One I remember was when fighting 3 nemesis spwans at once on an 8 man invincible mission, within 30 seconds every one else on the team was dead, I continued to clear the room, about half way through, with most of my health left, one of my team mates says "Wow, elude really is good!" I replied "Yeah, i'm saving it for when i need it" the team's reactions were priceless!

I've been meaning to write the Bio for my 2nd and 3rd toons for a while, I finnaly got round to doing it yesterday. An edited version of Mic's fitted into the ingame Bio page but Allu & Angels is a bit too long so I'm gonna post it here instead!
I called it Origins Part 1. as it's intended to part of a trilogy, whether or not I ever get round to writing parts 2 and 3 is another matter though!
I've never been very good at creative writing but I was inspired and am quite proud of this one, So, here it is, Enjoy!
Origins Part 1.
[u]KalRii[u]
A few light years from earth lies a small planet, a planet almost completely covered in lush green forests and great expanses of water, the only evidence of life is a large metal tower rising high above the trees at a point almost exactly dead centre of the southern most continent. This tower is the gateway to a vast, enclosed city, the city of KalRii, the only city left on Tathnaar.
The inhabitants of Tathnaar had fled the lands many years ago when the land turned against them, the decline of the industrial era had turned the air to poison and the sky to acid, it was known as the fall. A huge city was built to protect the people of Tathnaar, with its own air and water supplies, they were safe. The city was named KalRii, meaning Haven in an ancient Tathaarian language. Over time the forests reclaimed the land once taken by the native people and even took the roof of the great city its self, camouflaging it from all who looked down from the skies.
[u]The Sisters[u]
Inside the city there was a constant hum of life, of people going about their business without a care for what was outside of their citys walls. In an eastern block of the city lay a research centre, the centre for great minds and academics pondering their own existence and the morality of re-using teabags, amongst other things. Were gonna be late! a sleepy young woman brushes the bright blue hair from her face and looks through bleary eyes at her sister I just want to sleep she murmurs. Azzair! Come on! We dont have time for this, you know what today is! Allura barks, grabbing her things. Its all rubbish anyway! Azzair says sarcastically Youll see, today will be just like any other day, it always is! Those scriptures were written by some crazy old fool who believed he was spoken to by something from space, he was probably just drunk or something! The reply echoed down the hallway Thats not the point; were still going to be late!
[u]The Scriptures[u]
As Allura hauled the heavy metal door to the research centre open Azzair flew through, clipping Alluras arm with her wing as she went, HEY! Ha-ha! You should have opened the door quicker! Azzair said to her now, rather annoyed older sister. The two sisters enter the main conference room just in time to catch the start of the Lead Researchers briefing We all know what today is, today is the coming the day the skies shall rain fire and the daemons shall walk the lands Whatever! giggles Azzair as she smiles at her sister, only to be met with a prompt Shh! The lead continues I know most people today believe these scriptures to be a load of old baloney, but weve been getting some very strange results from our equipment over the last few days and its getting worse. Gravitational anomalies have formed over the planet and three of our satellites have stopped transmitting this morning. A steward hands a piece of paper to Allura, it outlines a task the Lead wants her to take care of immediately. Allura, you are the head of quantum mechanics, I want you too look into this, I need a mind like yours to deal with this, the details are in the brief youve just been given Sure Sir, I can take care of this. Responds Allura, The Lead continues Use whatever resources and people you need, our lives may depend on your results!
[u]The Coming[u]
Later that day, Allura! a researcher comes flying in to the room Allura! Look at this! He excitedly hands her a pint-out. Well!? he splutters. Allura takes a moment to study the text on the page, Oh God! she gasps, the other occupants of the room turn to her with a mixture of puzzled and worried expressions. Its happening! She grabs the nearest communicator Its real Sir, Theyre here! she drops the communicator on the desk, a look of horror washes over her face. Seconds later an announcement goes out across the city, followed by a siren, People panicking and bumping into each other in mid-air, as the special ops forces mobilize. This is the day they have been training for, the day they hoped would never come.
Moments later deafening explosions fill the air, parts of the great cities roof collapse to the ground in a shower of dust and debris as the toxic gas filters through from outside.
