So, why should it be worse again? "Oh no, they can build a nice big fancy base that has absolutely no effect on me since I'm not in their group!" isn't much of an argument against creating a more reasonable rate, and base raids are disabled - and would require the devs to actually fix PVP, which will happen about the same time we investigate, oh, Hoag's Object for colonization.
  2. 1:1 won't happen, but the ratio should definitely be changed. For an inf sink to be effective, it has to be attractive. 1:500 (think that's what it works out to now) is not attractive, it's punitive and pointless.

Going to tackle this and some of what Oz said.

I've run Keyes once, as a preface. For me, it can be summed up as two things:

    1. Chaotic.

    2. Gimmick collection.

For chaotic, well - compared to the other trials, it felt far less organized and organize-able. Lambda? Outer ring, turrets, inner ring, guard, get your assignment, get stuff, beat on Marauder. BAF? Rather easy to define stages and locations. Now, yeah, Keys has reactors... and, bunkers... and a yard... but it doesn't feel as stage-able to me. It's less well defined.

For gimmick collection? OK. First reactor, we start out pretty standard, clearing NPCS and grabbing crates to throw batteries at terminals. We have a fairly sensible (to me) progression from there - "Hey, they're taking those, keep them from them! Move them with the goliaths!" OK, it kind of makes sense. And then.. um... we break into bunkers. Because, for some reason, the goliaths can't be used any more? And the crates are no good? Oh, and "I"M BEING SUBTLE, MAYBE YOU WANT A STALKER TO SNEAK INTO THE BUNKER, NUDGE NUDGE WINK WINK PITY AT SELECTION!" ... ugh.

It just didn't feel as cohesive to me - and I can see it triggering what Oz mentioned.

All of that said as opinion and feel - I'd suggest he try it in a month, when maybe someone HAS managed to force some organization on that - and when he's not also dealing with time constraints to see a sick friend (extra stress.)

    Oh dear god no.

I do NOT want my abilities, stats, etc. tied to what costume I use. It's one of the reasons I've kept playing this game for as long as I have - I can look *how* I want, without being any less effective (or have to give up a look I started with and REALLY like because my Noobly Sword of Wet Paper has to be upgraded so I can do more than tickle a level 20 minion... even though I like my Noobly Sword f Wet Paper and it fits my character.) Or have to look like every OTHER <insert at/powerset here> because the GEAR DEMANDS IT!

Tie your customization to your IOs or one of your dual (or, once Incarnate-dom is unlocked, triple) builds. NOT to costume pieces.

  6. I can see it now.
Somehow the devs, after having something heavy hit all of them in their heads, implement this.

Within the hour, we start getting "I turned down/off my Energy Blast/Assault's Knockback, and now I'm nothing but a subpar-damage blaster/defender/etc! Buff us!"

I'll agree with "You can now recolor your powers. If you don't like knockback, reroll."

  8. Yeah, read it. I'll believe some of it once it's developed further, specifically in scaling and reliability, since a chunk of that sounds like heavy marketing. Still, even if it doesn't manage to scale much past where it *sounds* like it is now, sure, it could be very useful, and the military's always looking into new tech. And if it actually pulls off all of what it's promising as it scales... awesome.

I'll give you one big safety question while you're drinking the koolaid on this though. Existing rotorcraft can autorotate if the engine dies. What does this do besides fall? If they stay with remotes, it's not a big deal. If they get into manned applications, that's got to be addressed.
  9. While the impact rather dies off after a while...

Revenant Hero. Not just for "Heroes have gone missing," but the implication "They've been killed for this" and "They really ARE doing this?!" (Which partially led to my own bit of a riff mixing it and Hero Corps history, "Hero Corpse" over in AE.... another I have to revisit and polish up with what AE can do now.)

I think Peter Themari gets mentioned, as does Bocor, for good reason... and Westin Phipps. Just the twisted *crap* they pull (and don't forget, later, with Vernon von Grunn - who I usually really like - going after Pyriss and finally killing her.)

    Yes, Jenny Adair's arc.

While not *an arc,* one of Unai's missions that sends you against Nemesis... where his automatons have been set to make the world a graveyard that doesn't survive his death.

    emp useful?

    QR: No.

And the hospital being in the zone does not make the rez useless... unless you LIKE standing around for 20 seconds.
  11. No change - I was playing mine anyway.

If anything, it makes my bots/FF mastermind - who already feels like "Why am I here?" in missions, since he has so little to do - feel even more like a spectator because I have even LESS to do.
  12. Mission/TF wise:

There are some arcs I enjoy just because they're interesting arcs (the Freakylimpics, for instance.)
The Eden trial, while not much thought has to go into it, generally has enough going with the unique setting (and how rarely I run it) for me to enjoy it.
And some arcs that have a specific challenge - I'll tend to try to run Croatoa JUST to see how few fir Bolg escape, for instance (I have had zero escapes a couple of times) and, with some powersets, to see how cheaply I can "win" the final mission (Grav/Kin - just keep Wormhole-ing a LT and chucking him across a map, or my Fire/Storm which just hurricaned stuff into a corner for a while.)

    Non mission/TF wise:
The character creator. Nearly 300 alts. yeah, the character creator.

RP. Not ((Virtue-like)) or ((particularly strict,)) It tends to weave in and out of character, wander over to writing with friends, etc
    .
Personal "goals" - I had "One of each AT to 50" before, I'm one control set away from "One of each control set to 50" (and that one has a ways to go - level 24,) and I've got most MM primary powersets "complete" (32) though not to 50. And a few personal character goals that have nothing to do with the "X type of power to completion/50" - like getting alternate versions of one of my characters finished.

