New Scrapper for PvP

Evening folks, it's been awhile since I've played and many things have changed(been said alot from what I can see) I am just wondering about a viable but challenging scrapper build to play. Atm I'm trying to decide between Fire/WP, MA/WP and Kat/Elec or Fire/Elec. I hear both sets aren't very good for scrappers because of the resistance cap(unlike the brute counter parts) but I love playing scrappers and I would like something that's a bit more effective than my army of /SR punching bags. I've got maybe 200 million to my name which I know is nothing but I've got friends and what they can't help with I'm sure we can run some TF and farm for. Thanx in advance...back to research!

Make a Psy/EM blaster. Why gimp yourself again? Scrappers can do okay in the current PvP environment, but if you're starting from scratch, make a blaster.

You're better off with the /Elec imo.

Defense isn't all that in PvP. RttC will get detoggled often as well.

/Elec at least gives you resist, and a self heal to click.

I'd also go with Fire/Elec, but Katana/Elec can go just as well (make a concept then go with the one that works the best for you).

That said, I still PvP with my DB/WP. Not the best. But it's my main, and sooo...what I prefere to run most of the games content with. Including PvP.

<.< Now if I could just get the Devs to give Scrappers the choice between Toggle RTTC or click Reconstruction. >.>

I was actually looking into a blaster as well. Anything else viable besides Psy/Em? I've got a fire/elec I was going to finish working on and then make another.

@Brandx, Thanx I've got a concept that works well with both fire and Katana, so I was goign to make both. How much of an investment is involved /Elec.

P.S. So many freaking Widows!!! Curse you mindlink

Hmmm...if I was building for PvP, I'd build differently than I would PvE (I PvP with my DB/WP who's built for PvE...but I PvP for the fun of it, not worried about being the best)...

That said, I'd want to go for purples (for the +RCH) and the normal sets that give +HP, +ACC, and +RCH.

So, I'd be loading up on Crushing Impacts (which are relatively cheap) for the attacks.

Let me say however, I am by no means a PvP expert...but that's what I would build for. +HP for survival, +RCH to get those attacks (click heal) back quicker, and +ACC to over come defense (and I'd still be grabbing Focused ACC and/or Tactics for TOHIT and +Perception).

Your Fire/Elec would be workable. Not top tier but workable. Energy manipulation is good because boost range is stupidly good in PvP. Fire/Em and Sonic/Em would be my other blaster recommendations.

Katana would be an awful choice for PvP. If you have to go with a sword concept, go Broadsword. The difference in damage in PvP between Katana and Broadsword is significant and noticeable. Also, PvP is not about concept builds. Pick what works and leave concept in your PvE builds. Go regen for your secondary. Electric is subpar and since you're intent on making a scrapper, you already have one notch against you from the start. Electric armor is just piling up subpar with subpar. Go regen.

Fire/Regen, MA/Regen, BS/Regen. Debatable whether Fire or MA is better for zone PvP but IMO Fire is the winner. If you've got a Fire/Elec Blaster, those can be workable as well but you're definitely going to want to make a second build for PvP. As usual, build for +HP (as much as you can, really), +recharge (DR starts to hit it in the 30-50% range), and some +damage. +Acc is nice as well but not quite so necessary if you're running Tactics or Focused Accuracy (you should be on just about any PvP character).

Fire, Archery, Psi, and Rad are all good for PvP and I'd just take Energy as a secondary. Boost Range is one of the best buffs for PvP for a blaster.

Fire, Ma, Spines, and Electric are good for PvP for scrappers. Regeneration is probably the best

While I PvP with my PvE concept build. This is true. Though personally, if I didn't use my concept build, I wouldn't have any fun at it. :P

Now, you could go with dual builds, and slot them differently. Which after I slot up my PvE build, I'll possibly IO up my second build with the same power picks, but choose different IO sets.

To Echo what others have said, for scrappers Regen >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Everything else. The gap is insanely wide at the moment as far as performance goes. For Primaries Fire/MA/BS would be at the top with Spines and Elec being Decent.

For Blasters /Energy Manipulation is king. Psi, Fire, Archery, Sonic, Rad are all Viable options. In second place for secondaries /Devices gets it thanks to webnade. A more distant third place being /Mental

With /Elec I can't see any real reason to pick it. Havoc Punch hits about as hard as Fire Blast, only you need to be in Melee. Thunderstrike is gutted for damage because its treated as an AoE.

im glad someone mentioned /devices being up there. nothing is more annoying that a guy with sprint/hurdle/CJ spamming web nades with no supression.

Well,i had the pvp scrapper issue as well recently, and iv settled with a Broad Sword/Willpower Scrapper.

I went ahead and bought the Ninja pack for the run, which by the way,is totally managable, high enough jumping, and way easier to control the super speed, but still capable of out flanking other players in pvp in movement.(Turning on a dime is more helpful then youd think.)

It doesnt hurt that hurdle and switness amp its ability considerably!(Tested and greatfully found to be awsome!)

The bottom line is,that i plan on using the slowness of the swings from broad sword to do short hit and runs on my opponent...which will cut down on the pvp degridation of long standing combat considerably...and because of how hard ill hit, hitting and running might be a huge advantage.

Just because /Regen is the best, doesn't mean you shouldn't try something different.

Now, seeing as how the OP wanted to try /WP or /ELA, I'd say /ELA is the better choice.

A heal and resists.

Now going /ELA, I'd skip Lightning Field, as it'll just get detoggled.

This is why /WP is one of the worst imo. RTTC gets detoggled alot in my experience.

I'm curious to know what kind of accuracy should one be packing in a build. I too had began to wonder off on the pvp side of things. With the annoyance that those widows and stalkers bring, I built my kat/regen with as much +acc as I can cram in a build. But if you're saying that tactics or FA is enough, that could save me some power picks and slots to play around with.

I know lol Katana, but either that or claws...

Shoot for 30, after that, between TD or FA, you should be alright.
Defense is that bad right now.

So I guess 86% on top of 24.9% tohit is a bit much?
But it is rather nice not to miss too much...

Gonna have to experiment more...

I currently have +18% ACC from set bonuses (in the end I'll have +57% when I get all the purples and the last two LotG IOs), 55-60% ACC in my attacks, and FA, andI hit pretty regularly with my DB/WP on Night Widows.

In fact, I take NWs our pretty readily.

I second this about 30ish percent plus tactics or FA or some other to-hit power. Throw in the kismet to-hit unique for good measures.

Post up your build Iggy. Also bring yellows and blues, people have it out for regeneration so much they build toons specifically to kill you haha. Cold, Thermal, and Electricity are not your friends.

One thing I've learned very quickly is that there is no honor in standing there and getting wailed on. If your health is going down and you have phase/taunt/some hold immob, use it so you can regen some health back.

Unless the other person specifies that you cannot do/us X its fair game.

I don't mind getting plastered... either be 1on1 2on1 or 20on1, figured someone should get lucky and get one of those PvP IO's... I aint greedy...

Well...as long as both agree that you cannot do/use X...then it's fair game.

Of course, if I have phase shift in my build, and they say no using it, i'm more likely to laugh and PvP sopmewhere else. :P No inspirations, I'm willing to go ahead with. But not the powers I picked...pffft. :P

If you play your regen right, you shouldn't get plastered, maybe by 3+ enemies, but definitely not 1v1