Allura! Azzair scrambles to push some debris off her sister and a research hand, Are you ok? she says. Allura clambers to her feet Yeah, I think so. Weve got to get out of here! Azzair cries, beginning to panic, No, come to my lab, I think its our only chance The two sisters scramble to Alluras lab, walls crumbling around them. Once inside the door, Allura types wildly into a console on the wall Quick she says, gesturing to her sister to get behind a small screened area of the lab. Allura slides past a metal safety screen to join her sister as it slams shut What are you doing? Mutters Azzair, almost petrified by what is happening. Suddenly a bright flash of light engulfs them and a loud crack echoes through the city. Azzair wakes up a few moments later to find her sister gone, she climbs out from behind the screen and starts to look for her big sister, desperate to find her.
[u]The Last Hope[u]
A couple of miles across the city Allura fights her way through the battered walls and debris, it isnt long before theres a loud buzzing all around her and she finds herself surrounded by five or six daemons with metal skin. With the energy pulsing through her veins from her experiment she closes her eyes and concentrates her mind on the daemons, three replicas of herself appear around her and start to fight off the daemons, Allura relaxes and lets herself go as toxic gas pours from her skin, choking the daemons around her. Bang! Allura falls to the floor as fresh blood drips from the back of her head.
Across the city Azzair, now searching for an escape more than her sister, approaches a large hole in the roof of the city structure, the gasses no longer toxic to her, she flies freely out into the open air. This must be what Allura was working on she mutters under her breath, She looks out across the expanses of burning trees and cratered lands, Wow! she gasps, As a huge Spacecraft hums into view through the clouds, the air swirling around it. The reality of what is happening hits her like a heavy hand to the face. She spots what looks like a base camp in a small clearing east of the city I have to get to that clearing she thinks to herself, flying as fast as she dares towards it. She gets a few hundred yards from her target when a small oddly shaped craft glides past her in the opposite direction, smoke streaming from its engines. Azzair! a strange voice echoes inside her head, just on the edge of her perception, she glances round hurriedly, theres nothing there. Azzair! Come to me! She looks round again, the craft has struck the ground and is sticking out like a miss-shaped splinter in the earth. That voice still echoing in her mind Come to me Azzair, I can help you She glides cautiously towards the twisted metal craft. A pale blue ball of energy emerges from the rubble I am Maldare, do not be afraid echoes the voice in her head. What are you? she enquires. I am a kheldian, a being of pure energy and I sense great strength in you but? she exclaims, I came here to stop the Rikti, the ones you call daemons but the rest of my group have been killed, I fear we may not survive this unless we become as one, unless you become my host A host? she stammers, This cant be real! Maldare glides slowly towards Azzair.
A short while later, on the northern edge of the city Allura wakes up, still dazed from the blow, as she looks up she notices four metal daemons dragging a group of people, kicking and screaming into the back of a drop ship, after bundling the last one in, they turn to collect the next group, including Allura. The people around her panicking and crying, one young woman begging for her life as tears stream down her face. Allura presses herself forcefully against a tree, closes her eyes and concentrates as hard as she can. A few moments pass and the noise of the horror starts to fade followed by a sharp metallic clunk and the now very familiar buzzing that sound rings through her ears. Allura cautiously opens one eye, scared of what she might see. Nothing. She opens the other eye and glances quickly around, still nothing. She takes a sharp gasp of breath, theyve gone. She exhales deeply and relaxes into the tree, her eyes widen as she looks down at the trodden grass beneath her, then raises her right hand, nothing. There isnt a soul in sight, not even herself. She smiles and laughs to herself as she realizes shes completely invisible!
[u]Combination[u]
Allura quickly gathers herself together, looking for an idea of what to do next, she spots a small clearing further into the now desolated forest and starts to move towards it. As Allura enters the clearing she spots a spire of twisted metal and a body lying next to it Azzair!? she gasps Is that you!? Theres no reaction. What happened to your hair? Allura rushes over to her sister Are you ok? still nothing. Allura gently slides her hand under her sisters head and turns her face towards her own, brushing her bright red hair from her face, Allura had not seen any one with red hair before, no one on Tathnaar had, every Tathnaarian has deep blue hair. What have they done to you!? Azzairs eye lids start to lift revealing her eyes glowing like brilliant white fires in her head. Cmon says Allura, Weve got to go Allura wraps her arms firmly around her sister and takes to flight. Azzair mutters weve got to get to that ship, its our only hope. Allura changes direction towards the ship, unusually she did what Azzair said.
