If you don't like the event, don't go.
If you don't like one of the hosts, don't post in their thread.
Seems like I gave this advice before about a previous super group on Champion, maybe it's time to just ignore those you don't like instead of starting all this ruckus. Just a thought. -
I'm desperate to roll a fire/storm controller (even with an excessive number of fire control characters) but am trying to save it for Going Rogue. I can't wait though.
If you are truly burnt out on fire, I'd go earth. But the fire/storm synergies are strong. -
Please just ask that it be escalated again, this should resolve the issue.
Thanks, -
I'll go ahead and answer this question:
No.
Korea has been very kind to us, and I am very happy with their level of support. They support Aion too, as well they should.
We're not in direct competition, but unfortunately because of the differences in how the games are designed there is not much direct portability between the games in terms of features.
We'll continue to try and improve features in this game, and add more that works with our engine and thats about all that can be said. -
There are only 2 mobs in the game I actively hate. Some are more annoying than others, but the ones that really get me give me the screaming heebie jeebies.
In the mid 20's red side, slag beasts are awful if you are teamed. Solo I'll fight them no problem, but teamed they are the PUG killer. Awful awful awful.
And on my Ill/Rad omg do I hate Master Illusionists. Stupid flash, now I know how the mobs feel. -
Please try to remember the 2 click rule, and that anything directly linked to must conform to the Message Forum Rules and Guidelines.
I like art, whether it be of fully clothed people or those in various states of undress. I dislike having to moderate art discussions. -
Please try harder not to take the bait.

Who here remembers threads to watch in Pwnz?

TheOcho is Neutral Good.
Mod08 is definitely Lawful Evil -
Well since this situation seems to be resolved in that everyone agrees on basically what happened, I'll go ahead and lock this thread since nothing but drama can result.

Thematically Necromancy is one of my favorite power sets in game. But only in game.

This particular fix was to temporarily deal with a number of issues that the enhanced difficulty options in I16 generated. No one issue was the cause of this, and this fix is temporary.
Getting the difficulty sliders to work properly with Task Forces and Strike Forces is definitely something we are working on. This is something that is important to us, but any fix to the TF/SF Difficulty Slider is risky in that it is code which effects the whole game. We have to be very careful when working with this code because any changes can have significant and unforeseen ramifications. It takes a lot of time, especially testing time, and if we're going to take this amount of time we want to deliver a fix to you guys that isn't just a work around hack, but that delivers a fully working product.
We know this is frustrating, and this frustration has been well communicated to the Dev team. We'll communicate with you more on this issue as things progress.
Thanks, -
Portions of this thread dealing with political controversy have been removed.
Let me address this however very very briefly. When this event was still in the planning stages and the Wentworths chose Operation Gratitude I did raise an eyebrow since there is potential controversy, but the Wentworths chose this charity and it is their event so I did not raise any objections. Ultimately everyone must act according to their own conscience, whether that means donating to another charity, donating to Operation Gratitude, or not donating at all either through disinterest, financial difficulty, or because the choice of charities offends.
Any political discussion is still prohibited by the Message Forum Rules and Guidelines and as such will be removed. If your feelings about this event are influenced by politics, I would recommend not discussing this on the forums. -
I'll give you a handy new version of the "If you have to ask" rule. If you have to ask, ask someone who knows. Mail the CS department yourself through the link in my signature or petition yourself in game. That will get you a definitive answer very quickly and with much less trouble.
These types of questions tend to bring out some rather contentious responses, hence threads like this are prone to moderation. I will say that I feel your character steps over the line, but you seem to agree so I'll leave it at that.
I'll leave this thread open for now, but please keep the discussion civil.
On an unrelated note, the discussion in this thread sparked an interesting (to me anyways) question. Is connection to an in game character fundamentally different to connection to an in game organization? If you character claims to be a former Crey employee (a common claim in character backgrounds) or a visitor from accident of Portal Corp you are claiming part of your interpretation of Canon as your character's back-story. Where do we draw the line? Does every character have to be a completely independent creation to be considered valid?
I don't do much RP in this game, just not the way I play. I've done RP before in pen and paper, live action, and MMO's but just never felt the burning need to do it in CoH. I've made characters that were relatively setting independent, and also made those that were heavily intertwined with whatever setting they were in. I've always felt that using the shared assumptions of the setting when done well gave more opportunities for role-play because there were more potential hooks available upon initial contact.
That being said, it can also be the lazy way out. I've done it the lazy way before, and it always led to poor role-playing on my part. My point I guess is that you have to judge the quality of the creation independent of these hard and fast rules. Rules are for CS*, not for role-play. When interacting with characters that are truly terrible m* sues or otherwise somehow offend my sensibilities, I tend to just play it off as if I suspect they are delusional in a group setting, or politely say my goodbyes one on one.
Just my 2 cents.
* Don't break rules that CS enforces mmkay. It's bad and will get you in trouble. -
Just to clarify;
When I say plans, I mean something very specific. A plan is an idea someone had that got taken seriously enough that something was written up about it. There are tons of plans we have, not all of them are scheduled to go in to the game at any given point, and those that are scheduled may get removed/moved/modified.
Plans are great things, implementing good plans in a manner that is enjoyable for you guys is a difficult thing (but worth pursuing). We're working on things, but please don't assume that since we have plans immediate changes are on the way. -
Just to let you folks know, we are taking a look at the rewards being given out on live to see if they match what should be given out.
Stealth nerfs in general are a pretty bad idea, and we do our best to avoid them. Players notice, and it degrades trust between players and developers. If there is an issue, we'll do our best to root it out and determine the cause. -
Sarah Palin wrote a book of the same name as the expansion coming out. It's out now.

