Awesome to get the extras too.

Chalk up another Gunslinger Pack sale now. I really wanted the Wild West Stripper set but didn't buy the pack out of support for the folks that pointed out the unfairness of it as it was. Now I can buy it with a happy heart. Nice one

I can make you an In-ca-ar-ar-nate!
I wondered just how long it would take a lvl 50 fresh from Ramiels arc to get to fully T4d in every incarnate slot, so as my tanker Casey Crockett had just hit 50, I did nothing but trials with him until he was there. The results were interesting.
Casey Crockett. Lvl 50 Shield Defense/War Mace/Energy Mastery Tanker.
Difficulty Settings: -1 (x1)
Server: Freedom.
First I took him through Ramiels arc, and took stock.
Alpha slot unlocked. Judgement and Interface at 0%. No incarnate salvage, no threads, 1 incarnate shard.
Trial gathering zone: Pocket D.
On Sun 05 February, I went to pocket D and immediately broadcast tanker lf anything
3 minutes later my first trial started, and Casey was off! For every trial, I recorded which trial it was, how long it took, and the rewards gained.
Here are the results:
BAF
23 minutes
Rewards: 1 rare, 1 Uncommon, 4 Threads, 1 Astral, 1 Emp
sLAM
31 minutes till FAIL (too long for Marauder, too many adds).
Rewards: 2 Threads, 2 Astrals
sLAM again
14 minutes
Rewards: 1 Very rare, 5 threads, 5 Astrals, 1 Emp
BAF
17 minutes
Rewards: 1 Common, 3 threads, 6 Astrals,
Keyes
26 minutes
Rewards: 1 Common, 1 Uncommon, 6 Threads, 4 Astrals, 2 Emps
At this point I checked my slot progress.: Judgement 67%, Interface 56%
TPN
32 minutes
Rewards: 1 Rare, 1 Uncommon, 65 threads, 7 Astrals, 2 Emps.
Judgement 67%, Interface unlocked, Destiny 13%
I also didnt bother crafting anything at all, I did those trials with nothing in my Alpha slot. Maybe If I had crafted something along the way my participation matrix would have been better and I might have got more goodies, I dont know enough about it to say.
So 112 minutes of trialing, plus maybe 20 minutes of downtime gives:
2 Commons, 3 Uncommons, 2 rares, 1 Very Rare, 85 threads, 25 Astrals, Empyreans in 2 hours 12 minutes.
With all that, I was able to craft a Tier 3 Alpha (Cardiac Partial Core Revamp) and a Tier 2 (Cardiac Radial Boost) to get me going up the second branch for the T4 Alpha. On reflection i maybe should have gone for the T2 Interface Reactive. In any case, in just a little over 2 hours you could get a T3 Alpha easily with the trial route.
BAF
19 mins
Rewards: 1 rare, 7 astrals, 13 threads
Keyes
23 mins
Rewards: 1 Very rare, 6 Astrals, 3 threads.
With that, I crafted my T4 Alpha.
BAF
17 mins
Rewards: 1 rare, 3 astrals, 1 emp, 4 threads
sLAM
23 mins
Rewards: 1 common, 2 astrals, 1 emp
Checked my slot progress here:
Judgement unlocked, Interface unlocked, Lore 28%, Destiny 36%
BAF
25 mins
Rewards: 1 uncommon, 6 astrals, 4 threads
BAF
16 minutes till FAIL