As they approach the mother ship, a squad of special ops soldiers whiz past them, steaming energy bolts at every thing that moves. Allura glides towards a small hatch on the top of the ship, its grille damaged from a previous attack. She leans Azzair against a ridge and prizes the grille away, then enters dragging her sister inside with her. They take a few moments, away from the deafening explosions and searing energy blasts going on outside. Azzair begins to come to, she looks blankly at Allura and asks What happened? Azzairs question was met with a smile I thought you were the one that knew everything Azz! Are you ok now? I think so Azzair replies as she climbs to her feet. The two of them move through the narrow vents and passageways, twisting and turning in all directions until they get to a vent leading to a large storage area. They drop down into the room filled with metal crates and random junk. I think well be safe here for a while Allura whispers If there is such a thing as safe any more!
To the back of the room theres a control panel jutting out from the wall, they move over to it, Allura gazes at the controls for a moment theres got to be a way to use this some how she says. Yeah, Good luck with that! Azzair replies Im gonna find something to eat, Im starving! Back to your old self I see!? Allura jokes as she studies the alien dialect on the panel, running her hand over its smooth, cold surface. Suddenly an alarm sounds, What did you do!? shouts Allura, It wasnt me! Azzair replies I was just looking! Then the loud buzzing rings out, Ten, Twelve, Fourteen guards now surround them Oh god! The sisters collide, back to back, surrounded as another six guards teleport in. Azzair lifts into the air, her arms held aloft before a blinding white flash fills the room, the shockwave from the blast sends crates and guards alike flying across the floor. How the? says Allura, I dont know gasps Azzair, her eyes glowing more intensely than ever.
The girls stumble towards the exit, as explosions tear through the ship, the heavy groaning of twisting metal rings out around their ears. The energy blast from Azzair has done more damage than they first realized. They speed down a corridor as the wall behind them buckles and gives way to the forces pounding on it. Allura grabs Azzairs arm and swings her into a room In here! she yells as she darts over to a drop ship on the near side of the hanger, they clamber inside, the floor now approaching a thirty degree angle as the mother ship slides from its former trajectory. Azzair is hit by a vision, suddenly she can understand the strange alien language, she immediately knows what to do, as if being guided by some one else. As she fires up the engines and sets the flight path, she turns to Allura and smugly says Lets get out of here! The tiny craft floats away from the mother ship, Allura watches through a side window as the huge ship breaks up, falling to its doom before giving in to its destructive fiery death as it collides with the ground below.
[u]The Angel of a Damned Race[u]
Azzair expertly glides the craft over the once great city, now battered and bruised from the invasion, as the remaining drop ships and bombers make a hasty retreat towards the skies. Soldiers and scientists below already starting to explore the outside environment, now no longer a threat to them. The sisters look at each other and smile, You saved them Azz! Allura beams, You drove away the daemons! You are the Angel of the Damned Race! The scriptures were correct, and who would have thought that my little sister would be our Angel!? Grinning, Azzair replies Angel of the Damned! I think I like that!
The sisters both know that this fight hasnt ended, not by a long way. Azzair smiles as she sets a course for the Riktis next target, a planet called Earth.

You can slot the stealth IO's in nova form I believe.
COuld make for easier traveling and safer blasting.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have a +Stealth IO in nova form and yes it makes a difference, you can get a bit closer and draw less agro from mobs, it's helped me out quite a few times! It's not full invisability though so you still have to be a bit carefull
-
[ QUOTE ]
Scrappers lead on Raw DPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I had stated it "years ago" to non believers, I shall now leave the game and come back in 5 years when people have caught up with the knowledge I have
[/ QUOTE ]
I could have pointed that out 3 years ago myself, it doesn't mean it's no fun trying to prove it wrong though
Besides, a Fire/EM built for max offense closes the gap on scrappers a bit, handles more agro and can control agro better too -
[ QUOTE ]
My answer to anyone who wants to play as scrapper is to play a scrapper.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or build a tank with a good offense and get the best of both worlds
I actually came up against some of these problems tonight, after a few attempts to fully controll agro, only to see the blasters snipe a different group of mobs etc. I just pretty mutch went with the flow and played as a scrapper with an over-active taunt (I still managed to keep the majority of the agro even though i don't have my taunt aura yet - i did point out my lack of aura to the team at the begining) and even though we were fighting reds & purples, we were tearing through them at an increadible rate!
I guess sometimes it's just better to go with the flow and let the tanking role be shaired out a bit
[ QUOTE ]
Also I have never played WoW but is the pulling thing common there? Some guy had come over from it and said it was essential in WoW. Maybe this accounts for the influx of bored WoW bringing that dynamic?
