I need to finish IO'ing fast! Before another simple set of 3 IOs costs me 25millBlessing of Zyphers: KB protection = NOT FUN! put a giant hole in my wallet...
[/ QUOTE ]
You missed it. Blessing: KB prot were down to around ~3M at one point, and I got a small pile of them blue and redside for about that. I saw them going for ~555k here and there, but those were more anomalies I think. The market is all about timing.
Ticket nerf = rise in rare salvage, but by the same virtue, commons and uncommons are coming back down. At the least, people will stop complaining about paying 100k for a Ruby, now that they're back up to paying 1M for a Chronal Skip.
This makes me a bit sad because I truly didn't hoard enough rare salvage at the time... but I'm a bit past the point where any rare salvage (even 4M Pangean Soils) put a dent in my wallet. It's the market. No matter what stuff costs, you can always make more.
Just keep in mind that rising prices = larger price variability = greater profits for flipping goods. -
The difference is RF mice versus Bluetooth. BT mice wolf through batteries compared to RF, which is why Logitech makes so many of them.

Being a petless mastermind is numerically absolutely worst-in-class at whatever you can do. Your buff-scale is significantly reduced from a Defender or Corruptor, and your damage-scale is pitifully low. All this is mitigated by having a gaggle of powerful, expendable, buffable, upgradable pets.
So just keep that in mind. Regardless of your primary/secondary picks, you're strictly worse at doing whatever it is you intend to do than any other character that team could have picked.
I'll typically excuse a lot of things, like new to an AT, new to the game, terrible builds, awful slotting, poor enhancing choices, basically any level of ignorance in groups. These are education issues, and once you steer someone properly, they'll fix it and the problem is solved. But, when someone knowingly terminally gimps their build for concept reasons, they're just not pulling their weight. It's your $15/month, and you can play however you want, just please don't subject other people to your build unless they're friends who don't mind pl'ing you. -
Common IO's have no set bonuses. Set bonuses are granted by having multiple IO's from a particular set in the same power. So for instance if you have 5 Crushing Impact IO's in a power, you get Immob resistance, Health, Accuracy, and Recharge.
Are you comparing a Common IO, which is single aspect, to a single aspect of a multi-aspect set IO? -
For defense, figure out whether your character inherently has typed defenses (smash lethal, fire, cold,, etc.) or positional (melee, ranged, aoe), and seek set bonuses that add more of the same.

I have Gravitational Anchor: Chance for Hold in Fire Cages. It only seems really effective against minions, where the mag 2 hold will mezz them in one application.
It seems like getting it to proc twice at 20% on a single boss in the span of a few seconds will be sufficiently hard to do. If you're dedicating 2-3 slots to hold procs, then you deserve to get a few seconds hold every now and then ~20-30% per attack cycle. -

It's a simpler solution to either leave things they way they are - and to also accept the numerous requests for padding as a necessary "evil" or to permit people to pad their own missions without disturbing others.
[/ QUOTE ]
People can already pad their missions without disturbing others. It's called having an SG or friends. They choose to disturb others because they're lazy, and OK about leeching in that way.
[ QUOTE ]
Technically, there is one actual rule about farming: customer support (GMs) are allowed to remove missions believed to be farming missions from the architect system. So if you want to be very technical, the rule is farming is allowed if it's undetected and unreported.
[/ QUOTE ]
How about this: People blind-ask me to pad. This violates ToS, and I report them. They get suspended a few times, and eventually learn to be more discrete, i.e. leave me alone. People learn to pad their missions without spamming. Win/win.
-
I put a single werewolf boss group in mine, who is a 45-54 foe. The mission will spawn at the lvl of the highest level player, or 45, and all players will be auto sk'ed to 45. This is useful for twinking lowbies, less useful for those lowbies to contribute meaningfully.
Depending on your mission design, this may be preferable to putting a stray Tyrant, who can be something of a handful.
Kind of obvious, but keep in mind SK'ed toons are much less effective, as foe difficulty scales up w/ level and such. -
You have a perception radius, P, and all foes have a stealth value, S, that is usually zero.
You can't perceive something until that thing's distance from you is less than (P - S). If S is greater than P, then you can't see it at all. Things like cloak and superspeed increase S, and smoke grenade, tactics, and rectified reticle unique buff/debuff P.
I like two pieces of Rectified Reticle for the small S/L def bonus. This is of course highly build dependent. -

