Quote:You'll excuse me if I laugh at that. Simply for this -I seriously doubt it can be done that easily or quickly.
I'd bet this would be on the level of power customization,
Superjump. Just do it. And activate a power partway through. What happens? Quite often, you'll just shift to the power's beginning stance (or it'll be completely ignored.) Do you really think they had to do a "Mid-superjump stance" for every power in the game that doesn't require you being on the ground? Or really did so for Beast and Ninja Run?
I doubt it's anywhere *near* Power Customization.

Those people we're better/stronger/faster than?

Quote:Well, yeah, if I had to choose between (say) PVP fixes or more base stuff and doing this to Walk, well - duh. OTOH, it could well be that someone takes a quick look at it and says "You know, I can do that in less than a day" and gets the OK to while he'd otherwise be underutilized.I simply remain convinced that the amount of time and effort to "improve" the Walk we have, no matter how much time or effort would actually be involved, is always going to be beyond the Devs' ability to justify it. There are far too many squeakier wheels out there right now to fix and sadly there probably always will be.

No, you didn't. The person whose quote you "fixed" was talking about a min/maxer - who would likely take hover for a place for a global recharge IO.
What needs to be fixed in their statement is that the usefulness is hampered by form changing - it is not significantly hampered, as IOs like that (and set bonuses) persist regardless of form. -

You call it hilarious, once might be amusing, but if they're doing it on a regular basis... starts seeming kind of childish.

Quote:No, that's what you read into it. Which you should have realized was not what I said when I replied "Spare time project" as to why it was not done. You may have not used the word "easy" but you certainly did imply that the amount of work necessary to make Walk acceptable to you was well within the realm of possibility for a "spare time" project.
Quote:I know it that makes it "less than ideal" to some people but unless you're willing to insist the Devs spend more time tinkering on BaB's old pet project it's not going to get any better at this point.
Now, do I think they should divert anyone from I21 or I22? No. Squeezing a little time in on a mid-issue patch or I23 I wouldn't call unrealistic, and I don't, frankly, believe it's this mountain of work to add the functionality. It would likely be much faster than fixing the "follow" AI, which has been broken for how long now, and which has been quoted as a reason for using it. (Seriously, just had a mission yesterday - in sight of the sewer map exit, straight line, not using sprint, not using any sort of stealth, nothing blocking the view and I had to go back three times to get the person I was *rescuing.*) -
Quote:Go OEM, or even upgrade (you *can* use it without an actual copy of Windows-something-else.) $99. Of course, you'll have other hoops, I believe, to jump through to get it to ignore your bootloader (GRUB2 or whatever you're using) and add it to that, but it is cheaper.then there's the money issue, a full version of win7 home premium costs about 240$, my time however, is free
Quote:gaming isn't that hard on linux either, CoX worked beautifully through wine with the old launcher.
some games might even perform better on linux/wine then in a windows enviroment.
Far too much fiddling about to get games to work, IMHO, though. Some played nicely, others... definitely didn't. (Which is still the case, and just not something I have the patience for these days. Everyone's tolerance for what's "just a little tweak" vs "too much mucking about" is at a different point, admittedly.)
Still, even though *I* may find it too much messing around to get something to run doesn't mean I don't appreciate the OP's efforts here (or that I don't support trying to find a more elegant way around it that doesn't require a windows install.) -
And leave the English (as opposed to US English) spelling in. Just to see how many people /bug it. >.>

Quote:This is just from getting newsletters.I thought Aion was the game where accounts got hacked. I don't know if NCSoft thinks I'm an Aion player, or if my PlayNC master account is vulnerable.
Aion was affected by a bug a while back on their forums, though, where people could post something, hit "send," then find themselves in a totally different part of the forums, sometimes under someone else's account. (And they could get the info from it/alter it, if they wanted... and if it didn't kick them back out.) I don't actually recall any problems from this (other than a week, possibly more, of saying "Hey, this would PROBABLY be a good idea to FIX, ya think?") though.
But that's been a good while ago. I'm fairly sure the account issue was GW. -

"Spare time" = "Untested." It was likely the quicker way of doing things. And do point out where I said "Easy."

