COV side, it isn't the "summoning" that makes or breaks it.

Scrapyard? He's out so much it's ridiculous. It's harder to find a time he's NOT out. And then he walks into the kill field by the BM truck (which is especially irritating when you DO have a team chasing him.)

Deathsurge? OK. I haven't fought him recently, but he and Scrapyard both historically ran so badly it was ridiculous. Do damage, he runs, jumps to the top of a building, down, runs off the other side, by the time everyone's caught up he's healed again. He was just irritating.

I've seen Caleb once - and being out in the middle of nowhere, and flying (does he ever come down low enough for non-fliers to do anything?) he just seems irritating.

I do agree that having some of them out in the middle of nowhere doesn't help. Lusca, people see - she's got four (?) spawn points, so people doing a cape mission or any IP mission will probably run across her. Adamastor? (Psst, devs, Dark Astoria content please!) Jurassik lost some visibility - used to be that to get to the Rikti Crash Site (now war zone,) if for whatever reason you actually *wanted* to go there - you had to go all the way through Crey's Folly, so he'd be spotted, called out and attacked. Then the devs put a portal in Peregrine Island, by the helipad (back and to the right, between the two Portal Corps buildings as you're looking at them) and nobody had a reason to go through CF. Of course, then they redid it all, closed that entrance entirely and make you go through the Vanguard portals - easier to get to the RWZ, sure, but nobody sees Jurrasik's Buick-on-a-stick any more.

(Edit: New thread, "What about Crey's Folly?" posted in regards to this.)

Eh. I want to know more detail on what's showing up as "deleted scenes" and the like. Of course, if I buy it, I'll have to buy a blu-ray player as well.

I don't want to think about how many editions I've bought. >.< Unfortunately, some have gone missing over the years (including the VHS set with "from star wars to jedi" included.) Though I still have the THX edition with THreepio's dialog missing. I find it far too amusing - everyone standing in the Death Star just sort of looking at each other as the voiceover doesn't play....

  4. Not so big on the alignment merits.

A small tweak (I think 5's actually too big *in most cases*) to merits wouldn't be bad, but they really don't take much effort. I hopped on a PUG at one point that took down four of them in about 15 minutes. (Wasn't even a full team, as I recall.) Jurassik, Eochai, Jack in Irons (Eo twice, actually, once solo and once at "the war,") and one other. (Might have been a Babbage team.) I wouldn't nudge them over 3. They just go down too fast.

The rare recipe drop could help. (Let them drop purples for the 47-50s as well.)

I tend to agree with the specifics for these GMs you brought out, as well.

4: Change a few things with them...
4.1With Paladin, have him award a badge when he's defeated. Not just with the stopping of his construction. Call it "2nd time's a charm" with the text reading "Well you weren't able to stop this monster from being created, but you were determined and put a stop his terror."

4.2With Paladin's construction event, add the merit rewards for completing this event. You stopped the Clockworks from creating it, and that should merit a proper reward(Pun intended)

4.3With Lusca, I would say increase the merit award to 8, though I doubt this would happen. Since you have to take down the tentacles before being able to attack the head, Lusca is a bit of a pain. I wouldn't go so far as to say, the merit increase of 5, per tentacle + the head, as that would be far more reward vs risk, but the standard merit reward for this non-standard GM doesn't seem right.

4.4Have Boomtown Babbage, and Synapse TF Babbage award different badges. Boomtown Babbage gets no play, because Boomtown is very rarely visited. If they awarded different badges, then there would be reason for both of them to be taken down. Synapse TF Babbage, because he's in a populated zone, and is attacking the people trying to stop his boss The Clockwork King.
8 might be a bit high for lusca, but it is a guaranteed time sink as she submerges and comes back up. Similarly, a (low) merit reward for the construction makes sense - it doesn't matter if you're trying to solo it or have multiple full teams there, the construction's going to take X amount of time.

Swimming with swine is heavily discouraged.

Letting someone who can't otherwise update copy the files is not.

    Big difference.
  6. Nope.
Moving at least a Dom off of Freedom. Possibly my corr as well, but I might leave that one on as just a token "if a friend happens to be playing there" character. Not sure if I'll move stuff off heroside or not. I greatly dislike playing on Freedom, so I tend to remove characters from there.

Virtue's probably staying just as it is.

My question is: Does the name search "see" the period in my character's name? If it doesn't, maybe my character already IS the name that;s "already taken". I have tried many, many times to contact the holder of my character's name, but as far as I can tell, their account has been inactive for years.

Any ideas on how I can get the name for my (consistently active) character?
When you search for a name, it matches the string exactly. If you searched on Memphis, it wouldn't show up as active just because I have "Memphis Bill" taken.

    As far as the character?
    1. Add it to your friends list. Watch for a bit.
    2. /getglobalname character, I *believe,* will get the global - if it doesn't have one, wow, that's been inactive for a long, long time.