I have it in Tactics on my Controller and can honestly say I have never felt it go off... maybe it has and I just never noticed it. Is there ANY sort of graphical indication? Buff icon, build up sound/effect, anything?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope. Just monitor your damage bonus. It works wonders.
[/ QUOTE ]
It also shows up in the "Healing Delivered" channel, or something like that which also includes buffs and debuffs, but that can be really hard to manage since all of your mezzes will probably have output to that channel as well. For a troller, I prefer Adjusted Targeting's +Acc and +Rech bonuses to Gaussians bonuses, but I don't have a high-dmg or high def troller build.
I have Gaussian's Proc in a PB Nova form. I basically almost never get it during combat, and the 5 second duration makes it minimally useful. 5% is just really, really low. I've seen it proc twice in a row, but ONLY if I'm marketeering.
I have another Gaussian's Proc in a stalker's build up (it would be here anyway for the 6/6 All pos def bonus). Once or twice, when I BU+AS, the boss just dropped in 2 hits. For me, that's also fairly minimally useful.
With a 5% chance to proc, I feel like the delta in efficacy between BU and tactics is irrelevant compared to its infrequency of proccing to begin with. If I had mad recharge, and BU was up faster, that would weigh things towards it. -

Actually, I WAS 50 before I ever ended up in a CoT prison, and that was in issue 12, so nothing to do with MA :P
[/ QUOTE ]
I have this problem as well. Most of my highbies hit 45-50 in issue 2-3. The game was a different beast back then. But, I still know where Skyway is. But there's a green line trolly there now, which freaks me out. -
When you mentioned pet class, I immediately pictured a mission where the player rescues schools and schools of rikti monkeys, then they all pigpile onto an AV boss with no AoE's. That would be epic, like ants taking on a beetle.
-
I wonder the same as well. They're probably overly concerned with people rolling tank mages or prefer the peaky 'randomness' of defense versus the steady mitigation of resistance.
The Res bonuses out there are just so stingy, you certainly wouldn't build towards them. Or, the only decently sized ones seem to be for Psi and Toxic (mostly through purples). -
You might just want to buy your Zephyr: Travels. Their price has fluctuated wildly recently on teh marketz, and they're pretty affordable now. Or, just set some low bids and wait a day or two.
-
I should clarify that I acknowledge that the Rikti Comm ops is probably a bug, just like static objects and Cimerora Immunes Surgeons were. They're designed to exist in spawns, etc, and singling them out in MA is something the devs said didn't intend and that they would address since before it was launched. So, Comm ops will probably get subbed with an MA specific version, and rightly so.

Well you know what would make the game more enjoyable for those of us who get asked to fill? The devs giving the team leader the option to spawn a map *as if* his team was bigger.
[/ QUOTE ]
The devs have had ample opportunity to implement adding a "players 8" a la diablo II type of command, and this is what we thought we were getting when mission difficulty was added to test. They specifically avoided this as best they could instead.
Clearly, the devs want to reward party size to promote teaming, and they added team xp multipliers and team oriented ATs and power sets to this end. So the correct thing to do would be to fix padding. That is, base spawn size on team members in the mission, and have spawns dynamically match team size. Of course, with every correct solution, the tech probably doesn't exist to accomplish this, and as an overall priority, it's probably low enough that it will never see a fix. -