I'll give it "slightly different," but it's mostly in the way the blades are attached. (IE, instead of spinning from one end, they're inside a cylinder.) I can't think of another right offhand that has that arrangement... I'm fairly certain I've seen it in another application, though. Just can't think of what it is.

Having us sneak in on a mini attempted rescue of brainwashed prisoners or disabling horrifying weaponry intended for use in Cole's war could tighten things up nicely story wise.
Yeah, that's part of the other reason for the suggestion, really. The trials feel like... well, DOOM. (Not to be confused with DOoooooooooooooooommmmmmmm, I do mean the game specifically.) You know. "Um, you're a space marine. it's mars. Here's a gun. Shoot whatever isn't you."

If we're going to have these things... flesh 'em out some. if not in the trial itself, in some surrounding missions.

This needs fixing (for Gravity in general) before anything else, IMHO. It doesn't matter *what* I'm throwing at it if my target is dead (of teammates or old age) before it's "thrown" at them.

I don't know about that. Just the script as is, saying "This name is available," is (IMHO) fine. The trials don't take up global names any more, after all (unless you REALLY want 23g 8by [TRIAL] as a global.)

I *suspect* that actual character deletion might cause issues. But obviously can't say for sure.
  17. Well, that is part of why I mentioned "future trials." That said, even if it's just having those effects "in story" as opposed to actually having them, it'd be something to run through when there aren't enough people to form a trial (or you just missed it.)

(And I do want non-trial content, yes - I still think taking Incarnate vs Ruularu would be good for a whole other Incarnate storyline. But I figured tying these in, well... consistent theme, same assets, etc.)
  18. Yes, this ties into "solo/small team incarnate content," but hear it out.

"Solo" path (independant) Incarnate stuff aside, there are times I've seen 1-2 trials go out... and 2-3 people left over because there was no team with room (or they just showed up too late.) What do they get to do? Stand around for a while.

Why not "help out" with a surgical strike? A fast 1-2 mission "arc" that becomes available that's related to whatever raids are underway. (Why 1-2 missions? Because trials take, what, 20-30 minutes now, and they should be able to join the next run.)

What sort of things would this team do? Well, they could be integrated better into future trials, of course... but what if they interrupt WarWorks delivery, changing the composition of the spawns that show up in the mission? Or have to fight through (or, hey, stealth... if they can) to reroute *more* supplies to Lambda? Or temporarily blind the Seers, forcing them to relocate and diverting more normal Praetorians over? Or having other temp powers show up, or getting information to the Resistance for some NPC allies to take some of the heat in (say) the training/containment areas?

Say, each guarantees a 5 thread reward. If the trial succeeds, one of the merits. If you run multiples, every five (or so) rewards an astral - those numbers and such could, of course, be juggled around. This is mostly to feel like, yes, you *can* help without being #24 of 25, or that if you miss a trial you'll be wasting time until one shows back up - it's a little "something related to do."

Facts are no longer useful. Only the observations of those who support your ideas are are truly useful. Ignore the fact that RWZ is packed daily with people doing PUG raids, since you can explain that away as "it's the only way to earn incarnate awards" instead of admitting that some people like the trials themselves. I know I've run trials on characters I've already maxed T4'd on just because I like to lead them and help others or even like the random teaming to meet new people.
Has anyone said "NOBODY actually likes running them?" No.

    Sorry, but no.

Why are people "lining up to do Lambdas and bafs" still? Because that's the ONLY way to get the incarnate rewards. Which now go beyond powers into costume pieces/auras and emotes.

If the ONLY way to, say, get food was to stand in line to have someone deliver multiple punches/slaps/kicks to random parts of your anatomy, would you say "People want a way to get food without getting hurt" would be false? Because that's what you're doing here.

It's also where a fair part of the teaming is... because of that very thing. Yes, I can get teams elsewhere, but a good chunk of the population is still grinding these out. Which means if you want to play with others, you... go to where they are. Where they're grinding out trials for stuff that can only be gotten through trials.

The trials aren't popular because they're so incredibly wonderful. The trials are popular because they're the only way of getting *multiple* classes of rewards.

I'd bet you have *more* reason to *willingly* go to Pocket D than MOO has to keep running the trials.

I do, to a degree, agree with the sentiment. I don't like seeing so much locked behind the trials - with the trials the only reasonable way of actually getting anything. I'd still like to know just what was wrong with the Alpha system, quite frankly, and why shards were so quickly relegated to a "lol, just kidding" by the devs.

I want to see more - ok, *ANY* - solo/small team content related to Incarnates. OK, so you're sending task forces (which really deserve the name) to hit the big targets. Why can't I, or myself and two friends, work on sneaking in to hit some other anciliary targets?

Or, as I've said before... why aren't we taking (and strengthening) "godlike" powers against, oh, a mad, dimension-eating deity?

We won't be lacking for iTrials for a while. We've got five more (ugh.... I really dread that) power slots to unlock, so we'll probably have at LEAST five more of these. (And why do I get the feeling we'll see "Time manipulation" be strangely effective when we face the Neuron trial, whatever it might be called?) So we've got these grinders coming for a while.

But something *else* that can be done... yeah, it would be nice. Something I can do on my OWN time... much like gathering shards while running missions. *cough* But in a reasonable timeframe. Something that, if there are three of us would-be trial runners standing around in a dead time (like, oh, having just missed two sets of trial teams going simultaneously, or being the "extras,") we can just pick each other up and run really fast.

And I do. What I'm looking at with the countersuggestion is avoiding the PLing the OP's suggestion would encourage and encouraging people to get probably as many (if not more) PPs for *playing the content.*

Heck, throw in a bonus for finishing story zones like Striga, Croatoa or Faultline (which, admittedly, rather screws over redside until either Croatoa or RWZ... but OTOH encourages more stuff like this to be made/added to places like DA.)
