Was definitely a lot of fun, especially the matches at the end where you had 2 dedicated support 1 disruption on each team. I think we had a 3-2 outcome and a 4 - 0 (Which was actually much closer than the score made it seem)
It was a blast to go into the matches not really knowing who would come out on top, and not really finding out until either the last minute or so, or in the 3-2, when the final score came up. -
I had a Grav/Kin build laying around, as I was trying to figure out whether to go Grav/Kin, Storm, TA, or FF

Lift is only really costing you two slots and you get the big HP bonus out of it. If anything you could take a recharge out of Siphon speed and one out of IR and move them around accordingly. When you factor in hasten and siphon speed even with DR you're looking at those powers recharging maybe a second or so faster.
Also I haven't played a cager in forever, but I can't remember of Endo's are still "Bugged" to increase intangibility duration. I know the enchantments are flagged to increase it, but don't know if the powers themselves, in this case dimension shift are flagged as enhanceable. (Endo's are also dirt cheap, 1 to 2 million a pop)
I'd definitely go Hiber/Tactics just because its a KB toon and its more than possible you'll have someone who is behind with handing out perception and with the lack of any heal it could save you a few greens now and again. -
I wouldn't really call most of the team ups stacked, its pretty random match ups as far as things go, and most people are just playing what they want too. I don't know how it is for some, but I've been on good teams where it was an easy win, bad teams where there was no real chance and even had matches where it was down to the last few seconds or even going into sudden death. That to me says they can't be that stacked all the time.
In the 5 v 5's last night, as a stalker in two of the three matches I ended up pretty much shut down, first by a Grav/TA and the pain that is acid arrow, and in the third by a VEAT keeping me out of hide for most of the match. There wasn't much chance to win those two matches with only one other damage dealer, but it happens, where the other team happens to have your Kryptonite. The match we did end up winning, the other team had a cold, but our therm ran thaw so the emp was able to keep up. Just the way it goes.
Most of all its KB, I don't think anyone really goes into them expecting to see an exactly even match up between the two teams. Most times you do what you can except when a bad captain picks a bad team. -
You really don't need PvP IO's for zones and what not. They help but you can get by fine on regular IO'ed builds. Just build for +Recharge +HP +Acc + Dmg and try for 2 damage procs per attack. (While still getting 60+ Acc 90+ Dmg and some recharge/end reduction)
I'll second the Speed/Leaping/Phase/Leadership suggestion but definitely get weapons/webnade for an epic. With travel suppression and a team who can keep damage on a target it removes the ability to evade all together.
This is of course for zones, if you want to hop in the arena go Stalker or Blaster for Damage. -
Put me down for A, C and D. I don't think I've really had enough experience to pull off B.
-
On power selections, you'll want Hasten/SS CJ/SJ/Acro, Maneuvers/Tactics, hurdle health stamina. This will let you get around in a PvP environment as far as travel goes, and tactics helps you with perception so you aren't constantly losing targets after 100 yards.
Don't bother with Tough/weave they don't really do much at all for you with DR. Flying, its usually just a matter of time before a handful of people look up and decide its time to perma ground you, then start farming.
For an epic set, go cold. Snow storm/frozen armor, hoarfrost, hibernate.
As for power selection, Shriek, Scream, Amplify, and Screech are all you really need from Sonic Blast, you can take shout but will have to use with caution as it pretty much makes you stalker bait.
From MM Subdual, TK Trust, Concentration, Drain Psyche and Scare are what I'd go for.
As for slotting, don't worry about ranged defense at all. For a blaster in PvP you cap out at pretty much 20% thanks to DR and any half way decent build can score a 95% chance to hit on that. Get some accolades for the build as well, they are free and just take some time.
As for how to build, shoot for 13-15% HP, mag 41 KB protection (That's mag 32 before acro) I shoot for around 50-70% recharge, 30-50% acc, 20-30% Damage and then get some Recovery and if you can manage to squeeze it in a little regen never hurts to cut down your down time in the zones. (Can usually manage something close to 3.5 - 3.6 EPS recovery and 320-350 % regen) -
Things it will effect :
Mez Duration
Slows (I think)
-Defense
+To hit
Travel Speed
Healing
+Defense (In PFF a questionable amount thanks to DR)
+/- End
Did I miss anything?
What it won't effect
+/- Resistance
+/- Regen
+/- Recovery
Knockback Mag (Pretty sure this was changed just after i13)
+/- Damage
+Range
End reduction -
I managed to get it to 2.21 EPS with 1.65 drain, HP capped with 33.5% damage but only like 18% acc. With tactics will that be enough or do I need more?
*Edit* Gave it a run in RV tonight with those numbers. Cuts it painfully close it seems but usually Conserve power, Overload or Hibernate is around to deal with the issue, and missing much less now without constantly losing targets.
Outside wishing I'd have rerolled to elec/wp for the heal and place to slot the health procs, it seems half decent now. -
Just ported my Elec/EA stalker over to freedom... yeah I should have likely rerolled it as Elec/WP but I'm lazy and it was close to 50 and has a few accolades already.
Does anyone have any idea how to make a workable IO build without PvP Io's to run it without stamina, while still having some decent recharge/damage and enough HP to keep it capped? (Missing invader)
My Current build has Fitness/Leaping/Speed/Concealment with Leviathan mastery.
Code:I was wondering if anyone had any ideas how to turn it into an effective staminaless build that wasn't constantly out of end. *Edit* I've been trying to throw one together but the best I've come up with is only like 1.93 EPS recovery, I figure between conserve power and Overload up half the time it won't be *too* bad, just looking for a few other options. -
Might not be there every night but usually seems to run from starting anywhere around 8 or 9 EST until around 12. Usually just watch AC though for someone to start listing them.
-
I'd do one thing really different is my attack slotting.
Code:2 Damage procs for your main 3 melee attacks is the way to go. Still has about the same HP/KB protection/Damage little less Rech and Acc though. I turned that 400 million you gave me into about 1.5 Billion... then blew 1.1 billion on two Gladiator Javelin ranged procs. Lolz getting the last one crafted for 500 million. Good times
Also WB! -
Clawlz is just bad.
Evisercate is the hardest hitter at like base 151.4 Damage and a 2.33 cast time.
Broad sword, fire melee, and Martial arts all have better attacks that do more damage and in some cases even activate quicker (Fire Melee for sure) Beyond that Claws has no build up which makes the damage even worse. I'm pretty sure that spamming focus and LBE won't even over come the base regen of a pain corr.
The only thing WP really is, is a pile of HP. The tanker version at least gets 3200 versus the 2400 of the scraps (Both are still bad) Regen is the way to go ATM and in a distant distant second place Fiery Aura.
Really it'd be like going into a fight with both hands tied behind your back and your shoelaces tied together. If you are sold on a scrapper, MA/Regen Fire/Regen and BS/Regen are the way to go, get phase shift and webnades, use both to make other zone meleer's rage. -
While we are at it, this is the build I have drawn up for the Mind/Rad

So as I go down through my list of 50's that I'm looking to port over to Freedom I came to these two. Rad/Psi is pretty much a pain because you are either screwed for perception or phase. Mind/Rad on the other hand can have both as well as about the same ST damage as Psi Blast (I think) outside the snipe.
Checking the real numbers in game, defender rad goes from -30% res in pve to -40% in PvP. Does controller rad do the same or is it stuck at -22.5% Res in both?
In seems between the 7 second hold, TK, Hibernate/Tactics, and levitate the mind/rad might be a better choice than the rad/psi atm, as the only thing it has going for it is the -40% res over -22% (Neither of which are unresistable any more I don't think)
Thoughts? -
Here's a quick example I threw together over lunch.