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, from my experiance it's quite the oposite, there is no specific 'tank' or 'blaster' for example, as each of of the 9 classes has 3 'power sets' there are a couple of different classes that can perform each 'role' so a 'puller' is normaly designated at the start and pretty mutch stuck to. You also have to remember that WoW's instances are more like TF's here. WoW also seems to be dominated by people who watch their team's performance in intricate detail and repremand them if they aren't fully fulfilling their role in the team!
There are of coarse a few idiots that just do what ever they want but i think there are in every game. -
Nice thread!
I actually learned most about tanking with my PB, probably because Dwarf is a tank taken right back to basics! I now apply these tactics to my actual (all be it low level) tank
I always considered it standard fare to aproach a group, aoe as many as posible, pass through the group and taunt any i haven't already got the attention of, then proceed to pound on/taunt any mobs that look like they might turn their attention away from meI agree about being disapointed if anyone other than me gets hit too, I feel like they're encroaching on my teritory
-
[ QUOTE ]
Any tanker who relies solely on one method and one method alone, needs to get themselves into terra volta, and back to the drawing board.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
So for all those tankers, that rely on or believe that theres only one way of doing it....
Time to go back to school cos youve got a lot to learn.
[/ QUOTE ]
No offence but people play how they want to play, and, as they pay their subs, it's their perogative, there is no right or wrong way to play, if you're not happy with a team there is always the option to make your excuses and leave
Now that's out of the way, different builds are better at different things, not many can cover all aspects of a role fully, for example, inv tankers are better at herding as their sheilds work better when surounded by lots of mobs, fire tankers on the other hand are better with smaller groups, the key is to adapt to each other's play style i think
Now if only a khelds taunt was auto-hit, I'd be able to tank with the best of 'em -
Sorry for the delay in posting this, forgot i posted to this thread ><

Unfortunatly you can't export both set-up's in one go, this is just the Set-IO build, The empty slot in Health is a free slot to put where you want, putting a proc IO in one of the attacks for example.
One point of note; This build doesn't provide any KB protection, the free slot could be used for the unique KB IO (I can't remember it's name though) if you prefer. This build is an extension of my non Set-IO build which fits my play style, you may want to make a few adjustments to it to fit your own style better -
I'm a Tri-Former myself so i'm not 100% on the viability of Hunam Only or Bi-Form builds, However, I think it would be a good idea to put a couple more slots in White Dwarf Antagonize if you plan on tanking for teams at all, i still find it hard work with mine 3 slotted! (though i have no idea where you'd get the slots from
)
I'd also drop Quantum Flight for Hasten, i found QF to be a truelly awfull travel power & the end drain is just stupid! If you use it as a 'panic power' it'll normally drop before you're in the clear, Light Form makes for a mutch better 'panic power' imo.
Also from experiance, the human attacks often leave a whole in your attack chain, and as human form is your main damage form, this might be a worry (personnaly i switch to nova form in these instances), i'd wait on the advice of a fellow Bi-Former about that one though. -
i think PB's are perfectly solo'able without any IO's at all!
However, after a brief look at that build, i noticed you have the 3 toggle sheilds but only 2 main attacks (the 2 blasts will be very weak with 1 & 3 slots) in human form, so if you use nova or dwarf forms mutch, you'll spend more time toggling sheilds than hitting things which may be a concern, i'd prioritise the attacks over the defences (though that's my personal preference, I've found that about 80% of damage done to me is smashing/lethal and having both heal powers negates the rest).
I also spotted that you have 3 taunts & 1 recharge in White Dwarf Antagonize, you will definatly want to swap one of the taunts to an accuracy, even then it will still probably miss more than you'd like it to
Other than that, it looks pretty workable to me!
I also found Solar Flare to be really usefull, i open up with BU - Nova Form - Bright Nova Scatter - Bright Nova Detonation - Human Form - Solar Flare - Incandescent Strike (on the Boss), this wipes out most 4 - 6 man even conning spawns, and even some +1 spawns, without even breaking a sweat!
I can post my build if you like (it has both SO/IO slotting and Set-IO/HO slotting included, using 'character-Slots-Flip all to alternate' to change between the two).