Failed at the escapee phase, bizarrely lol (full league too!)
BAF again
24 minutes
Rewards for both: 1 uncommon, 6 astrals, 14 threads.
with that, I could craft Casey's T3 Judgement.
BAF
27mins
Rewards 1 common, 16 threads, 5 astrals
BAF
40mins FAIL (timing on double takedown was out twice, league coudln't be bothered a third time)
Rewards: 3 threads, 3 astrals
sLAM
14mins
Rewards: 1 uncommon, 8 threads, 3 astrals
Lore unlocked.
BAF
21 minutes
Rewards: 1 common, 9 threads, 6 astrals
TPN
32 mins
Rewards: 1 Very rare, 61 threads, 6 astrals, 2 emps.
Judgement T4 crafted, Interface T2 crafted, Destiny at 97%
BAF
18mins
Rewards: 1 common, 6 astrals, 1 emp, 8 threads
Destiny unlocked with a few threads.
BAF
20 mins
Rewards: 1 uncommon, 7 astrals, 4 threads
BAF
21 mins
Rewards: 1 common, 6 astrals, 5 threads
sLAM
15 mins
Rewards: 1 common 3 threads, 1 astral, 1 emp
BAF
17 mins
Rewards: 1 uncommon, 6 astrals, 5 threads
sLAM
17 mins
Rewards: 1 uncommon, 2 astrals, 1 thread
BAF
14 minutes
Rewards: 1 uncommon, 6 astrals, 4 threads
sLAM
16mins
Rewards: 1 rare, 2 astrals, 1 thread
Interface T3 crafted (both trees), 2 commons, 2 uncommons, 1 very rare stockpiled.
Total trial time so far: 9 hours 22 mins
Casey now had:
Alpha T4 - Cardiac Core Paragon
Judgement T4 - Pyronic Core Final Judgement
Interface T3 - Cognitive partial Core Conversion and Cognitive Partial Radial Conversion (ready for merging to the T4 when I got a Living Relic)
Keyes
20mins
Rewards 3 astrals, 2 emps, 2 threads
MoM
26 minutes till FAIL in the Penny stage. Once you hit that critical League-wipe stage and run out of inspirs, it's impossible. There should at least be a 'regroup in staging area' option. Terrible design, that stage, IMO.
Rewards: 5 threads.
So now Casey was T4 Alpha, T4 Judgement, T3 Interface, T1 lore and T2 Destiny, after 10hrs 28 mins of trials spread out over 4 consecutive days.
BAF
15mins
Rewards: 1 common, 6 astrals, 1 emp, 5 threads
BAF
19mins
Rewards: 1 common, 5 astrals, 5 threads
BAF
28 mins
Rewards: 1 uncommon, 5 astrals, 1 emp, 5 threads
BAF
16 mins
Rewards: 1 uncommon, 7 astrals, 6 threads
BAF
16 mins
Rewards: 1 common, 7 astrals, 3 threads
Keyes
26 mins
Rewards: 1 uncommon, 4 astrals, 2 emps, 5 threads
TPN
34 mins until the entire league mapserver DCd at the final Maelstrom fight.
Rather annoying, that.
TPN FAIL
Rewards: 3 astrals, 65 threads
I crafted T3 Lore and T2 Destiny Rebirth.
After 13 hrs 02 minutes of trials over 5 consecutive days, Casey had:
+2 Level Shift
T4 Cardiac Alpha
T4 Pyronic Judgement
T3 Cognitive Interface
T3 Polar Lights Lore
T2 Clarion AND T2 Rebirth Destiny
2 Commons, 1 Uncommon, 1 Very Rare, 5 Threads.
sLAM
21mins
Rewards: 1 uncommon, 3 astrals, 1 emp, 4 threads
Keyes
27 mins
Rewards: 1 rare, 4 astrals, 2 emps, 4 threads
TPN
44 mins
Rewards: 1 rare, 6 astrals, 2 emps, 71 threads
BAF
17 mins
Rewards: 1 common, 6 astrals, 1 emp, 6 threads
