  1. Funny, I find it quite useful to knock things away from me, into the various patches I put down, etc. It's hardly "useless." I actually end up skipping O2 boost more often than not. Gale's useful to me both solo *and* teamed.

Edit: And Earth/Storm - how are you *not* using gale? Shoving things back into Quicksand, Earthquake and Volcanic Gasses would seem ideal. Not to mention bunching them against walls/etc *before* using those. Shove them together with Gale - VG - Stone Cages (containment damage there) - Stalagmites (more containment damage) and you're good to go. You can get quite a bit of use out of it even before you get Hurricane (20 on a controller.)

Gale and Hurricane can work perfectly well together, too - Hurricane if you've Stone Caged things that are too spread out (Immobs don't generally resist Repel, which is what Hurricane does) and Gale if you just want to push something back *without* disturbing the immob'd mobs positioning.

    Anti-stealth-editing.

Edit: TBH, there's also (on occasion) just wanting to be able to reference what's being said, in case other replies come in at the same time. It'd be... odd... with a question like this, but if someone's asking multiple things, yeah, I'll likely quote the post and either reply in-line or in order.

  6. /disagree with the exclusivity.

Also, cottage rule for conserve power - I happen to use it for what it's designed for. If you want to *add* functionality, sure, but powers will retain their basic use. Conserve Power's use is a temporary END discount.

Plus you've forgotten that Energy Drain was given +health fairly recently, and dropped that from the power.

(Yes, I am talking about the brute version. First villain 50 = En/En brute.)

    Teleport Beacons

And yes, that means if you have the badges for exploring, but weren't in SG mode at the time (or have changed/created a SG since,) you'll need to re-explore while in SG mode.

Unless you have the single-bay teleport room (holds only one teleporter.) You can only place one beacon there.
  8. Few others, now that I'm not at work - mostly inside the crowd, with one earlier as the gathering was getting started.

He said they'd *like* to. No backpedaling there. And it's quite in line with a reply I'd gotten from Jay a bit over a year ago now, where - while he'd like to - they were keeping him too busy on new stuff.

Plus some of the points brought up in the thread talking about it, how people would like to keep the *old* stuff as is - there's a lot of work involved, I'd imagine, from art, UI, reworking the menus again (and all the pieces that would break,) etc.

    /this.

Honestly, if someone wanted a "natural" human character - even a "fit, natural human character?" They're in the wrong game if they think Fitness is "too much" or "immersion breaking."

A "Fit, natural human" character - let's even be kind and give them some kevlar - isn't going to make it to level 2 without exceptionally careful, slow playing. Sprint's endurance cost would have to be increased - no travel powers, after all. Fighting Hellions? They've got bats and pistols. That bulletproof armor is *still* going to make every shot that hits hurt. And it won't protect against a broken arm from that baseball bat, or a concussion. Regeneration rate would have to be slowed incredibly. Level 3 will be an accomplishment. Meet someone throwing a molotov - or get frozen in a block of ice? Character sits in the hospital for a few weeks....

And if you're (generic you) reading this and going "But they have a chemical to do xyz" so you can handwave away why you're keeping up with the mutant superspeeder, alien, robot portable battlefield assault system, etc... then why would that person be griping about *fitness?*
  11. Was going to post the (long!) whois from who was there at one point... but there's that whole forum rule bit about other players. >.< Let's just leave it at "lots."

The reason the crafted IO sells for 80 mill? There's a bid sitting there for 80 mill. I've sold IOs for 100+ mill... I list them at, say, 10k.

Now, yeah, sometimes the *listed* price is pretty high, but for some items (those specific IOs) - you're going to get a good chunk of change, most times, even listing at 1 inf.

Pfft. Like they'll ever actually DO it. Easier to just post every doubleXP/event/reactivation weekend that they demand the twenty five cents back they insist they paid to play this particular hour.
  14. Nope. I have two. I know others that have 3-4. There IS a limit of the number that can use any single credit card, though. (Have a friend with multiples, she runs into tha issue when she renews her little sister's account.)

So roll one, get some friends (you do have some, right?) band together and team for 1 hour a week. It doesnt' take long, and it gives you alternate characters if your server has issues.

If you don't *want* to take steps to be able to play, don't *****.