Either way, send an email to the result (maybe the person has the character but decided to play on another server) and ask if they'd be willing to free up the character name for you.
  11. *looks at maintenance announcement*

So, NCSoft, maintainer of servers.... are you ready for Issue 18?
  12. Books. No, not a student. Replacing my MiG-21 developmental history would run about $80, then buy a decent hardcover on sale, probably have a buck or two left over. Or be boring and throw it at my credit card.

(And can we bug someone for alternate sounds on Sonic Blast? Odd enough on male characters, absolutely jarring on female. And they don't sound particularly consistent - it's a mish mash of sounds.)

Proton Volley. Most of the snipes look ok (IMHO) coming from a single arm - I'd love to see a dual-arm "fork" for these giant volleyballs of doom to come out of.

Er.... can't break something that doesn't currently exist. Just sayin'.

(Also, I don't tend to have much trouble figuring out what they're saying, though it helps to see them in context.I do like that they worked out the dialog for them.)
  15. I almost feel compelled to work out a contrasting Peacebringer guide. Just reading through again (yes, a repeat read!) and thinking of my various PBs brings out the contrast in attitude (at least for me personally) when approaching a Peacebringer.

For instance, here we happily sacrifice humanform blasts, especially early, to pump up the slotting for Nova and Dwarf, with an eye toward control and self buffing - locking the forms (including human) together to take advantage of each other.

Personally, for me, when it comes to a Peacebringer, slotting those human powers becomes far more important - and not just the attacks. It almost makes it seem bi-forming lends itself better to a peacebringer. A PB loves melee, so you *want* to slot those attacks... and along with them, shields, and all that suggests you look at Stamina (as PBs have no Stygian.) I keep saying a Peacebringer's more self contained and more independent - it doesn't need enemies, all the buffs are steady buffs, etc, and that does tend to reflect itself in the forms, as well. Nova is the same, regardless, but without the backup of the fluffies (and I don't think anyone will really say Seekers are the equivalent.) Dwarf can use the buffs from human, but it doesn't give anything back but mez protection from being in form (and a second self heal.)

There's also the fact that, human-side, we can't separate a crowd. We have no TP Foe - so if you're attacking in human, you're wading into melee no matter *what's* in there and, again, will probably put an eye towards those shields and possibly stealth.

... May have to write up a post to have the community hash it out over in the Kheld forums. This reply's already longer than intended.
  16. sure, toss 'em in, I'm good with it.
  17. Not only is that a severely gimped "travel power" with the limitations you put in, but there are side issues you don't seem to have touched.

    - Zone travel. You're flying a helicopter *into* a ferry or train?
    - The maps don't currently mark you as being "indoors" or "outdoors." For this exceptionally limited travel power, you now have the devs reworking each and every map in the game. (You can't just call "indoors" "In an instance," as not all instances are in office buildings or caves.)
    - You say the cars/motorcycles "just" don't work on water. I can't think of a single power that does anything different in water. (Note I don't mean "animates differently," which is a completely different department.)
    - You don't touch on powers. With superspeed, superjump, and flight (to a lesser degree, just because of how it "travels," with teleport) I can attack on the way. What about with these various vehicles?
    - Motorcycles. I don't think you're realizing how big an investment of time these things would be, even without being customized. (I want to say we have a dev quote going over it, but as I'm posting now purely due to lack of sleep which I will shortly attempt to rectify, someone else can track it down.)

I'd love to see sets expanded "past six" to give some variety. Running Touch of Death but want more acc? Track down another Acc or /Acc piece instead of something else. It would, perhaps, also make the full set bonuses more accessible (can't get piece X on the market for that bonus? Look for Piece Y.) And it'd mix up the sets a little.

(Honestly, sets like Calibrated Accuracy... other than frankenslotting, why bother? Acc higher than ED limits, and everything else pretty wimpy? Really?)

While we're on set adjustments - can we add something useful to the points that have "Debt reduction" bonuses? (Note the "Add" not "replace," though I've not heard of anyone actually slotting for debt reduction.) Given the debt smoothing, debt reduction, cut debt, patrol XP, etc, "Debt reduction" bonuses might as well be "make costume more pink" for the good they do.
  19. Quite honestly, given how many more powers we have as a triform versus a standard AT, I wouldn't argue if they had Nova and Dwarf powers come double-slotted on grant. Not sure it's actually doable, but it'd make me happy at least.

So the argument that a person's reputation is tied to their uniqueness in holding a name is weaker.
When we have a population in the billions in-game, they can rethink it.

Whew. I can disagree with EG again! Eiko should be posting about vet rewards in the next week, then, and all will be right with the world.

However, Forbin already made the point... so I'll just say "Hey, look, it's the Batmen. With the Boy Wonder Chorus!" Simply because it's an amusing visual to me after far too little sleep.
  23. Alienware's only a brand. Running Windows. Which means it should work. (IN fact, come GR, it'll use the AlienFX color changing setup.)

Make sure you're not using some skinning setup (which might come with it) such as Windowblinds.
  24. Have a good break.

You'll be back. They always come back.

    Muahahaha... >.>
  25. IIRC, given it needs a code, probably the same one you can buy for $5 (or $6) in the NCSoft store. 30 day.