That gave me what i needed to craft a T3 in Destiny, giving Casey his third level shift.
BAF
23mins
Rewards: 1 VR, 6 astrals, 3 threads
sLAM
40mins till FAIL (too many adds)
Rewards: 1 astral, 6 threads
And that got me my third T4, in Interface.
sLAM
11mins
Rewards: 1 common, 3 astrals, 3 threads
sLAM
16mins
Rewards: 1 rare, 3 astrals, 0 threads
BAF
17 mins
Rewards: 1 common, 7 astrals, 4 threads
BAF
14 mins
Rewards: 1 rare, 6 astrals, 6 threads
BAF
16 mins
Rewards: 1 common, 6 astrals, 1 emp, 6 threads
UG (lol the first I'd been on since this began, and only the fourth I saw advertised in Pocket D Freedom during the time I was doing this).
55 mins till FAIL (We got to the Licken-infested Warwalker, and there was some confusion. The leader was telling us to use glowing litchens on the AV, but this didnt work. The leader bailed on us then, and someone else took over, but too many people bailed and that was that.
Rewards: 5 astrals, 10 threads.
I sidegraded my Forbidden Techniques and Casey had his fourth T4!
MoM
34 mins
Rewards: 1 VR 7 astrals, 2 emps, 5 threads
My first successful MoM (kudos to Fire Ainjel, awesome leading and importantly recruiting skillz), and my last T4 crafted.
That was the day before yesterday, Sunday Feb 12. It only took me a week to get a fully T4d incarnate, since I started on Feb 05.
So after 18 hrs 36 minutes of trials over 7 consecutive days, Casey has:
+3 Level Shift
T4 Cardiac Alpha
T4 Pyronic Judgement
T4 Cognitive Interface
T4 Polar Lights Lore
T4 Rebirth Destiny and T2 Clarion
2 uncommons, 33 threads left over.
A breakdown of the 48 trials:
BAFs: 23 +2 Fails
sLAMs: 10 +1 Fail
Keyes: 5
TPNs: 3 +1 Fail
MoMs: 1 + 1 Fail
UGs: 1 Fail
In Just Seven Days which reminded me of a song:
In Just Seven Days
A Tanker, with just Alpha unlocked
Will get egg on his face
When kicked to the Hosp
But soon in the BAF
With a determined taunt
Hell learn about chokes
As he works for his dro-o-ops
And if he listens..
And then a sLAM and a Keyes
And repeat, as he sees
Hell get threads, iXP
Hell be a strong toon
Oh honey!
Chorus
But the wrong toon
Hes un-shifted for MoM
And Marked by Maelstrom
Cant do UG without crying
Repeatedly dying
Such an effort
If he only knew of my plan
In just seven days
I can make you IN-CA-AA-AR-NATE!
Hell craft cantrips and gluons
Learn to macro for cut-scene bombs
Thinks rewards prove trials
Must be hard work
Such epic protesting
Those trials left me bored
When in just seven days
Oh, baby
I can make you T-FO-O-O-OURED!
Reprise
But a Lore Pet or a Rebirth
A hot Judgement on some warworks
Makes me Ooh shake
Makes me wanna take root in
Freedom Pocket D
Chorus
In just seven days
Oh baby
I can make you PLUS THREE-EE-EE-EE!
I dont want no dissension
Just take me to that Praetorian dimension
For all the whistles and bells
Chorus
In just seven days
I can make you OWN THE WE-E-E-ELL!!!
Dig it if you can
Chorus
In just seven days
I can make you THE MAN!

