Quote:Yes, I was on a Tanker. Why wouldn't any inherent KB protection or resistance show up in the combat attributes though? There isn't even a section for Protection anyway, because there isn't a duration on KB.You were either on a tank or scrapper which not only has KB protection but also KB resistance which turns KB into almost nothing when it hits you
With Unyielding turned off, it still showed the same -12.0 but of course it took me for a ride.
OK, so now I just tested my Defender.
She has Acrobatics slotted with 3 KB IOS, giving her a +12.5 KB protection.
The Pylon still shows the same -12.0 again. She did not get knocked back at all.
I don't think I have any other characters with sub12 KB protection, other than 0.. so I don't really have any more test results to show. I'm just assuming a protection of 12 is all that would be needed. -
I just went out there and stood in front of one purposly so I could see what happens.
My Combat Attributes shows a -12.0 from Rikti Pylon.
The strange part about this is the only protection I had was Unyeilding at +10.0 but it still wasn't knocking me back.
If you type [War Zone Pylon.Swarm Missile] it brings up the info in it's power.
Because it's an object, you can't really get accurate information, because it changes when you change the AT in the info box.
The stats show 4 ticks of damage, a magnitude of X KB, and then a 40% chance for an additional magnitude of X/2 KB, which does fit with the 4+2 it shows on the wiki.
Every time I was hit, my attributes showed -12.0 and I was not knocked back with only +10.0 protection.
I'm not sure what's going on, or what the specific stats are.. but it's weird that it would show me -12.0, when it's clearly not. What does your attributes say? -

