  1. Eh. I could see it for hunts, maybe ("Malta sighted 500 yd away!") but for missions in general? No.

    Just imagine:
"Attention all units, robbery in progress... somewhere downtown!"
"Can you give us a more precise address?"
"Nope. I'll let you know when you get close. It's in a building."

It would also be *irritating as hell* on a timed mission. And make no sense for, say, Portal Corp. missions - "Guess which portal!" Or for those nice, fun "Underground" missions, such as in Brickstown. "I should be there."

And don't forget the "Lost beacon" missions - like in Seer Marino's arc, or the (newly broken with AE building placement) ones in Brickstown - hard to tell if it's broken or you're just missing something.

    No, thanks.

Eh, five minutes in a dead zone. Not that bad, and easier than some of the others!

The revised idea (getting, basically, what you'd get for a PPP pet, but temporary and unslottable) works for me.

On the balance, though, the secondaries *do* take advantage of inherent powers. I'll also note that both of those power lists list two things - an AOE damage aura (blazing aura, death shroud) and a rez that affects enemies (Soul transfer, ROTP.) Other rezzes don't affect enemies (/Regen, Willpower.) That may have been a consideration with them. As mentioned, though - quite a heavy list of powers in secondaries that *do* take advantage of the inherent.

EDIT: Note, even pool attacks on corruptors get "Scourge." I happen to be playing my Dark/Therm, used AS on a running Freak and - you guessed it - "Scourge." Shows up as a Critical in the combat log.

However, some of them *do* do damage. (Even if it's minor - I had to double check on Howling Twilgiht. I remember the stun, just not the damage.)

Now, there is some precedent for the inherent affecting the secondary -
    - Tank attacks, after all, fire off Gauntlet, and I *believe* Brute armors with damage components help with Fury build up (might be wrong on that, normally too busy to pay attention.)
    - I'm not sure if Dom secondaries with immobs (say, Psy) currently are affected by Domination, but they certainly were with attacks in the old Dom (damage buff.) (Edit: Fired up my Ice/Psy. Built up domination using my primary. Fired off Subdue (secondary) and did get Domination on the immob, so yes, they are affected.)
    - Controllers should get containment from any held target - including from Rad's choking cloud.

... just off the top of my head. (That's not going into APP/PPPs, even - Stalker snipes, for instance, will crit from hide, but in APP weirdness, Dark Mastery on Defenders keep the Scrapper crit.)

Corruptor secondaries that get scourge if damage is dealt wouldn't be that novel of an idea. And arent' both damage and buff/debuff values generally seen as "low" with corruptors anyway?

Because many of the rest were already dealt with, or are so vague and/or irrelevant as to not really be a point at all? And that "one point" is really two, as it deals with the change itself.
  6. The reply you probably missed in the initial thread - have you downloaded and updated your video drivers? It's not a Windows 7 issue - running it myself. But your description *does* sound a lot like video drivers to me - I had a similar issue with a fresh XP reload before a driver update, as well.

However, the game ITSELF has changed - to the point where the original issues that LED to this hamfisted nerf don't exist any more. It now has a (5 target!) cap, and caps were introduced to most other power classes (including taunt.) We have ED. We can't have the insane stacking that we used to (excuse me while I herd Perez into this dumpster.)

Plus, of course, "for years" the game had what was in essence a maintenance crew - 15 people to do everything. So many things remained unchanged "for years" - some mentioned in this very thread (healing flames, temperature protection.) Many things that have been unchanged "for years" are getting looked at *because they can now,* from powers to entire ATs (see also Dom buff.) Effort is being focused on GR, of course, ATM - but don't think they don't have a laundry list of other things to address.

"This power has been like this for years" isn't really a strong point to make in its favor. If anything, given the major game changes SINCE this change was made, it's more of a reason to revisit it.

Related: It's five years plus into the game. There are literally millions of characters created. If they suddenly had (say) Tech get a weakness to electrical and some rad powers, you would in essence be punishing people who created these with no indication this was ever going to happen - for choices they made years ago when they meant nothing.

  9. And this, I think, gets the last 50 I haven't had a piece of artwork of - Caduccia, my Ice/Emp, by Playworkart. Of course, I've got several in the 40s now - think I have pieces of most of them though. >.<

(As a followup to something else - Miserie finally finished the pieced I ordered, oh, a year and a half ago. Not exactly worth the wait, not linking since I really don't want to give her publicitiy, just glad it's finally *done.*)

How many KB powers work against THEMSELVES? You seem to have a horrid time trying to grasp this concept, apparently. An Energy Blaster (for instance) whose powers do knockback don't prevent that same power from doing ALL its damage or keep the blaster from doing their job. They don't need to hope someone else on the team is a certain AT to let the power "finish" working.

Also a long long time ago FA was a different beast. Its been changed since then. Healing flames was buffed as well as temp protection. Its lack of damage output from the nerf was made up for by the buffs to these powers. Yeah it isn't enough, but its other aspects of the set that the devs need to focus on, not burn IMO.
Look up the answers for these - I do already know the answers, this is not an "I need the information" set of questions.

When and why was Burn changed?

Is the issue that led to Burn being changed (being given the fear/scatter effect) an issue any more? Followup: Is that issue because of burn being changed, rather hamfistedly I might add, or because the rest of the game changed?

    Quote:
Now its lousy stalkers and pvp isn't worthwhile?
Yeah, obvioustly it's so "not worthwhile" that I try to get more people into it... wait, that makes as much sense as "Here's a power that works against itself!" I can, however, honestly say there's little interest in it. Never has been. I can wander in the zones for a long time without seeing another person - of *either* faction - and when I do see them, they usually want to do their own thing, not PVP. And Arena activity? What arena activity?

Like I said before, I'm glad you have your opinion, but I like PvP even though its a shell of its former self.
I wouldn't be trying to get people into it if I didn't. Did you LOOK at what I mentioned? Obviously not. Did you even read what you quoted, in full? The "And that's from someone who tries to get others into it" bit?

I can see why you would think its moot from your view on PvP (as well as most of the people that play this game) but I don't.
Your reading comprehension is awful if you think my "view on PVP" is negative (with anything but population.) Just like a power that works against itself!

Again, not everybody carries a pocket controller around. Footstop, fault, and ice patch are also not immobilized, btw. I am not "ignoring the fact a lot of people like to team," sparky, YOU seem to be ignoring that you cannot guarantee somoene will have an immobilize, or use it in a way that actually helps you.

I wont argue that cj is better, but not everyone wants to loose a power pool choice just for cj.
Most people will try to pick up a travel power anyway, and many times a Fire (and Dark) tank will see "Hmm, acrobatics - KB protection without hoping for an IO!" - Acro's been a part of Fire tank builds for a long, long time.

And what power can potentially be picked to open up that very pool? Hmm... look at that.

    Quote:
You must not "lol pvp" much. Burn is extremely useful against stalkers. As far as AoE defense, the AoE damage from burn ticks so often that it'll rip through elude like it wasn't there.
Against lousy stalkers, perhaps. Then again, PVP is so dead in this game the point, quite frankly, is moot - and that's coming from someone who tries to encourage others to get into it. (See also intro guide in sig.)
  13. "What does the power need to work better for you? Slot for that." It's not a hard concept, and one that everyone has to start with. Do you run out of END fast? Put in an END reduction. Could it hit harder? Slot damage. Could it hit more often? Slot accuracy. The power even TELLS you what it can use.

Now, if there's an option - say, in the university - for a "tutorial on effective slotting," hey, sure, why not. But I don't see the need for a "standard build" handed out.

  16. Yes, if you *just* let all the enemies defeat each other, you won't get XP. You'll also be bored out of your skull.

However, used as part of an overall attack chain - you'll be going through mobs quite quickly and safely. (F'rinstance, my Plant/Thorn levelled for a bit just attacking the Ghost of Scrapyard's followers. Nice big mobs to confuse, immobilize, and AOE upon.)
  17. Having something licensed, maybe. (such as picking the existing looping tracks.) That I could see working. Just an MP3 distribution? Ugh. So many potential issues, fees, etc. it's just not worth it.

Not farming and/or playing the market.

The same reason that if I combined all the INF on all my characters, both accounts (side-exclusive, of course,) I doubt I'd hit that - even after a few purples.

Skip the no red/blue trading so one character could have all the inf of all my characters? Maybe one would be near. Maybe.

Natural - Peacebringers. Any Peacebringer is going to have access to the same powers. They are natural to a Kheldian combining - per game lore.

Or some of my own -

Spine/Inv scrapper. Alien, natural. Everyone from his race can extend toxic spines. They evolved that way. Their natural toughness and reflexes develop to varying degrees (his nemesis, and the person who betrayed him and led to his exile here, is Spine/Regen. Also natural.) Why would they need an "Alien" origin when Natural fits perfectly well?

Visitor with advanced, alien tech (armor, etc.) - is obviously "Technology." Why would they need to be "Alien" as opposed to "Technology?"

Mutant - After investigating his progressing sickness, the doctors of his world found their own atmosphere poisoning the character. An atmosphere more rich in oxygen and nitrogen would let him live. Fortunately, in their explorations, they ran across a planet that would be just the thing - Earth. What they didn't expect was that this atmosphere, combined with his body chemistry, would give him amazing strength and stamina.. So why should this be "Alien" instead of "Mutant?"

Simply put, there's no reason for an "Alien" origin. The stories fit into the current origin perfectly well. Nothing about "Natural," for instance, specifies "Earth bound."

  25. Just going to say "I agree" with most of what people have said in response already. If your friend is trying to "gimp" you with having no travel power, she's failed utterly, especially after having so many temp travel powers added and easy-to-get in the game.

If anything, she's made things easier for you. Stalker builds are sometimes (often?) described as "tight" and/or "unforgiving" - especially early on if you're trying to get both fitness and travel prereqs in. She's just given you two free pre-20 (pre-15 even) power picks.

Edit: Had to add - the whole "have someone else pick your AT/Powers" bit can actually be rather fun. A group of friends and I did just that, making an alt SG on a secondary server. We dont' play them as much as we'd like - working on several mains ATM - but several of us are quite far along. (The Corr I was given - fire/kin, so I'm not exactly hurting - is 40.)
