then atleast you can get the initial draw, and even putting it away for whatever reason you want too.

A more accurate comparison would be at a restraunt, where instead of paying one off, you may monthly to go as many times as you want.

So You had to pay once per course as well, as a one off, to get acess to them, the CoH course, CoV course and the GR course, but eventually the restraunt owners said that to get more customers in, new people didnt have to pay for acess to course individually... so...

eventually it became that the CoH/CoV/GR course acess came form a one off purchase, as low as even $2, but your subscription was always the same...

If was a patron at the restraunt the food that got brought to me every time was the same as the food brough to you, and the food brought to others, some patrons of the restraunt who had been going longer than me got some bonus stuff thrown in, but it was mostly filler and extra sauces and stuff.

They also decided they could make more money by introducing side dishes! side dishes cost a set amount, but were pretty limited, you wanted the side dish that let you change your chicken from a male to female to huge at will? You had to also pay out for the Tzatsiki, even if you hate Tzatsiki.

You want the side dish that let you eat gothic themed food? well you had to have a Tarot read at your table.

Now what the owners of the restraunt have done, since they are so awesome is that they have opened a restraunt where people can come and eat for free, but they can still pay a subscription too.

The free eaters have to sit in quiet and arnt allowed birthday singers or anything and they have to order everything alla carte, but the subscription eaters are so much better off!

Now their subscription includes nearly everything it did before, sure when the restraunt adds a new side dish, or even a new main dish now they have to pay a little one off fee to acess them, but they don't pay that one off fee with real money, not if they don't want to.

Each month the restraunt owners give them 400 restraunt points to use on whatever they want, they want to include the new Broad Beams in their subscription? they can, or are they not fussed with Broad Beams and want Street Mustard, well they can have that too! so while these things may have previously been incldued to them for free, they may not have wanted to have them as part of their main.

However the new side dish, a salady thing called a Rocket Board, they may have always fancied that (I find rocket a bit too peppery for me, but hey) so now they have add that to their subscription with those 400 restraunt points.

Otherwise that eater may have had Broad Beams and Street Mustard and never used them, but always wanted the Rocket Board, but never wanted to pay additional money to get acess to it, but now he can.

Right you know what, this is a rubbish analogy, ive never heard of a subscription restraunt, though i'm sure they probably do exists, i think theres subscription wine bars, but its really hard to link an alla carte subscription system to anything but an alla carte subscription system.

LRTR is that you really are better off, if previously you were happy with what you got and never purchased boosters or anything and played the new free powersets as they came out, you can save up points and get them pretty much as soon as they come out.

If you HAD to HAD to HAD to have everything that was released, every little boosterpack to matter how useless (party pack!) and you threw your dollar at the game like it was going out of fashion, well then you can still throw your dollar the the game.

(Now maybe a Premium player with a toon that unlocked Alpha while still a VIP or subscriber could participate in these TFs, but if so, I'd say that's not working as intended.)
I was, I thought that ayone could participate, just having the slot unlocked and filled stopped the debuff....

Unless it's a venomous kind that is, then I wouldn't take the chance. (I'd also call an exterminator the next day.)

I almost have some weird fear of Karma concerning spiders, I don't kill them, I always try to rescue them and release outside. Unless they are really big and dangerous. This way my creepy crawly karma gets built up and I get left alone.

With it being 'clumsy' it's more than likely on it's last few hours and losing it's grip on the ceiling. I'd just hold a cup over it and then slide a piece of paper over the opening.

I also believe in a creey crawly based karma.

The more I kill the less of them there are to terrorise me.

The arcs are much shorter than your progress up the rep bar will have you believe, since they have multiple arcs, but the first unlocks PPP access.

If you have already started Sciroccos, hop to it, if you haven't started any yet, Black Scorpions is fastest and easiest, and it doesnt matter whos you do, unless you care about the badge.

    ontopically,

One of my favourite bugs / exploits to this game was that certain colour combination that rendered body parts invisible.

Using that to turn gloves into stumps and combining with energy blast was an awesome, ghetto way of doing this.
  8. Also, a quirck of bodyguard mode...
Follow Defensive takes a few moments for BG mode to kick in.
Goto Defensive activates BG mode isntantly.

