Allow mp3 soundtracks in Mission Architect?
Having something licensed, maybe. (such as picking the existing looping tracks.) That I could see working. Just an MP3 distribution? Ugh. So many potential issues, fees, etc. it's just not worth it.
We need ambient zone music, first. Not some piddly little clip that fades out after a few seconds. There is some really GOOD music in the game, they just don't do it justice...

Hey I would love the idea to import music in, but unfortunatly so would the trial lawyers. I'd think Cox would stay away from it just to make sure they wouldn't get sued.

Why? There's already third-party programs that allow you to replace the game music with your own.

Because there's a difference between music that you only hear client side and music that is stored server side. I took the suggestion to mean the OP wants customizable music in MA missions.

And while I do like the idea, I'm not sure how feasible it is. Most music you hear in maps at the moment are handled through a hidden object that produces a sound effect. Maybe categorize the sound nodes and let you spawn them at any given objective point? It would let you build a soundscape, which would be awesome. (And yes, stock it with all of the pre-existing CoX music. There's a ton of it hiding in the PIGG files. >.>)

I was more referring to importing MP3 music or the like from artist. Now if we could use the pre-existing music, heck yeah.

That, and it would make the word filter totally pointless. You cant check sound for offensive content easily.

Choosing from a set of dev-provided ambient sounds though? That'd be cool.
Frankly I am an old fogey and haven't gotten into downloading music or using an mp3 player. But I know I'm in the minority.
Would it be technically possible to have players select their own music tracks and play them in MA missions they build?
I assume there's also the legal question of music rights, which may well outweigh technical considerations. But stores supposedly pay the music licensing companies some kind of fee or rate for playing music in the stores; maybe something like this is possible if a payment scheme can be worked out.
Failing that, a selection of COH/V-provided music that IS legally allowed would at least allow for some customization.
