That website is too hard to read, i just wait for the update on the hero builderOutside that nofuture misses alot of info regarding damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
The point is that the hero-builder is incorrect, giving values that don't reflect actual numbers. Doing some power analysis from the numbers on nofuture, with fire being given 'averaged' values, the highest non nova attack DPS powers are in order as follows. (fire and ice only).
Blaze
Bitter Ice Blast
Ice Blast
Fire Ball
Fire Blast
Ice Bolt
Blazing Bolt
Fire Breath
Flares
Frost Breath
[/ QUOTE ]
[censored]? Blazing Bolt scores lower than Blaze?? I think not.
To X-treme. I hear you man, I've got a lv 50 Fire/Nrg. He's pretty damn awesome in PVP. It's just that he's more dependent on teams, because of the massive end drain and lack off any control type powers. That's where Ice/Nrg has the advantage really. In teams however, Fire/Nrg is superior.
Ice/Nrg can't run into an enemie team and drop a Nuke(well then can try). Ice/Nrg can't snipe someone from half a map distance away. That's the difference really. Both Ice and Fire are good at a full out PVP brawl, but when applying different types of tactics, Fire is just more versatile as it can deliver both massive AoE damage as long range spiking damage. -

I have to say, ocular problems aside, I love ice tanks (Not that you asked). They give you so many cool toys to play with, and there is nothing quite like standing in the middle of 20 mobs and hearing complete silence as they all swing wildly at the air around you. Yet even when you are at your most slippery and unhitable, there is always a chance you could get unlucky and it could all go horribly wrong. The frisson created by this tension between power and vulnerability stimulates the parts other tanks cannot reach.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. I've played squishies ever since I started CoH and I've finally started an Ice Tank. Totally friggin awesome. It's been a bit scary at times, running into mobs and you get a bad patch of luck and get hit a lot, but when it works, it works beautifully. Now that I've finally gotten Hibernate, even some bad luck won't be able to stop me. -
Fire/Nrg is defenitely awesome. I'd say that it's a bit better suited as a team build compared to Ice/Nrg, which can be extremely powerful as a solo build. Fire has a fantastic Snipe and a great Nuke next to it's regular attack chain, which makes it very versatile and useful for different types of tactics.
Also, I just love jumping into an 8 man invincible spawn solo and just clearing it on my lv 50 Fire/Nrg. Can't do that on an Ice/Nrg, or at least not as quickly. -

You dont have to challenge them this week

of course! was goning to say somthing about that, is it ok for everyone at meet up at 9 and start 9.30?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll ask around, but I dunno, that's 10:30/11:30 for some of our players.
[/ QUOTE ]
mmm, lets see. Play a PVP fight at 10:30 until at least 11:30 or later. Then wake up at 6 the next morning to go to work. Assuming ofcourse that I fall asleep instantly after the fight.
mmmm, no. -

On my SR I took weapons mastery mainly for the web grenade for pvp and the fact I dont have enough endurance for Focused accuracyThe surieken look cool but I havent really tested out the damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, I've worked out that by taking FA and 3-slotting it with End Reducers I can take an Acc out of my attacks and replace it with an EndRdx and use less end per attack chain.
[/ QUOTE ]
wouldn't that kinda defeat the point of getting FA, mainly getting [censored] high accuracy? Personally, I find Body Mastery to be boring, so I'm going with Weapon Mastery as well. -
I'd skip cloaking device and get Fire Breath for levelling. Also, try slotting it, it's not as simple as just picking powers. You have to be able to slot them as well.

Hmmmm maybe an idea. We just get a bunch of people, sort them into teams, then one of those teams wins overall. But then that same team must try and defend that title each week as different teams with different people try and organise themselves into the winning team. Would be interesting as then we could see what the best kind of team set up is.
[/ QUOTE ]
We already know
[/ QUOTE ]
What!? When did this happen and why was I not informed!

