for farming, sure. I have found that if i see a build that looks like a farm build, i generaly dont want them on my ITF or any TF that i want to roll through. The farming mentality doesnt translate well to teaming. those builds are usually geared towards soloing. It may be just me, but my history of fire/kins on any TF had been anything but stellar. Your milage and track record may vary.
  2. Your best bet for this EVER happening is using either existing or slightly modifying versions of already availible in game powers. it is just so much easier. I think the dev's are to busy finding ways for you not to use the nukes in Cityl and figuring out new emote packs to have people pay for to even think about something this cool.

more than likely, the fifth power for every set will be focused accuracy :-)
Better yet, take all the good toggle powers and make them clickies.

  4. So, has anyone tried a build like this or similar? could someone post a current TA/A build they have?
I kinda like this idea and I may try it.
  5. how do you save something as a MNU file and not as a txt. no one ever mentions that...???

    Time bomb

Are there going to be any changes to this power ever yall think?
  7. I am trying not to break any rules, so I wont mention any names of any competition who's name anacronym shares some letters with COH/V, but I was reading some articles about a certian past lead designer of City who uses this game and references it when it suits him, but then turns around and bashes it when it feels convienient....which is basicly in every article. I'll post a quote and let you all see what I mean. Really I just wanted to vent because this ticked me off. I am sure it is old news and if we were a football team this would be bullitin board material. To me, this is how NOT to handle yourself as a professional. I sure hope if the DEV's have read this garbage that they dont listen to him or take anything he has to say to heart.

"Coming out of City of Heroes we launched to great acclaim, we got a lot of publicity, everybody loved it, but we didn't have crafting and we didn't have PvP. All there was to do was fight. Over the years everybody pinged us on this. We added PvP and didn't really gain any subscribers. We added crafting and we gained roughly ten thousand subscribers for three months and then it went back down. So in the grand scheme of things, what I learned is, if you didn't have a feature at launch, you might as well never have it. Whatever you're going to have at launch defines you as a game."

there are other quotes and links and such. just google the name and read. anyhow, i completly disagree with this line of thinking. On another note, wasnt there a list somewhere of things that would never happen in city made by someone a while back?
how many of these things have happened over the years?
  8. i am interested to see what the new inherants do to all the builds.

I mean you can even take 3 throw-away powers and never/rarely use them and be just as you are now. Melee types could take Combat Jumping, or not feel so bad about having to take Box or Kick from the fighting pool. My TPers will be taking Hover now, many of my characters can take things like Rez powers or Smoke or a marginal panic button power like Bonfire. And a lot of my characters will be able to take a choice of travel powers rather than being stuck with Superspeed because choices were too tight.

I do hope that the silly restriction with Kheld forms and the Fitness pool is lifted now it's becoming an inherent though.
This just in, the fighting pool is the new fitness.
    Buy your IO's now!

If Castle can promise us that there is not going to be some penalty for it in some way (more expensive power costs or more end drain critters), then I can get behind the idea of this.
it is a sad day when you cant even rejoice over something good happening because you have to wonder what the catch is. is this speculation or can we be happy and excited for once?

I need to respec prior to i19 to get Fitness as an inherent? And if I don't, I will never be able to, and then lose access to the Fitness power pool on top of that after I respec?

Or, i19 goes live. I respec after and Fitness becomes inherent and all is well?
THIS is exactly my question. I just burned a darn respec and now I have to do the carp again just to get something for free or never get it at all? This is cool, but not cool you know? If so, i am kinda steamed i blew a respec for a patron PP or an update on a build only to find out I need it here soon to change yet again. What gives????
  12. If fitness is made inherent, I wonder what Khelds and Veats will do with those extra power picks and possible slots?
  13. agreed, i love my fire/rad more. I have HO's in the toggle, I have 4 procs in choking cloud and sometimes i am running 8 toggles all the while killing stuff. Whats great is that AM and debuffs stack, multiple fulcrums do not.

    Stone/Dark Build

BTW, you save 2 slots by useing 3 ham-o's in rooted. if you wanna proc mule, use health.
and using doctored wounds for the recharge in the 6 sloted DM attack makes more sence then using that accurate heal B.S. set. just throw a ACC in there. I do this with the KIN heal also.
  15. Medic_brietz

    Stone/Dark Build

I use rock armor as a early exemp down armor. to me, i dont mind psi being my only hole.
I suppose you could take minerals. It probably makes more sence anyway. I would probably 3 slot it with another LOTG recharge, a lotg def, and a def IO since the end use isnt a whole lot or end.

I used the mako's bite to shore up other types or DEF. You could go crazy with all the s/l def you want, but at some point you have to look at other types. I am almost softcapped to all 6 main types of attacks (e,ne,s,l,c,f) with my stone/stone/soul build.

one thing to add. If you hate one of your sets thats six sloted, go with a mocking beratement set. it is cheap and very good and offsets the price of all the obliterations.
Your goals sloting a stone tanker should be for this, and it has been said before here:
1)try toget as much def in granite as possible trying to hit 40-45 percent def for all 6 types
    2) try to get back to base recharge (overcoming -65 percent)
    3) try to get back to base run speed (14.34 mph?)
make sure you are softcapped for s/l as always which is very easy.
Try to get some of your damage power back, but dont sacrifice your main build to do it.

lastly learn you powers, go for what you think works, and go cheap starting out where you can with the idea of buying more later on. only use purples where it makes sence (like in stuns or targeted AoE's) and have fun.

    Stone/Dark Build

Here is my try at giving you plenty of def with no purples and a few cheap options here and there...

  17. I play alot of defenders...and now with GR on the scene I have branched off into controllers and Masterminds. Could you please toss in some of the powers that go into sets like MM /traps and others that might not be in a defender or corruptor version? The ONLY thing this guide is missing is a slight foray into those other powers people may run into and then come back to this awesome guide only to not find them.

Basicly, I want more. Is this a possibility?
  18. which server has the most red side population? who is second?
I went to the dark side on my tank (virtue) to try something new and
I can rarely find a team. I know time of day play's into this, but I am just wondering on average.
  19. The names of all mine will be, when i get to 50: (bots/traps)
    Wimp Lo
    Ling
    Betty (formerly Master Pain)
    Master Tang
    Whoa
    Chosen One
  20. there are some pretty good builds here. ill check them out.
  21. I am posting this build to see what i need or lack and how to make it better.

I want to be able to solo, have good recharge, and be able to help a team by being able to maximize the potential of all the traps. I don't care much for the heroic APP's, so i just picked one. If some of the powers suck or some are awesome that I may have missed, lemme know. If there is better slotting, id like to know also. I would like to be close to the soft cap for as much defense as possible without gimping the build.

Flight is his travle power by concept. I know this build will cost alot. I avoid purples unless a set of 5 or so make good sence in a power (like maybe switching out the ones in fireball for example).
  22. No. Stone tanks do not need it at all unless your getting it for weave. even then, my tank has 50 percent s/l through set bonus's. I would rather use those 3 power picks for more attacks or better slotting.
  23. One of the few guides bookmarked on my internet explorer. priceless info. please keep this baby up to speed and feel free to expand it. maybe talk about IO sets and HO's and any cool info or sloting ideas plus playstyles. you pretty much have it covered though. great work!