In other news, the sky is blue, water is wet, and people with hair have more hair than people who don't.

... except you don't have to wait a day to run the morality mission.

I don't believe this for a minute. That it wasn't coded to go into the default stance when attacking, perhaps. But seeing myself pop into a default "I'm aiming" or "I'm turning on a shield" or "I'm using Build Up!" stance while moving, sprinting, using ninja run, using beast run, being in the middle of a jump, being in flight, etc - no, I don't really believe they need to "remake an animation of every power in the game." (Especially because several are supporessed - go ahead, turn on a non-damage aura while running. Notice it doesn't animate.)

Quote:It no longer amazes me about the stupid assumptions people make - like the one quoted above. It always amazes me how resentful people who can't compete get about people who can, in any medium.
There's no resentfulness about saying either SG-wide or the Top-100-SG list's prestige ranking is useless. I *am* in the top Prestige earning on some of the SGs I'm in, especially if you go between my alts in the same SG, and still think it's useless.
The flip side - well, head up to player questions. Someone's looking for a good SG, and they were *assuming* the Top 100 list actually had some relevance to that. Fortunately they seem to have been put straight and pointed in other directions, from individual recommendations to the server section of the boards, to find one that will actually fit them.
Or read some of the comments in this (and the thread linked earlier, which is the same OP with the same suggestion 3 months ago) - boiling down to "My prestige shows how important I am to the SG!" When... it doesn't. For all we know, the people on the list are second, third or later generation, and all the people who founded the SG and *did* do the work to get the base up and running (with all the prestige earned to do so) are gone, and thus don't show. And it certainly doesn't show who's actually active, helping out, knowledgable, etc. versus a farmer who does nothing else with the SG and basically uses it for storage.
It leads to silliness like promotions by prestige (instead of earned trust and ability) and demands to stay in SG mode to get even more, even though there's more banked than will ever be used. (The request is understandable in a new SG with a new base. But that's a 'get off the ground' as opposed to 'ranking on a useless list' request.)
Removing that number (and I generally think that, yes, just showing on/off would be better) would get those groups to perhaps actually *evaluate* the people they've got and work as a group - and get rid of individual "I'm important because of this number" nonsense. -
Lightning Rod + Level 50 ding = nifty look.

Quote:Eh, used to play Aion. Occasionally take advantage of a free weekend. The pet's not that bad for what I suppose is meant to be "undead," - but I wouldn't pay for autolooting for the same reason people ask for filters here. Limited space you don't want filled with vendor trash.Man, are they trying to piss people still playing off? What is probably a really desirable feature, tied to a micro-transaction, and a butt ugly pet to boot? If I were playing I'd give serious thought to quitting just for that one email.
That said, no, last I looked there's no option to choose JUST COH emails. It's either all NCSoft newsletters or none. -

Quote:So if we take the Pages of the Malleus Mundi and combine it with... what, a Freakshow's leg? we can open up the Cow Zone?Ah yes... the Horadric cube suggestion. Been a while since it cropped up.
Go in and pick sides between Statesmoon and Lord Recmoos, fight off the Steakshow cybernetic cows? -
Check tech issues. There's a thread that's nearly a year old (and still being updated) about this. Yes, it is annoying.

No 50 deletions here - around 300-ish characters, nearly 30 at 50, but I've never deleted a 50. (Never needed to, not having tied myself to one server.)
-
I tend to see it fairly regularly (other than the very early levels where it happens rather frequently - IE, start a sewer run with "I'll just pre-gratz everyone now.")

That's one of the billboards from the player created billboard contest. You'll also see them for zombcare, think something like "Cap'n Jack's crab shack" or some such (look in IP,) and a few others.

Not sure why, but tinypic doesn't work for me... well, ever, no matter who uses it. Can't even just bring up tinypic.com.
