Quote:Exactly right. With those three freed up slots I'll take powers that make my characters more versatile. Will Blackstar make my Dark/Dark defender uber, for example? No, it will be very situational. But it will be fun to use it every long now and then.I also want to propose a question to anybody who thinks inherent stamina is so important. What 3 powers would you take instead (keep in mind you get no extra slots, just powers) that would make you so uber? It's asinine to say that stamina would make the whole game so much easier. If you want to claim it would lead to a drop in challenge, then you have to back that up by demonstrating that most builds would become dramatically stronger with 3 extra powers. Since those who take stamina skip their 3 most skippable powers, any powers they do add instead will likely be situational at most.

Quote:I agree. On the other hand, a worst case scenario for me would be if they required the TF to get the slot. I'd take the system they had before rather than that. Some meaningful soloable content to get into the background would be great.I just hope that whatever solo option they decide for the Incarnate stuff is meaningful and reasonably challenging. I think this system will be a big failure if it is like during GR beta and amounted to no more than minion farming.
(I doubt you'd need to do the TF to get the slot, because I suspect the difficulty in the TF will be ramped up a little to take the slot into account.) -
I hope that there's more mission content related to the Alpha Slot then just the TF. I'd rather not have the only incarnate missions being stuff I can't reasonably do (being teaming impaired).
But I'm very much looking forward to Fitness being made inherent. Nearly all my characters use Fitness powers, and I can make great use of those freed up power slots... especially now that villains have access to ancillary pools. -
Quote:If you're farming it, wouldn't you want to do the same thing over and over? That way you know what to expect and can do it faster. I thought that was pretty much the whole point of farming. Get an efficient repetetive method to get your desired reward. So this means all level 50 Heroes who farm them for the Hero alignment points are truly doing the same exact mission over and over and over?
Personally, I'd like to see more variety, but I wouldn't do the same morality mission with the same character more than once a month anyway. My characters need to work on their story arcs too. -

1. 8-Bit Trip
Awesome. Plus, I couldn't watch the other one for very long.
2. The Mean Kitty Song
The Insane Clown Posse should hire this guy to write their lyrics.
3. Just say <shudder>
Neither make me want to watch again, but I couldn't watch the other for very long.
4. 4chan: The Music Video
Surprisingly well choreographed for such a disjointed mess.
5. Tay Zonday "Never Gonna Give You Up"
The other was much worse, but not in an entertaining way.
6. Soulja Boy "I Look Like Goku"
Good work with the faces. Bad music. Considering it's Dragonball, it works.
7. Don't copy that floppy!
Both have music that gets too repetitive after the second verse. I'll go with the computer geeks.
8. The Muppets: Bohemian Rhapsody
The Superman song was entertaining, but I have a hard time voting against the Muppets. -
I don't see much that's interesting to me, besides the Brightest Day and Green Lantern stuff. The overhaul of the Batman line is being spearheaded by Morrison, and I generally don't like his work. He changes characters in weird ways too much for my tastes, and he promises to make Bruce more of a spiritual character. I don't plan to get Batman Inc.
I'm also not that fond of Straczynski's approach to Superman and Wonder Woman. But with Geoff Johns still big in DC, and Gail Simone still writing comics I like, I have hope that DC overall will keep drawing my interest.
Marvel hasn't done anything to draw me back. Ninja team X-Men with the claws and swords and guns just looks dumb to me, and don't get me started on Bendis-style Avengers, Rulk, and Queseda-Spidey. (But having said that, I am enjoying the Thanos Imperative, because I'm always a sucker for a Thanos story.) -

