior, the epitome of uselessness.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hey, an awesome set can suffer a skippable power.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is true, though my preferred solution has always been to simply remove the power from the set. The set will have 8 powers. You still get Fluffy at level 32. It will be all the better for it.
I guess in the case of Gravity, it's as if you switched the places of Fearsome Stare and Black Hole. Having Black Hole as my level 12 power pick would suck, but not nearly as much as having Fearsome Stare be at level 26. -
What's even worse is Black Hole from Dark Miasma. It fills the same role that Fearsome Stare does (a quick, AoE lockdown), but Fearsome Stare does it so much better. You'd be hard-pressed to find a situation that can't be made better by applying Fearsome Stare. You cannot say the same about Black Hole at all.

yea regardless how much they tone down rad blast for blasters...they can't tone down the effect procs have without having a global effect on all AT's
[/ QUOTE ]
No, but what they can do is increase the damage and recharge time of Neutrino Bolt. -
I wasn't going to touch my Warshade's snazzy purple (actually bright blue, pink and black), anyways.
-
My character Fate Giver is a Rad/Dark Corrupter. I've always wanted to have her Rad Blasts be a rich purple (it's the color of inevitability, don't you know). Deep purple Rad Blast set on a backdrop of Dark Miasma. It'd be awesome.
-
[ QUOTE ]
I did watch someone play a Rad/Dark, they seemed to enjoy it greatly.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is because they're awesome. I've been playing the game for 5 years, and I have only two characters at level 50: My Dark/Rad Defender and my Rad/Dark Corruptor. -
Apocalypse isn't too hard to get. It's expensive, but it's there. Shield Breaker is a different matter. It took me a month to get one of them simply because supply was so low.
-
Procs aplenty in Neutrino Bolt. You've got Apocalypse, Shield Breaker and Touch of Lady Grey for damage procs. Achilles' Heel is also useful, though you may want to leave some room for actual slotting.
Put the Apocalypse proc in Neutrino Bolt, put the rest of the set in Cosmic Burst.
All other attacks are pretty much optional.
Here's hoping they don't change the set too much. -

So, the Devs were not aware that the added feature where one could select the min/max level of a mission, coupled with the fact that the Mitos were left in the AE pool only have their attacks at higher levels, would cause a booming exploit...?
[/ QUOTE ]
Hindsight is 20/20.
Why didn't YOU find this exploit in open beta? That's what beta is for, but no, you didn't live up to expectations. You let it slip through.
They probably didn't realize that the Mitos were left in. They don't spend every waking hour staring at this and looking for exploits. They have other things that also need doing. -
The only purple drop I've ever gotten was a particularly unpopular Fortunata Psychosis that sold for 500k
I had been flipping apocalypse IO's, though, and took a month-long break from the game. I bought a bunch at around 60,000,000 and then was able to easily sell them for 120,000,000 each when I came back. Purples have been definitely going up in price, but this is probably because supply is suffering due to the AE.
Dev Choice AE missions do drop purples, but that's not what everyone's playing, is it? -
Rich purple Rad Blast set on a backdrop of Dark Miasma.
-
[ QUOTE ]
What this game really needs is a money sink.
[/ QUOTE ]
It has them, it's just that not enough people are flipping. -
All the problems presented in the cut&paste response can be solved in the same way:
Make the vehicle large version of a Nemesis Jaeger, just replace the middle bit with an open cockpit. My villain would oh-so-love riding around in one of those.
The design of a Jaeger allows it to strafe.
The design of a Jaeger allows it to easily offroad anywhere
The design of a Jaeger allows it to be bouyant
Stand up to attack, sit down afterwards
Every villain wants this
It will look awesome everywhere -

My two cents on Liquefy:
1. Make the power do yet another resistance debuff. This is auto; no accuracy check needed for this to happen.
2. Hold, include the acc check for this effect.
3. Moderate DoT damage, accuracy check for this as well.
Keep the recharge as is, but include the above. That way we can justify the long recharge time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Meh, I'd much rather have Liquefy be something that can be used every fight or nearly other fight rather simply making it more powerful. It's useful as it is, it just needs to be useful more frequently. -
It took a number of years equal to Graham's Number.

Energy melee is a mix of red and white so visually looks like pink.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, a lot of powers are like this. Warshade powers, for instance, are actually bright blue and pink with a bit of black mixed in here and there. You'd have a hard time matching colors unless they give you control over multiple effects in each power. -
[ QUOTE ]
Redefine it as "Nausea Field" or something to that effect?
[/ QUOTE ]
That would actually make a good Sonic Resonance power. -
[ QUOTE ]
Shocking. In my experience they'd ask "which do I want" or "what do these do". I've even had them take the power and simply not turn it on when we were together.

I guess it depends on how excitable the kid is xD
