Quote:I had to breakdown a rare or 2 to get the commons I wanted to finsih crafting stuff as I just don't get common.I've gotten enough Very Rares to fill out all of the new slots on my Trapper without any attempts to "game" the reward system (in fact empirical evidence on my other characters shows I really, really, suck at attempting to game the rewards system). I still need to get my slots unlocked and farm up the commons I need to actually make the abilities though.
A bit dissapointed Reactive doesn't proc on any traps powers so far as my testing shows -
-
If you read the recent dev posts, you would see that the reward table is having its weighting changed to increase the chances of getting a rare and very rare.
And as for the crashing and stuff, its either your computer or your connection. Or the server you play on. If everyone else is crashing then it will be the server, if its just you, then i'm afraid its just you, and probably something you're end.
I've never crashed or lost connection or anything on an incarnate trial, and now that the EU servers live in the same place as the NA servers, my connection has a long ways to travel -

Quote:qftAye, however I'm not buying it. They already stated there was a Mastermind issue. And a comment of "Uncommons are out of balance" does not account for why the "statement" took so long to prepare and had to go through Marketing.
I suspect this is a smoke and mirrors affair to cover the changes they'll actually be making to participation.
the number of 'good' MM players who have commented on low rewards, and indeed my own experiences, definately lead me to believe there is something affecting MMs. Especially since the announcement contradicts itself.
"once you pass the threshold thats it"
"if your league does well, you're more likely to get a V.Rare"
erm... What? Seems a bit off.
Given that I can play my now tripple shifted MM in a way I feel has the best participation factor and get common - uncommon (1 or 2 rares ever)
I can then go on my unshifted (at all) Traps/Sonic Defender and drop a rare, nearly every time.
So i've got to face the fact that either, the Devs are misinforming us. The Devs dont fully understand their own system OR the 'R'NG is not so random, and has it in for my MM.
Either of those I don't particuarly enjoy the idea of. -
Quote:Again, you dont have to do the incarnate trials, the original alpha recipes are still available and craftable.More like they made it that you "Have too" do incarnate missions now. I was happy just getting Shards and just working on my Alpha, because i am so burned out on BAF/Lambda,but now i have to do them even for the Alpha slot. because we can go from shards to threads but not the other way around.
I have used a combination of progress via shards and threads to get newer toons alphad up. -
/Storm is fun, but maybe doesnt have the level of support you're after, and it has a targeted heal, which you may hate as you may be expected by some to be a "mini-emp"
The shield sets /sonic /ff /thermal /cold have shields on 4 min rehcarges so its not that much of a pain (to me) to play them and focus on primary while I go. /thermal and /cold both have excelent debuff values in there, sonic too, but it lacks on -regen.
Kinetics is fun, but you run the risk of being a slave to Speed Boost, and in the end game Fulcrum shift is also expected to be you're first actionable choice.
Which brings us back to /rad as Void said.
It has a diverse and useful set of debuffs that can make some controllers level GMs.
It has a brilliant buff.
It has a little Healing Aura clone for you to rock, if you so choose.
It has some extra control
and it has a few quircky things
oh and a rez
As far as primary goes. Earth with turn the defences of anything you leverage it against into mush, and some of those debufferies are autohit.
It also carries one of the best holds in the game (and rad has the next best plus one more!)
Illusion provides mitigation via your phantom army (very almost i.e. theres one entity in the game that can kill them) unkillable pets that can be made perma, and is very much a top perfroming set.
other control sets re fun too, and have their own quircks and so on, but for what you seem to want, these two plus rad while let you have alot of fun.
(and now im going to lament over not making my Earth/Rad incarnate yet) -
Speed Boost and Siphon Speed are functionally quite far apart.
One boosts the Recovery Rate, Recharge Rate and Movement Speed of a ally.
One Boosts only the Recharge Rate and movement speed of yourself, and debuffs those values on your opponent, and requires a to-hit check.
Siphon Power and Fulcrum Shift... I agree completely. Should not co-exist in the set, Siphon Power just adds nothing to Fulcrum Shift (except for being available in early game which isnt really an addition)
Repel > while I dislike it, I'm sure someone will come in here and sing it's virtues. another skippable.
Inertia Reduction > a movement power giving verticle movement to anyone (even granite's en masse). No toggle endurance useage and doesnt require a pre-req power choice. Yes please!
(although I do agree maybe more buffs in here would help)
My main gripe playing kin is that if my anchor dies on Transference or Transfusion i've wasted my power with having no effect! -
And the patch notes covered it too................................

Quote:And how animated it is.Time needed increases proportionally with length and thickness of hair.
I lived in a house at Uni where the power shower was shorting into the water and giving mild electric shocks at low temperatures. Even with a pony tail down to my waist I was having 90 second showers and spasms >< -
Each trial has a minimum number of participants.
presumuably if enough time lapses between people quitting and them not coming back or the slots getting filled it will fail you're trial. -
Were you by any chance in Pocket D.
TP Supression, its wasted my powers more times than I can count. -
I persoinally wasnt experiencing any lag at the time.
no league members where nearby and they ran into a group at the edge of my draw distance.
they were newly summoned pets that shouldnt have had agro on anything. -
Now I know that mastermind AI has always been a little bit buggy, I accepted that when I rolled my DS/Dark. I accepted that when i chose her to be one of my most heavily IOd toons, and when I decided she would be my first to charge down the Incarnate path.
I accept that sometimes they charge into melee when they shouldn't because they are cycling their melee attacks etc etc.
But theres something seriously wrong when after summoning the only command I issue is Follow Passive (repeatedly) and watch the poor little demons run to their death, while rather amusingly spouting the "yeah i'll stick by you" blurb they give when issues Follow Passive.
This seems to only be an issue in the new incarnate stuff, in the BAF trial when i'm on reinforcement cover they will charge off around the courtyard running towards siege or Nightstar, ignoring Follow Passive, and even ignorning Goto Defensive, I just can't keep them in place.
And just now on Lamda we were regrouping for a judgement driven swing at marauder and his reinforcements when I watched them all charge in.
its ever so mildly frustrating and its reached a point where its no longer an issue I can work around, or put up with, as was previous AI problems. -
thats only showing damage resistance and not any debuff resistance tho, so surely debuffing him would bring that down?