I tend to charge in with a petcom_all Goto Defensive macro, and once ive absorbed the alpha, and negated any mez risks, commence with the tactical killings.

  11. I enjoy sonic, but it is massively unloved by most people, which I don't udnerstand, the majority of people build for a softcap, so I can see why FF gets some hate, but not many people are capable of putting themselves at resistance caps, even with sonic putting them halfway.

I have a Grav/Sonic controller, and I was doing a Citadel TF with mostly blasters, a fairly smoothy WP tank, 1 scrapper and a pure emp defender (quite a while ago, before buff changes)

I kept my buffs up on all, kept everyone inside my shield as much as I could, and maintained the toggle on the tank, I got 0 thanks, while the emp (the healing aura on auto kind) got "Woah, great heals, barely seeing any risk here" blah blah blah.

Its very demoralising... until I mapservered and came back 5 mins alter to find a teamwipe in the middle of a regular mob and a whole lot of questionmarks as to what had changed.

    2. Elitism basically doesn't exist unless a particular player is a dolt. Every build is viable unless you've pulled some seriously epic stupid human tricks (all four travel powers or not taking any attacks beyond your tier1 or whatever). Some builds are better in teams than others, some builds can solo standard content better than others, some builds are wildly powerful and can solo most of the game.

    3. There are a bunch of oddities regarding upgrading from free/premium to VIP, so best bet is to send a petition.

    4. Any enhancement that must be crafted are IOs. Level 25 IOs are about equal to an even level SO. You can do a lot more crazy things with IOs than you can do with SOs. SO builds can be very "cookie cutter". You can access IOs with a monthly fee of $2 (buying 400pp means you can access IOs for two months, with some change left over).

    5. PVP can be done from 1-50 in the arena, and can be done from 15-50 in PVP zones. However, PVP is almost completely dead on most servers, with Freedom and Infinity being the most active PVP servers, but even then it's pretty low pop. PVP is pseudo balanced but not really.

Agge pretty much summed everything up,

I will add however in regards to numbers 1+4) Nearly all the content you will have access to as a Premium 50 was introduced pre-IOs, so while yes, individuals with access to them have the potential to handle content better, they don't protect from poor playstyle, which could still see you excelling at some content more than others.

Unfortunately you can't purchase yourself incarnate content, but all the top level Task Forces will allow you to participate, 2 of these however have level 54 enemies and debuff your level to an effective 46, giving them 8 levels of clearance over you... You can still participate, if you can find a team willing to take you, and your idea of participation involves the floor alot.

So i just popped into game, selected a new character slot and went straight to the costume as soon as possible. it gave me a Middle slidder for everything male, and I went straight to the belts option and looked at the current CoT belt...

It clips with the Thigh in tights...

    ...The thigh...

That means it clips with everything because its already stuck into the basic model...

    just sayin.

    Please.
    Actually, thats what i did,

lucky today i visted forums before getting in game.

When the volcanic Aura released last week, I got that before i even checked it out too.

want to trust Paragon Studios, that I could just buy packs and get what i would expect in them, trust definately gone for now though.
  16. I bought the Barbarian Set without having any specific intentions in mind.

Now the CoT belt, the glowing one, I had, I dunno, about a million uses for that, and its not in the pack?

What did it really clip with, if thats the excuse?

I have to say, I've always hated this "it clips with some stuff, so you cant have it" response you guys dish out, since alot of stuff does end up clipping, look at the Steampunk pack, the female chest details can only be very selectively used without clipping.

I'm only echoing the posts of my fellow players here, and have nothing new to add, but as much as purchasing the barbarian pack was a take my money/show of support for the new stuff, NOT purchasing the CoT pack is going to have to be my demonstration against not getting the cool stuff.

    No belt, No buck :S

Without having seen the series, I do have one fundamental issue with it. Other than wanting to have dinosaurs on the show, and steal all the Jurassic Park-y vibe that they can, why on earth would you jump back 85 million years to "restart" human society? Did they completely forget that if the dinosaurs are still there, then that means that the extinction level event that wiped them out hasn't occured yet. Which of course means that any new society they do manage to create will be wiped out as well, completely negating the entire point of their return to the past. Plus, the world would change so much physically in 85 million years even without any such event, that it would render their jump back through time moot.