Hope this helps. -
Just a few things i'd change with the PB, i can't comment on th WS as i have hardly played as one;
Having 3 slots in incandescence isn't really worth worth it imo, 1 res SO gives 13.5% res, 3 res SO's gives 17.6%, 4.1% extra energy/negative res sounds like a bum-deal to me. The power is a bit rubbish really but you don't have the option to drop it
The 3 extra slots in nova form are a bit of a wast too imo, the 3 end mods add a total of 15% recovery over all (which is about 3 end per second iirc) and that to-hit adds a whopping 1.8% to-hit over all.
imo you'd be better off with BU 3 slotted (with recharges) so you can use it more often for the classic triple aoe opener.
Dawn Strike has an inherent acc bonus (from 75% base to 105%) so the acc in it isn't really needed imo
I found 2 res SO's plenty in light form, though the third will still make you harder to kill, on a side note: you can't change form but can use every other human power with it on, including sheilds etc. and it has no spi resistance.
Group Energy Flight is very slow as a travel power and most (if not all) players have their own travel power at level 44I've never encountered a situation where it would be usefull but if there's nothing else you want more, go for it, it does look cool making every one's eyes glow
I'd put a couple of damages in bright nova detonation, especially for the triple aoe opener
You have a lot of damages in your dwarf attacks, the dwarf doesn't do mutch damage, strike does about the same damage as glinting eye, smite as gleaming blast & flare is inbetween, the dwarf is great for taking damage but not for giving it, also if you plan on tanking for a team, you will need at least 2 more slots in your taunt (recharge or taunt, it's up to you).
Gleaming Bolt does slightly more damage than brawl, the other two blasts are also pretty weak too.
I noticed you don't have stamina planned in, although it isn't required, if you use human form mutch, you will have end problems. I have stamina and still have end issues when using human attacks and conserve energy isn't up anywhere near as often as you'll need it to be.
Other than that, yeah it looks good
I hope this helps, most of it is just my opinion
If you have any questions or want to witness the 'triple aoe opener' i keep banging on about, give me a shout in game, I usually play as my PB (Angel of the Damned), my global is @Micron if i'm not -

As I said, I wasn't too enthused by CAK, so when I get to 30 I'll make my mind up whether to take that or perhaps Cobra Strike.
[/ QUOTE ]
Imho, ditch CAK in favour of CS, although CS does virtually no damage, it's disorient has a 100% hit rate (not including when the power itself misses) which stacks with both EC and TK's disorient for a total of mag 8 disorient, CAK's Imob doesn't stack with anything and is imo usless for a scrapper most of the time, CAK's dps & eps are also average for a MA set pure damage power (TK's & CAK's dps & eps are virtually identical ignoring recharge times for dps for example and all the MA attacks are very close in dps if you include recharge times). As i've said to many people before, i'd go for the synergy of CS, your dps will go down a little but your general servivability will go up more than enough to compensate for this. CS has saved my hide on a number of ocaisions, i can't say the same for CAK.
After saying all that, if you do opt for CAK over CS (or any other power for that matter), it won't exactly break your build and, for pure damage, CAK is still better than any of the pool power alternatives -
You can only activate one power in each macro, but, iirc, pressing that macro a second time would activate the other shield (provided you wait 'till after the first animation has finnished)

/e slap
/e smack
/e howl
these all work (and i use them regularly) -
I'd agree with Maximus, each end mod or to hit SO in nova form gives a 5% boost, i droped the end mods and didn't notice any difference in end use, and after dropping the to hit SO's, hero stat's reported a 1 - 2% drop in average accuracy, definatly not worth the slots imho
-
I think it all comes down to play-style.
Human only-ers are speciallists (more slots in fewer powers),
Tri-formers are the more flexible fill-in-the-gap players,
Bi-form-ers are (Obviously) in between the two.
I tend to swich form ALOT, in teams and solo, human has better single target damage (and the almighty build-up), nova has better aoe's and dwarf is better for dealing with mezzers & in tricky spots.
so for a medium to large spawn i'd (Human) BU -> (Nova) aoe -> (Dwarf/Human) to clear mezzers -> (Human) finnish the last couple off and if needed -> (Nova) splat the would-be escapee's. All those form changes probably annoys the hell out of my team mates though. -

I could never get this to work
Instead i use:
/bind c "target_name quantum$$target_name void$$target_name cyst"
you could add any other enemy name to the list, eg sappers. As with previous examples, the name at the END of the list is the one targeted FIRST.
enjoy.