yep. many people have reported this.
I prevent the issue by using the "View First Unread" arrow when viewing a post, then using the "Mark This Forum Read" option when i'm done with that section, and then going to my User CP and using "Mark All Forums read" before I leave the forums.
Others report still having the issue even after following these steps, but it works fine for me.
YMMV -
From the i14: Architect Release Patch notes:
Quote:These patch notes are also archived on our Wiki page as well: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Patch_...t_Restrictions# Players using Trial Accounts may not access Mission Architect terminals. Trial Account users can be invited to teams that are using the Mission Architect Missions, but cannot create, rate or start any published Mission Architect Missions until they "upgrade" their account with either: - an online serial code purchased from the online NCsoft store,
- an NCsoft Game Card (purchased from a participating retailer) or
- a serial code from a City of Heroes / Villains boxed retail product.
Technically, there is no such thing as an Architect Trial, or an Architect Version. You either have a Trial, or full subscription... regardless which advertisement you clicked on, or which boxed version you bought. The game version is the same for everybody.
The only thing a different boxed version may give you is a few extra powers or costume pieces added to your account. Any Trial version is still under the same restrictions.
You can view the other restrictions on our Wiki page: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Trial_Account -
Quote:I like this. As I have always said, people can farm or do whatever they want to do, and it doesn't affect my game. I'm not against farming, I just don't personally do it.I do it for different reasons.
1) to get stuff that i dont wanna pay for in WW. (farming WW is boring, imo too) i'd rather farm for a couple days and see if it drops before pay people prices for some pieces. usually it drops for me. having 3 accounts helps odds too though.
2) because at level 50, you kill so fast that running 15 door missions get just as boring. and i don't have to try to blaze thru caves.
3) to PL alts for myself, wife, cousin, and SG members.
Let me ask a question to "non farmers". With drop rates being soooo low, how would you really expect to get recipes and salvage without people farming? Play for months hoping to get 1 piece? It would really take years on one toon to get a build doing missions alone. Unless you just use SO's, then what's the point of WW?
But this post is suggesting something I haven't really thought about before. The farmers can get more drops and feed the items into the market to help us non-farmers get what we need as well. Otherwise, we'd be looking at certain items being rarer and possibly having to pay a slightly higher price for them, or not be able to get them at all.
It seems to me it's a WIN for everybody. -
Quote:I have mine disabled for personal reasons. I believe that with so many people manually manipulating their Rep value, it doesn't stand for anything anyway. And I'd cheerfully direct you to my earlier post:
So yeah, the people who don't care about little red and green dots can still be viciously and anonymously harassed.
But you are right, it doesn't stop people from trying to (-) me for making posts against the misuse of the rep feature. All this with my rep not even enabled! What point are they trying to make? rofl
The funny part is, I seem to get just as many, if not more (+) for the same posts as well.
Then again, I also see just as many GREY rep values as well. Apparently the rep scaling can be high enough that some people's opinions don't even count. That makes me like the rep feature even less. Why should helping a new player fix his client and get on his feet count for nothing?
Oh well.. On a side note, I do appreciate reading some of the comments people have left me, thanking me for my help.
My favorite recent one is:
- Your rep is off, but you're so helpful!
Judging by the time of the rep, and the thread history of the post I was given rep for, I think I know who it was, but whoever it really was, I thank you for that either way. It was cute.
If somebody's rep is turned off, I think you should rep them anyway... as long as you are leaving feedback and being honest about it. -
Quote:And yet they admit there is nothing they can do but contact the companies involved in hopes that they will fix something on their end. They know about it and it's a real serious issue to a lot of players. It's not something that NCSoft can fix. The OP blaming them and "flipping them the bird" would be completely inappropriate in this case. I do sympathize, and it's unfortunate to have to close down an account that you might otherwise enjoy if conditions were different, but it's not always the direct fault of the service you are subscribing to. It's frustrating indeed, but the anger is misguided.Quote:
As far as technical support is concerned, we've done as much as we can and this is now incumbent upon PCCW to resolve.
Like I said, "It can be any number of access points en route to the server" and my location apparently doesn't require passing through the particular network that is failing to perform correctly.
As somebody who plays almost exclusively on Freedom, I'll certainly take your advice and "count my blessings" that I live in an area that is not experiencing this difficulty. A few other people I've teamed with and asked about this have also reported no issues at all, and they also live on the East Coast, though I cannot say specifically where, or what service they are using. -
That depends. Are you talking about the driver file, or the setup program for it?
Did you download it along with Demo software? There are some driver packages that even reach into the 3GB range... but they come with trial games or other demo software usually. -
And yet I'm seeing no difference between any server... even this morning.
Like I said, I'd look at the service provider and/or your location. Jiblets said they have issues with Satellite. I don't know what provider you have, but you both seem to be from Texas. There might be something to that.
Just because your connection works fine on one server, and not another, doesn't mean the server is broken. It can be any number of access points en route to the server. The providers in your area apparently take some bumpy back roads to the East Coast. I'm not sure what NCSoft could do to help you on that one.
I'm from Boston area on Cable internet and perform equally on both the east and west coast servers. I can even Dual-log with Freedom (East) and Test Server (West?), and still not have an issue with either instance. I'm sorry, but I can't duplicate your results. -
Why? It sounds like it's working as intended. In your scenario, it's just a very small "chance for" earning a Merit when killing the Rikti in your mission. You just weren't lucky enough to get a drop.
Remember: 10% does not necessarily mean 1 out of every 10. -
Quote:Virtual Farm lolWhat no whining about the rep farmers as well?
I'm surprised :-| -
Sorry, the only picture I got last night was this:

lol. Somebody was complaining on the forums about unplayability on Freedom-redside, and announced "I'm giving NCSoft one more month, and if I can't get a solid foot of Netgraph without red spikes on Freedom, I am taking my measly $15/Mo and flipping them the bird." LOL
Other than that one "delay" during the first mission, I was fine. How did everybody else do?
On a side note, the person complaining was on "Hughes Satellite". I told them to check into their network/service provider. haha
OK, so by default, I do have the full version of the picture too:

Browsing the forums during our break before the last mission.
Smile, Paragon! You're on Camera! lol
(UI is not shown in my fullsize screenshots. I pasted into mspaint to get the netgraph for the first picture.) -
Quote:I don't know if it was broken. That's the way it usually looks for me, and the way it looked all last night when you made your post. I posted only a half an hour after you did, and was on for more than 3 hours at the time.Hey! Is Freedom fixed? That netgraph looks like it did before all this started! (logging on now)
If you were having an issue at the time you posted, I'm afraid it wasn't everybody having the problem, and I don't know of anybody but you that did.
During that time period, I was in Monster Island (it's where I logged off), Mercy Island (to help somebody transfer some money), Port Oakes (to pay my base rent), Cap (to go to market), and Nerva and GV (for the SF). Which zone were you having trouble in? Was anybody else complaining about it in /broadcast?
How is it working for you now? -
(The facial expression of this smiley does not reflect that of the person posting.)
Quote:I use your Stylish file Zombie, and I don't mind the Green at all (as long as it's bold). Yellow and Dark/Orange aren't bad either. Cyan is my favorite, but I'm unsure how it looks on Hero. I guess I'm going to have to check before I use it again. lolAnd speaking of not-so-good color choices...
I know that those who use the hero-side forum were used to bold green hyperlinks, but you're forcing them on us who use the villain-side skin and it looks horrible.
Use Firefox and check out the skin adjustment in my sig if you want the old blue forum look back.
Edit: Cyan doesn't seem to be the best choice either, but it's still readable. I think I'd choose the "Lime" over the Cyan anyway. To each his own.. I guess.
BTW, I agree that I can't even read the dark Blue that Neuronia used either. Ouch! -
*points to my sig for my new October calendar.
Yep.. that's our Final Boss. He looks scary.. but it's those eyeballs that creep me out.. One was even watching me take the picture. haha -