Code:As for support role, its probably one of the toughest to do well and while you aren't racking up kills, everyone knows its usually the support that keeps the *other* side from racking them up. So while your teams damage lead might get props for that, the other team's (hopefully) lack of kills is definitely a reflection of your support role.| Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1419;711;1422;HEX;| |78DAA5944B6F524114C7E7F22885428162297DBF6C69A15CDA5D1F5A933E4CD0A2B| |458356A24D7F6B6DE04EF25404DBBF303D4C4B8D0957151A3DF413F832B356AECD2| |0FE10ECF9CFF14342EBD81FF6F3873CE993367E6923F5C0B0AF1E492D0C2AB65A35| |62BAD3AD5EA41A5EE54BD7963DFDA113E21C448D358DA32EC7D7357DF32762DA36E| |39766985A2EA432D879583BD3DBD60587669CD7964D9EC14CDD90FCDAA69D7F5B34| |1A0E03865BD5831CDDD200F2F5B75DBACD5F063C3342A96BD1FE51F39FBB155B31E| |5865AB7ED4BF5EB176F4D66245E7A05CCA530166F52841854ED377DE25D4D3F08A1| |3C29C88BF6364DE32E6E65C8C8F409B5B8841F129D88CF288AB9A9C99B90E6C3032| |79E01A63816235B58886455C58C48545526F00649FC15A9F6911B78A726F7322CF1| |65064046F30A653E20F7CA128AF8AF2A2B4B602809A02A829807A93881AA383F321| |CAE54BB3A9FD2FB4D1AC9FF7D010FE29365DA42A3B10A375BCE69283278C71720EC| |1D91DF2B1A9B31DF03322A70C1FF985955FF80A0D9222926374AD33523719CBE41D| |55ED8E6638B44B679CCB02B38CF80CA39DD2C690D6137BCEA6C40BE025A3EF1878C| |6F84A1DEB4676D18D767C23530F32787BD0FA814D00AD1F5AD4E4498D2C03171871| |5AB75735B1B79BFD467E0939338AFD7EA7B4FD2A6D7F9A1D463380CE38BF48731E7| |78B094EDC43890711E71A5CC2D4D019913A412EC3EA7C8647791321328DA9EE8EA1| |9CF108100350DC0FAA6A42DD98096C6F127B9EC4759BC43D4BA26BC9A73849CA3EA| |54E7F0AD9A7912F423369D5CF346ECF21DD635D95A2A7D8398B1D67B1FF2C36FA93| |4A9955A1B3081DF0345F35FAD02336FEB1143CCDF74B686CC9B57CFEEB792F5F744| |EEDDF0C901649B46D39BA2547B7A5DC917257DAEE49B92FA524A5F1A1F937119E97| |052D485994B224E5583AF9E42BD42125282524A5534A584A444A4C4A5C4A9F94575| |21ABF016C6FFD60| |-------------------------------------------------------------------|
I run my Fire/Pain Similar to this and especially in zones I find that if the team is doing well I can switch over to offensive with the current set up and still pump out some decent damage. -
Big things I can see is first.... not enough KB protection, shoot for 41 at least.
No escape power (Phase/Hiber) Most support spec Corrs will run Phase/Soul mastery for power boosted heals.
As far as set bonuses go beyond not enough KB, shoot for 1500 - 1600 HP if possible and a good 40-50% global recharge. I think you went for too much Regen and your attacks are no where near proc'ed enough. Each attack can easily take the lady grey and shield breaker procs, if you can afford them the apoc and gladiators Jav procs are nice too. I'd go for at least 2 procs per attack. NB you could go for three. (Ideally Apoc/Jav/Lady Grey)
Also, two things if you are going for support role, first two target heals could use one to two ranges in them. Second, need to actually put some travel speed into your travel powers if you ever hope to catch up to anyone to heal them. And finally skip the Rez/Boxing/Tough/Weave, get Acro and an escape power (phase/Hiber)
*edit* Dang Dr. F beat me to it. :P -
Quote:Hah, yeah I was on vent but I'm used to TS so I need to figure out how to get my mic to work there so communication was an issue. I'd hear people calling out for a heal half way across the map with a pile of geography between me and whoever, none of it all that friendly to being stuck on the ground.I'm all ready in the process of remaking it into a Grav/TA instead, since my Earth/TA was more of a zone toon. Plus with QS nerf I don't really have much use for my primary. And Grav/** can actually slow people down to a crawl, wormhole emp to corners and so on, so Dex TA is more beastly then my.
