Whats a Good/Fun Blaster for PvE and PvP?
for pvp you really want elec or energy secondary. Primary that's both good in pvp and pve is elec, fire, ice, energy and sonic. The rest aren't so good in pvp. For pve i'd go Fire/elec for good aoe damage and great st damage in melee.
mmm... naaa.. Fire isn't good in PvP at all, but is probably my favourite for PvE.
For PvP you don't want any AE attacks really, as they do hardly anything to other players... against NPCs, however, a few attacks and the mob is down.

*/Devs is pretty cool too, +perc, stealth, bombs... quite well rounded. Also good for getting cocky stalkers: Pretend you're afk with a billion bombs beneath you.
If you wanna take down a Granite, go Elec/Elec.
There is no such thing as a 'Best' PvP build, some are more suited to others.
Probably the most rounded set (for ST and AE attacks) is Energy/Energy imo. Energy primary has some good ST and AE for PvE, and you get the punches for PvP. I think an Energy/Energy blaster is going to be my next project tbh.

why does every constinuously bang on about fire have aoes, fire/ has 1 more aoe than ice/ and considering pvp blasting is mostly about secondary thats not really a problem

Ice outranges fire though. If you don't have boostrange it counts for a lot!

Not really, elec has more smash lethal damage, which is more often resisted, whereas energy has the higher energy damage component. Something like that, can't really remember the numbers.

i think it's acutually the same for both only diffrence is TS does more smashing damage then TF, but elec has shocking grasp which does only energy damage.

Damage is one... but -slow -recharge and its holds are the part where they beat fire. And the minor faster animations (specialy vs flares) makes it overal a bit better.

if theres a kin in the team all that fancy -slow and -rech goes out the window, dont no about any1 else but idd rather have the opponent dead rather than slowed
Fire/Nrg is defenitely awesome. I'd say that it's a bit better suited as a team build compared to Ice/Nrg, which can be extremely powerful as a solo build. Fire has a fantastic Snipe and a great Nuke next to it's regular attack chain, which makes it very versatile and useful for different types of tactics.
Also, I just love jumping into an 8 man invincible spawn solo and just clearing it on my lv 50 Fire/Nrg. Can't do that on an Ice/Nrg, or at least not as quickly.
so i wrote this long reply at work, but then had to kinda delete it. so in brief
fire/ cant solo as well as ice/ but ice/ has nothing on fire/ for larger teams
AR and dev are fun but weak, i cannot reiterate this enough, AR and dev are SUB PAR and WEAK.
/ice lacks the uber dmg although slow is nice, but hard to judge when ur enemies are going to attack as u cant see their recharges
/fire is great dmg, pretty big melee as u would expect but totally useless in most solo ur duel scenarios
energy/ is a KB nightmare for teams imo, not worth the animations for the dmg and has essentially no utility in PvP (KB means nothing vs acro as we well know)
/nrg is great but totally self buff/melee stun orientated, CP is nice in PvE but wont make staminalessness vialble in PvP, the powers also use more end than is reasonable imo (compare to elec).
/elec has the uber dmg, holds, sleeps, stuns, KBs and drains, this set does what the other sets do and is very team friendly with easy to avoid KB and good support.
sonic/ is a great set imo although not awesome at AoE dmg imo it is agreat solo set, the animations and sfx let it down, but my next blaster is/will be sonic/nrg, i'd pick elec elec, but i did that already... 4 times
archery/ is very fun imo, although it doesnt offer much in the way of uberness in either PvP or PvE
imho and imxp elec/elec is the strongest blaster, although it may take a little longer to develop, if you focus on any one aspect you can do your job early on. it has most of the damage of fire but with less chance of dying, is friendly to empaths and kins alike as it is meleecentric and doesnt require kiting, it has sleeps holds KBs stuns drains and more utility than you can shake a stick at and well, tbh i just dont think there is a better choice. i could happily solo lvl 50 invince (actually went invince early on but didnt solo much til late) without hasten or stamina with almost no downtime and i didnt even use pools much (only had tp and presence and it was rare that i used either in PvE).
if you want to see an elec smash things up then give me a shout, i'm always happy to demonstrate why it;s the best all rounder
oh and fun, well for me personally in 2 years i've racked up over 3k hours on elec blasters, so yeah, i think it's fun

wrong (bonesmasher and havoc punch are the same tho hero planner says not)..elec has 1 melee move more (final one forgot the name lol)..but TF is more SINGLE target damage then TS (this is tested)...

Its relies on damage over time a lot..which aint only slower but also a big chance that you don't get it so your attacks will be weaker
One of the main single target damage attacks is a snipe..which can be a pain in fast pvp (even more in pve)
fire breath is more single target damage then fireblast:/..one of the attacks with poo animation..

Positive
SLOWS!!
Very nice damage
Quick animation
Quick recharge
Holds
Low Rooted attacks (tho more then fire)
Cons
Single target attacks can eat some endurance
High smash damage so lots of resist
No snipe against runners/flying enemies/safety
Overal I think ice is a bit better..but fire is a fun set and enjoying both my fire/thermal and fire/nrg
Ignoring all the post's except the OP: Elec/En is REALLY fun.
Primary keeps end up.
Secondary does the damage.
All the blasters i've played so far have been fun and powerful in different ways.
Pick a primary (just not AR ), pick a secondary, go level and enjoy!

/elec blaaaaaatantly outdamages /nrg, lightning field = perma DoT in mobs if you want it, shocking grasp is high DoT and medium (25) end drain over time, afaik the other 3 melees cost less endurance (and have chance to recover end bar TS) and TS is a PBAoE splash damager, so in groups does far more than TF, and it has enough KB to KB a boss with standard resists (not rularuu but will do warhulks) and a chance to stun up to mag 2 (aout 60% i think) and about 60% to KB surrounding foes, so yes, TS does more dmg than TF, although you wont be using this power in a herd centric group.
also clex, if going melee elec is far safer, true that /nrg does good damage, but it offers less control, and no melee blasters need boost range afaik, and PS > CP in both PvE and PvP, although it comes at 35 not 18.. btw /fire gets consume (PS) at 28 iirc.

As stated by someone above /elec essentially just gets 1 extra attack, which is pretty poor damage anyway.
Id personally much rather have /em in PvP purely for power boost and boost range. PvE both are highly effective and I dont think you can dispute which is better of the two as it is all personal preference (or experience as the case usually is).

guess ur right gatling : / but i still have never seen anything stand in the middle of 99% of the mobs in the game and be safe without even having to think too hard (SC+PS), although PB + holds in PvP is nice too i guess. and the 4th elec melee is high dmg med drain, which is something to shout about imo if you are going melee (which most blasters sort of do).

If I was going to make a blaster purely for PvE now it would probably be elec/elec (or maybe fire/elec.. hmmm...).
PvP the benefits of Power Boost are so great(double heal, toHit buff, Def buff, End drain and +spd being the main things for me (also slows and hold duration for ice/anyone with holds, lol), and that it's only down for 7 seconds while you have hasten on, it makes /em the choice, imo.

i dont think shocking grasp is a poor melee attack it has a brawl index of like 5 or so? it's dot but still nice damage, therefor elec outdamages energy melee.
Yea, but it costs around 20 end, and all the damage is DoT (which is good in certain situations, bad in others). Id much rather just use an attack from my primary with similar or better damage but with quarter of the end cost to keep my attack chain going.

so first we've got
Ice
ice bolt brawl index of 2.7778 activation time 1,17 seconds RANGE 80
Ice Blast brawl index of 4,5556 activation time of 1 second RANGE 80
frost breath brawl index of 3,8888 activation time of 2,67 RANGE 40
Bitter ice blast brawl index of 6,3334 activation time of 1,07 seconds RANGE 50
then we've got freeze ray a hold with the activation time of 1 second RANGE 60
Now for FIRE
Flares brawl index of 1,975 activation time of 2,17 seconds
Fire Blast brawl index of 2,7778 + additional dot 0,8334 =3,6112 activation time of 1,2 seconds RANGE 80
Fire Ball brawl index of 2,4 + additional dot of 0,8334=3.334 activation time of 1 second RANGE 80
Fire Breath brawl index of 4,875 activation time of

Ice outdamages fire because, DOT doesn't get effected by aim and build up. and ice outranges fire in bitter ice blast it has 50 range whereas blaze has 20 range. Only attacks i'd pick from ice is bitter ice blast, ice bolt, ice blast and freeze ray. And from fire fire blast, fire ball, blaze, blazing bolt and inferno. The rest have to long animation time and fire ball has a long recharge time. I hope this will make people see that ice isn't close range. the brawlindex of fire might look high but the dot is additional it might happen and it might not it can dot between 0-5 times. keep in mind that the dot's dont get boosted by aim and build up.

Sure it does not have a snipe attack,and its "novaesque" power is terrible..But I enjoy it :P
It does have a great stun power, which is ideal for knockin flying fools out of the sky in pvp
And em rocks.. extra BU power, conserve energy..all good powers
I am planning on making a new Blaster. I want one that is powerful, Good at PvE and Pvp , and Fun to play. Any Suggestions?