Quote:I am on Freedom, currently nearing the end of a successful MoLRSF.I'm giving NCSoft one more month, and if I can't get a solid foot of Netgraph without red spikes on Freedom, I am taking my measly $15/Mo and flipping them the bird.
I've been logged in for almost 3 hours now without any issues.
(Ok, so the whole team did have a momentary hiccup in first mission, but that was it.)
(And no, the SF isn't taking that long, I was just online before we started. lol)
Here is my current netgraph:

I'd be looking at your network provider instead. -
This.
Even though I don't normally have any issues with the mission, doesn't mean I don't acknowledge the issue. When it happens, it happens to everybody on the team at the same time, regardless of what their system specs are. It appears to be an issue either with the server sending the information, or the server computing something at that particular time. (This doesn't mean people can't lag for other reasons, but I'm referring to this one specific lag scenario.)
When it happens, you can almost always find stuck ambushes or patrols behind the archway or on a bush somewhere. Killing them usually fixes the issue, but it's not an exact science. It's easier just to avoid it altogether by fighting the ambushes from the bridge or clearing.. and even run up to manually taunt and pull the ambushes at times. For people who use a similar tactic and still have the problem.. I honestly don't know what to tell you, and I'm sorry for that.
While the ambushes seem to be the problem, I don't know if it really is. All I can do is present my own experiences to you, and that's what I feel the problem is. I feel that moving the ambush spawn locations would benefit the stability of that mission.
On a side note, regarding the post-Rom lag.. there are actually other ambushes during and after Rom that most people ignore. Most times, they are not a big deal, but sometimes they get stuck as well.. and you end up in a similar situation as Mission 3.
To ensure I prevent this, I make sure I kill everything from what I call the "Imperious ambush" at the beginning of the mission, the "door ambush" on the right side of Rom's platform during the fight, and take out everything from the "hill ambush" on top of the tall hill in front of his platform after the fight. THEN I head to the rooftops to finish off any possible required Cimerorans. (This isn't always ideal in speed-runs, but sometimes at least one person can stay behind to keep those ambushes busy in those cases, and there wont be any ambushes trying to follow you up buildings they can't climb, or plants they don't know how to move around. lol) -
Quote:Hmm.. somehow my "-or-" got cut out of there.. lolIt shouldn't be an issue. The release just says that you have to maintain an active account. So even someone who doesn't use a subscription at all (i.e. pays with time cards) should be ok as long as they apply the new card before the old one expires.
It was:
-or-
What if the account actually expires by accident, and is reinstated the same day?
But you're right. It probably wouldn't be an issue, depending on what they are using to detect the active subscription. Either way, it probably wouldn't be more than a /petition away to check it over and award it to the exceptions.
Was just curious.

A slider is a good idea, in my opinion.
I don't know of any way to make the cursor bigger. I even tried replacing the game cursors, but they just get truncated to the smaller size anyway.
A workaround some people have used, is going to your Mouse Options (in your Windows control panel) and select the option for "Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key". This makes a big recticle flash momentarily around the cursor. Problem with that, though (besides not being able to use CTRL for anything else without it going off), is that it may act weird in fullscreen mode and not display the full animation. -
On a side note.. out of curiousity..
What happens if somebody unsubscribes just to change their payment method, but the account never really becomes inactive during that time? -or-
(This does not affect me, because I'm already prepaid until next February.. just wondering about possible future complaints by others. lol) -
You can also edit your shortcut to include "-fullscreen 0"
For example:
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe" -fullscreen 0