As for the been grounded while on a emp, not much can be done about that just hope your teamate is smart enough to run towards you. If your on vent let them know, that's what the other emp did last night drive by heals lol.
It was definitely pretty beast as far as setting people up or taking people out of the fight. I know in the AP map I spent half the time TP'ed into the pools then glue arrowed, in Outbreak I think 3 times I got TP'ed into a dumpster and glue arrowed having to sit there in phase shift waiting to get out. So awful :P But can't argue it wasn't really effective.
*Edit* I'm a n00b for not remembering the arena TP power for getting out of the dumpster/pools. -
So I have a bit of a question when dealing with a TA, as an emp, what exactly are you supposed to do in an Arena match up. After a few KB's yesterday where I found out playing the zones for the last few months made me more than a little rusty, there was always a TA involved that did a great job of keeping me grounded most of the match, or worse yet a few time times stuck in a dumpster. (Damn Grav/TA's!)
Is there anything you can really do to get heals/buffs to your teammates when you are pretty much grounded the entire match? (So you can at least be semi usefull) -
I run two sets of Oblits for the charge powers, they pretty much get the job done there. I have Armageddon slotted in Thunderstrike, as it is up more often than the nukes and hits more foes than jacobs ladder. If you can spare the slots, 5 Armageddons (Including the proc) + Another of the many PbAoE Procs really does wonders for the power when it comes to both ST and AoE Damage.
I also have Hecatomb in CI, You'd get more mileage out of the proc in charged brawl but I like the purple stats with 90% recharge in the power. -
Spines/Nin would be the best.
Arch/Dev would be your best blueside I think.
Emp/Elec and Ice/Storm could also work especially if you plan to team a lot. -
Reading this entire thread again with this on repeat while being mildly intoxicated after the new years celebration was fun. I'm pretty confident this will be the greatest year ever!

A bit of an idea outside the box would be PvP IO Farming. You don't need any real "Build" to do it, just 2 characters within 3 levels of each other. The average drop will yield you 30 - 100 million with more than a few netting you 200-500 million with a handful yielding you 1 billion plus per sale. Its tedious but you don't need any specific build, no influence, no IO's, no risk involved just two separate characters logged in at the same time.

To Echo what others have said, for scrappers Regen >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Everything else. The gap is insanely wide at the moment as far as performance goes. For Primaries Fire/MA/BS would be at the top with Spines and Elec being Decent.
For Blasters /Energy Manipulation is king. Psi, Fire, Archery, Sonic, Rad are all Viable options. In second place for secondaries /Devices gets it thanks to webnade. A more distant third place being /Mental
With /Elec I can't see any real reason to pick it. Havoc Punch hits about as hard as Fire Blast, only you need to be in Melee. Thunderstrike is gutted for damage because its treated as an AoE. -
I'd say its pretty close between the two. The auto stun on EC is pretty nice as well as the increased crit chance on the heaviest hitting power.
Fire on the other hand, hits like a truck and the DoT's are nice for keeping stalkers out of hide a few seconds longer. Between damage procs (Its easy to slot each attack for 2) and crits the damage can be really brutal.
I think one of the funniest kills recently I've seen was in RV was myself and another scrapper running up to a recently webnaded stalker. Both with BU/GFS both landing the crit for as close to an instant death as you can get.