[ QUOTE ]
Once all teams are ready there will be a team battle... the winner of that is king of the hill and every (day chosen here) one of the teams will challenge them to try and become the new of king of the hill.

first post of the thread m8 -
It was good fun. The new build seemed to work ok, even got some kills this time.
And to the people who were supposed to be Hidden Healers team... shame on you. Seriously. The guy was there solo. At least show him some respect and post in this thread if you're not gonna show up so he knows what's going on. Next time, don't bother signing up for something if you're not gonna show. -
I don't know how much End drain the Fire Secondary does, but I'm thinking a lot. I'd slot more end reductions in your armour. Slot at least one end reducs in Frozen Armour and Glacial Armour and 2 in Chilling Embrace. I'd slot Taunt for 2 recharge at least, and maybe 2 range, or Taunt duration, but you'll mostly be keeping aggro with your Chilling Embrace anyways, which I would slot with 2 Taunt durations(that makes 2 end reducs and 2 taunt durations).
Energy Absorbtion should be slotted with 3 recharge and maybe a mix of end mods and def buffs, but not end reductions.
I wouldn't pick Power mastery Epic, unless you were planning on doing PVP and I certainly wouldn't pick Conserver Power from it as you already have a very good end power with Energy Absorbtion. -

I dont see how the content in COV is any less enjoyable but guess thats just me.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not. It's exactly the same. That's the problem really. Enter mission, click some glowies, kill mobs. Repeat until lv 50.

All right folks, Countess Ivy is now complete!
[/ QUOTE ]
Damn, that's very very nice. Very atmospheric. One of the best yet. -
I still think /dev depends too much on tricks to get kills. You can do some very cool tricks with it though
. I need to sort out my Ice/Ice build like that.
-

got to 41 today and took the pyre epic to be honest its pretty [censored], shall i stick with it or respec in energy for the end red or acc.
I still havent got unstoppable ( i respeced it out with the freebie)and this is going to be a PvE build until 50 is it worth getting again.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't get Energy Epic unless you were planning on doing PVP. Personally I like Ice Epic. Nice spammable immob, a hold and a great single target damage attack. I know a lot of tanks get Pyre epic for the Fireball attack, so if you have trouble keeping aggro, maybe try that.
and yes get unstoppable. It's god mode. -

Then we need one person to sub for mighty.

like I said, i'm up for subbing all next week. -

Thanks for the feedback thus far guys!
Mesmer, if this were to be an ink-only piece, I would have inked all the textures and intricate details in. But since this is a full color piece, the inks are really more like a transition stage, to polish it up so the final version in color will show all the details and bring it all together. To give you guys a better idea of where I plan on taking this piece, the location is a moonlit jungle. So I will have a lot of fun playing with the lighting. Countess Ivy has really fair skin and white hair so I anticipate her jumping right off the page considering the background. The slightly darker grey in the background is going to be the rest of the jungle scene that I will add in color with no hard lines so it wont pull away from the character. I will also add some atmospheric effects to establish depth of field.
[/ QUOTE ]
looking forward to it -
[ QUOTE ]
Now here's the Countess Ivy inks I just finished and updated!
[/ QUOTE ]
Nice tracing there Gill
For some reason I always seem to prefer the sketched version over the inked version of a piece. I guess to me it feels like some of the detail is lost. I remember a Hulk comic drawn by Adam Kubert where he used a digitallly painted sketch for a transformation sequence. It was awesome, it just looked really gritty. -
well, I finally have some time off from work, so I'm available for subbing if needed. I'll bring one of my Blasters(Ice/Ice or Fire/Nrg). Both should be good in PVP.
-
weekends are good for me, as long as it's not too late. Before 8 O'clock please.

Very nice piece Gill.
Your work reminds me a bit of Jim Lee, although to be honest, he hasn't impressed me as much in the last years. Your stuff still seems to be improving with every piece. Can't wait until I can commission something finally.
ps. I don't really like the way Jim Lee draws Superman. Too bulky and mean looking. I prefer a more graceful looking Supes. -

Oh also I bet if it looked like they'd lose they can just disconnect a player

doesn't perma frost make you imune to slow, it's a must have.
[/ QUOTE ]
You already get resistance to slow from both wet ice and energy absorption and with only one of the two I can run trough CoT Quicksands without even noticing.
Permafrost is anything but a must have.
You may want to read this guide to get info from a PvPer that uses this same FotM build.
[/ QUOTE ]
One application of slow resistance is enough for PVE, but I've found that people in PVP try to stack effects. A single application of slow resistance won't help you then. I've found myself slowed on my SR scrapper in PVP, while i've never had that happpen to me in PVE. Having 3 forms of slow resistance in PVP is therefore quite handy. Not many people will be able to stack through that. As an Ice Tank, you should be the one that controls the slowing in a fight, not the other way around.
That is ofcourse assuming that the slow res from Wet Ice, Permafrost and Energy Absorbtion stacks, which I can't confirm at my current level.