Poison Ivy hasn't been written with any kind of consistency. She's been very nature-oriented ever since she turned green, but her attitude towards other people has been variable. I suppose that can be explained as part of her insanity.
Personally, I prefer the version of Poison Ivy that wasn't green, wasn't insane, and didn't care much about nature beyond an advanced gardening hobby. She turned into a plant girl cliche, whose ony redeeming quality is that she still has blood filled with a variety of toxins. -
I have about 50 characters. Ten of them have active dual builds.
And all of my characters have a number of veteran respecs available, none of which have been used, because getting one freespec every now and then has been plenty. -
Quote:My level 50 Energy/Regen stalker is one of my favorite characters, and turned out to be my first character to switch sides. I plan to have her go through all the hero arcs now. I've soloed that character all the way, and I don't do PvP. (Fortunately, switching to hero fits nicely into her original character concept.)Yep. I have a lev 45-1/2 claws/regen stalker. Haven't played him in a bit now, but that's because of altitis and GR, not for lack of love. Oh and I soloed him all the way. So I guess I'm playing wrong or something. I should have deleted him and all this time I was enjoying playing him. I'm so embarrassed!
I've noticed a lack of hordes of enemies as I've been doing Praetoria arcs. I could have just been lucky so far, but I think I've seen a sinister pattern. There are a number of missions with very short (~4 minutes) timers, which promise to unleash nasty things on the character if you don't finish in time. So far, I've been beating those timers. I'm beginning to suspect that people who don't beat those timers are the ones who are getting those huge ambushes. The problem is, it's unrealistic to expect the average player to beat that time limit. Are people seeing this kind of thing happen?
Granted I've been getting some smaller ambushes that were fairly nasty for low level play, but I've been able to deal with them so far. -
Let me guess: "Malta Gunslinger Action Figure" mission, Hero version. Even solo on standard difficulty, you get rapid-fire ambushes from Hell. (The Vigilante version is much more reasonable.)

I've never liked the fact that Ouroboros arcs are in TF mode. That means if I run into a problem, I may have to quit and start over again. That can be a real pain if I'm deep into a long story arc. I want the option of abandoning or auto-completing a mission.
So yes, beware of long Ouroboros story arcs until the bug gets fixed. -
-
Quote:Apparently Terror1 started an arc through Ouroboros, made some progress on the arc, and then received a mission with a door location in Praetoria (the known issue). The only option for Terror1 at this point is to quit the arc, which abandons all the progress made to that point. (Since you can't abandon a mission in TF mode.)I'm confused what the problem is...?
I mean I get what's happening, but where's the actual problem?
Ouroboros arcs are now a little risky due to the bug. It's unfortunate, but fixing the bug probably won't help Terror1. I suggest quitting the arc and moving on for now. -
Quote:This one. My goal would be to set an example for other citizens, and that in itself would be more important than catching a given criminal. (On the other hand, like Hidden Hero, I wouldn't have anything against vigilantes.)My question: Do you, like Superman, bind yourself by the moral code and legal system of your city like a Hero? You set an example and are the ideal citizen, but your unwillingness to cross the line restricts you from many many methods of information gathering and arrest. As a result, you remain a virtuous ambition of many, but less criminals are caught.

It's a bit difficult to rely on inspirations in the low levels. You don't get very good drops, and your tray isn't very big.
I've been complaining about ambushes targeted on the character for years. It's not fair for stalkers. (Same with PToD EBs versus dominators.) The devs went a little overboard with the all the ambushes in the new content. -
My favorite is still an Ice Blast/Ice Manipulation/Cold Mastery Blaster.
Whoops. You wanted a combo. Well, my second favorite is an Energy/Regen Stalker. I'm not sure how that works on a team, and you'd have to start in Praetoria, but there you go. -
I haven't used transfers, and I don't intend to.
I also haven't decided where to put my two new slots yet. I have plenty of slots available, with only around 50 characters. -
Eden. Besides a few badges and plaques, I have no use for Eden. At least in Dark Astoria there are mission doors.
For CoV... no. I'd add a new zone. -
What is "dieing"? Is that like rolling a die?
-
They're actually vulnerable to lethal attacks. (Which is refreshing, since so many other high level enemies are resistant to lethal attacks.)
