Dark Watcher Chance For Recharge Slow and Taunt Auras

I know they took away Taunt sets from the taunt auras because the chance for psi was doing something, I don't remember if it was a balance issue or a mechanical one...

so my question is...if I put the chance for recharge slow in Rise to the Challenge, will it do anything, or will it fail to work?

Just considering this for a moment

Considering Dark Watcher's Despair is not a taunt set, the question is fair and valid. And I don't have the answer.

I wouldn't slot it.

Does it really matter if 1 out of 5 enemies is attacking you 20% slower? Since there's no way to tell if it's actually working, I wouldn't bother with it, and the enemies you would WANT to use it on are nearly immune to recharge debuffs anyway (AVs and such)

it should work on any mobs within range but 20% chance of 20% slow doesn;t have enough effect on much anything but loads of minions

You can see when it hits as the message appears in the chat channel on the "healing delivered" channel. As for telling if it actually is useful, that is a matter of opinion. I use it in my dark characters' Dark Servant and Darkest Night and see the combat spam frequently [on pet healing delivered and healing delivered channels], so to me it's another helpful debuff against the enemy.

I'm looking at a solo SS/Will Brute...geared mostly for "fun with KB" but want decent survivability still

the recharge debuff would help a little bit, assuming its effective...I'm not really worried about one on one's yet....most of the time I get down to a single boss, I'm good...haven't started thinking about gearing for AVs (she's 20 right now)

Ditto on my /Dark MM. I wish I had space for it in my Fearsome Stare, too.

Isn't it kind of counterproductive for a Brute to slow the pace of incoming attacks? Wouldn't that be detrimental to building fury?

Ice Armor.

On the other hand, Dark Armor. And fury change.

Possibly, but maybe not. There's a point of diminishing returns somewhere. After a point, a few attacks more or less /sec doesn't change the fury bar too much.

So, just depending on the situation and the mobs involved, but prob'ly not too much of a diff.

All you need is the alpha strike from a group to get your fury to a reasonable level, and you can maintain fury off your personal attacks. If this had any effect on fury generation/maintenance, it would be minimal.

With the current change to fury (now several issues old) anyone who has a problem with maintaining fury, has a problem with their build, not with the rate of incoming attacks.

I took a level 6 brute into the rikti warzone and pounded on a target dummy and had 75% fury rather fast. It hen stayed there just from brawl set on auto while I left to make a cup of tea for 5 minutes+.

You do not need any incoming attacks to build fury. It helps certainly, but is not NEEDED.

yeah, I'm not having any trouble maintaining fury even after slotting the power

and the extra survivability is nice since I've introduced some artificial difficulty into my solo-key-binds, the longer I fight, the more erratic and berserkery Tender gets if I'm playing on solo mode (haven't played team yet)

her two basic behaviors I've called "wading" where she'll just hit whatever is in reach (the 1-0 keys include commands to attack nearest target) and "annoyed" which is focus on one target, only change when that target is dead or I tell her too, and that mode starts with a follow command

initially, she only switches behaviors when I tell her to (though I'm noticing some follow commands got left in where they shouldn't be)

eventually, she starts switching between the behaviors occasionally

by the end of a mission, she switches behaviors a lot

in fact, this has accidentally created a third behavior where she follows someone she was annoyed with (eventually making it closest target) but still targets and hits whatever is closest so when I queue an attack (or when I think I'm queuing an attack) she turns around and smacks someone before continuing the chase

sometimes this causes her to change follow targets too

I've called this third behavior "Benny Hill" since it tends to produce a large number of people chasing after her

I also deliberately have her solo build knockback heavy and am deliberately playing berserker mentality....meaning she tends to aggro more than she intelligently should

this usually is why I die solo, but they are awesome deaths surrounded totally by massive numbers of enemies

currently, she's 27 at -1 x6, as I get stronger I've been upgrading numbers first, since my goal is large groups rather than tough enemies, I just upgraded to -1x6, but that's starting to look too easy too

we'll see

earlier today I was on -1 x5 and aggroed what looked to be three groups of even level council and had to use inspirations in some points but otherwise held....

ehhh

anyway, the combat log says the proc works in that power

and apparently while typing that last response, banished pantheon people were pounding on her....to no result

also, her team-mode removes the erratic behavior...since there is no behavior I don't control, I also remove the chat binds I designed for her to tell me whether she's annoyed or wading: "Who's next!?" and assorted other comments for wading..."Are you a flea, $target?" and assorted other comments for annoyed

at each level of change (only 3 levels right now, will add two more as costumes become available), I've got about 3 lines of chat embedded in each set of 11 bind files, so the chat isn't common

however, key 6 has moved from unusual to frequent, so will probably have to remap some things....currently, she's upgrading levels every 5 minutes or so

This run of binds has 7 costume/file set shifts; some on main-use powers 1-4; 4 chat commands; and 5 random shifts to the "Wading"/"Standard" behavior

A similar line from the tndrst21.txt through tndrst29.txt for the behavior shift looks like this:

Quote:
Originally Posted by Wading to Annoyed behavior command

note, again, when shifting to annoyed, follow is included

At level 3 in tndran31.txt through tndran39.txt, there are, comparatively 15 lines that involve switching to one of the standard files including "Target nearest enemy" in each command

15 out 90 basic 1-0 activation commands, not including alts and ctrls (including several on the 27 commonly used lines for powers 1-4) makes her very erratic, sometimes switching opponents on the first attempt to attack an opponent I've designated

at that level, I basically try to make sure my target is the only thing on the screen if possible....if there is no critical target, then I just give her her lead

On the tndrst31.txt through tndrst39.txt there are 26 instances where she shifts from wading to annoyed, meaning she's MUCH more likely to get focused away from wading than to go from annoyed to wading...each of those 26 instances does contain a follow command

as to the buffer files: tndrst1a.txt, tndrst1b.txt, tndrst2a.txt, tndrst2b.txt, tndrst3a.txt, tndrst3b.txt

they all look essentially the same:

hitting alt-2 (my rage button) here shifts to tndrst1b.txt hitting alt-2 there goes to tndrst11.txt

meaning I can choose to artificially advance through the buffer simply by double tapping alt-2, or I can let rage actually be recharged twice and use alt-2 naturally, or I can use the mouse instead of the keyboard and prevent the file from advancing at all

this is to both slow down the rate of injury and to prevent the bind files attempting a costume change in the 30-second no-change window

To start the sequence over again:

there are 68 total mostly identical files controlling her behavior, if I wanted to extend he erratic behavior to the buffer period, then I'd have to add more. When I add the 4th and 5th costume slot, I will add 22 files (11 wading, 11 annoyed) each time so the grand total number of files will be 112.

at level 4 I'm probably going to continue about the same level of behavior switching as 3 (perhaps increase it to 20 annoyed->wade and 30 wade->annoyed) but also add in random inspiration usage replacing a normal power use...she is already an inspiration hog, but currently I am deciding what to use at least

I'll probably embed 4-7 inspiration pop commands (need to look those up)

at level 5 I'll build on that and design it so:
