Keep Pyre for Fire Ball - GREAT aggro-catcher.
Unstoppable yes dont expect it to be used as always , but more like OH ·<put in any of the usual reaction> taking way too much damage panic button, or i can tank for 2 min button ,
If you taken Char in Pyre epic , it quite allright its a range hold and a AoE taunt too (all tankers attacks have a aoe taunt effect) , and dont worry once you gotten fireball its like having a mass mass taunt beside good damage.
But energy is always nice too but more dependant on your secondary . focus accuracy while endurance draing is quite good (too bad it got nerfed again)

I wouldn't get Energy Epic unless you were planning on doing PVP. Personally I like Ice Epic. Nice spammable immob, a hold and a great single target damage attack. I know a lot of tanks get Pyre epic for the Fireball attack, so if you have trouble keeping aggro, maybe try that.
and yes get unstoppable. It's god mode.
As said, energy only usefull for going PvP (focused accuracy is your big friend), i went for the earth epic. Ranged hold, immobilize, self-aoe sleep (30 meter!) and a ranged aoe damage/disorient. A bit end-heavy but suits your stone-melee pretty well (if you like to keep your toon RP'ed a bit).
Specialy the aoe sleep works great on inv, since you dont have a damage aura running.

IMO any epic is useful for PVP or PVE i cant see how it matters. The epics are there for you to add to your build something you lack. Focused Accuracy isnt only +per which is helpful in order to tank but is also useful versus -tohit. There are so many secondary effects, ways of slotting and building a tanker it isnt actually easy without the key powers adequately slotted to really go wrong. The playstyle of the tanker to suit the team and the play of the team to suit the tanker is what really matters.
If you only had a trick archer for a defense set in the team you wouldnt play as though you had an empath would you?
What i am saying is you could have a basic build but if you and everyone else in the team plays to suit the type of defender in the team you are still capable of getting through the missions adequately enough.
Even, even level AVs can be tanked on passives that arent worth much with a good defender around. You can also tank and the team can play to not even need you to use most of the epics.
Its always handy imo as something personally favourable to me to have a -fly and a hold. I get them from my secondaries and my attack chain is comfortably there from my secondaries therefore i dont need to get into choosing an epic because it has this or that. Some people who play Firetanks have consume and stamina and yet still get conserve energy. Now they maybe saving on endurance slotting for another type of slotting but depending on their secondary would be whether or not i'd personally rather would of got for example char from pyre mastery because of my playstyle or so that they can solo sappers better rather than "needing" someones help. Only if i was /axe or /fire would i leave energy pool well alone because of my playstyle, as for all the others they can do just fine enough with any epic and a good "enough" gameplan.
People with their builds can cope with different epics in different ways.
I have gone Inv/ss/energy, and my other tanks will finish up ice/ice/ice, fire/fire/fire and stone/stone/stone and i have no doubt they can all get through the same stuff.
(Well okay im a little bit more worried about the firetanker in RV as it lacks def, hp and a panic button).

Well i took focussed acc and laser eyes (basically because they looked cool) and guess what Respeced em all out and went for Pyre anyway...so wasted 2 respecs and ended up where i started [img]/uk/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]
Focussed Acc was too much of an enddrain.
pyre is not too bad the hold is ok and fireball does a little bit of damage and creates aggro (something i didnt have a problem with).
If i manage to get another respec (it will have to be a free one [img]/uk/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img] im not bothering to choose an EPIC, and tell you what cryptic should be done under the trade description act just for calling them that.

Most people take conserve energy first then foc acc. Running foc acc and gaining well from it does take 5-6 slots and despite running it unless my endurance has been sapped i can keep an incredible amount of attack chains going. It will slightly differ for you as your attacks have faster action times so you would drop in endurance quicker, focused accuracy would magnify this. But your damage per endurance point is balanced with other sets so no worries.
Ive had Shannon on test with all the ancilliaries and they had all changed the way i tank but would not of changed how effective my tank can be. I would if i lacked a hold from my secondary would of taken anyone of the other epics. If i lacked a hold and a -fly it would probably of been stone epic.
Laser beam eyes and energy torrent neither fit within my concept for Shannon or serve a necessary purpose in tanking imo but would be okay for conceptual reasons only if i had them.

I respecced into Earth, good holds..did have Ice, good hold and blast Imho