Quote:Plus Kryptonite is about as Tropish as you can get. Heck its replacing the term "Achilles Heel" in modern language because of it.I'll go back and rehash the idea that to the general public at large, the two villains most people know are Luthor and Zod because of the original movies.
The problem with Superman, and let's include Wonder Woman and GL into this, is their powers are simply too great compared to 99.999% of the bad guys out there. Sure a bad guy with a piece of Kryptonite, a bondage fetish or dressing as a banana can level the playing field and ruin their respective day but you aren't going to see a meaty punch to the face of some criminal scum like you do in Batman. And when you decide that the big bad is a planetary scale problem, it's tough to build a movie franchise on that level of threat sequel after sequel.
Yes superman's powers surpasing most of his foes is just plain stupid, the fact Lex stands a chance sometimes is absurd, but down mostly to his ownership of what seems to be a planetsized collection of radioactive chunks of Kyrpton... which in Superman 1 Supes just happens to tell Lois Lane he's allergic too.
I mean honestly how stupid can you get.
Whats even worse is his constant ability to overcome these Kryptonite based obstacles, Superman Returns being the most ludacrous of them all, hes been stabbed with Kryptonite, yet he lifts a half/half Kryptonite/Kryptoquartz micro-contient off of the earth and into space.
Having a villain that can stand toe to toe with him on raw power while still occupying that mad brilliant mind niche Lex also occupies will allow for a bit of thrills and waht not, but saying that, the nearest thing to a fight scene between 2 equally powerful entities in Superman 2 was the canteen... and Clark got owned. -
Quote:Choking Cloud sir, Choking Cloud.I have found myself frustrated with my Ill/Rad in both of the new Incarnate trials, but especially in one phase of the BAF trial -- escaping mental patients.
This section appears to have been set up for Controllers to handle the minions while the other guys take care of the lieutenants and bosses. The controllers (and Dominators) can only control the minions to prevent their escape. However, Spectral Terror is worthless -- even the minions run right through and past it. They show the fear animation, but otherwise ignore it. PA doesn't seem to hold their attention, either -- They just run past the ghosty guys.
Since Illusion is substanially lacking in other AoE control, I find this part of the trial to be extremely frustrating on my Ill/Rad (and Ill/Cold, but he at least has Sleet and Snow Storm). The Ill/Rad only has Flash and EM Pulse on long timers for AoE control. In effect, I am mostly limited to chasing down single foes to attack with my Blind-SW-Blast-SW chain. Phanty helps a fair amount by blasting and knocking back foes. But I feel that due to the design of this part of the trial, several of my key powers have been (unfairly) neutralized.
Spectral Terror should have some effect. The minions should at least pause for a few seconds due to the fear effect.
I know you've always said that its counterintuitive to Ill/Rad, but there you go, a use for it, even if it is a pretty fringe use... is respecing into it solely for the BAF a good idea? probably not. Does it cover the fact that most of this issue with no AoE control is an issue with illusion? no!
But still, its a asmall answer to your woes. -
Quote:under the agreement we'd have to start in the near exact location you zone into, Id be so up for that. This hadn't occured to me. I would love to form up just outside where we were going to invade. That would be epic.
It's just a shame I'm unlikely to gather a band of thirteen others who agree with me rather than say 'lol u comin 2 pocket d???'.
INFACT! it should be a requirement to start in exactly the same locaiton as you zone into

Have you looked in the announcement section?
You may notice that the servers went down about 30 mins ago.
EDIT: Double Scooped -
Quote:The dots represent server stress. What I believe needs to happen is server consolidation. Cut both lists in half, pool the server resources so every server has 4+ dots at a time with the maximum per server around 10. This would solve so many problems with people unable to find groups. Plus, maybe we then we can run an ITF or Incarnate trial without massive lag affecting everyone.
they do not indicate how populated a server is at that given time.
More dots is bad. -
The method we used last night made it easy street, was it @Amaan who came up with it? I dunno, Damz knows, definately the best positioning, very few escapees. and i gather many people on that go were first timers.

It took me about a year of casual being aroundyness to actually complete an STF, when that first came out I read all the guides, I ran it constantly and I just couldn't get it. There was PuGs, Global Channel teams, SG teams, nothing worked!
So I gave up, I decided that the end game content wasn't going to fit for me. Called it bad design and left it alone. Now I can't recall the last time I had much of a problem with it.
Last night, after having only tried the Lambda briefly on test I did BAF>LAM>BAF>BAF>BAF
Of which we failed>WON>WON>boot crash>Fail>Fail (because of a UI bug)
My point is, at the start, it's just luck, and hoping you team with knowledgeable and good players, on the first day saying "Oh I'm never gonna win this", being rude and throwing toys out of the pram isnt good feedback, and isnt giving the new content a go. -
Bugged this when it happened on Union last night. But it was a BAF, not Lambda