Sorry mate,
I only let SGmates and occasionally Coalition members leech from me...but then I'm not farming for exp, when I want fills. When I want fills it is for inf/ prestige/ tickets/ enhancements/ recipies, which defeats the point of you being inside the zone while I'm killing.
[/ QUOTE ]
You get it, but you don't. They want something for nothing. I'm just proposing I get the same thing. You want stuff, I want stuff. We're all here for the stuff. Farmers think asking for pads is OK. It's just as OK as me asking to leech in the mish. -
[ QUOTE ]
Go farm if you want, but don't harass me by sending me a tell to join you or to ask me to fill.
As far as I'm concerned, tells from farmers asking me to fill are SPAM. And they will be reported as such from now on.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll fill anyone's mish - 10,000,000 INF up front, and they have 2 minutes to spawn. I'll even cut them a deal. I'll pad twice for 16,000,000, that's a 4,000,000 savings, but you have to act now!
I actually find fill requests to be totally, totally obnoxious, but the offer stands.
Perhaps a better response - "Yeah, filling is good, but howsbout I just come in mish and leech instead, you cool with that?"
Back in my plvling days - and I was killing more warwolves than ANYONE ELSE on Virtue for months - I invited leechers. It spawned more lts, which gave everyone more xp. Quid Pro Quo, farmers, quid pro quo. -
Aside from being terrible ideas, this would pretty much just impose limits on the flexibility of MA content, which would come back to affect everyone.
How is farming MA different from farming official content? Nothing has changed. And I don't mean since I14 was released, I mean nothing has changed since the dawn of MOOs and MUDs and grinding some 20 odd years ago. -
Can't you just give them the defender blast set, or corr blast set to avoid defiance? Or do custom critters get defiance with all their blaster blast sets regardless of how they get them?
-
I would caution against making an AV/Hero ally under any circumstances. Their power level tends to be completely out of whack with respect to other AV's, and their damage scale is so high they steal all the xp and reward from the players, along with gameplay and decisions. I understand that you want to tell your story, and balance things, but this is still a game first, at least, until they add the "cut scene architect", then you can have people stand around and watch your story, which is more or less what happens when an ally AV enters the mix.

2. The fact that khelds have a chance to spawn Quantums/Crystals. I've been rejected from many taskforces and farms because the people were afraid I'd spawn a crystal and we'd all wipe. Heaven forbid something in this game gives a challenge...
[/ QUOTE ]
Are the Cysts the same as the ones in ITF? When was this change added? I hardly run my kheld any more, but I've never run into a cyst in a mission. She's only lvl ~32 anyway.
If they're similar to the Cysts in ITF, they're more than manageable, since their blast radius is far less than blaster range, and any toughy can stand toe-to-toe with them. I don't get the issue.
And Quantums only kill Kheldian's anyway. It's because we taste like poundcake to them. -

Very handy videos, though! I hope a lot more folks see them and actually use this zone a bit.

It is just plain depressing that the mere act of *getting around* in a zone should require a guide, and that someone being able to get around in the zone is considered impressive. And, I do consider it impressive. I can't take a SS or SJ toon through there. Maybe they could actually *fix* the shard to get people to use the zone.
My guide for getting around the Shadow Shard is significantly shorter:

Also, Group Fly/Group Energy Flight.

I was helping someone with a Patron Mish where you had to defeat some AVs in a cave full of some baddies that use Tornado. I was playing a Rad/Rad corr that normally is ONLY played on an SG team with real life friends, so his powerpicks were deviantly min/maxed for the specific team. He had group fly and another team mate had team tp, so that we could cart the team around (the other two ppl didn't have travel powers).
Any rate, the fight was going poorly because we couldn't sustain DPS on the AV, and he was summoning summons that summoned tornados, and everything non-tough was getting knocked silly. People started dying and it looked like we were going to fail. Then I thought, "hey I can turn on group fly and mitigate a ton of this kb", so I threw the idea out there, and the team leader liked it. I enabled group fly, and basically stopped attacking (due to the horrendous end consumption), and the team regrouped and quickly overcame the AV. The end result is that Group Fly was totally key in defeating that foe, given our party composition. I was pleasantly surprised. -
I'm becoming more and more of a fan of Hover + Superspeed for complete invisibility, and SS + Rocket Pack for actual travel. None of my characters actually take Fly, as it seems something of a wasted power pick with rocket packs.
I don't mind the 2 minutes of stealth, and I'll click Hover on/off just to re-enable 2 more minutes of end-free stealth.