Quote:This is my approach too. I love writing bios, but whenever I try a 'serious' one, they always turn out to be a bit ho-hum IMO.I write bios simply to amuse people. And by people, I pretty much mean me.
What entertains someone else is highly subjective. Other than amuse myself, my aim is to inject a sense of the characters personality. I write them all different ways - in first person, in third person, as letters, one as the summation of a psychiatric report, another is from PPD Hero Files report. I have some that are 1 or 2 sentences. Some struggle to fit in the allotted space. I don't think ANY of that matters. What matters is, do YOU enjoy the dickens out of your bio?
I think if people wrote in this fashion more often, we'd all enjoy reading them more, too.
I like the funny ones a lot though.

Quote:I don't think it's awful, it's just different from the other trials.
Reasonable ways to rez:
Use a wakie and a break free.
Be rezzed by another player.
Use a rez from one of your powersets.
Use a vet rez.
Take desdemonas rez.
Don't die in the first place.
I see plenty of options/alternatives.
No. The high failure rate (which isn't as high as you make it out to be) isn't caused by the rez system, it's caused by why people are dieing in the first place or not following directions. If people are dieing SO MUCH that the number of rezzes causes the trial to fail, you would have probably failed anyways. I've only seen a MoM fail ONCE because of people overusing desdemona's rezzes (which can also be attributed to people not following directions). Malaise was at ~5% when the timer hit 0, if people had used less rezzes we would have had plenty of time.
Most likely you will fail because:
-People are dieing too much. People dieing means less dps, less buffs/debuffs, and wasted time recovering. People dieing too much is typically attributed from people not paying attention to the pink circles. Rebirth makes the Pink Circles significantly less lethal, checking to make sure your league has a couple of rebirths before the trial starts helps alot.
-Voids are not being pulled and killed properly.
-Aurora doesn't get healed. This can be completely avoided by making a quick check before the trial starts for a couple people that have rebirth.
-GM's aren't pulled killed properly next to Tilman and/or there is insufficient mezzing. This can be averted before the trial begins by making sure there is a couple of people that can control and that people with knockback are informed not to use such powers on the GMs.
-Insufficient mez protection on the last 2 stages. 2 Clarions is all this trial needs. It's a far cry from the 4-7 clarions required for UGT. Making sure there is at least 2 clarions before the trial starts makes this a non issue.
-Insufficient level shifts, meaning less dps, more death, and less incarnate powers. Requiring at least +1 is an easy work around. If you feel there isn't enough level shifts to complete MoM then run a different trial.
-Poor Leadership.
All of the above can be worked around to make sure you won't run into those issues. The rez system in MoM can make the above more pressuring, but it is not the direct cause of the [supposedly] high fail rate on MoM. At best the rez system in MoM is an easy scapegoat for why you're really failing.
Cheers. That horrendous, exact, shopping list of 'must-haves' has convinced me that the MoM is an awful thing. Wether or not it's broken or not is irrelevAnt to me.

No they don't. This evening I and 15 other people spent 36 minutes fighting through the TPN without any problem only to be all DCd at the final TP to Maelstrom fight.
I couldn't log back in on the toon in question at all. I'm waiting for Support to sort it out.
I don't call that working fine.
Eco -
Oh, the swearing that echoed around my flat just now when this happend. 36 minutes of trialing for nothing. I'm glad to ehar it's only about 5 mins until i can log back in on Casey, but this blows chunks of satan's bottom squeexings IMO.

I've been running trials the last few days to gather comparison data for the non-triial incarnate progression rates in beta, and my method is to broadcast 'tanker lf any trial' in Pocket D on Freedom. Lemme check my lists:
14 BAFs
6 sLAMs
3 Keyes
2 TPNs
Eco -
Congratulations! I only got my third 50 in 7 years a week or two ago (SD/WM tanker).
Here's to many more 50s to come!

Quote:The DD trial is impossible for a low-level league, but at +3 its at least just a basic steamroll with minimal 'awesome' mechanical gimmicks. And this is where most of our ire stems from Eco and why some of us were vehemently against having the DD trial where it was 'suggested' on beta at the level it is.

Thanks to all for the advice on how to complete this phase. Pulling penny rather than the voids is something we didn't try; if the voids have a set, consistent, predictable path then perhaps leaving them alone and just zapping them when they are next to penny is a good idea.
Are there any strategies for returning from a league-wipe in this room that I don't know about?
Eco -
Just failed the MoM again, in Peny's room.
We got a void near, killed it, got penny down to about 70% and then the voids just seemed to stop coming near. I don't think we had any tanks, but we had some scrappers and brutes who were trying to pull the voids near her.
After a while, we league-wiped and then that was it really. No way to come back from that. I used a trayful of rezzes and break frees to repeatedly die and rez my way to the entry room, as i foolishly thought that was a safe place i could TP my leaguemates to, but wtf it's full of insta death too?
What an awful experience. Why the devs think this is fun is beyond me.
Please let us just buy these trial badges in the Paragon Store, so i don't have to suffer these 'epic' events any more.
Eco -
I'm voting for all of these before i read the thread. Voting for my definite preference and then seeing how my likes gel with the rest of the voters. 2 out of 3 so far
I like all of these suits tbh, but A pipped it because of the rings and the groovy chest piece.