Why would they not instead jump back say 10-15 thousand years, or at least something a HELL of a lot closer to the "dawn" of human civilization, where the world pretty much resembles the world they already know, and try to pick things up from there?

Anyway, thats just my pre-show nitpick. They may explain it completely when the show airs, but it just seemed kind of silly to me.

Why indeed risk any alteration to the timeline, any sort of paradox at all?

Im confused by the concept too, but mildly intruged, I'll watch it, and if they can't come up with a better reason than Stargate Universe-esque "Going into this portal we have no idea where goes is the only way for us to survive, oh wow we landed on 'whole point of show plot device'" then i'll not follow it, especially considering that unless they are yellow and 4 fingered, Fox aint keeping them...
  18. I've often thought, especially around new set release time that the Powers forum should be lumped around powerset types rather than ATs, i.e Support/Control/Personal Survival/Ranged Damage/Melee Damage etc

Its extremely obvious with sets like Time Manipulation, which, at the bare minimum had active topics in the main Powerset & AT forum, in the Corruptor, and Defender and Controller AND Mastermind sub forums.

While alot of it can be discussion entirely based around that AT, for the most part these threads consist of discussing these powers usefulness disregarding the AT whos section they were in. In the Corruptor section the thread several times mentioned the different numbers available to the defender Time manipulator. very few of these threads discussed playstyles as limited to the single AT, as beyond Damage or Buff/debuff first, it again plays out fairly similar.

that being said, I can see it becoming alot more cluttered with any change, certainly mine with having tank primary and secondaries discussed in seperate areas, and those shared with scrappers and brutes would be monumentally cluttered, and even Zwilli's initial idea would be too,

you'd simple get threads starting Brutes: Kat/Regen, or Scrapper Kat/Regen, since ultimately the playstyles are so different, and a master of the same powerset layout on one AT may be very inexperienced with how it would play out playing for another ATs strengths. So i'd have to say, leave it the way it is.

And that has to go for the forums in general for me, there are areas I avoid, because theres no information I want there, and theres nothing I want to contribute to there, likewise there are bits I check infrequently for the same reason, I like that these areas are out of sight, and out of mind.

Yes its daunting to have alot of forums, but moreso it is annoying, very, very annoying to have a lack of forums and have to trawl through forum flotsom to find the threads i'd actually be interested in.

    Regarding forum rules, they all sound like the usual stuff except;

While discussion with support should be private in some circumstances, in others it should be public, lets say I petition something thats broken that for advancement of your character purposes I need to find a way around, support tell me how, while passing it on to the Devs to get fixed. -- its alot mroe productive for me to share that info with everyone than everyone having to petition it themselves when it comes up for them.

Dissapointed no change to the "Do not discuss other games here" rule that broke one of my favourite subsections

    EU servers down?

Heres a simple flow chart for telling if the servers are up

    Code:
Is It EU Peak time, getting close to EU Peak time, just after EU peak time, or in general time in EU?
    Code:
    Servers are down
  24. When I read the thread title I actually thought this was more the CERN guys turining up with their lab goggles in hand, looking all sheepish saying sorry for breaking stuff.
  25. You can also;

Join a teaming/TFing/Badging global channel on your server, alot of TFs will get organsied on the fly through these.

Post in your servers forum page a set time / date you wish to run your TF of choice, and gather interest that way.

Or I suppose join an SG that does frequent stuff.

While an update to the LFG tool would be nice, for TFs it probably wouldnt work. I did a Sister Psyche last night that I put to together, took about 15 - 20 mins of recruiting before heading off with 6.

If I had logged in and put myself in the LFG for Sister Psyche, I could have been waiting hours fo rit to start, if it at all would have, and because of the way the LFG tool works, I wouldnt have been able to do any instanced missions at all... which sucks.

So while its a neat idea, I suspect it would be harder to work out, since everything else dumps you onto a team/league in a single mission, and it has better alternatives that still allow you to do other things while waiting to start.
