Whats a Good/Fun Blaster for PvE and PvP?
Spine dot doesn't get boosted by enraged and build up. i think it would be too powerful since it can't be resisted. I thought the same applied to fire. Fire just got a bit bitter imop :P.
and fireball if u take it is very nice for taking out the illusion troller who is using sup invis but chooses to have phanto follow him around

And if you want 'burst' damage, unslotted damage at lvl 50 for blaze and blazing bolt are 139.30 and 175.45 repectively. You can do blaze, fire ball and fire blast in the time it takes to do blazing bolt.(total of 3.2 vs bb's 4.67) Which gives a total unslotted burst damage of 275.54.

I don't think you understand the concept of burst damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Please, enlighten me on the meaning of burst then.
[/ QUOTE ]
Doing burst damage should mean doing as much damage as quickly as possible. The animation time of the opening attack is irrelevant, as the important thing is to quickly apply more damage after the initial attack. So saying that a snipe is no good for burst damage is false, seeing that you can easily start of a long range attack chain with a snipe, which applies extreme instant damage, rush in, then follow up with any other attack for the kill.
I've seen Gatling do this plenty of times to great succes. So with your numbers, you could do snipe, rush in, Blaze for over 300+ damage. That's a lot quicker than dropping the 3 power attack chain you mention, especially considering that Blazing Bolt is a bit buggy with applying damage a bit late after being hit. If you're lucky, you can almost instantly hit someone with both Blazing Bolt damage and Blaze damage at the same time.

exactly, if u were fire/energy u wud prob use snipe, blaze, energy melee attacks as an attack chain, the other attacks dont really matter, its all about blaze and blazing bolt for team pvp
But as we are talking ice/nrg or fire/nrg.. does it really mather? seems more that /nrg is key for the final damaging chain in that line.

Thunderstrike is a powerful hit.
Slot it 3dmg, 1 acc, 2 recred, then go nuts on folk!
Slotting for Disorient and KB is something iv contemplated myself, but seeing as though enough of the effects are being stacked, they seem pretty firm out of the box.
And also we'r not looknig to "control" the mobs as much as whack them with a big hurt stick.
Blaster = dmg dmg dmg dmg dmg, anyway, anyhow, anywhere, anytime. Remember that and you'll do fine

Ok, i think i see now ...
[/ QUOTE ]He's not totally wrong...
Powers like TS want to hit hard and often, so ac dmg and recred, personally i go 2 acc 1 recred 3 dmg because i a) PvP and b) fight +2/3s solo so need to the reliability. in the elec set its best to focus on one aspec per power, so dmg for the melees, hold for the holds and drains for the drain, if you take LC go 2 acc 3 recred, if you want the extra KB or stun then slot it, but i wouldnt as the slots are needed elsewhere. with your fire primary you may want some KB and disdur in LC but as i said, i wouldnt. as u are not elec primary it is less of a melee issue, but elec elec and elec in generaly is melee centric due to the PBAoEs, so KB = bad in a lot of circumstances, but not all. hope this helps
if u really wana pwn then go elec elec or elec nrg
Plight
I've got 2 blasters I love and can highly recommend, both work great in PvE. Not sure about PvP because I haven't played them in that yet.
Fire/Eng. Simply awesome damage output, especially in AoE terms, but the big single target close-range attack, Blaze, is also huge, and has a surprisingly fast recharge. The /Eng secondary power Build Up boosts the damage output and Conserve Power lowers the end cost of the attacks (so you can keep pumping out a constant stream of damage, and put 2 recharges in all attacks to make them cycle even faster). The Eng secondary melee attacks also have disorients and toggle drops, which should work well in PvP.
Ice/Ice is like a sort of controllery blaster, which I should imagine would work quite well in PvP. It certainly works well in PvE. Bitter Ice Blast is second only to Blaze in terms of sheer damage output for a single target attack (it has a longer range too). There are 2 holds in Ice/ which stack (Freeze Ray and Bitter Freeze Ray), and /Ice's crowning glory is Ice Patch, which is great in PvE, almost making you a mini controller (at least in small maps with tight corridors).

yeah i know dps meansnothing or else claws would rock :P. fire doesn't have the edge, the dot doesn't get boosted by aim and build up don't forget that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually DoT does get boosted by aim and build up, so I think I will forget that
[/ QUOTE ]
we'll the spine dot doesn't get boosted by aim and build up.
[/ QUOTE ]
that would be impossible as spines doesn't have aim . Not sure how it works with spines though, but I can confirm that it is buffed with Fire attacks on blasters.