Gotta be B for me

If I follow the instructions in the announcement sticky up at the top of this forum on how to access the test server, will i get into the VIP beta?
Why there isn't a sticky in the actual VIP BETA forums on how to get it up, i have no idea.

1. Airhead, because it's mental and I keep looking at it lol.
2. Henri, because it's funny and I also like the motion blur
3. Syrusb, because it's v cool.

Quote:Luckily, I quite like the sfx of /sonic. I can see how it drives other people crazy, though. Now if only I could tolerate the sound effects of Sonic. It's the one blaster set (I'm a blaster fanatic) that I can't get past the teens before the power sound effects drive me up the wall.
I'm looking forward to taking him up against The Zealous One lol. My kin/rad defender needed a trayful of lucks and reds. I wonder how my Emp/Sonic will fare.
I soloed the Sister Psyche TF with him and a Shivan a few years ago. That felt quite cool.
Ooh, i've just remembered i've got a TA/Arch defender too...Mmm, must dust her off, I recall her being great fun.

They need to make separate sig arcs for Heroes and Villains. Not connected. A villainous arc without the need to be connected to a heroic atrc( which is obviously going to end with Good winning out) could end with a villain on top after neing an evil swine.
Eco -
Nope, my main, MrCaptainMan, en/en/fire Blaster, is fine the way he is
Although I only really refer to him as my main since he's my badge-toon as well as my first rolled character.

I organised my toons in the chatracter select screen into level order the other day, something I've not really done before. I have 3 50s, a 41, a 40, a 37, then a 35 (and then 30-odd toons of 30 or under). The 35 is Soundman, my Emp/Sonic defender, and I haven't played with him for a few years. I've been running tips on my 41 and 40 to get them a morality mission so i can do the sig arcs with them for hero merits, and whilst waiting for the cooldown to wear off, I broke out the emp and started doing tips with him too.
I forgot how awesome he is! He's like a mini-Blaster! Woohoo!
So I had another one of my semi-regular little computer chair dances in celebration of suddenly realising all over again that here's another powerset i haven't reached the end of exploring, and my MA/SR Scrapper is still only lvl 40 too, and he's great, and what about my fire/rad troller, then after that I've got Street justice and Titan Weapons still completely unplayed, and they're giving me Staff fighting too soon, and, and...
I'm NEVER going to get bored!
Eco -
Quote:I on the other hand love our TP. With a simple keybind and mouselook it's awesome.Oh please no. If they're gonna do it don't make it like or current teleport. I hate saying this but that other hero game has a much better teleport that would work better as a swarm of bats.
There the character basically goes out of phase for a short period of time and you can move in any direction. That with a swarm of bats aura would be perfect. The character goes out of phase, the swarm of bats appears in it's place and moves to where ever the player wants before reappearing.
If they added an alternative teleport power like the one you describe, I'd have no problem with that, although it sounds more like Phase Shift than teleport to me. Teleport is supposed to be sort of instantaneous isn't it? it would have to have a phenomenal speed whilst phased to satisfy my idea of how fast teleport should be.
If they are indeed planning tunneling, awesome
Eco -
Someone on Freedom Help said yesterday that the first Epic Travel Pool eould be 'Bikes' Tier 1: Unicycle. T2: Mountain Bike T3: Motorbike T4: 8-Man Tandem.
Ok, it was me who said it.

Wow, this thread!
I've played through the new DA content numerous times on Beta, and IMO it's the best content that's come out in a long time. The story arcs are frankly awesome, epic, really cool, just all round great. It's all soloable (although quite challenging in a few places) and although the reward progress is still a little bit too slow IMO, te whole Zone gets a huge thumbs up from me.
Eco
Edit: well, it's all soloable apart from the very last mission that the last contact gives you, but that will hopefully be rectified by the time it goes live. -
They should sell the password to the MC in the PM for 80 PPs per character.