These are just a few examples. I have no doubt that there are many more reasons out there.
4's the biggest for me. I *do* work in the evenings. There are times I'm exceptionally busy - and other times I just have to run a few processes remotely and have absolutely nothing else to do, so I'll hop on COH. Which means I'll be playing, find a safe spot I've cleared and be AFK for 20 minutes, then pick back up again.

I've got a few other friends with kids (from 1-16 years old) to take care of. They'll go AFK - I'll team with them, since we all know there can be sudden AFKs and don't mind downtime during a mission - we're there to be sociable, not get ZOMGMaxDPSINF/Secdropsrunrunrun.
  17. I have an idea - Rename this board to "THIS IS NOT &$^%&*# SUGGESTIONS!"

And no. Aside from the *technical* reasons for the INF cap being where it is, so few players hit it there's no real reason to.

    .
No billion inf builds here. Most of the people I team with regularly don't have them - they might do so to *a* character for the heck of it. Checking on most pugs, there aren't long lists of set bonuses.

So, no, there's not going to be anything "less desirable" except to those anal few who MUST have powerset XYZ or "the game is RUINED!" Everyone else will team with whoever's available and go on having fun.

Thus the earlier statement, those people who find powerset/AT whatever "undesirable" are idiots.

    .... overused?

Are we playing the same game?

Statesman (or rather the search for him) is the focus of one 45-50 arc, heroside, and one task force. Villainside, you see him at the end of the VEAT arc and (IIRC) LRSF. (I don't *believe* he's in the Ouro TF, but I haven't run that in a bit.) You go through most of your heroic career without a peep from him. Nemesis is used more than he is. Positron is used more than he is. Hell, *Fusionette* is used more than he is.

How do you justify calling him "overused?"

It's time for a changing of the guard.
And having the "surviving 8" as trainers pretty well shows they're handing off the majority of those duties to the new heroes.

Plus, seeing as how the Devs try so hard to force teaming in this game,
.... you're definitely not playing the same game. There is almost *nothing* in this game that forces teaming. I know you're haring off on your "let me solo TFs" kick, but saying the devs are "trying so hard to force teaming" is patently untrue. There are a *very few* times, in ALL the content of the game, that teaming is forced - namely, task forces, strike forces, and the *exceptionally* rare multi-glowie missions. You can solo the vast majority of content in this game with any AT.

Saying we're forced to team is like saying people buying cars are forced to buy Ferraris. I can point at millions of Fords, Chevys, Kias, Toyotas and more that say otherwise.

it's amazing that Stateman and Recluse are pretty much the singular focus of eacdh alignment.
Villainside, yes, with Recluse's "destined one" schtik you're railroaded through. An alternate path (and ending) would be nice there - and we're allowed to start avoiding it now with being able to pick APPs instead of PPPs. Heroside, no. Statesman is not anywhere near a focus in the same way - or anything close. Statesman, for most of the blueside game, is background lore. So essentially, as far as he's concerned, you already have what you're asking for.

I'm sorry, that would be overpowered.

  21. Memphis_Bill

    Kidnap Missions

If it were possible to have them "follow" in front of you... but who knows where they'd run off to.
  22. There's no reason to "kill off" Statesman. "It was Jack's character and he's not with the company now" ... well, so what? If you went into game and mentioned his name, you'd probably get a lot of "Who?" (or "who lol") replies.

And if we're removing no-longer-PS employees, we'll also have to remove Recluse, as Zeb no longer works at PS, either - having left before there *was* a Paragon Studios. We'll also probably have to remove Sunstorm (the Peacebringer contact) - nobody's heard from that dev in a long time. I'm sure there are others, as well.

In short, Statesman is Statesman. Not Jack. The guard, in game, HAS been changed - thus the signature heroes mostly standing around training everyone else. There's no reason other than personal beefs against Mr. Cryptic to "kill off" the character. And "showing they've moved on?" They've been separate long enough. Many things that weren't "doable" before are being done. That's "symbol" enough for me.

(And Nemesis... underused? You're kidding, right?)
  23. Memphis_Bill

    Kidnap Missions

There's nothing that will let you "bind" - much less "carry" another PC or NPC. It's one of the engine limitations that also prevents a "Grappling" type powerset.

And no, kidnaps don't make me worry particularly.