If anyone does accidentally purchase the same booster pack twice, I encourage you to file a support ticket through the link in my signature. Billing will work with you on this issue.

To crush your enemies on the field of battle, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women...
Oh wait, what question are we answering again? -
Lol, that would be an nice way to earn money. Actually I've tried that, paying for door sits to see how much it costs compared to the return. Given a number of people willing to sell runs it can be profitable to door sit, but it's not a common strategy of mine.
No it's about 50/50 marketing and drops on my brute. Had a ragnarok drop on one run and the very next run dropped a hecatomb triple. It was a nice day. That should pay for a chunk of my storm corrupter's build plus field crafter. -
Quote:At work I do, it keeps my resolution about the same as at home so I don't have to move bars around every time and it allows me to stay logged in while I'm doing other stuff. At risk of gettong Modsmacked...
Dude, you play in a WINDOW? /=.
I wish I could use my work computer at home, it would be a bit nicer. -
Figured I might as well post it since I've now joined the club on my Live account.
Would have made it much earlier if I didn't spend so much money, but why earn it if not to spend it.
EDIT: Thread title made slightly more obvious for brophog02's sake -
Whenever I play on my NcSoft character on test, people recognize me.
On the other hand, way back when I was grinding out a character to play on justice named Moderator08 most people had no idea who I was. -
I'll actually go ahead and take a stab at replying to this question, before I go ahead and lock the thread.
The questions "Do we have Any QA Left?" "Do we employ the proper forms of automated or manual testing?" and "Whats that growing between my toes, and why does it itch so much?" are all pretty irrelevant to you folks in reality. The bigger questions are "Are we making you happy, and if not what will make you happy?". That's the bottom line, how we get it done is our business and we need to keep focused on that.
Part of the issue is communication difficulties. A lot of times we keep certain communications vague, because the effect of communicating information is either non-useful and confusing or actually harmful to the community. Because of our communication priorities, certain assumptions are made on the part of our users as to what the problems actually are. These may or may not be valid, but most of the discussion in this thread is centered around these assumptions or logical outgrowths of these assumptions combined with the experiences relating to these assumptions. This is natural and is a constant area in which my team seeks to refine our practices to improve.
Technical communication is especially difficult because of the diverse nature of the community being communicated to. Similar to any other discipline that uses it's own form of jargon, the most severe miscommunications occur when any form of jargon is used with others with a different understanding of the jargon in question (related disciplines are the worst in this because they use specific technical terms that have differing meanings in two very close fields).
When we create messaging about what is going on with the game, we have to create it specifically to communicate the correct idea to the greatest number of people without confusing them or giving them information that will be misconstrued or have the wrong emphasis placed on it. We're not perfect at this, but don't expect detailed technical information to be generally available because of the wider audience we are communicating with.
I have a number of great anecdotes from working here that I'd love to share, but won't not because you guys wouldn't enjoy them but because without the larger context of knowing how Paragon Studios works internally you'd have no way of processing the information meaningfully and would get completely wrong ideas about how things work around here. Ideas that might lead to more threads like this.
I'll let you know that the last rollback wasn't caused by something that any automated test could have caught. What it was was so obscure it's almost mind-boggling. It happens, and makes people unhappy. We don't want to make people unhappy, it's our job to not make them unhappy, but we don't always succeed and this time we didn't. We'll work harder in the future, and that's about all we can say. -
